So, imagine that Sub Zero actually got stuck in some form of DC universe (not necessarily the injustice one), i think he would be a mayor player there
>His ice is magical so he would not be defenseless against kryptonians, demons and the like. >Honorable but not a moralfag. >He is really has a mature, logical outlook on a lot of things. >Short range teleportation. >Can work either in a team or solo just fine. >Physical strength of MK characters is all over the place so i wont get on that.
What kind of adventures would he ran into? Would the justice league (normal or Dark) just leave him alone or disapprove his killing?would he shit all over the DC ice villains and their inferior powers?
would he shit all over the DC ice villains and their inferior powers?
No doubt, but Captain Cold likely could give him trouble being less based on ice and more sheer subatomic Cold, as well as being as totally serious and no-nonsense as Sub-Zero is in his own way.
Robert Perez
>>Honorable but not a moralfag. I actually wonder how well he'd take to the no-kill rule. He's unreasonably blood thirsty but he also has no qualms about it, so outright killing a villain to save innocents might come easier.
My guess is more like a punisher role since he he zero problems with killing a villain but he’s not bloodthirsty so he could spare who he wants. Dark would likely use occasionally since he deals with demons and magic all the time
Joshua Lewis
I would rather the Blunder God come to DC. I think he'd make a good addition.
Lin Kuei clan vs the League of Assassins would be a based comic arc I’d read the shit out of.
Nolan Thomas
He may clash with the League because he won't completely fine with their no-killing policy and probably end up working solo but on Batman's Speed Dial. Probably Joins the League of Shadows until he realises what kind of organization it is and clash with ra's al ghul.
Christian Rogers
I would think that the league of shadows would be his enemy
Chase Diaz
Yeah because we really needed more fucking people with ice gimmicks in the DC universe >Killer Frost(s) >Chillbane >Mister Freeze >Ice >Captain Cold >Icicle and Icicle Jr Fuck that. Get Raiden in there
While on the topic of the games, I still wonder if they'll put some DC characters in Mortal Kombat 11. Who would fit in with the gore though?
Jeremiah Martin
Aren't electricity gimmicks even more numerous? At least Raiden isn't black.
Dominic Martinez
Yes they would but he doesn't know the League of Shadows yet, he could think that they were an equivalent of his clan in this world...and he may end up massacring them all or making some of them join him and start his own ninja clan. He may become one of Savage Vandal's arch-nemesis.
Justin Green
We have Black Lighting now we will have Yellow Vulcan.
Luis Lopez
Atrocitus, Mongul, Lady Shiva, Zoom, Black Manta. I could be greedy and say Guy Gardner but only cause I want to see how he’d interact with Cage
Sebastian Young
Correction; he's a thunder god. He's got a bunch of magic spell bullshit and knows martial arts. Blunder God fighting Black Adam, or teaming up with Wonder Woman? That's fun
I mean, keep in mind that Sub Zero reached out -several times- to the dude who literally killed his brother just so they could have a truce and end the senseless bloodshed.
If he were working solo:
The way i see it, if Sub Zero runs into, say, Harley, Ivy, Cpt Cold, Dr Freeze, Catwoman or Lex (depending on which universe and timeline of Lex are we talking about) then that villains -probably- survives the experience as they are not beyond redemption.
On the other hand, If SZ gets his hands on the Joker, Black Adam, Ra's/Talia al Ghul, Deathstroke, Vandal Savage or anyone who is too far gone or just plain old insane then that person is fucking dead.
If he was in a team:
I imagine that eveb though he'd have a problem with the no-kill rule, he's always been a respectful warrior, so he would abide by those rules. (though for only as long as the team-up lasts)
Elijah Flores
He's definitely merciful. In the old timeline he spared a warrior in the MK2 tournament and that tipped Scorpion off that this wasn't the same guy who killed him. And the new timeline takes so many old details and revives them as canon (he turned the Lin Kuei around to protect Earth if need be) I have no doubt Sub's still a pretty laid-back guy if the villain's not beyond turning around to the side of good.
Hunter Long
It would be fun to see Sub-Zero joining the Young Justice Outsiders team. Trying to train Geo-Force to control his temper and frozing him a little when he snaps. And his interactions with Scavenger would be hilarious.
Brayden Robinson
>Scavenger Yeah that'd be cool but what i really want to see now is
>Lin Kuei clan vs the League of Assassins >Probably Joins the League of Shadows until he realises what kind of organization it is and clash with ra's al ghul. >Yes they would but he doesn't know the League of Shadows yet, he could think that they were an equivalent of his clan in this world...and he may end up massacring them all or making some of them join him and start his own ninja clan.
These ideas those posters threw around are fucking golden, make it happen DC.
As for SZ vs Vandal, idk... I *think* he'd be able to take on Vandal in a fight just fine, but keeping him dead is the problem.
Maybe freeze Savage and then have some other magician make it so the ice doesnt melt?
>Sub Zero comments that Ra is basically Shang sung >Talia try’s seducing him but Sub Zero deals with 10/10s daily so it doesn’t bother or affect him I’m for it
Owen Long
but who on the league would fuck up first and call him a N I N J A? Flash?
>Zantanna and Sub Zero team up I never knew I wanted this
Gavin Rogers
As much as I want an MK animated movie, I haven't seen any DC animated stuff with good fight scenes in a long while aside from the Adam West stuff Strangely the Scooby Doo stuff is usually better
Jacob Rivera
>His ice is magical I'm gonna need a source on that.
Isaac Cooper
He’s a cryomancer. It’s in the name
Julian Sanchez
Heh
Jace Murphy
Well, yeah
But with him and frost, its an inherited trait from a parent
Who knows, all we know is that the original cryomancers came from outworld
Christopher Martinez
How long would long would it take for him to cuck Robin after his arrival? A day?
It's inherited from the clan, jackass. That's why Takeda can do the magic Scorpion does.
Logan Howard
>That's why Takeda can do the magic Scorpion does. When was this? I thought he just had his father's telepathic powers and a high tech version of the rope spears
Jason Nelson
the latest evidence (and therebefore and arguably most canon) in injustice 2 he says to doctor freeze "my MAGIC is superior to your science" and then later in his ending you see him fighting motherfucking Superman.
Idk, man. I dont think Sub Zero has it in him to actually cuck someone.
Even if starfire was single it'd take some serious legwork on her part to get into his icy pants
Adrian Scott
Yeah Kuai has always been kind of asexual. He pretty much only cares about the Lin Kuei.
I call it the "Devil may cry Dante" effect: the more you ignore women the more powerful you become
Nicholas Smith
>I actually wonder how well he'd take to the no-kill rule. He's unreasonably blood thirsty but he also has no qualms about it, so outright killing a villain to save innocents might come easier. He wouldn't be like "i wouldn't kill hitler if i had the chance, my rule doesn't let me"-level like batman, but if the guy had some chance (and desire) to be redeemed and reformed he'd be fine with that.
Mason Richardson
>implying guy gardner wouldn't do and keep doing that just to piss sub off
Julian Nelson
Bi han (the current timeline's sub zero) isn't much better either, to the point of outright saying "i don't have time to socialize" to johnny cage. Frankly Frost would probably be a lot less stab-happy if sub just stuck his iceberg on her already.
Luke Flores
>Bi han (the current timeline's sub zero) isn't much better either Fuck, i confused the two brothers. Yeah, Kuai is far from being a social guy.
John Adams
Takeda is kenshi son
Benjamin Wright
He treats her like a daughter
Blake Edwards
>He treats her like a daughter That plot point made some more sense in the 3d era, since in those games Sub zero was already a old man (almost looks like he's in his mid/late 50's), but its a bit weirder in mkx since he's much younger there, although frost is around cassie's age in that timeline, wasn't her? Curious to see what her deal is going to be if the roster leaks were 100% right.
Nathaniel Taylor
only to see how much he fuck things up? im game too
James Powell
Rain was and always will be the superior ninja.
Colton Morgan
>he's much younger there Well, biologically yes, Sub Zero is younger than he was in the original timeline.
But in this one he spent a good deal of time as a cyborg and then as a revenant/ghost/whatever.
So while he may *look* young, Kuai Liang has been around for a while
The new timeline kind of fucks that up a lot and they haven't really explained it. They never really had an established timeframe for the events of MK1-A but it didn't seem to be more than a few years. But somehow Kuai became an old dude from 4 to DA and Shujinko could age from teen to old man in the same time frame in which everyone else stayed the same age. It never made any sense and now in the new timeline Frost has still been there from around the time DA would have happened but now it's 25 years later and she doesn't seem any older at all and Kuai just looks middle aged. It's all fucking weird.
>He treats her like a daughter Since Frost would not be in DC, who would be his apprentice/daughteru?
Jayden Howard
I always had this weird theory that Bi Han is Frost’s father. She has all the power hungry and temper he had
Jacob Hill
Probably Killer Frost or Ice
Lincoln Peterson
Villains that would work with Sub Zero >Vandal Savage >Ra’s and Talia Ah Ghul >Circe >Cheetah That’s all I could think of for villains. His team ups would probably be >Justice League Dark >Batman >Justice League >Starfire
The 3d era was a total mess story-wise, frankly i was surprised they even acknowledged it that much in mk9 (though that made the plot a lot more interesting) and in some points during mkx (like taven being in takeda and psychic keanu reeves' ending). Though in therms of plot/time frame mkx would and mk11 seem to be happening at the point mk4 and the 3d era would be, but i'm not 100% sure.
>Shujinko could age from teen to old man in the same time frame in which everyone else stayed the same age didn't that happen because he was in prison for a goddamn eternity in orderrealm over some dumbass crime? maybe time goes by differently there
Matthew Rogers
okay, fine, i'll bite.
Sell me on Sub Zero x Starfire, why do you like this ship, how would it work?
Jace Allen
Nah, he would pretend to be the guardian of his universe since he has the title of Elder God but would plan to kill everyone
Thomas Thompson
BiHan was banging Sareena so he’s not that asexual. I’m sure BiHan was the bigger dick though.
Nathaniel Murphy
It was basically how they interacted in injustice that sold me. >flirting >admiring their fighting skills youtu.be/ox8qWFDtLp4
Charles Clark
Bi Han was a dick but not a monster. He could see when something was wrong and try to correct it but only if he felt like it
Matthew Turner
If he was on a team that played the no-kill rule, he'd respect it and probably act as support so he doesn't go overboard. He'd make walls, barriers, and capture enemies, slow them down, etc. If he goes in swinging, he'll take it too far and probably kill the enemy. He's one of the top tier of the league/legion that has to hold back in order to respect his team.
Agreed on his solo stuff. He'd spare the fallen or redeemable, but no mercy to the completely evil or insane.
Carter Thompson
BUT WHY ISN'T THIS VIDEO GAME ABOUT NINJAS RIPPING OFF EACH OTHER'S HEADS AND EATING THEIR FACES POLITICALLY CORRECT AND NOT SEXIST
I'm pretty sure it was the Grandmasters/Dragons Amulet that aged Kuai Liang up in the interim between 4 and DA because it heavily enhanced his cryomancy powers.
Levi Morris
>Though in therms of plot/time frame mkx would and mk11 seem to be happening at the point mk4 and the 3d era would be, but i'm not 100% sure.
MKX started right when MK4 would have in the old timeline but because of how events were changed Shinnok was trapped in his amulet and 25 years ended up passing in relative peace so we're way ahead of the old timeline. Shang was dead and Crunchy was hiding in the Netherrealm so no Deadly Alliance, Reptile was working as one of Kotal's top guys and helping fight Mileena so he couldn't be lured in to being Onaga's vessel and since so many characters died or never became relevant there weren't as many strong warriors around and so Blaze never started Armageddon and Taven stayed asleep. Back in the old timeline things sort of happened in a pretty rapid succession with only months or at most a year passing between the events of games. 25 years is the biggest leap in time in the series and puts things well past when Armageddon originally happened. MK11 seems to be starting pretty much right after X though so it seems like we're sticking with this timeframe for now.
Apparently Sub Zero is the most powerful Cryomancer ever
James Cook
Grandmaster Kuai powered by the Dragon Amulet and the cryomancer armor is basically ice elemental tier. If they ever wanted to show Raiden retiring and a chosen mortal being elevated to god status to replace him as the Guardian of Earthrealm, you could easily do it with Sub.
plus raiden said in mk9 that bi han fought various times before against outworld to defend earthrealm
Jace Long
I definitely prefer this newer timeline we have right now, but I wouldn't mind seeing Onaga, Shujinku, Taven, and Blaze to be shown or come back in some way. Improved, for sure, but I liked the idea design if Onaga, and the concept of Blaze and Armageddon was cool.
Cooper Gonzalez
He's just referring to Mythologies, which was the one time. Bi-Han was a dick even back then.
Honestly i would be pretty happy to see some of the cooler stuff out of that era like onaga being brought into mk11, and now that the whole thing went xenoverse with the time-travel plot there is a chance
Jayden Cooper
>Yea Forums has better MK discussions than Yea Forums That board is in shambles
In my experience, just about every board has better vidya discussions than Yea Forums I'm a refugee, please don't send me back
Christian Rogers

Jacob Flores
>I definitely prefer this newer timeline we have right now
OTfag here.
Hey Yea Forums, what's the best example of a universe reboot that tried to shed the baggage of convoluted continuity, go back to the basics, and freshen things up a bit, but instead starts throwing out a bunch unnecessary retcons out the ass? You know, the kind that only a few character survive more-or-less unscathed or even benefit from, while literally everybody else gets worse than they were before? Is it the Nu52? Because to me, that's the reboot felt like.
To be fair, this timeline is not a complete wash. MKX was a massive improvement in a lot of ways, and I'm really hyped for the new one, but man of man was MK9 a rough start. It was supposed to be a retelling of the first 3 games condensed into one coherent saga, but the way it went about it was a borderline warcrime.
I'm aware of that, it's just depresses me that MK threads on view devolve into the same shitshow about character faces and titties.
Christian Cox
The thing I liked about MK9 was that we got some of those 1 on 1 actions that happened in the background of MK1-3 like that hilarious interaction of Bi-Han getting killed while realizing he was being framed. The story may have gone a million miles an hour, but I enjoyed it for what it was.
Pretty sure that is just a word for anyone who wields ice. By that logic every metahuman with a power is magic. Ice Man and Human Firestar both wield elements but it doesn't mean it's magical in nature.
Not saying Subzero's isn't just saying wielding powers doesn't mean it's inherently magic. If that were the case Superman would be fucked six ways to Sunday against the majority of characters.
Noah Sanchez
Why WAS there a superdoomsday swat guard in justice incarnate

Zachary Howard
This.
Old Timeline’s MKDA Sub-Zero LOOKED old, but was only a couple years older from MK4. I believe Vogel stated the Dragon Medallion merely made him look old as the ice powers essentially frosted (heh) all over him.
New Timeline Sub-Zero is 25 years older from that version of MK4 seen in chapter 1 of MKX’s story mode. Much much older.
The real question is: if Frost is still her rough biological age somehow from MKDA and born much later in the New Timeline... or that much older herself and born whenever she was in the Old Timeline.
Easton Powell
Yea Forums's been a shithole for more than half a decade now. You have to let go
Brody Morales
Big fan of the OT myself, that's what I grew up with. But it definitely felt bloated and a little stale by the end of it, and the soft reboot was what brought me back into the series. It's definitely not perfect, but still feels fresh with newer characters and stronger writing between them.
New 52 is itself a mixed bag, with some great stories and terrible stories. pretty much any long running series with a timeline resetting has that issue, from Marvel to Godzilla. I'd enjoy if this story began to line up to the original timeline, but with its changes we can see different and even improved versions of events, such as Taven and Daegon having a bit more interaction and their tragic story feeling heavier, making Onaga as badass and threatening as ever, even bring Blaze back. With so many warriors in MK now, Blaze should be ready to cause this timeline's Armageddon, but with so many changes it can play out completely differently.
Christian Peterson
I don’t get much opportunity to ask this as a fan of the Lin Kuei so I will hijack the topic to ask:
If Hydro from the Malibu comics and Legacy got officially canonized, how would they differentiate his color from the Sub brothers since Sub is the blue ninja in the series already? Make Hydro a light blue/cyan color? Make Hydro a normal blue and Sub revert to the light blue color in the first two games? I can’t see that one happening though.
Tyler Murphy
Hydro wouldn’t work because Rain is around. But making the both them brothers could work. As for color he could stay blue but just wet something to differentiate him from Sub Zero maybe navy
Lucas Thomas
Aside from specific costume details they can give him like they've done with everyone else, my assumption would be they give him a dark, flat blue, maybe even a sea-greenish-blue for a more oceanic coloration and style. Sub Zero has often shifted to a lighter or pale blue for the ice stuff, so that can also work as a contrast.
Jacob Mitchell
>Pretty sure that is just a word for anyone who wields ice.
In MK everything works by either magic or tech, nevermind that in injustice Sub Zero himself says his ice is magical
Daniel Garcia
Thanks guys. So a dark blue to Sub’s relatively normal shade of or even light blue? I ask this because I notice the specific LK assassins get colors that more or less match their elements - what with Smoke as gray and even Sektor being red but using flamethrowers and thus associated with fire a lot, versus Rain as purple despite his focus on water or Scorpion being yellow but using stereotypically red fire elemental attacks. It sates my ‘tism to figure this out for a water-element LK.
Cameron Cooper
>Hey Yea Forums, what's the best example of a universe reboot that tried to shed the baggage of convoluted continuity, go back to the basics, and freshen things up a bit, but instead starts throwing out a bunch unnecessary retcons out the ass? It's a tie between Hawkman's continuity or Legion of Superheroes.
Xavier Campbell
Loved that part, Bi Han was legit bamboozled when he was framed by the murdering of Scorpion's wife and kid
Dominic Carter
Rain already has Taven/Daegon as Half Borhters because Argus like any god was spreading his seed around. Could easily just have Hydro be Rains half brother too.
William Torres
This. Also, even Scorpion is rocking magical fire.
Alexander Gray
My mistake then. I remembered him having a fire teleport.
One stage in particular is worth noting, looks like the Lin Kuei's lab for the Cyber Initiative, or maybe Sektor's new base for his LK in the MKX comics. We see Cyber Sub in the middle and Cyrax's parts in the lower-left corner.
Gavin Edwards
I love everything about him but his voice. It just seems a little too comical.
>They got the actor from the movie to come back Nice
Bentley Lee
>he reforms killer frost and frost gets jealous.
Josiah Smith
"But Grandmaster! We have no need for this faker, im the greater warrior!" *Tsundere ice slides away*
On second thought, wouldn't killer frost be older than frost? It would be more similar to hating your new step mom rather than a step sister or whatever
