Ignoring how we won't really see the X-Men and FF properties make their way home yet since movies can take years to make, who would be your ideal next overarching villain for the MCU? Pic related.
Next overarching MCU villain
I raise you one better.
Yeah, I can already see that MCU movie in my mind. The sheer thrill of that scene where Dr Doom finally achieves godhood and becomes omnipotent, just like he does every year in the comic books. I can already hear the excited gasping of the Marvelfags in the theater. "Holy shit..." "Now this right here is the apex of writing..."
portrayed by Miles Teller
I feel like we'd need a proper Reed first before we get to the Maker, he'd be great for the next next phase.
We definitely need at least 2 fantastic 4 movies before we get Maker.
Based annhilus would be their best bet
well they would be cycling out characters that have been in the mcu for a long time and replacing them. as a result its become less likely they will do galactus as the previously stated problem comes down to contracts and every one eventually wants to spend their money and do stuff in the free time not stay bound to some movie studio set for the rest of their life
so without galactus anything practically is a step down from thanos with infinity gems. so maybe black heart but i want to say disney doesnt care about that property so going down the list of what they have done and whats left that would be antman level maybe titanium man. iron man is central to mcu and replacing stark officially in a movie is going to happen. there i said it. the plans get leaked like in the comics but the only major threat is titanium man and stark gets injured so he will only make a cameo or 2 in later films so robert downey jr can fucking spend his money and not live on set
>titanium man
This is oddly specific.
But just think Tommy this time it will be in digital, won't it be splendid!
I think they should take a break from the big cosmic level threats for a while since who ever they pick would inevitably be compared to Thanos. Some overarching villains based on earth would probably be a better move for the next Avengers movie. I hope Doom and Latveria play a big role in the MCU going forwards. I can see lots of potential for him to show up on all sorts of movies even if it's just as a cameo. They could also introduce Norman Osborn in the third Spider-Man movie and use him as basically the MCU's version of Lex Luthor.
Phase 4: Osborn/Dark Reign.
Phase 5: Magneto/AvX.
Phase 6: Doom/Secret Wars.
i'd love to see the sentry worked into a phase or two and for him to be the big bad at the end.
Meh, he achieved godhood only two times? Or do I forget more?
Though Doom is best when he is dealing with smaller problems which he can't brute force. Shows all his flaws perfectly.
Why not introduce alternate universes instead?
Remember that Thanos wasn't the Phase 4 villain. He was the Arc 1 villain. The 22 films that make up Phases 1,2 and 3 are Arc 1. Arc 2 should be Galactus. Though Doom should be the Phase 5 villain after we've had some build up.
Give Doom and Reed hot actors so they can become the next Stony
It should be Kang The Conqueror.
>"Doctor Doom"? Was Professor Death taken?"
I can see the quips now.
Doom and Spidey are good together. Sadly I lost the picture where Doom says that he has a special place for people who call him Vic.
Annihilation wave?
Doom and Galactus are the obvious ones. Has Marvel Studios got the Ghost Rider rights back yet? If so then we could see Mephisto and Black Heart. Doctor Strange probably has some crazy alternate dimension enemies they could use as well but I'm not familiar with his villains so can't name any. With X-Men in the mix that could possibly mean we get Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix in the distant future when everybody has forgotten the Fox versions.
>I think they should take a break from the big cosmic level threats for a while since who ever they pick would inevitably be compared to Thanos.
This. It's why I could see them doing Dark Reign next.
It'd be a big threat but of a completely different kind.
Shuma Gorath is the only true choice after the avatar of death
Fuck Reed, skip his hero FF shit and go straight to Maker
Or simply use Maker as the movie villain and have his whole good persona be in a flashback or narration. Its not like Richards was anything but the single most boring superhero anyway.
It would be so easy to lead into him too. He could be some future ruler from one of the failed timelines that looked into the one timeline where Thanos failed to kill half the universe.
Precisely. Though the stakes in Winter Soldier, for example, were quite high, they weren't as high at the world ending ones in Age of Ultron, and yet we know which one is more beloved as a film overall. Smaller stakes involving Doom, Norman, Masters of Evil, etc. can work out extremely well. They should round back to Galactus and cosmic stuff after a phase or two and, if Thanos survives Endgame, have him team up with the heroes to stop him.
Ghost Rider was in Agents of Shield so I would say yes.
Doom for new Loki
Kang for new Ultron
Annihilus and Annihilation for new Infinity War
Would it piss off comic fans or be bad if they made Reed and Doom the new Thor and Loki, i.e. hero and villain that were once extremely close and have a layered relationship where the past friendship occasionally shines through?
OMNIPOTENCE
Introduce him in Doctor Strange 2 or Black Panther 2.
APEX OF WRITING
>Doctor Strange 2 involves Strange intervening with Doom attempting to bargain with Mephisto.
I’d watch it. Have Doom played by Michael Fassbender and Mephisto by Tom Waits they could also introduce ghost rider if they wanted.
What if Doom gaining godhood is needed in order to stop Galactus when he begins devouring and comes knocking on Earth's door (and the snap somehow released Galactus from some prison or whatever), and Thanos is in the mix too as an uneasy ally of the heroes. Seems like kino to me.
That sounds horrible. Also nebula is killing thanos in endgame.
What about Dormammu?
>killing off daddy Thanos after just two movies
The injustice...
>the futurist Tony Stark (only like a 2 minute cameo) retires iron man puts his trust in a young Reed Richards to continue working for tomorrow.
>Tony partially funds the Fantastic 4
>Reed fills the role of tony as “Smart Guy”
>slowly becomes autistically reclusive and obsessed with his work that he and the F4 lose their funding and the team is disbanded.
>Boom, Tony gets exploded by Reed as a preventative measure similar to what happened in ultimate fantastic 4.
>Reed (now the Maker) builds his future utopia time capsule thing
I really want the Maker in the mcu now.
Kang
I like the idea of the Fantastic Four being from the 60's to be honest. Use the FF for 60's kino, Captain Britain for 80's kino. Any suggestions for 70's?
I’m not a fan of time travelling fantastic 4z we already had captain America. Nobody wants to see a full movie about 4 unrelatable characters going “golly gee, things are so different now. We had a black president?!?!!” It sounds boring.
Then do a time jump to a month later where they are acclimatized to the modern world but still a product of the 60's. They did do 'Gee, this runs on electricity!?!' banal shit with Cap either yet he was still clearly a man out of time.
The nuclear family type feel isn’t very exciting.
But why?
The fantastic four are all about the future. How the hell isn't a group of rock star scientists who did a risky venture that mutated them entirely relevant to our current age of privately funded space travel and brands that want you to think they're people?
If it's set in modern times I'd prefer Richards to be a peer of Stark, not another youngster he mentors and bankrolls. Doesn't feel right if he isn't standing with Cap, Stark, Strange, Panther, etc. as an equal.
Good point desu.
> Human anatomy
Annihilation Wave would be the best filler similar to Ultron bridging the gap between Avengers and Infinity War.
Have the looming supervillain for the peak conflict reveal be Doom, similar to Thanos in phase 1.
You can fix that with dialogue though. Just have reed break down exactly how Tony’s suit works to him just at a glance. That will prove his is smarter than Tony and can hold his own with the rest of the group. I don’t want an older Reed because I want to see a transition to the Maker, which can only happen to a young reed without much real life experience.
Maker's the kind of villain who they'll probably use for a TV series. "Evil Reed Richards from another universe who turned evil because he got cucked" doesn't scream entry level to fans.
I just hope they go with gleeful mad scientist like Ewing and Cates write and not boring jilted turbo nerd like Hickman's original version
>Mephisto and Black Heart.
Not family-friendly enough for the MCU.
I'd intro Doctor Doom in Black Panther 2 as a revolutionary in Latveria overthrowing a US-backed dictator.
T'Challa has to deal with sensitive and complex geopolitics because why else would we have him rule a fictional country if we don't do that?
I have this awful feeling that they will style Reed after Elon Musk
It's called toning it down.
>OMG DOOM IS THE BEST VILLAIN EVER
>N-NO THE BEST VILLAIN EVER YHE MAKET BASED
So, Yea Forums is pretty much limited to Hickman, right? This board doedn't know any other writer.
Mephisto might be a little on the nose (though they could just give him a human form) but there's no reason they can't do Blackheart
I love this page
You know I bet if the MCU did this (because they can now), people here would hate it
Mephisto can just be a red guy in a red suit.
You just know Blackheart will be meme'd as an evil hedgehog or evil Sonic if he looks like his comic self.
I remember when people thought they wouldn't give Hela the helmet or that they wouldn't make Ego a living planet or that nobody would take a purple grapefruit man seriously too.
Oh and of course, there's no way they would do Mysterio with his fishbowl helmet. That's too silly.
True. They should and probably will make Blackheart look like Blackheart but he'll be meme'd here and there just like Thanos was with those Homer or Grimace edits.
Consider the following.
Would be cool if they tie him into Secret Invasion like Avengers: EMH did.
A Secret Invasion phase would be pretty cool, especially if Disney continues some episode based supers with their stream service to coincide with the film buildup.
Played by Kat Dennings.
Kang is the best chouce if we want to take a break from an outer space break.
Ramma Tut appearing in a F4 might be a good idea to set him up.
They could also bring Iron Lad to replace Iron Man's role, thought if they are going with a younger Reed, it might not be the best idea
The thing with Doom and Latveria is they can't just appear out of knowhere. You would have to make it so that they have been there for a while just watching and waiting in the background kinda like Wakanda. So assuming they go for a younger Fantastic Four how would Doom know Reed? He would be pretty busy ruling Latveria and spying on the world in secret so when would they have crossed paths?
The F4 was active during Hank Pym's day as antman. Then they disappeared. A space travel incident that returned them to the 2020s, barely aged.
Latveria is a neighbor to Sokovia. Doom slowed his aging using magic. Latveria annexes Sokovia after Civil War.
Green Goblin/Norman when? Or even Hobgoblin?
I'm really hoping Norman is the villain in the next Spider-Man movie after Far From Home. I know people don't want to see Green Goblin again but honestly it's never really been done in a comic accurate way. Plus the only time it was actually good (or at least fun) was in the first Raimi movie. Osborn deserves another chance and he could be so much more than just a Spider-Man villain. He could threaten all of the earth based Avengers.
>The thing with Doom and Latveria is they can't just appear out of knowhere.
No one is going to let this small hole get in the way of FF, Doom, or Latveria. They're autistic about a lot of things at Marvel Studios but not to the point that autism will get in the way of a really good story and new characters and stuff.
Have him be the Iron Patriot at first (really hammer home the anti-Tony Stark gimmick) and do Dark Reign before Norman is BTFO, has a descent into madness and desperation, and resurfaces as fucking crazy and chaotic Green Goblin.
It's a shame Dormammu got shrugged off
please no, just give the FF to brad bird and let him do what he does best. They wouldn't be able to do edgy maker properly so lets just see what doom can be
What are the chances of them bringing Ultron back at some point? All they would need to say is he stored his consciousness somewhere and the Avengers didn't know about it. He could create himself a new body more similar to the comics and his humiliating defeat could make him more cold and vengeful.
Maybe if they do a villain team up movie with shit like Masters of Evil/Dark Avengers. Just do something a bit different if they bring him back.
This might be a weird choice but I can see Ultron making a good villain for Ant-Man 3. You could have Hank Pym discover his consciousness somewhere and start talking to him. They could bond over their hatred of Stark and Pym could build him a new body (like the comic design). Of course Ultron would betray Pym and it would be down to Ant-Man and Wasp to stop him. I also think for it to work he would have to be locked into the one body. Maybe his goal is to start manufacturing copies of himself again and that's what they are trying to stop him from doing. Would be a nice nod to the comics though where Pym was the one that created him as well as a soft reboot for Ultron setting him up for future appearances.
