I think comics are niche enough that someone knowing about Court of Owls and Metal but not knowing which writer wrote what is pretty unbelievable.

So you're saying King made up a story about getting shit on for his writing?

Totally disagree. Normies care about the events for potential future movies to talk to friends about.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

i disagree. I read comics all the time and dont fuckin know who writes anything. Absolutely terrible with names.

Personally when I read comics (admittedly not often) I don't pay much mind to the writer unless it's an ongoing bit or if I'm specifically looking for more of that writing.

Do you think that a guy known to write about male protagonists that are insecure, depressed, and traumatized and constantly think about suicide only to later find the perfect woman that exist sorely to save their sorry existence would be able to lie about being shat by a random UBER for being a terrible writer in order to gain attention and pat in the backs?

And that will be the only thing Tom King’s run is talked about after everything is done. It is literally more worthless than Dan Slott’s ASM.

Tom King reminds me of my annoying teenage little sister who always come to me complaining about someone i don't know and don't give a fuck about being mean to her just so i can snuggle with her and tell her they're wrong and she's awesome. It's just that he's a grown ass and that's unbecoming of him.

Who the fuck talks to anyone in an Uber

>Court of Owls
Not as niche, they've popped up in a lot of Batman media lately.
>Metal
More likely. You'd think anybody who unironically liked that event would know the name of the writer, but people are idiots I guess.

It's the Grim Knight that gives away his bullshit.

I read them often, yet remember no author names, aside from memes like Bendis, and even with those I don't always remember all the series they did

Completely glossed over that, but yes, even more so.

Honestly the only reason I know who's writing Spiderman is because every one made a big deal after Slott left.

Oh man, nothing worse than being stuck with a fan who is also a casual. Damn poor King

Slot at least gave us spiderverse and Superior as his legacy, what does King have?

This never happened

My least favorite pity tactic from King is the constant self-deprecation. It's not even actually self-aware, just generic "lol I write silly comics ecks dee" tweets.

Gotham Girl is worse than Alpha

You are one lucky kid

At least he's not Tony Hawk.

Attached: hawk.png (620x557, 62K)

Two more Superman pastiches to throw into the ever growing pile.
That one page of Catwoman effortlessly dispatching three Flashes.

For the longest time I thought Scott Snyder and Zack Snyder were the same person and wondered what a sweet gig he had to be both a comic book writer and a movie director

I'm sure the Hawkster gets recognised all the time, it's just not interesting to him or to his followers to tell them about the 10 times some kid approached him that day.

Catwoman's sidekick taking Batman out like the little bitch that he is, because apparently Catwoman's a master-assassin (that never killed) and her sidekick is just as good as she is (which makes her way better than Batman at... everything).

While Snyder will be remembered better than King and liked for his Detectice run before the New 52 I still think his New 52 Batman run would not be so long lasting of it wasn’t for Capullo

That time Catwoman sneaked out of bed, broke into a high end dress shop, stole a dress, TRUDGED THROUGH THE SEWERS, then sneaked back into bed all without her fiance, the world's greatest detective and also a paranoid ninja, ever knowing.

I know a couple names but not most writers.

Snyder I know just because I want to stay away.

I can't think of any "iconic" run held up entirely by the merits of its writing, without strong art to compliment it.

Or when Batman and his "Suicide Squad" went to confront Bane, which resulted in Bane beating the ever living shit out of Batman and breaking his back again, utterly defeating him, but for some reason Catwoman was able to take Bane out with a single kick revenge. She even broke Bane's back with it.

Hard disagree I've been on Yea Forums for near a decade and I can barely name any writer or artist.

I don’t disagree I just mean I think Capullo was the bigger pull to most people. He’s got a very appealing style that’s unique but accessible. It’s not like Morrison who had several different artists and mostly retained the same readership regardless of who was drawing during his Batman run.

People have different standards than you and different levels of enjoyment of a product? They're idiots!

another wasted dubs for the Things That Never Happened

I refuse to believe you.

I like Geoff John's story when he was buying cereals better, that one was kind of funny.

Nah even with that I rather be Tony Hawk than Tom King.

Nigga, you've no idea of how much stupid shit has gone down in King's run. Like i don't even mind any of the shit that was been posted in the thread anymore. If King decide to show Catwoman punching God in a future issue i won't even do double-take, because nothing will ever top the stupidity of what happened in the 'The War of Jokes and Riddles'. It was... i don't even have words. It's mind-boggingly stupid.

Care to share friend? For nostalgia?

hell no, I only really hear about author gossip on Yea Forums. I pay more attention to the artist's names when I actually read comics.

My little brother used to refer to Tony Hawk, the person, as "Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2" and I would have to remind him that was the name of the second game and that Tony Hawk's name was just Tony Hawk. But he kept doing that shit until he was 8.

>He was not impressed but I got the milk anyways.
I refuse to believe this didn't happen.

What else do you do with your sister? Asking for a friend

It's all true

I honestly never really thought too much about who wrote the comics I read until I was in college.

I can believe someone who isn't super plugged in to stupid Internet shit wouldn't know.

I usually don't know who writes or does the art especially when they make it hard to see.

Get this, the Joker and the Riddler were tearing Gotham apart with their gang war and as per usual in King's run Batman had no fucking clue what to do to fix the situation other than feeling sorry for himself and banging Catwoman in sme rooftop for emotional comfort while people died left and right. Eventually Batman get so desperate because he's such an enormous pussy that he actually take a fucking machete - i'm not kidding here - and tries to stab Riddler with with it. The one to stop him is the Joker, who place his own hand in the blade to stop the hit. So because of this... this happened ages ago, by the way, Batman is telling this story to Catwoman all depressed like as to why she might not want to marry him after learning this terrible dark incident from his past. Anyway, after this happened Batman put in his head as a goddamn moron that now this means that the Joker made him a hero. The Joker's his actual fr goddamn real mentor. Then he finish his tale feeling sorry for himself and expecting Catwoman's rejection from the get-go. Because Catwoman won't want to marry him after knowing that he tried to kill someone and the Joker stopped him. Becoming his... mentor or some shit. That what the whole highly advertise long-running arc was all about. Batman thought Catwoman wouldn't marry after learning that the Joker's senpai.

I couldn't believe i had read such stupidity. I just fucking couldn't. The whole thing began with Batman promising to tell Catwoman this dark past he was harboring and that could threaten their relationship and possible marriage. The backdrop being this huge gang war between the Joker and the Riddler. DC hyped this up as the next Year One tale. And it goddamn ended on this big wet-fart about some retardation about Batman believing the Joker's his savior or some shit for stopping him from machetting Riddler's head off.

This is the highly praised Batman run.

Attached: file.png (1080x1350, 1.28M)

It's not nearly as unbelievable as someone loving Court of Owls.

Attached: DeepHomelyAmerican.gif (240x240, 253K)

Wrong, I remember first noticing a writer and wanting to find more of their stuff when Grant Morrison started writing JLA when I was in like 7th grade and barely ever used the Internet.

Sorry for some reason I thought you said you can’t belive they would know

Nope.
Nope, nope, nope.
Fuck this shit.

I'm sorry, user, but now it is canon that the Joker "made" Batman. Bruce is Batman and a hero right now thanks to the Joker. Because when it counted, the Joker stayed Bruce's hands. Bruce now owns to the Joker the man he is. This is canon. The Joker was Bruce's savior and greatest mentor.

You can thank King for that.

Attached: Batman-32-spoilers-5.jpg (1988x3056, 926K)

In my experience, lots of casuals seem to like Court of Owls.

That's the stupidest comics-related thing I've ever heard, and I hope it's never topped.

Attached: 1468276077268.jpg (497x719, 72K)

My eyes glazed over halfway through reading that.
Dunno which is worse. The story or that awful cg poser art.

Crazy thing is, it's true. The machete, the Joker — all of it. It's all true.

Attached: file.png (1200x800, 780K)

Nope.
I refuse to acknowledge it.

Come on, user. This is a serious and psychological award-winning comic run. Don't make slight of it. See how Batman's suffering now that he spilled his darkest secret to Catwoman. The drama. The suspense.

Attached: file.png (935x981, 874K)

>Kite Man
Oh yeah, he was responsible for that too.

DC: We want Bendis, but like if Bendis hated himself more than anything else in the world.
King: Say no more.

Oh, Tom King also changed the no-killing rule to be associated with something truly ridiculous.

He created Viv Vision and Kite Man. Good enough for me.

>He created Kite Man
Based retard

Right?

Yes.

And yes.

>He created Kite Man
I can't tell if you're baing ironic or not but he certainly didn't.

See, that's the thing. I don't think we're that lucky. King is padding his run so it'll be 100 issue long. King definitely wants to leave his mark on Batman in any way possible. If not with a lengthy run no one else can top, then with some truly retarded ideas. We're... what, in the 60 mark right now?

So he'll definitely top that retardation. This whole thing leaves me baffled. How can DC let this writer just shit all over Batman? How can comic news sites praise this shit to hell and back? Does anything even read this shit? I did and i had to tap out because i was getting a brain-aneurisma.

I don't even know what to expect, but it'd be fucking stupid. It's guaranteed. For example, he has been hinting that he will actually resurrect Batman's parents with a Lazarus pit.

>Dunno which is worse. The story or that awful cg poser art.
Why not both?

>If not with a lengthy run no one else can top, then with some truly retarded ideas.

Jack Kirby, Neal Adams, Joe Kubert, look upon Janin with envy! He does 1/10 of your workload and gets paid better for it, you hacks!

king on suicide watch

court of owls and metal both have unique enough look to stick out and be memorable

Tom King can only "Create" garbage

Oh yeah that story makes the Riddler all edgy or something too, right?

Reminder that the reason Batman exist and the reason he doesn't ever kill is because Bruce is a big proponent on suicide. He believes that death is something a person must choose for herself, not something a person impose on another. Suicide is important for Bruce because when he was 10 years old he tried to kill himself, but once he realized he was all alone with his pain and that there was no God to rescue him, he decided to only metaphorically "kill" himself and become a new being that could act as he wished God could: to be there for everyone in their moment of pain to rescue them. Since then Bruce hasn't existed anymore and Batman is suicide.

So he doesn't kill because he only believes in suicide.

Attached: Batman 012 (2017) (2 covers) (Digital) (Zone-Empire).cbr-Batman (2016-) 012-010.jpg (3975x3056, 2.56M)

This. Hell the idea of actually meeting someone in real life who's read enough Batman to know all those comics together is utterly surreal outside of Yea Forums

that's what I thought, I could believe it for Court of Owls but he included Metal and Grim Knight so definively King's making up it

Attached: 20190323_095853.jpg (448x340, 81K)

Casuals don't look at writers.

this is cool. where can i read this?

No, it isn't. Shut up.

Fuck off King.

just checked it. no longer cool. "i am batman. i am suicide"

fuck off with that dumb shit. believing no man has a right to take anothers life is something you can play w. same w batmans killing his kid self. but him being suicide is gay

i was led astray

Well I thought the reason was because a multiversal dragon wanted to use him as a peephole into reality so he could drag it all into his dark multiverse with the help of edgy fanfic batmen, but hey what do I know about comics

The biggest problem is with Batman cherishing the idea of suicide. For example, the reason why Batman's so into Catwoman is because he recognizes in her eyes the kind of excruciating pain that would drive someone to end their life, and since she's not a fucking corpse but instead another freak that decided to dress herself as a furry creature he believes she's just like him: another person that "killed" herself to become new another being. He even equates their love-making sessions as them sharing their dates like some edgy teen.

That's why in a part of the run he couldn't believe that she had killed anyone despite her being incarcerated for it and he lacking any proof to back his assumption. All because he was sure that she held the same belief as him on death: that you don't take a life because death is a choice. Suicide is the only way.

So the romance is all about two suicidal freaks being weird together.

Attached: Batman 012 (2017) (2 covers) (Digital) (Zone-Empire).cbr-Batman (2016-) 012-011.jpg (3975x3056, 1.67M)

their relationship has always been built on them understanding the kinds of things that gotham does and being of that sadness but it was also about fighting it, beating it internally, and then trying to help other people beat it. this is supposed to be a relationship between heroic icons from the dark city, from gotham, understanding gotham, but better than gotham(w batman helping catwoman rise completely above and catwoman keeping him from going completely emo), not violent emos who are sad all the time. this kind of edgy shit is just cheap af. batman is better than this

Well, Batman has to be teared down so that they can justify the romance. You can't elevate a woman without being sexist.

I mean the fact that he actually got recognized for himself and that he was acknowledged as famous at one time is pretty decent and I don't see what is so sad about it

It would be weird for people to constantly know what Tony Hawk looks like at all stages of his life

It was good. The ending though was eh

it's probably more to do with how the activity he's famous for has largely died out.

Yeah this was way too specific to be a real conversation.
Hes just looking for internet sympathy and everyone to retweet him saying "OMG NO TOM YOU'RE THE BEST BATMAN WRITER PLZ NOTICE ME!!"

>things that never happened

Maybe he just buys TPs and overhears news?
Also inb4 king develops PTSD from this too

>30 minutes for this

I mean its not like hes done anything to keep himself famous. Boomers will still know who he is.

Thirty minutes for an entire page. I'm sorry I should have specified.

Getting confused for Lance Armstrong is no longer a good thing.

Also, someone not putting it together that you're that famous guy while holding the passport with your name in it sounds like a kick to the balls.

More like Tom Lying

The TSA thing isn't that surprising. His ID doesn't say "Tony Hawk." It says "Anthony Hawk," and a lot of people wouldn't make the connection.

JMS' run on Spider-Man (pre Sins Past).

It deservedly gets a ton of praise, but JRJR's art is mostly just ok in it.

The majority of Snyder's run was crap, but CoO was actually great, especially the beginning.

>(pre Sins Past).
>It deservedly gets a ton of praise
Wasn't The Other before Sins Past?

spider totems

Are americans really that dumb?

You’ll never understand the based mind of a complete normie,

I know about court of 9wls, metal and the wedding but have no clue who wrote what.

I can't be the only one who dropped this run during the Gotham Girl and Gotham Boy arc. It was so fucking stupid and so god damn boring.

Which was a shame, what the fuck happened to King? Omega Men was great, Grayson was fucking awesome, then he finally gets to become to top dog at DC with a major event and a Batman 100 issue run, and they are both just awful.

Not as dumb.

all the people replying to you saying they don't know who writes what reminds me that Yea Forums is a hive mind and aren't worthy of actual discussions abou comics

Name substitutes aren’t taught in school here.

Not true. I didn't start checking who the writers were until I started reading DC (I previously read only Marvel).

He went the way of Jeph Loeb. A close family member of his died, had a mental breakdown, and then went back to work writing.

Fucker deserves ALL of the shit he gets.

Attached: 0 Dollars.jpg (600x597, 20K)

King has produced the best piece of Batman media of the decade so even if some of his stuff is garbage he still deserves to be remembered.

Attached: context where were going we dont need CONTEXT.jpg (1988x3056, 1.16M)

You're not wrong, which makes it all the more baffling as to how the rest of his run is such garbage

I'm convinced this was a fluke or someone helped him

Someone helped him. I'm pretty sure that there's an interview somewhere (possibly even in the issue) where King mentions that it was originally supposed to be campy and someone suggested the noire aspect to him. That or I have it backwards and originally he was going to do a completely grimdark serious noire story and someone suggested he add a bit more levity.

That's me though

It was likely the latter.

King's original idea was grimdark and edgy and I think the artist told them to just do noire.

You are a meme and deserve King's vomit.

The Dark knight returns comic art is pretty ugly

Lewd?

Same thing that always happens when you become top at the Big 2. People stop telling you that your ideas are stupid.

I'm gonna do that shit until I'm 80

Court of Owls is popular amongst casuals because it's easily marketable. Say you wanna start reading Batman, where do you begin? Why, of course with a comic with a huge-ass "Batman #1" on the cover, the one that's praised by a lot of people too. If that "Batman #1" issue was about Kite-Man or Bat-Mite, it would be popular too.

The art is different compared to other cape books, but it's good.

No, it's after Sins Past. It's also not a bad arc at all.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe all those people are here for the cartoons?

I dropped it like it was made of molten lava after his OC Superman pastiche beat the entire Justice League by himself.

Careful, they get mad when you call them out on being a hivemind.

All you're doing with posts like this is telling everyone you're an autistic powerlevelfag.

>Fuck you for wanting things to be consistently written and make logical sense
Sure thing, Tom.

Nice falseflag, Tom.

Wanna know how I know you're underage?

Please regale me with how you "know" things that aren't true.

Attached: 35484792305.gif (268x270, 3.23M)

Add to that quoting Knightmare Batfleck (although that may be because of based Mann, but having Batman being too much pussy to finish exhausted horse, or worse to even fucking get in that situation here they have to travel desert on horse, rather than flying there in Batplane.

This is like a nightmare with no end.

Attached: king uber.png (640x425, 45K)

This is reason why Grant Morrison (who I am not biggest fanboy of, but he really knows what's up) was against Red Hood II.
This is where "Batman never EVER kills" shit leads character. Unless it's silly Silver Age-Bronze Age (partly) comics that don't take itself too seriously.

>that page
and then joker hit batman with the rasengan rgiht?

i thought edgy, angsty shit like this worn out its welcome long ago

Reminder that the multiversal dragon was originally a pile of hyper-adaptive goo that Darkseid kept in his garage, before releasing it to hunt Batman through time, before it bonded with Dr. Hurt, but then ended up in the "dark multiverse" and hyper-adapted into a god of darkness, who can be summoned by singing NANANAANANANANANNA BATMAN.

All Weeks. Reminder that King wanted Elmer Fudd to be a random serial killer, before Weeks stopped him and said that was dumb as shit.

This is so stupid. I love it.

By your logic I Am Gotham would be just as loved, and it definitely isn't

Some people just follow characters, i started caring about creator involvement less than ten years ago

Wouldn’t surprise me. Tom King’s fetish is misery.

I thought said dragon was defeated by singing that, and that it was summoned via the Court of Owls pouring Metal on him?

It did. DiDio and friends just didn't get the memo or decided to ignore it.

Is this meant to be fanservice for girls?
Why an entire panel dedicated to an unattractive nipple? For what purpose? This art is disgusting. Bruce's face is ugly.
Is it just me or does he looks like that greasy guy from the Charlie's Angel movie?

Because Tom King is especially garbage.
