In the end he's late, and is subsequently not hired, disappointing Minnie.
However shortly after this, he's approached by everyone he's helped for a position at their business; prompting Minnie to give him a big kiss.
Cue the screen closing in on Mickey's face, with him saying to the camera a pun related to work or business.
