SEASON 1

>Tommy would originally become Oliver’s arch-nemesis, but the character became so popular that producers decided to have Tommy die a hero instead and inspire Oliver to become a better person.

>Moira would originally be the mastermind behind the Undertaking, but producers liked Susannah Thompson so much they made her a reluctant participant to keep her around for another season.

>Diggle did not originally exist, but producers quickly realized that Oliver needed someone to interact with about his crimefighting activities.

>Felicity was slated to appear in only two episodes, but became so popular she became a recurring character and was later promoted to the main cast.

>Carly Diggle would originally be Diggle’s main love interest, but audiences did not respond well to the character, and she was quickly written out and replaced by Lyla Michaels in season 2.

>Edward Fyers’ enforcer would originally be Slade Wilson, but producers ultimately decided it was more interesting to make Slade Oliver’s mentor-turned-enemy and changed the enforcer into Billy Wintergreen.

>Onomatopoeia was slated to appear, but producers felt his gimmick was too difficult to translate and replaced him with Mr. Blank.

>The Royal Flush Gang was slated to return further down the season, but ultimately never did.

>Malcolm would originally be Oliver’s biological father, but Stephen Amell and John Barrowman believed that to be cliché and suggested that Malcolm be Thea’s father instead.

>Oliver and Laurel would originally be the "endgame" couple. But early negative fan reaction to Laurel, coupled with Sara and Felicity's popularity, caused them to start to pivot away from that relationship in Season 2. By Season 3, they had abandoned the Oliver/Laurel relationship altogether in favor of Oliver/Felicity.

Attached: A-S1.jpg (1067x1600, 365K)

SEASON 2

>Slade’s vendetta against Oliver would originally happen further into the show and be the result of a series of poor choices made by Oliver in his attempts to survive before producers decided to antecipate the storyline in season 2. Manu Bennett voiced his displeasure with how their feud was stripped down to just Slade’s unrequited feelings for Shado and her death.

>Sara would originally join forces with Slade on the island, and return to Starling City as Ravager before redeeming himself for Laurel. Producers ultimately decided it was more interesting to introduce Sara as the Canary to steer Laurel towards her heroic fate.

>Isabel would originally just be a corporate rival for Oliver, and was seriously considered as his next main romantic pairing. The writers removed her for a large stretch of the season to figure out whether she would be a friend or foe, and ultimately decided to make her Ravager.

>After Isabel became Slade’s loyal enforcer, Sebastian, who up until that point was meant to be completely villainous, was given a tragic backstory and a redemption arc.

>Laurel and Sebastian’s relationship would originally be a major subplot.

>Daniel Flynn would be a major character in the flashback storylines, but was removed after one episode due to the actor’s scheduling conflicts and replaced with another prisoner, Peter (the dude with cancer).

>Solomon Grundy was slated to return further down the season, but never did.

>Huntress was slated to return in the following seasons, but never did.

>There were talks about introducing Hal Jordan as an Air Force pilot stranded on Lian Yu, but the character was unavailable.

>Episode 20 would be a backdoor pilot for THE FLASH featuring Grant Gustin, but after the positive reception to his debut episode, the spinoff was ordered straight to pilot.

>The CW briefly developed a HOURMAN solo series set in the Arrowverse, in which Mirakuru provides the basis for Rex Tyler’s Miraclo pill.

>Liam McIntyre was the runner-up to play Oliver Queen alongside Stephen Amell.
>Stephen Amell was the runner-up to play Spartacus alongside Liam McIntyre

SEASON 3

>The CW briefly developed a SUICIDE SQUAD spinoff starring David Ramsey, but Warner Bros Pictures embargoed the characters due to the upcoming movie. The network then greenlit LEGENDS OF TOMORROW.

>Harley Quinn would originally be part of CW’s Suicide Squad, but was written out due to the embargo and replaced by Cupid. Allegedly, she would have a major role in season 4.

>Deadshot would be a major character in season 4’s H.I.V.E. storyline, but had to be killed off due to the embargo.

>Katana would be a major character in season 4’s H.I.V.E. storyline, but had to be written out due to the embargo.

>The writers protested to the embargo by killing off Amanda Waller, the one character from the movie that they were allowed to keep.

>Ray Palmer would originally be Ted Kord, who builds and exosuit to become the Blue Beetle. WB embargoed the character, and he was replaced by the Atom.

>Ted Grant would originally recur throughout the season and become involved with Laurel, but had to killed off due to the actor’s scheduling conflicts.

>The flashback segments would originally feature a storyline about the Great Ten, a team of black ops operatives Yao Fei was originally a member of, but it was ultimately scrapped in favor of the bioweapon storyline.

>Originally, the flashback segments would explore the origin of the Suicide Squad, but those plans were scrapped - presumably due to the embargoes and the decision to write the Suicide Squad out of the show.

>Manu Bennett heavily disliked his one episode appearance in which Slade was beaten by Thea, and declined to return for further appearances for some time.

>Colton Haynes asked to be written out of the show to seek treatment for his depression, leading to Roy taking the blame for Oliver's vigilante activities and leaving Starling City.

Attached: A-S3.jpg (791x1200, 152K)

SEASON 4

>Felicity would originally remain crippled and become the CW’s Oracle, but WB embargoed the character, so Felicity regained the ability to walk and became Overwatch instead.

>Madison Danforth was originally said to be a recurring character with a “connection” to Oliver, but never appeared outside of one episode.

>Anarky would not originally be a recurring villain, but producers enjoyed his performance enough to include him as a wildcard in Damien Darhk’s plans.

>The flashback segments returned to the island in a failed attempt to recapture the audience’s interested after the poorly-received season 3 flashbacks in China.

>The writers did not know who would be in the grave presented in the season premiere up until the midseason break, when they finally decided to kill off Laurel.

>Felicity’s mother, Donna Smoak, was originally slated to be promoted to regular. She was instead written out of the show.

>Felicity’s father, Noah Kuttler, was originally slated to recur throughout the season, but did not make a single appearance until season 6.

>Ragman was slated to recur throughout the season, but was written out halfway through as the writers were struggling with his powerset.

>The showrunners always planned for Oliver to get off the island at some point in the flashbacks, but they hadn't decided which season would be the Russia/Bratva storyline. They delayed it year after year until they finally had no choice but to do it in Season 5.

>ARROW was pitched as a five seasons show, with the series ending with Oliver being rescued from Lian Yu, bringing everything full circle, but it was ultimately decided to keep the show going and retiring the flashback segments.

Attached: A-S5.jpg (1280x1600, 261K)

>The writers protested to the embargo by killing off Amanda Waller, the one character from the movie that they were allowed to keep.
That's fucking awesome. Those embargos are stupid, but I guess WB wants to account for the stupidest people.

SEASON 6

>Caydem James would originally be the main villain of the season, but due to Michael Emerson’s scheduling conflicts, Ricardo Diaz became the main villain instead, while James was killed.

>Slade was meant to return further down the line, but never did.

>There were talks of a romantic relationship between Diggle and Dinah, but this was ultimately scrapped.

>There were plans to follow upon Talia’s search for Artemis, but this was ultimately scrapped.

We could of had Blue Beetle and a Suicide Squad? UUUUGGGGHHH

SEASON 1

>Barry would use his forensic abilities to determine his enemies’ weaknesses and defeat them. Changed so the rest of the team could have a more active role in the missions.

>Iris would be a psychology student interning at CCPD as a junior criminal profiler. Changed to be closer to the comics.

>Eddie would be a douchebag hotshot who dislikes Barry. He transferred to Central City after accidentally killing his partner and covering it up to protect his career. Changed as they thought making Barry’s rival a nice guy was a more interesting take.

>Caitlin would be older, have a past relationship with Harrison Wells, and her not-so-dead boyfriend would be Kyle Nimbus / The Mist. She was aged down due to producers wanting to cast Danielle Panabaker, and replaced Hartley in the core trio, while her fiancé was changed into Ronnie Raymond / Firestorm to be closer to the comics.

>Hartley would be part of the team, have a friendly rivalry with Cisco and would initially more concerned with salvaging his career than protecting the city. Changed to streamline the cast. Caitlin took over his role.

>Joe would be killed by the Mist in the pilot episode. Changed because Jesse L. Martin was just too awesome to waste.

>Snart and Rory would be meta-humans. Changed to be closer to the comics.

>Dr. Light would be featured as a meta-human former S.T.AR. Labs scientist seeking revenge against Wells. Hartley likely took over his role.

>Barry and Caitlin would hook up. Changed after Grant Gustin suggested they sped up the Barry/Iris relationship because nobody likes drawn-out "will-they-won't-they" storylines.

>The Eddie character would originally be named "Jay Garrick" and be unconnected to Eobard Thawne.

Attached: F-S1.jpg (950x1187, 153K)

Omg! Brick killed Ted?!
They never even mourned him!!!

SEASON 2

>Zoom would be Earth-2’s Barry Allen. Changed because the writers “fell in love” with the Jay Garrick / Hunter Zolomon twist. They still used most of E2 Barry’s original characterization for Hunter.

>Jay wouldn't be Zoom, but a roguish speedster from Earth-2 who joins forces with Barry to stop Zoom. They clash at first, but slowly become friends and Jay grows into a true hero. He would still hook up with Caitlin. Changed due to the Jay / Hunter twist.

>Patty was supposed to stick around, learn Barry’s secret identity, and join team Flash. She would’ve likely be promoted to the main cast in season 3 had the actress not been cast in another show.

>Iris would actually date her editor Scott Evans for a while, since Barry and Patty were not supposed to break up so soon.

>Ronnie was supposed to stick around, but had to be killed off and replaced by Jax when Robbie Amell couldn’t commit to LEGENDS OF TOMORROW.

>General Eiling was supposed to be a recurring antagonist for Firestorm, but was cut when Ronnie was killed and Stein and Jax moved to LEGENDS OF TOMORROW. Also because the CW mandated that some more expandable recurring characters be cut to reduce costs.

>LEGENDS OF TOMORROW was originally envisioned as having a rotating cast from season to season, so Snart and Rory were at one point supposed to come back to THE FLASH to keep assembling the Rogues.

>Mirror Master and Doctor Alchemy would be introduced as part of the Rogues storyline.

>The real Jay Garrick was originally planned to be Earth-3’s Eddie Thawne rather than Earth-3’s Henry Allen.

Attached: F-S2.jpg (2000x3000, 1.57M)

Omg thank you Grant! Will they/wont they is cancerous writing

SEASON 3

>The writers admitted they did not fully plan the season, resulting in many forgotten plot points like the S.T.A.R. Labs museum, Savitar’s plans for Jesse, the appearance of Accelerated Man, etc.

>Mirror Master and Top were meant to replace Snart and Rory as the leaders of the Rogues, but fans didn’t really respond to them, and Grey Damon was cast in a movie shortly afterwards and had to be written out, axing the New Rogues storyline.

>The Rival was at some point considered for a recurring role as Wally’s own speedster rival while Savitar would be Barry’s.

>Julian was supposed to struggle against Savitar's influence and the return of Doctor Alchemy throughout the season, but never really did after Team Flash freed him in the midseason finale.

Attached: F-S3.jpg (2399x3000, 990K)

SEASON 4

>Julian was going to be promoted to main cast in season 4 before Tom Felton ultimately decided not to return.

>Ralph and Caitlin would get together, but Danielle Panabaker objected since Caitlin had already been involved with Jay/Hunter and Julian.

>Gypsy would recur throughout the season and stay with Cisco, but had to written out when Jessica Camacho was cast in another show.

>Jesse had to be written out due Violett Beane’s other commitments, and Wally was moved to LoT shortly afterwards.

>Big Sir was supposed to return later in the season and figure into Devoe’s plans somehow, but never did.

>Tracy Brand was also supposed to return, but never did.

>Amunet was envisioned as a secondary antagonist with her own team of meta-human henchmen, but was slowly changed into more of an anti-hero with only one notable henchman, Norvok AKA Snake-Eye.

>There were rumors about a two-parter set in Earth-3, exploring Jay's backstory and introducing his mysterious female protege, but that didn't come through.

Attached: F-S4.jpg (1080x1350, 292K)

>Felicity was slated to appear in only two episodes, but became so popular...
...With the producers

SEASON 5

>Joe and Cecile's struggles to raise their newborn daughter would be a major comedic subplot which had to be scrapped when Jesse L. Martin injured his back and had to be written out for most of season 5. They sent the baby away with him and instead focusing on strengthening Cecile's bonds with the rest of Team Flash.

>The New Rogues were intended to have a major role throughout the season, but appear to have been put in the backburner in favor of the Cicada storyline.

>A deleted scene alluded to Weather Wizard reforming the Rogues with Ragdoll as his first recruit, an idea which seems to have been postponed/delayed entirely.

>Eddie was supposed to make an appearance in the 100th episode, and Hunter would've had a bigger role, but both actors had scheduling conflicts. Hunter still managed to make a cameo, though.

This is probably hard for you to believe given the show's fuckups, but Felicity actually did get stupid popular with fans and their stupidity led to her being overused on the show.

Then when people started hating it, the writers doubled down because fuck you, this is what you wanted.

SEASON 1

>The CW was originally developing a Suicide Squad spinoff starring David Ramsey, but WB embargoed the characters due to the upcoming movie.

>The CW considered several potential spinoffs, including shows about the Atom and Hawkgirl, before ultimately deciding to create an original team featuring fan-favorites from ARROW and THE FLASH.

>The series was envisioned with a rotating cast, and there were plans for several of the characters featured in season 1 to eventually return to their original shows, such as Captain Cold and Heatwave.

>The team would originally be called the Justice Society, before it was decided to save the concept for a proper adaptation further down the line.

>Ronnie Raymond was meant to join the team, but Robbie Amell could not commit, so Ronnie had to be written out and replaced by Jefferson “Jax” Jackson.

>Captain Cold died so Wentworth Miller could focus on other projects.

>Hawkman and Hawkgirl would originally stay on the team, but due to negative reception, the producers decided to write them out instead.

>Hourman was introduced as a potential new member for the team in season 2, stepping into the role previously held by Rip Hunter as the driving force behind the missions, but as season 2 took form, his role was reduced to a one episode appearance.

Attached: L-S1.jpg (1067x1600, 517K)

SEASON 2

>The series was revamped for season 2 due to negative criticism received in season 1, most notably by adding more comedic elements, writing out the Hawks and introducing the Legion of Doom.

>Rip's screen time was reduced earlier in the season due to scheduling conflicts with Arthur Darvill.

>Vixen was meant to join the team, but Megalyn Echikunwoke could not commit, so her ancestor Amaya Jiwe was created instead.

>A romance between Amaya and Ray Palmer was considered before it was decided to pair her with Nate Heywood.

>A romance subplot was also briefly considered for Mick Rory, as producers found the prospect of Mick horrified by the prospect of having tender feelings humorous.

>Wentworth Miller’s scheduling conflicts prevented Captain Cold from joining the Legion of Doom sooner.

>The Flash was meant to appear at some point, given the Reverse Flash's involvement, but never did.

Attached: L-S2.jpg (600x900, 157K)

SEASON 3

>Amaya would originally leave the show after season 2, but due to her popularity, she was brought back for season 3.

>There were plans for an episode where Amaya meets Mari, with Megalyn Echikunwoke expected to reprise her role.

>There were plans for an episode exploring the beginning of the feud between Damien Darhk and Ra’s Al Ghul, with Matt Nable expected to reprise his role.

>There were plans for an episode where the Legends visit ancient Egypt and meet Prince Khufu, Priestess Shayera and Hath-Set, with Falk Hentschel, Ciara Renée and Casper Crump expected to reprise their roles.

Attached: L-S3.jpg (1080x1350, 359K)

>led to her being overused...
...By the producers

SEASON 4

>Wally West was set to join the team, but Keiynan Lonsdale decided to pursue other projects, and the character had to be written out instead.

>Charlie was created so producers could keep Maisie Richardson-Sellers as part of the main cast without further stretching out the Amaya storyline.

Attached: L-S4.jpg (818x1200, 293K)

SEASON 1

>Alex Danvers was originally a scientist specialized in Kryptonian physiology.

>Hank Henshaw was originally Kara and Alex’s childhood friend and Alex’s ex-boyfriend, and the newly-appointed director of the DEO.

>Hank was eventually changed into a seasoned veteran and friend of Kara and Alex’s parents, but was still intended to be an antagonist until it was suggested that he be made into J’onn J’onzz.

>Astra was meant to be the main villain of the season, but Laura Benanti asked to be written out due to her commitments on Broadway, forcing producers to kill Astra and replace her with Non and his enforcer Indigo.

>Silver Banshee was meant to return, but never did.

>Maxwell Lord would originally continue as a main character, but had to be written out when production moved from Los Angeles to Vancouver for season 2.

Attached: S-S1.jpg (1000x1500, 935K)

SEASON 2

>Mehcad Brooks considered leaving the show after season 2, but producers persuaded him to stay by turning James into the Guardian so Brooks could have a more prominent, action-heavy role.

>Lena Luthor was originally morally ambiguous, before it was ultimately decided to make her genuinely good.

>A romance between Lena and Winn Schott was considered before she was ultimately paired with James Olsen.

>Snapper Carr would originally continue as a main character, but was ultimately written out to streamline the cast.

>Cyborg Superman would originally return, but was ultimately written out due to David Harewood’s intense dislike for the character.

>Jeremiah Danvers would originally return, but was ultimately written out due to scheduling conflicts with Dean Cain.

>Lyra Strayd would originally return, but was ultimately written out due to scheduling conflicts with Tamzin Merchant.

>President Olivia Marsdin was created as a stand-in for Hillary Clinton, who was expected to win the 2016 Presidential elections.
lol

>Vice-President Baker was created as a stand-in for Donald Trump and replaced Marsdin as President to reflect Trump’s victory in the 2016 Presidential elections.
How hard is it for these writers to just make an entertaining show without injecting politics into it?

They are liberals what do you expect from them?

>Lena and Kara have hot steamy sex in Lena's office

WB ruined their own show. Fuck them and their embargo

So
fucking
much
wasted potential
these people have no idea what they're doing.

>>Barry would use his forensic abilities to determine his enemies’ weaknesses and defeat them. Changed so the rest of the team could have a more active role in the missions.
Oh fuck off.

What a bunch of gay dogs.

Everyone pretends season 2 was some masterpiece, but reading this post reminded me how obvious that even back then, they had no idea what they were doing. The Isabel and Sebastian storylines were clearly 11th hour shit.

I think back during that time period WB was throwing around a Blue Beetle movie but nothing came of it.

more like gave great head.

if supergirl gained the ratings CBS was expecting it should've, how different would the arrowverse have been?

>cat grant never got to verbally take down felicity smoak.

>Anarky would not originally be a recurring villain, but producers enjoyed his performance enough to include him as a wildcard in Damien Darhk’s plans.
Fuck the producers, man. That Anarky was a fucking crime. When Beware the Batman does it better, you know you're fucked.

the whole "insanity/unpredictable is a superpower" is such a BS trope/cliche.

That's what Supergirl is all about. At least definitely not about entertainment because that shit is fucking boring as hell.

>Rick Cosnett, Jeremy Jordan, Andy Mientus, Matt Barr and Adam McKay auditioned for Barry Allen before Grant Gustin was cast.

Well Barr looks like he can put on weight and lean muscle easier than Grant, can't find McKay other than the far older director, Mientius is too thin and too dark complected for Barry.

Jordan would have been fine, but Cosnett (as people pointed out in the first season) was the huge error here and except for the fact that he looks pretty absurd in a skin tight leather suit and he's not really what I picture as any version of Barry, Grant's a decent actor, but not really a good Barry.

It would have been worthwhile for the nudity

>WB wants to account for the stupidest people.
Threadly reminder that a lot of this was Cereal Lord talking to Zack and Rovan

>“fell in love” with the Jay Garrick / Hunter Zolomon twist.
Proof positive they were idiots

>envisioned ... rotating cast from season to season, so Snart and Rory were ... supposed to come back to THE FLASH to keep assembling the Rogues.
More idiocy. LoT is a great show but didn't need to keep Rory for that.

>The real Jay Garrick was originally planned to be Earth-3’s Eddie Thawne rather than Earth-3’s Henry Allen.
sigh

>Rip's screen time was reduced earlier in the season due to scheduling conflicts with Arthur Darvill.
Sadly he should have been a casualty as well, the series worked better without him and the rest of S2 and S3 worked better with minimal to no Rory.

Best parts, no mention of Constantine in your 'gossip'

Ali Adler is an idiot, and has always been a lousy show runner

>Tyler Hoechlin and Melissa Benoist fuck in costume for hours until he nuts balls deep in her pussy repeatedly
