Art's good and I appreciated the lack of unnecessary politics, but it was a very hollow attempt. But then again, it was supposed to be a ''mainstream comic'', so I guess it was just that, a shallow actioner. But I'm still glad I supported it, though ''Zach'' really needs to get a grip on the writing. He won't get away with this kind of stuff for long. If he wants to counter balance Marvel's current stinkers, just going ''non-political'' won't be good enough.

I'm of the mind that if Zack/Richard/Blunt Dickthrust wasn't such an ass it wouldn't be as fun to hate this comic. Don't get me wrong it's badly written and drawn by someone who can't consistently keep anything the same size, shape or texture but Zack being a dick makes it easier to hate it.

This is the "I am saving comics" the "I am spearheading a consumr revolt" mr. Chris Bachalo is a pedophile because of how he draws Peter Parker looking young etcetc. Went on about how this would be proof positive he could make a game changer comic. But now it's walked back to "Oh he just wanted to prove he could make a comic" or "You can't insult him it's only his 4th ever book" or "It's suppose to be like a shit movie"

The fact "It's supposed to be bad" is used to defend this and Iron Sights is kind of the saddest thing I can imagine being used to defend a project. He screams about "MY COMIC IS LOVED AND SUCCESSFUL" despite selling 3000 or so copies and then he rips up a comic because he doesn't like "Insert who he says is mentally ill or a dog fucker here today".

If he wasn't an ass the comic would never have been funded so well but if he wasn't an ass it wouldn't be so easy to hate this comic. The fact that Ethan and others say "This is Richard and Malin's best work" is probably the best fucking stealth insult I've ever heard.

Not the sperg you're responding to, but I always think it's neat when someone's able to turn their dreams into reality, especially in comic form.
The comic itself is mostly forgettable, though. If anyone even remembers it a year from now, it'll be because it was "that comic that caused Mark Waid to kill himself."

Fine, but at least could they be good at it.

Basically one of them changed ownership of that IndieCron site they host all their "CG AFFILIATE" campaigns on. Basically if you're on that sight you're "IN" the CG crowd. Shocking on their front page though there's a few big ones- Ethan's, bigfootBill etcetc- MOST of them have FAILED UTTERLY and it looks terrible.

So they started letting in comics NOT to do with CG and- it gets murky here- basically some people- Ethan's "War-campaign guys" all the dudes who call him CEASER and write in block capitals and such- got mad NON-CG people were showing up. Doug Tennenpal or however you spell it felt that CG being a consumer movement should be happy that it had new blood and talent even if they WEREN'T CG affiliated.

This led to a lot of "YOU AREN'T ALLOWED IF YOU AREN'T CG" and threats of doxxing and accusations of gatekeeping. Basically Doug was an ass about people getting kicked off the site for no reason beyond "You aren't CG and you don't belong here" in a "Let's all make good comics" website.

This led to at least one long time creator quitting CG, Doug accusing people of being SJW's which,worse than death I assume, as he pulled his stuff off IndieCron and now they are debating making a NEW CGonly version of IndieCron so IndieCron CAN get clients who don't fail nearly 70% of their indiegogo drives.

Ethan is ignoring it despite his fans being the big cause of the argument. A lot of the more talented artists are basically going "If we don't need to be CG to be on this site I'd rather not be" and that's leading to people going "I ONLY BACKED YOU CAUSE YOU WERE CG!"

It's a bit of a fucking mess.

People will talk about America until the end of human civilization, because it's completely fucking mindblowing how something that awful made it past the editors, and not only was it unironically printed with Marvel's seal of approval, but kept going for 8 full issues, with each issue being worse than the last.
At no point in this process was there one singular person at Marvel who pointed out the elephant in the room and went "Wait. Guys. This is actually fucking awful.", which also goes a long way in explaining why Marvel continues to be complete and utter shit.

Factor in people who apparently say "You're not CG and so not on the site" it's now no longer a thing you're a part of...they tell you if you're in or not now. They have some sort of emotional investment in it. I found it very boring. Recently storytimed indie comics like Beauty and Petit accomplish whatever rebellious statement this comic's existence was supposed to be.

I went in with low expectations based on Meyer's other work but this comic was actually a good read, the characters were cool, and I wanted to read more about the world.
