to serve as a warning against interacting with sociopaths regardless of their age and gender.

His entire point is spelled out with their first episode, they try to play the Eds into thinking they're just misunderstood outcasts. When they show their true colors the point made is never eat from the hand that will strangle you with a grin.
Unlike Sarah or Kevin or even the later more sinister Jimmy who Eddy often tried to outwit a point made about the Kankers when the Eds crossed their path was just not to play their game. Exemplified with one of Eddy's tragically ironic lines from an exchange with Lee
>Lee (mocking Eddy's defiance): I love it when you raise your eyebrow like that.
>Eddy (reading, then taking the provocation): Oh, you're not getting to me, Lee Kanker.
Id est, if you recognize a hustle, walk. You're only being approached because you're the mark, meaning anything you say or do is rigged as setup.
Therein lies the problem, you can't take the stripes off a mark.
Each Kanker was even a different type of con too.
Lee was hidden-in-plain sight power plays through playing people against themselves or others, like how she'd use a crowd or greed on Eddy or how she kept her sisters chained to her with the mantra "we're family" whenever "because I said so" could stir challenge, but whenever they tried to get her sympathy with similar sentiment she'd just smile or ignore them, the Megatron.
Marie inverse goes for underhanded plays against Edd or Lee's wits, the Starscream, May plays the fool for pity but as soon as she gets her way and hands on Ed it's clear, like Sarah, she looks down on the sympathetic as nothing but useful idiots except that time with Edd?, I dunno...Skywarp? You get the picture.
Keep the sextant on hand, 'cause tricks be on all the angles.
