There's Winx
I watched that as a young leaf.
This. If anybody can name something else that isn't made by Rainbow, I'd love to know.
Too busy making pizza, stealing money and fucking thots

Kudos for someone uploading the dub just recently!
I had a crush on Pinky Pick when I was a kid
Italians make lots of stop motion horror films. They're the same people who make those crazy Carnevale floats, so I'm not surprised.
Seriously, go look up some videos, they're insane.
From what I know, italians like to make their own openings to foreign cartoons. Often they look like some kind of amv. I especial like their Dragon Ball intros.

Here's a really old music video for an italian band's song
I assume the animation was made there too

Yeah that's about right. Pic related Cristina D'Avena is a celebrity who built her entire career singing cartoon openings in the '80s.

5:40 Ok that was heartfelt.
It's funny to think how us Italians and other Europeans have songs to associate equity cartoons that weren't originally supposed to have any, like BTAS or the '90s Hulk show
Ok where's part 2? did they just get lured in by a ghost just to get trapped there for nothing? Isn't the ghost's body going to come alive?
They often basically are, and while they can be nice and sound good enough, almost always barely follow the events of the series in the actual lyrics, if at all
For example the Dragon Ball Z opening basically tells in a relatively “purple prose” way the events of the Sayan arc, but that same opening was used for the whole length of the series, so you would have the episodes of the Buu arc with the opening talking about Goku finding out about his past and dying
That is, if the opening follow the theme and style of the series at all, since some time you have cases like Batman and Slayers (renamed “A spell disclosed between the petals of time for Rina”) where the opening doesn’t fit at all

Also they tend to often use English words out of nowhere
I meant "to associate with cartoons"
Totò Sapore is closest thing to a typical Disney-ish movie i can think of that was made here
more like a chinese knockoff
Friendly reminder that Italy made anime real
>ctrl+f
>Cinderella the cat
>no results
While I love a lot of. Thing that shave been posts, this is really something different for Italian anination: a full length animated movie set in a distopian future Naples that basically follows Cinderella's story but if it was a cop drama.
Higly recommended
>a full length animated movie set in a distopian future Naples
That only reminds me of the recent Celentano disaster. But you're right that it looks peculiar, I'll check it out if i can find it online
Some time ago I stumbled upon Cocco Bill. Seeing the unusual gestures of the characters was a dead giveaway of its origin country. Here's a playlist of about 100 episodes with English dub.

Think of it as a warning about the danger of space thots.
Daft Punk's Interstella 5555 is said to have been inspired by this and is a complete album-movie.
animation is not really our strong point. better comics.
Enzo D'Alò did quite a few neat things back in the 90s- early 00s.
I used to watch some of his works when i was a kid and i remember that liked them a lot.
How can you forget this classic?
what's with the living salami all over the place
Well... I guess it could be because a lot of creators are emerging from southern Italy, and Naples is usually thought at a a city-wide Bronx, so settings stories there gives the heroes more obstacles to overcome.
But yeah it's not at all like Celentano's abort. There are gangsters, but they're more realistic and dangerous.
Jacovitti (the original author of the comic) loves absurdist humor.
Think about Sam & Max's backgrounds X 1000
True, but I think we should invest in making known what we've done and in doing better.
Honestly, I have few hopes.
Just watch the new Winx season

Mot.
The Mot cartoon was French, but the original comic was Italian. Its a comic I have been meaning to read. The creator also did Lorna, an adult scifi series.
I was prepared, but it doesn't make it any better. However derivative, early Winx Club had real charm. Those character designs are awful, especially the guys - Fucking hell, they're horrifying. I'd ask where my girls the Trix are, who are about the only thing that's made the show tolerable for me in recent years, but I think they're probably better off sealed away in another dimension rather than suffering that redesign.
It's a shame. World of Winx, even with its absolutely batshit insane trend-riding storyline, actually gave me a tiny bit of hope. I felt like it was at least a successful modernisation/alternate take on the character designs and was more enjoyable than Season 7 by a long way. But I think this is where Winx Club and I might finally have to part ways.
While we're talking Winx, anyone been to the 15 years of Winx exhibition at the WOW museum in Milan? I'd like to go, I have no shame and there's apparently original production artwork, which I'd very much like to see since so little of it has been made publicly available. Don't think I'm going to be able to afford to go, but I might make it right at the end.
museowow.it
I think that Winx worked well for S1-S3. The characters design was cute and fun. Starting from S4 become more and more generic.
it's because the original cinderella story, along with a buch of now popular fairy tales, ws first written down by neapolitan writer Gianbattista Basile, who collected a bunch of southern italy fairytales.

that's actually the most watched italian cartoon ever, supposedly

They (along with North Korea) gave us the beauty that is the Legend of the Titanic: youtube.com
Does anyone remember Opopomoz? I feel like i liked it as a kid but i barely have any recollection of it other than ads
Redpill me on Winx.
Is the series any good?
this is best used as porn
no one mentioned Corto Maltese?
Everything we make for kids is a collaboration with the French / Brits and it's all low budget garbage anyway.
Italy is nepotism central and allergic to innovation so the best we can do is pic related
>28 million euros
Of course not. It's a cheap ripoff of a show with a similar name that Yea Forums doesn't like to talk about.
That is from a Nord Corean studio not Italian one
Dr commodore
Get out
Basically an Italian guy put a load of popular sci-fi and fantasy fiction in a blender and then added sexy magical girls. They're fairies. They go to magic school. Their boyfriends are basically Jedi. They fight existential threats to the universe, usually some kind of dark lord, or witches, or both. It has become a multi-media titan and conquered the world. Despite the fact they're probably raking in billions, sadly the animation and the writing seems to always be getting cheaper and lazier.
The music is great (at least it is in Italian). The girls are cute. Like says Seasons 1-3 can probably be said to be genuinely good, after that ymmv.
Nobody reply to 106586667. Nobody ask why if you don't know, just don't do it. We are talking about Italian cartoons here, not Italian comics or non-Italian cartoons and he is an attention whore who will just derail the thread.
I'm more interest about the footage of early concept of Winx, I don't think they will show the lost pilot but at least we have (sort of) the intro and designs of the characters in color.

>first written down by neapolitan writer Gianbattista Basile, who collected a bunch of southern italy fairytales.
Didn't know that! Really cool! Holy hell I just remembered watching it in my classroom as a child, but I don't have any memory of it
Not really.
I have watched some of those co-productions on cartoonito ao boing when I had time to kill and some of those aren't that bad.
They're not anything to write home about but can be charming if you're a little child

i watched this when i was young, i remember the theme being better than it actually is

animated cooking show, honestly it's not that bad if you want to learn a few dish to cook, decent humor
>kiwi e arturo
I remember those, I watched them back in high school.
There it is
Pensavo che quella canzone esistesse solo per quelle suonerie-scherzo sceme che stavano sempre in pubblicità
It's got some kind of vaporwave vibe to it
funky
I've only skimmed a bit to get the feel of the movie, it looks lovely, great VA work too
where online can I watch adrien? I keep hearing about the shitstorm but have never even seen a clip of it.
Huntik, just google it and get dissaponted.
>Season 8
Good grief.
The animation doesn't look as awful but still...
too bad World of Winx was canned, it had some potential
I also bumped into this once. Something about guardian angels and "guardian devils". Those are some seriously slutty outfits.
Is the comic in English anywhere?
I've seen the episodes on an italian torrents site, Google "adrian s01e01" and you'll probably find it
Thing is it's only those first two episodes that aired on TV, the show was immediately cancelled and i don't think there have been any news yet about a proper, complete release
Someone subbed the episode, check the archive.
the cartoon is an adaption of Jacovitti's comics, and he was known for making the stories up as he went without storyboard or script, so when he was stuck thinking how to make the story go, he would procrastinate filling panels with random shit like salami, hands, bones and small animals.
There's also Aida Degli Alberi. It's not very good.
youtube.com
As a palate cleanser, Guido Manuli did a bunch of animated shorts. "+1 -1" is absolutely fantastic. (It starts off a little slow with the newscaster bit, and the proper story picks up about 45 seconds in btw.)

"Incubus" is another good one by him:

Does this count as animation?
But that's French animation....
I liked that series, the plot was more interesting than the Winx trash.
>the original comic was Italian
It was Spanish.
