How would you write off Batman? Who should kill him? What would the reaction of the DC fan base be?
How would you write off Batman? Who should kill him? What would the reaction of the DC fan base be?
Based fellow Black Mask fan
>What would the reaction of the DC fan base be?
Are you seriously asking this question?
He gets HIV from being stabbed by an AIDS knife and decides to pursue his lesser-known dream of being in a Queen tribute band.
>How would you write off Batman
I wouldn't
I like Batman so I would write off The Joker instead.
Harley Quinn kills him to not break Batman's No-Kill rule.
IDK about the reaction but whatever.
I would break his back so he could no longer be Batman and have to pass the torch to someone else while still being a side character.
Oh wait....
Supesfag would celebrate like no tomorrow
killed by a parent of a Joker victim. Said parent is blaming Bats for the death since it's Joker's nature to kill, but Bat's supposed to be the protector and he does not protect. Also - seeming very innocent and pedestrian the killer has no rpblem luring Batman in. Furthermore he does not wast time on some devilish plans or "torturing" batman. He incapacitates Batman and seconds later lands the killshot.
He rapes Joker and dies of aids
He dies saving a family from a robber.
Will the dude also kill Joker?
Some random street mugger lurking in a back alley see's him take off his mask for a moment when he thinks no one is around, later on we see the same mugger with a sawed off shotgun running out of a cafe or whatever with people screaming and when cops rush in they see Bruce Wayne dead.
>What would the reaction of the DC fan base be?
Apathy. Because this is capeshit and if you get mad for real about fake death you’re a literal lunatic.
The way I'd do it has already been done. Make him the Alfred to a newer, younger Batman after he's retired. He's still important to the plot, and is as enjoyable as before, but effectively no longer Batman.
As an actual "death" story, though, I'd go with sort of an improved version of Arkham Knight. He faces most of his rogue's gallery one last time, closing off any arcs left of them. Penguin sinks everything he has left to take Bats down, and by the end he's so critically low on the ladder he's lost any sort of power he had in the city. Mister Freeze has a similar end in Knight, I think that's the best, bitter-sweet end to Freeze he's gotten, and he's my personal favorite Batman villain; he and Batman would share an almost kinship by the end, like a respectable farewell, which would contrast the much more bitter, heart breaking finale to Two Face. Batman tries all that he can to save Harvey, but it ends with Harvey burning his "clean" half and succumbing completely to his dark side, with the story ending with Two Face being put down for good.
For the Joker, I'm torn. My initial thought was to have a final battle where both kill each other, but I think a more interesting end would be that this final night doesn't really even have the Joker. Batman doesn't think he's going to die, but he eventually sacrifices himself to save a bunch of civilians, his identity revealed in the process. It'd be grand, a big moment, but not the same as blowing up his own house or something. Meanwhile, the Joker, just escaping Arkham to join the fun, finds out who Bats was, as well as his death, and just gives up. He gives up being a criminal, super villain, anything like that, he just breaks down, and disappears, leaving everything behind. Not out of respect for Batman, but because he thinks that in light of something like this, it was all pointless if it was just going to end like that.
the dc fanbase would be livid
By some joke of a villain, preferably pic related
>How would you write off Batman?
Like Batman Beyond almost did. Bruce gets old, gets more injured and less effective at fighting crime, and retires as a cynical old man who recognizes that one man fighting crime isn't going to solve everything and it's only systematic change that works, recognizing that the bitter irony of it all is that if he has spent more time as Bruce Wayne devoting billions to fix housing, jobs, injustice he could have saved more people.
How about Croc, Ivy, Harley, Catwoman and Ra's?
I would totally read the adventures of pencil man
10/10. Pure kino
That's Eraser for you, Chump
>Who should kill him?
Bendis, the writer.
the problem is that you can never kill these characters
I get why you can't too. they're the iconic characters who've proven the test of time, so they're bound to be some of the best sellers if anything just because of the goodwill you've built up
but no matter what, they're always going to come back, your "Death of ____" storyline will always be remembered as just being a gimmick, and no one will talk about it ever again
I always liked Croc being an anti-hero. Maybe he's featured, but he becomes almost a Venom, living both amongst and defending the destitute and forgotten of Gotham, like an opposite to Penguin. He doesn't try to replace Batman, but maybe he's inspired to put his strength to something a bit better.
Ivy is more difficult, same with Harley. As much as I dig the two together, I don't personally ship them. So Ivy would probably continue being an on/off villain for Gotham, though I've never seen her as outright evil in any stories with her. Harley, if involved in the story, might actually be redeemed, again as a contrast to Harvey's tragic end, but might just be another thing Joker leaves behind, serving as her tipping point that works to reveal her differences and similarities to Joker ("If it was going to end like this, what was the point?").
Catwoman and Batman I do ship. The story could end with an homage to the life of Bruce Wayne, and the accomplishments of Batman. However, she's the only person who is seen in both scenes, showing her love of Batman and Bruce Wayne, as a man and as a symbol.
Ra's would probably fuck off, with the bitter realization that the ultimate successor to him had passed, but in hopes it would inspire many more to follow. He respects the Bat, not the man, as a warrior, and so would respectfully leave Gotham alone, for now
prolly will try but fail and die himself for more bleak feel.
Are we killing all the bats or just bruce
There ain't a way to give him a good death so you may as well make it an ugly one. On that note, I say give him to Jeph Loeb.
>"Eraser snaps and erases the DC universe"
He even got the powers for it. Imagine pic related but with Batman's guts falling out.
He has J'onn erase his memories of being Batman so he can have a normal life
>Who should kill him?
Dew it.
The Joker beats Batman within an inch of his life and tells Batman he's not going to kill him because he's a virtuous man. Batman twists his neck to kill himself. Joker rapes his corpse for extra DC points.
>Walks to a door with a ``DC´s exit´´.
>Turn slightly to the camera and smiles.
>Walk of the door.
>BATMAN, THE END.
And no Batman ever more.
Marc Martel x Bruce Wayne when?
>I'M GONNA R-R-R-R-R-R-R-RUB YA OUT, SEE
Slips in the shower and bashes his head open.
I'd probably do something like that scene in DCAU Justice League where he drives the justice league watchtower into the earth.
Batman at the least deserves to die saving Gotham.
And Joker has a straight face and just straight up shoots the guy, no jokes, he's fed up with this world, and is never seen or heard from again.
Gets killed actually saving one of the robins for once. Which is a foreign concept to dc but I’d like him to take action to save his pupil. As for who kills him? Firefly in a routine arson case. Except he unknowingly kills Batman and the Robin who Bruce saves snaps and beats the piss out of him for it to near death as he watches the fire burn brighter
As for the overall reaction I don’t know how the fanbase would feel but I think in universe barely anyone would know about it. Besides maybe superman but knowing batman he’d probably ban Clark from going by lacing his casket in kryptonite.
I'd read that. Might be neat.
Batman gets shot by a common mugger while protecting a family from harm while bats fly off into the distance.
Q: How long after a character's creation do you have before the window of opportunity for a permanent passing of the torch closes? Obviously after 80 years it's way too fucking late and Bruce is gonna be Batman forever with only brief lapses, but when could they have ever done it and made it stick?
The joker accidentally kills him, regrets what was done and becomes the new batman, but because dc is full of shit we find out later that bruce is still alive (just barely though) and wants revenge thus becoming the new joker
Batman learns that Joker is actually a ghoul and is being possessed by the spirit of the founder of Arkham Asylum, Dr. Amadeus Arkham. He poses as an inmate to try an locate where Arkham's body is exactly in the asylum, digs it up and burns it. The spirit of Arkham departs to the afterlife. Batman doing this has an effect on the inmates where their inanities and quirks are actually cured.
He finds out that he has to go now, his planet needs him, and he proceeds to die on the way back.
