What did Yea Forums think of Love Death and Robots?
Thought it was okay. Nice eyecandy but the short duration time really hampers the thematic exploration unlike in Black Mirror.

Actually I thought that the short duration helped to ensure that the pieces went directly for their point without over inflating themselves with needless bits. It also really helped to get through some of the poorer segments. I do think however that some of the pieces could have used the extra time.
Heavy Metal in all but name.
>Nice eyecandy but the short duration time really hampers the thematic exploration unlike in Black Mirror
They're little short animations. That's the point, they're meant to be short.
Handful of kinos like Zima Blue, Good Hunting, and Three Robots. Bad ones are Alternate Histories, Ice Age, and Secret War. Enjoyed the show overall, can’t wait to see a second season.
>Secret war
>Bad
What exactly was its problem, user?
The one thing I can take away from this series is animal buttholes.
The Problem is that he isn't a Yea Forumsmarde
I haven't finished the series yet, but Suits and Three robots have to be my favorite ones, with Helping hand fucking me up the most so far. Also, the 2d ones seem to look better than the 3d bulk, but maybe I'm biased.
I'd have liked it more if it was actually made for adults instead of edgy high school virgins.
Can't all have high prestigious taste like you user
Really there's no difference these days.
I've never been accused of having high brow tastes. I enjoyed the first one and was a bit thrown when two characters who had no real interaction or chemistry start fucking. That's porn-grade writing.
Almost every short has nudity that's totally irrelevant to the story and/or lame humor. "Lol humans believed in god j/k they came from hot soup. "Lol what if Hitler hired a bunch of hookers and died in an orgy shaped like a swastika."
It's no surprise reddit is creaming it's jeans over this anthology.
I will add that I didn't hate everything about all of them. There were a lot of interesting concepts and a lot of great animation. I liked Zima Blue, Suits, Lucky 13, Helping Hand. Secret War was interesting but I rolled my eyes when they felt the need to shoehorn in another brutalized naked woman.
Is nudity really so low brow to you?
You really got that pissy over a robot's joke?
You sound like a massive baby, the worst use of it was really only in Alternative Histories but that entire short was immature and a weak choice to end on.
This. If anything I think some of the shorts were a bit bloated and could have done with some editing.
Witness, for example, was a great concept, but pretty much the entire middle third could have been mostly excluded and the story restructured around the simple - witness, chase, murder loop.
There are a few clear winners like Zima Blue, but beyond that Yea Forums is pretty divided. People tend to agree that the visual design was the strongest aspect and the writing the weakest, but nobody agrees on what the best of the former and worst of the latter was.
Just got into the show. Saw the first two episodes and I'm already in love. The first one was sweet, short and to the point. The second one was not as good but had a ton of charm, it was smart, satirical, but not preachy. Of course, the animation is pure eye candy, but the mature content is another drawn-in, not because it's mature, but because it's mature and smart about it, while not taking itself too seriously. It's not like Family Guy or something gay like Mr. Pickles where its just edgy for the sake of being edgy. So yeah I liked it. Didn't see the third ep, which feels like the new Spiderman movie.
Is it possible to have a thread about this without some snowflake /poltard, an idiot teenager screaming "edgy" or a typical american christian shocked by the human body?
Pretty much everyone agrees the two Alastair Reynolds adaptations, Beyond the Aquila Rift and Zima Blue, were excellent, and pretty much everyone seems to agree that there were two or three objectively weaker shorts like The Dump, Ice Age, and Alternate Histories.
What's really been surprising though is how divided Yea Forums is on the rest of the shorts - Sonnie's Edge, Three Robots, The Witness, Suits, Helping Hand, Lucky 13, Secret War, etc etc etc. There are people who absolutely love and vehemently hate seemingly every possible combination of the remaining shorts.
>Netflix
Nope.
I didn't care for the Aquila Rift. Call me jaded, but the twist was pretty obvious from the moment the protagonist was told not to wake up the rest of the crew. The design of the monster was at least pretty cool.
>Is nudity really so low brow to you?
Nudity isn't inherently low brow, but all the nudity was pure fan service. It's just sex thrown in for sex.
It really wasn't, it threw the characters into false senses of security and pulled the rug out from under them
Beyond the Aquila Rift especially
I wouldn't say all of it was shock and fan service, there were some scenes involving nudity that I think served a purpose in the narrative or the development of the characters... but a LOT of it was just shock and fan service.
And WAY too many fucking floppy wieners. There were moments where I felt like I was in a George RR Martin novel.
15 threads and Americans are still complaining about the sex.
It's not a particularly new concept for a story, but it was a story well told, I thought.
see:
I hope this becomes popular so we can get more good, high quality animated content aimed at an older audience. Say what you want about the writing (it was rather weak in most of the stories) but the visuals were WAY better than what I expected from some Shitflix original.
AHEM
I am a strong lesbian monster who needs no man!
Good Hunting would have worked better without any dialogue. The visual storytelling was good enough to stand on its own without the awful stilted writing.
>That's porn-grade writing.
Spot on. I'm sure there's a shill just waiting to yell "incel" at me like there has been in every other thread, but it's kinda depressing how many people respond to anyone's criticisms of the writing with variations on "you just hate sex". O brave new world, that has such people in it.
I have watched like 5 of the shorts. Are they all UK studios? Everyone sounds British. Was expecting more of an international effort
The one with the robots reminded me of a game of Engine Hearts I played a few years ago.
Garbage shill thread
Post the stabbing
When the Yogurt took over and Zima Blue were the best ones by far. Everything else was either needlessly edgy, gory or hadn't enough time to establish it's premise well enough.
>What exactly was its problem, user?
Secret Wars, Shape-shifters, Lucky 13 all looked like videogame trailers for EA next totally awesome shooter.
Next time, less stuff like that, more stuff like Witness and Zima Blue.
Secret War is good tho.
So, what exactly are people getting out of "When the Yogurt Took Over"?
what a piece of shit
I was so excited about this show.
Turns out it's just "ArtStation the show" - a number of CGI pictures with super bland and unimportant plot.
>. People tend to agree that the visual design was the strongest aspect
nobody cares about visuals if the story is crap.
I just kept skipping non important scenes without losing anything important story wise
After Shape-shifters it was the one I disliked the most. Maybe the original short story is funnier, but to me it felt literally like a LOL SO RANDOM vignette.
>Turns out it's just "ArtStation the show" - a number of CGI pictures with super bland and unimportant plot.
Yeah, this. Too many of them were too similar in that terms.
>Yeah, this. Too many of them were too similar in that terms.
i had high expectations because i thought it will be similar to Animatrix - it was so great back in the 00s. A bunch of cyberpunk-themed episodes made by different studios.
Not trying to sound /pol/ but a lot of Love/Death/Robots have so much twitter-tier s
o y in them. Most stories throw some plot points right in your face like its some sort of meme.
the other ones are just showing "cool adult stuff :)" without any point... like..yeah. Sexy girls in rubber suits in sex bar. Soooo SEXY im so HARD lolz.
That werewolf transformation was straight up from Van Helsing
Too many were just a variation of "guns getting shot at things", with little innovation, I mean, look at fucking Suits and Secret Wars: the evil monsters are basically the exact same things design wise, and those in turn are very similar to the Dracula creature in Soul Suckers.
are there any cute nerdy boys
It found it quite witty. It didn't take itself too serious, but presented an interesting angle on what is basically a version of technological singularity. The conclusion reminds me a bit of the 2013 film "Her".
Zima Blue was the better of the two though. I found the shorts mostly really mediocre if not outright bad. Yogurt just was one of the few shorts that didn't feel like it tried to be "mature" or "dark".
Me. but im gay and im into older guys.
Can't wait for all the lesbian porn with her monster form.
I was hoping for a return to something like Liquid Television.
Only if you're looking for some PUSSY.
>Not trying to sound /pol/ but a lot of Love/Death/Robots have so much twitter-tier s o y in them.
It's funny, because the people on the other side are also hating on it now saying it's full of "toxic" fanservice and objectification.
>digitalspy.com
>dailydot.com
>SEETHING
Yeah there are like mostly 2 type of episodes- some twitter onions, and some bunch of pictures of robot designs/sexy things.
clearly it did something right
I don't think there's a single sentence you have written that is factually true.
Plus, you may have ADD if you need to skip parts of 10 minutes long shorts.
That's just an American thing, neither left nor right can handle something so natural like having sex properly because of their shitty culture repressing their true feelings. Some go full chasity/think of the children, others say that a naked female body is oppresive, but both sides don't want to admit that sexual attraction is normal and healthy.
I asked this before but I'll ask again in a fresher thread.
Did The Secret War deserve to be the closer for this anthology? I remember thinking that it was going to be Zima Blue, and while It didn't have exactly what I was looking for in a finale it kind of had that "full circle" appeal that I, for a second felt "yeah, I can see why this was the closer."
And then it kept going. What short would you have liked if at all?
No, post the rape
resetera.com
Americans and sex. Feast your eyes.
Also, is there anything more indicative of a person retardation than "it's like sooo EDGY!!1" ? Those fucking westerners growing up with nothing but Disney and Pixar have a really twisted vision of what animations really is about. Embarrassing.
>resetera
No thanks, I don't enjoy my anger THAT much.
Did it make it look any less glorious?
Man, fuck ghost fish.
I've got about a quarter of it left, and so far, I've been having a lot of fun. It's a little heavy-handed on the sex and violence sometimes, but given that a lot of these artists have had execs breathing down their backs for YEARS to ensure whatever they made was "appropriate for children" that shit must have been incredibly stifling. They never had the opportunity to work on a project where they could freely draw tits, people getting their heads torn off, or have their characters say "fuck" as many times as possible and get it backed by a major studio. This must be extremely cathartic for a lot of them, so I understand completely.
Here are my rankings of the shorts so far:
>Zima Blue
>The Witness
>Three Robots
>Suits
>Blindspot
>Lucky 13
>Fish Night
>Beyond the Aquila Rift
>Helping Hand
>Sucker of Souls
>The Dump
>When the Yogurt Took Over
>Good Hunting
>Sonnie's Edge
>Shape-Shifters
This and that's what made it great.
I wasn't complaining, i like Van Helsing, just weird to notice
About the sex:
I agree with some anons here that some of the hardcore nudity was excessive, but not all around.
I had no problem with the explicit nudity in the Witness, because worked as part of the short’s hyperkinetic, over-the-top style, to create this absurd unreal feel, the same goes for the Hitler short, which I didn’t like that much, but I get what they were doing, over the top, filthy humor.
It didn’t work at all in other instances, to me at least. The entirety of Sonnie’s Edge was nothing but an extended “Wow isn’t this fucking cool” exercise, and the sex in it was just an extension of that. Beyond the Aquila Rift, the sex scene felt to me like a way to spice up a story I knew where was going the second they entered the blue wormhole, just a way to keep your interest up in a story that had literally no surprise.
What is left then? also I did not like it in hitler because it did not fit his character
Anybody else liked Bloodsuckers and wished it was a show?
Sorry, meant Sucker of Souls
People seem down on it, but I loved it. It had a comicbook vibe to it, and the banter was quick enough it was fun.
The Witness really reminded me of Kane and Lynch 2. Didnt know that whole style was a thing
It was out of place in the anthology but I genuinely liked it.
Gary best girl and best Glaswegian.
The banter was cute at times, but otherwise i found it very generic and boring. Probably my least liked episode alongside the yogurt one (of those I've seen at least)
It could easily be turned into a show about mercenaries hunting down supernatural terrors.
fpbp
and this
I love me some Heavy Metal storytelling where they don't give a shit about censors and push back against bullshit "oh you have to do ____ to make a story good" Nah, just experiment and that's what this does. Also tits
amerifags are cancer. Nudity doesn't need a reason, it's natural. Most of the times that nudity is in this season is when the people don't really think about being nude.
>It was out of place in the anthology
How so? In a series that contained stuff like Suits and The Dump, what was out of place with SoS?
blindspot is underrated desu
I think these episodes randomized. People keep saying " the first one" and refer to a completely different episode from the first one that I watched, and the last episode for me was Alternative Histories
The others even as fantasy where tech fantasy or at worst dystopia punk in the case of Dump and sort of Secret War.
SoS and Shapeshifters are basically normal action movie premises with one small supernatural element.
After some of the ultra serious, violent, lewd, gory, and cynical shorts that preceded it, Maurice LaMarche doing an Orson Welles War of the Worldsy narration about yogurt taking over the world was a nice goofy palette cleanser, which I thought made the Beyond Aquila Rift (which follows immediately after) hit all the harder.
Afghani werewolves did nothing wrong. They were merely defending their lands from foreign invaders.
I was about to mention this Sonnie's Edge, three robots and Suits are heavely related to tecnology but Sucker of Souls is just mythology.
Dump felt out of place too, so did Secret War.
Suits' farmers vs aliens shtick was right at home though.
I get that teenage white boys are gonna think that sonnies edge is too sjw but the whole UV tattoo/gear scene was pretty sweet. I really don't understand their logic, I would think more Netflix shows with animated boobs and cyberpunk aesthetics would be a good thing that they like. DId none of them think about what their end goal would be? I understand the emotional response and not liking that it makes them uncomfortable but I haven't heard any actual constructive alternatives that don't immediately sound way worse.
Really enjoyed (in no particular order)

Almost all the shorts were based on short stories, and I can't help but feel like they were maybe better in that medium? Like the The Dump and Fish Night, I didn't get either of those, but knowing the author on both was Joe Lansdale, makes me thing both stories worked better told in his words.
Suits felt like a pilot for a StarCraft cartoon I never got (even had Neil Kaplan in the main role), so I love it to bits. I don't get why people dislike it for being too cartoony or "game intro" like. For me, it felt genuine, even if it wasn't very original.
I also do not get why people say that Fish Night was about drugs. It is a very pretty story about how everything has to end (a prehistoric ocean, a reliable car, days of door to door salesmen) and how trying to relieve the glory of old days against reason can end badly. The old guy was content with the car being dead and his job becoming obsolete, the kid refused to accept both (we can clearly see this in their reactions and dialogue). When the fish arrived, the kid jumped in, too eager and optimistic for his own good.
Suits fits all 3 themes and The Dump fits both love and death.
Your casual racism is pretty lame. The sheer fact that they changed Sonnie's Edge toward something it simply wasn't in the short story is enough to have it receive harsh criticism. It's still my favorite but it could have done without the changes.
Apart from a very cartoony evil buisenessman, I have no major problems with it. The twist still works and the monsters were amazing.
>I haven't heard any actual constructive alternatives that don't immediately sound way worse
How about you DON'T change the story?
>The sheer fact that they changed Sonnie's Edge toward something it simply wasn't
How was Sonnie's Edge originally? By the title alone I'm guessing the main character was a guy?
>Suits looks like a SC cartoon
So does Lucky 13, I could only thing on the terran dropship the entire short.
>reeeeeee fucking Americans
What is this a French comics thread?
I got it, I cracked the code. The butthurt from the Americans is because of the Uncanny Valley effect. It looks too real. And unsettles the viewer, because they're judging it with a more scrutinous eye trying to decode the facade.
Not like Hentai, where imagination is freeing because you know it's not a real person, just a simplified representation of the human form.
>Sonnie is still female
>Dicko is actually not that bad of a guy
>he still offers to pay her to lose
>she still refuses and gives her story about torture and rape
>doesn't have anything about her opponent taunting her and shit
>she actually fights a purple dinosaur with stubby legs
>Dicko is shown to be dissapointed in her victory but otherwise doesn't react
>Honeypot attacks Sonnie because she bet a lot of money on her losing Dicko isn't even there
>Sonnie reveals her story is fake she actually got hit by a truck but made the story up so people assume her edge is hate and vengeance not survival
>she was never raped and just got in a car crash
>the asshole guy isn't that much of an asshole and doesn't try to kill her
>before the fight it's established the team is one fight away from being completely broke and shut down
>the arm candy still tries to kill her but was because she had money riding on the fight too and was more pissed about losing it than the guy she's with
No, she's a girl.
You can read it here

Characters had a very Dishonored feel to them. A big plus.
>Dicko is actually not that bad of a guy
lol yes he is, has her killed just like the short.
Read it yourself instead of regurgitating misinformation.
pfff reading is for nerds
>"Lol what if Hitler hired a bunch of hookers and died in an orgy shaped like a swastika."
Which episode is this?
Alternate Histories it's all about how history would be different if hitler died.
Thanks
>Alternate Histories it's all about how history would be different if hitler died.
I didn't like how that episode devolved in pure nonsense.
Like, I laughed out loud about the history when he gets run over by a cart and they outlaw horses, because that started simple and went insane, but all the other ones started insane and kept the same level, and it all felt samey.
I second you with the humor, but that's not the focus of most short, user.
>Giving a shit about what reddit thinks
You are pretty dumb, silly user.
Don't really know it's just dumb humor, I don't really thought about it. I had literally no idea how the Hillter and robo hittler from the trailer would fit in the anthology.
>It is a very pretty story about how everything has to end (a prehistoric ocean, a reliable car, days of door to door salesmen) and how trying to relieve the glory of old days against reason can end badly. Now I feel like a dumbass for not getting it.
>Alternate Histories
Seven minutes, not that long, watched it. Surprisingly it was better than I thought, even if the animation wasn't anything praiseworthy. Worth it, I suppose. Taking notes from this thread to what to see next.
Zima Blue is almost unanimously liked
Aquila Rift and Lucky 13 are pretty good
Suits and Secret War are ok but feel like a videogame intro. Suits is basically starcraft
Yogurt is kinda similar to Alternate historiesin tone and humor
Witness has good visuals but not much else
Ice Age has been done better by other people SIMPSONS DID IT
Secret war was pretty good. It did a really good job mixing historical events and occultism to create a short but strong action piece.
I'm still a bit confused
If they had the tech to put her brain in the monster and it could mentally link to a robot human body, why didn't they just put her brain in the robot human body?
>Turn down 500,000 to lose
>Still loses anyway
Get fucked, dyke bitch.
Bait and switch
She chose to become the monster for reasons
Netflix shows are all needlessly edgy.
>Netflix shows are all needlessly edgy.
How? Not that I've seen everything they've pushed out, but everything that I've seen has been relatively tame.
>Secret Wars, Shape-shifters, Lucky 13 all looked like videogame trailers for EA next totally awesome shooter.
You know you're not the first person to say it, but I've never understood the problem here. Videogames are trying to look really real, so we're sectioning off an entire artstyle because that particular medium uses it? This is even odder in this particular case because Lucky 13 and Secret Wars would've been mostly CGI if they were made with live action components anyway, specifically because live action couldn't replicate the most vital elements of the visual side of the story. Now the integration is seamless because the actors are in the same world instead of pretending to fall out of the sky or getting attacked by a monster. The medium worked for the story and added to it, rather than detracted from it like cartoonish CGI in live action, and it's supposed to be worse because current videogames figured out that seamless integration is better than putting in live action cutscenes in their shooters?
This is a very odd problem that doesn't fit the critique of the story or as a visual side of the medium itself.
It's probably a Burger seething about nudity or something just don't engage it
Yeah, this shit is edgy as fuck.
Uh? She didn't lose
Here's fun Yea Forums, write a Hilda episode as though it was by the writers behind L,D+R.
>but I haven't heard any actual constructive alternatives that don't immediately sound way worse.
How about
>We reveal that Sonnie never got attacked or raped, she actually was just in a really bad car crash that crushed her body, but it was fixable.
>She CHOSE to be put in the monster, she didn't get 'saved' by being put in there, that way when she says 'Everyone thinks the rape is the reason I have my edge, but they're wrong', she's actually, you know, right instead of 'they're only mostly wrong, but yes its all still because of the rape attack'
>Take away that cartoon villain at the end, he serves no purpose but to pad out the ending and make it more childish and stupid
>Maybe have most of her dialog come from herself so the actress can emote and shit
Now if only there was something, like say a short story, to help them out here. Something that could show them their own interpretation was flawed in some way, and there was a better way. Something...
>incels still complaining about the sex and violence
You do know the show is called LOVE, DEATH, and robots?
good shit, favorite ones were:
Zima Blue, Aquila Rift and Yogurt
alt histories dropped the ball and 3 robots was ok with a shit ending
Oh, hi again incel poster who enters every thread with the exact same post.
Should be Porn, Gore, and Some sci-fi stories.
Is he finally rumbled? Normally there'd have been a dozen posts including the word "incel" by now picking out every critical post in the thread.
funny, short and you aren't expecting it in the middle of all the tits and blood
robot from blindspot is the closest
That's what gets me. None of that stuff would have made it any longer or taken anymore effort to animate. They chose this! They CHOSE to make the short provably worse than it's original for no good reason! They chose to say "We're going to make a short for ADULTS!" and then shamelessly shoved in a cliche so worn out the embodiment of the thousands of times it showed up in childrens media could laugh at how thin it was. They chose to put in stupid children shit in the story when it wasn't there before and worked better originally without it.
If they put down their 'Rich white guy' hateboner for two seconds it would have instantly improved the short, but their sexist racist ass couldn't help but ruin it, who'da thunk it?
>Hilda stumbles across a monster in the forest
>It's scary and it rips apart some poor little animal
>At first she's terrified, but she comes to realize it's just an animal, it needs to hunt and eat, it's just following it's instincts.
>Empathizes with it too much, relaxes around it, and it ends up hunting and killing her in a gory evisceration.
>Moral of the story - understand that nature is violent and animals do what they need to to survive, but keep a healthy fear and respect for it as well
>Also the monster has giant tits.
>sexist racist
>also the monster has a big floppy wiener
fixed
gotta be consistent with the other shorts user
Not that user but to me its because making it fully cgi is inferior to having live action actors in a cgi environment in the first place. These are shorts that are independent of any actual game. They look bad because the cgi characters end up with this uncanny valleyesque look to them( even Lucky 13 and Aquila rift, which do a great job, still suffer at times from this)
And they just aren't as inventive visually as some of the other shorts here.
Whoa that's weird. Secret wars was the last episode for me. Why would netflix do this?
The witness felt like Groundhog Day for sex workers and murderers
maybe it changes by region?

I’m pretty sure nobody but baby boomers buys “le ironic” shitposting anymore after the NZ neonazi shooter. At least explain why reversing traditional sex/gender roles in commercial media is bad even though the show was marketed to be eccentric and tigger your preconceived notions of western animation.
extra odd then, most seem to have a similar episode order

schtick.
Probably they were taliban werewolves, not quite as sympathetic.
I disagree with cgi sets with live actors always being better for two reasons: First, not every actor handles acting with CGI environments and characters well, even talented ones, and when they cant it's really obvious. Second, over time as visual quality of televisions and monitors improve, the CGI doesnt always age well with it. There are plenty of examples I'm sure you can think of that were fantastic the first time but you can literally spot what's real and what isnt after time and tech advanced. Both methods have their place, especially with improvements in CGI.
I cant stand how you cant have a villian of any race or gender these days without some insecure dumbass on either side getting butthurt and making it about their retarded politics.
You either didn't watch it or you are dumb, because you somehow missed the big twist of the story.
T
The more I think of the shape shifters one the more I get angry. The 2 Afghani werewolves weren't terrorists or Taliban, they literally said the Taliban had no werewolves. The people in the village probably never even knew they were werewolves. A scrawny teenager and a blind old man probably had a really good reason why they would end up facing against the US military. Maybe they ended up bombing and entire hidden werewolf village thinking it was the Taliban, they are still bombing random villages these days thinking they are Taliban. Am I suppose to praise a military trained man with a giga Chad body for beating up a civilian teenager and blind old man? With how he ate he probably ate more meat in a single meal the the other 2 combined in 3 days. He also buried his friend in some hill but he couldn't even be bothered to put the 2 people he murdered in shallow grave.
I didn't like the first episode. So I didn't watch the rest.
You are 1) overthinking this and 2) pushing things that aren't in the story as facts.
Nobody said Talibans don't have werewolves, Americans simply assumed they don't have any and were wrong.
Your loss. Bye.
You're forgetting that even though the Talban supposedly had no werewolves, that old man and teen killed a squad and the MC's friend. They were willing to bring a shitstorm on that village for their own reasons when they could have just let the miltary think that sniper was the only hostile. It's not a clear cut, black and white, good vs evil situation, its War and War fucking sucks.
Also that blind old man and teen nearly killed the MC, so they weren't helpless either.
I thought it was pretty stupid at the end. Like I just can't imagine a tiny asian girl chase around a guy with an average build while he's running scared. He can just smack her and she's knocked out.
I'm pretty sure that's the excuse drone pilots make when they annihalate a village
Weapons make all the difference.
I'm sure you'll remain peak unshook chad status when you see a tiny asian girl kill someone that looks exactly like you and then chases you with a gun.
Then let's hear out your excuse for sharia law.
From the angle they were seeing the murder they couldn't that they were the victims
I watched the trailer. What's this from? I simply need to know...for honest and pure reasons.

hope you like robutts
I don't, it's completely disgusting but if Muslims want it in their countries then so be it. I honestly don't like Muslims and the 16 minute live stream from New Zealand was pure gold. That said I don't want the US military to go act like world police when its all for the benefit of oil barons, mine companies and weapon industries. Let Muslims opress each other in their own lands and leave them be.
>If they put down their 'Rich white guy' hateboner for two seconds
Nigga he IS THE VILLAIN in the short story
What's with you faggots thinking the girl is acting alone? She clearly says "you made Dicko very angry" and talks about the dive when she tries to kill Sonnie
Dicko is just not in the same room, but he still sent her to kill the girl. You guys are retarded
still surprised no one made a webm of the scene yet
>the US goes after genuine salafist scum
>cri
>some mentally ill memelord kills 50 innocents
>pure gold
Fucking /pol/tards, as dumb as ever
so which ones of these are robot centric stories only?
I don't want humans in my robot stories
Not him but I liked it except for the fact the guns they used weren't invented until after the civil war
Sounds like it just a prude
Salafists have a society. It's cruel and illeberal but it's their way of life. Leave them alone and leave them be.
A terrorist attack like in New Zealand is like a tragedy that's incidentally man made tragedy, an accident that could have been stopped but wasnt because of neglect and inconpetence. Some accidence can be fun to watch like watching Pakistanis and Mexican trying to Syphon gas from a leaking oil tank only to be set ablaze by a spark.
Your moralizing is rather fucking odd considering how your revel in others suffering. A moralist psychopath, the worst fucking thing.
Sonnie a cute
CUTE
Sharia law isn't just strict laws on people parts of Sharia Muslims refer to are the more social economic aspects of it either ways just like any ideology if it's taken too far it goes full retard
Liquid TV got a reboot in 2014 but nobody gave a fuck.
I'm happy to see Alastair Reynolds get more exposure.
Because being a monster was cool
Having religion influence law is retarded no matter how moderately applied.
I love animatrix but I think LD+R is also really good.
>Sexy girls in rubber suits in sex bar. Soooo SEXY im so HARD lolz.
That scene happens at a brothel. Have to ever been in one? If it were in another place I would complain.
>SoS and Shapeshifters are basically normal action movie premises with one small supernatural element.
Shapeshifters is gay werewolf fanfiction, with a thin coat of Michal Bay on top
I really had trouble getting through shapeshifters. Definitely fanfic tier
>Feeling unconfortable with a healthy bro-bro friendship
I spotted the closed homos.
I enjoyed The Witness up until I realised that the chaser seems to be aware of the loop, while the chasee is ignorant and terrified. How can the loop in fact continue to be a loop if this is the case? Each participant would only need to be the chaser once and they could break the loop using their memory. I know I'm overthinking it, and visually the short was nice, but still, the loop mechanic was flawed.
Be nice, he's trying his best to cope from the last thread.
Good point. I actually interpreted The Witness to be a commentary on MRAs who believe women owe them any kind of interaction by the virtue of being a man who is calling for the woman’s attention.
Solid 7/10, some will reply seriously
>good hunting made me furry and robophile
not even mad
nutted to dat robot ass
This but unironically.
Not those guys but Shapeshifters was pretty underwhelming, no real point besides that the army is full of assholes and they can go fuck themselves, no interesting visuals besides the werewolf fight, the main character and his buddy were alright but everyone else either filled the asshole role or was just sorta there. I'm still going through them but it's currently the weakest.
maybe each time the loop resets the one that was murdered doesnt retain their memories

Why did you make me read that, user?
>think that sonnies edge is too sjw
People are lamenting cyberpunk for being too political?
Wow, I was ragging on Fish night for not being thematically consistent, but thats a really good explanation.
>reeeeee why did they have to make cyberpunk political!!!
Just bite down hard on that hook, user.
Well, I like the middle east setting and the sountrack. I also loved the Bro-bro friendship of the main characters. Is not that original, just werewolves in afghanistan, but It kinda has its charm, at least for me.
Oh boi, here we go again.
its nice to get some stuff that makes the censors and meek wriggle
I'm not saying it doesn't belong. I just don't think they are creative visually on a level with the other shorts. Humans are great at recognizing other humans and trying to do realistic human characters is going to come with the problem of them coming off as uncanny valley. For every awkward real life human cgi set interaction there is(Warcraft for example), there are a lot that do it just fine.
>what's scarier than spiders?
>How about giant, sapient alien spiders that weave not only giant webs to ensnare spaceships, but complex fantasies for the caught victims
It's terrifying and I love it.
Then why does she have to be so angsty about it?
I mean it's by choice it seems like everything is going the way she wanted yet she acts like someone farted in her oatmeal.
She didn't seem angsty as much as "Why can't you just fuck off already and let me fight."
People naturally opposed her, and when they thought that they could use her past against her, she pulled the rug out from under them
Did you even watch the short dude?
Spider-chan just wanted to make them happy while they slowly starved to death and died.
If she was actively trying to catch them and they were "victims" she wouldn't have woken him up when he asked.
If he wasn't a pussy who probably could've fucked the spider and figured out some kinda food so he didn't starve to death like everyone else.
He probably could have*
I wonder if shes the only one who protects the lost ones, the shot looking over the webbed hell implied there were more of them, I wonder why she does it
might be the queen, probably bored if she is the only self aware one around, she does mention they aren't the first ones to get stuck out there
I think she feels sorry for them, that they're popping up there, outside the galaxy with no way to survive. The sense I got is that the very fact they were there meant they were completely fucked, and she just wanted to make it more enjoyable for them.
That was the honestly the biggest punch in the gut to me when she said "Noone has been ready"
Meaning she's gone through that exact scenario countless times but just keep trying in the hopes that SOMEONE won't lose their shit and just accept her.
Honestly makes me wish some writefag on /tg/ or something could give spider-chan a happy ending.
Theres really no happy end for her, the lost ones have nothing to eat and slowly starve to death, even if they accepted her appearance they still suffer, that's why she creates the lie, so they can die in peace
I felt bad for her, She just wanted to help the guy but his paranoia got the better of him.
>the lost ones have nothing to eat and slowly starve to death,
But that's the thing, if they didn't sperg out and could actually be conscious they could probably actually figure out something to eat, obviously she has a food source
Her food source probably isnt good for humans
Yet we have no way of knowing because everyone just keeps losing their shit
>even if they accepted her appearance they still suffer
Presumably the simulation can dilate time so a few days of starving seems like a lifetime of happiness.
>all these people liking 3 robots
Did I miss something? I found it pretty dumb from start to finish. The ending especially was right out of a family friendly Disney cartoon, most of it was. It just had random swear words inserted so it fit in with the rest of the stuff.
I thought it was cute
I enjoyed most of the exchanges, the cat bit at the end was meh though.
The short was made by the studio that makes the Dishonored CG videos, Dicko looked like a Pendleton
>If she was actively trying to catch them and they were "victims" she wouldn't have woken him up when he asked.
I still wonder exactly what she was eating... Because it really comes off like all the "people she helps" are flies trapped in a web. They also looked more drained than starved, making me think they're slowly having bodily fluids removed, but just slow enough that it doesn't kill them right away.
Is it possible she is using them for food, but is still just very nice and very lonely, or something?
The dynamic between the robots was the best part. Obelisk bot had the best jokes, I audibly laughed at "Go team!" and I don't typically like dark comedy.
That said I felt most of the jokes missed, owing almost entirely to the fact that these robots who were out exploring human ruins to learn what humans were like are very human themselves (obelisk being the least human-like is part of what made her the funniest), so it just made me question the consistency of the short.
It was fun. Not all of the shorts were meant to be taken seriously.
American here. Let me explain to you non americans why americans are such prudes about nudity and sex.
It's not about purtian roots or christianty. That's been thrown out for the last 60 years. It's about marketability and power and popularity. In americans minds, we have been so brainwashed by the media that we think only gamous or sexy people should get naked and that sex is nothing more than something to brag about. To americans at large, the named human body isn't a natural thing, but a thing with a price tag to be shown off. If you arent one of the gorgeous or sexy ones then you have no right to be naked and should be ashamed of yourself. It's all about cosumerism. Americans aren't ashamed of their bodies because of old outdated religious norms, they are ashamed because they think they have to have the body of a movie star or athlete and scorn others that don't and themselves.
Out of all the comedy shorts 3 robots was one of the few I can safely say was good
The exchange between the robots was fun, the female robot being so cynical and least human was fun and the banter between her and the combat bot were great
>Things instantly freeze in space
How long is this bullshit misconception going to last?
Nonincel AmeriKKKan here, this user is full of shit. Half of the nation still wants to outlaw abortion and cannot distinguish between gender and sex. We are sexually repressed as fuck. We have school and church shooters because they can’t get a gf.
As long as it works for the story.
No. You are very much a incel playing into the identity war going on in america right now. If you werent trying so hard to be edgy you would see that. You are just exactly like what you are fighting. Doing outrageous things to get attention and for someone to make you feel validated about your life. All you faggots on the left, right, democrat, republican, all you idiots are doing is screaming for attention, saying me me me. Thats whats wrong about america. It stopped being about the dream and became about the individual. Fuck trump, fuck clinton, fuck it all. You're both wrong and you're turning the country into shit cause all you can do is blame each other instead of trying to make the dream real.
what happens then?
first one was nice hot monster action and alien spider one which he has probably fucked over and over again
farmer mechs and hijack train ones also pretty decent
rest i can barely remember
>alien spider one which he has probably fucked over and over again
He'd probably get to fuck that alien spider over and over again if he wasn't such a pussy.
The whole premise bothered me. Why the fuck are they doing spacewalks without a fucking tether?

It will eventually freeze but it takes a very long time since space is a near vacuum there is nothing for the heat to radiate out into except for the sparse water and air molecules here and there which become more and more uncommon the further you are from a planetary body.
The bigger issues with going unprotected into space are primarily asphyxiation followed distantly by radiation exposure and bodily fluids trying to escape.

could just be a cheap ass company, but yea
I would imagine that a tether costs less than a lawsuit
That's how I took it. Does the original short story make any mention of it?
How the fuck can they spend that much on a fucking solo space unit thing and a suit and not attach a fucking rope? It's not like this is some third world construction worker on site, this is space
It annoys me because it would have probably taken ten minutes in blender to fix. Just have her on a tether and the micrometeoroid slices it off when it takes out her EVA module
You know those stargate things they go through? In the short story they explain a bit more about it
They are all alien tech, and humans discovered how to use it, but have kind of no idea how it works. You can only go to the edge of the "Aquila Rift" with them because of some space clouds or something, and that's like a circle around 400 light-years away from Earth. Apparently these gates actually spanned throughout all of the galaxy but got severely fractured. Alien cultures use it too, but they also don't know how it works and they can't cross certain stuff, hence why the humans never found them.
The mother alien doesn't trap them, she genuinely wants them to be happy. She says there's been countless ships that got trapped there, but in the end Thom realizes they're the first humans that ended up there. Ray and Suzy are dead because their stasis pods were customized(something that can fuck with it in the story). In the end he actually sees a bunch of other aliens when he wakes up, but he ends up going under again but this time he sees Suzy and his wife waking him up, not Greta again.
It's a pretty great short story, didn't think i'd see it adapted into an animation
Agreed. I didn't so much have a problem with the twist being obvious as with the entire short being built around revealing twists. There was no other substance to it. "oh you aren't where you were supposed to be" "oh, and you really aren't where I said you were the first time" "oh, and I'm still lying to you after that, here's what's REALLY going on".
>They are all alien tech, and humans discovered how to use it, but have kind of no idea how it works.
Huh. Is that where Mass Effect got the idea for its travel for, do you reckon?
Having her life on the line every fight gave her an edge over her opponents.
It's possible, but "humans find ancient alien technology and use it to travel the stars without understanding it" is a common setting element, a dime a dozen well before Mass Effect came along
Teenagers irrationally hate stuff like this because it seems too silly and they get embarrassed that they aren't watching something more serious.
Adults realize not everything has to be serious, and can appreciate the humor.

Are there any lewds of the tall male robot in 3 Robots and the main beefcake in Suits (the ginger)?
Could you post this: I think all the people hating on Sonnie's Edge for being feminist are idiots. It's not feminist at all - she even outright states the whole rape story is stupid bullshit that people grab onto and cling to as a reason that she's better than the others in the arena. The entire point of the hot chick coming onto her was the statement "people see what they want to see" and her killing Sonnie was proving that point (and it wasn't out of the blue, she was admiring hot chic from the start - and face it, who can blame her?) It's not about feminism. It's about the desire to survive>all other reasons to win - even for hot chicks who hang out with dickhead fight coordinators.
>I still wonder exactly what she was eating

She was also starving to death and passing the time in a simulated reality, she just didn't want to be alone.

Also, why does everyone hate Ice Age? It's creative and visually nice, which is more than I can say for some shorts.

How was Lucky 13 barely a story? I thought it was pretty solid in the story it told
It was set during ww2 retard

Can I add Peter Watts or Paolo Bacigalupi?
>Dicko believed that was my edge because he wanted to. Male mentality. Couldn’t you smell his hormones fizzing when I told him I’d been raped? That made sense to him.
The absolute IRONY. The short's adapter was a complete retard.
What do you mean
>Guns take an automatic -20 to damage whenever in the hands of a female player
it has epic niggertalking character of course people will like it, it's in the programming, they don't want ot be called nazi
Read the short story.
Sonnie's rape is a lie. The story is basically a joke at the expenses of writers that give their strong female characters a rape backstory to justify their behavior... and the screenplayer that adapted the story completely ignored that and didn't give any indication the rape was ficticious, falling head first into the stereotype.
While patterns exist at some point you become so sensitive to certain things that you become the same sort of person you hate.
SJW's are bad because they are reactionary sexless, humorless wet blankets that take offense to everything, in staring into the abyss for so long you have become a reactonary sexless, humorless wet blanket that takes offense to everything.
Were any of the shorts cyberpunk though?
Maybe Sonnie's edge...Zima Blue?
I mean, she doesn't outright say it but it could easily still be true, why else have her story told so loud and blatantly in front of her, you usually dont just casually retell your friends rape in front of them to some guy.
It's to manipulate them, it doesn't effect her in any way because it likely didn't happen, it's a ruse.
Just Sonnies Edge, really. Zeman Blue was futuristic, but it didn't look dystopian beyond the one planet that gives you robot parts.
>Zeman
Zima*
Dunno where zeman came from
The Blindspot,Good Hunting and Three Robots all fit the technical definition of cyberpunk being about a mix of high technology and lowlife.
Good Hunting is Steampunk, Three Robots is just post apocalyptic with dark and light humor, beyond the tallest robot nothing is actually cyberpunk, The Blindspot is fitting though.
Big brain post. Sonnies Edge brainlets BTFO
I find it interesting how the most consistently praised short, Zima Blue, is also the only one that you can safely show to younger viewers and a great example that mature does not necessarily mean adult.
>Good Hunting is Steampunk
Only in aesthetic, plotwise it is very much cyberpunk, being about marginalized ethnic groups and criminals rebelling against a technologically superior government.
>Three Robots
Is about three shithead tourists acting like jackasses that just so happen to be robots.
Cyberpunk isn't defined by the presence of transhumanism and an overabundance of neon lighting.
it talks about suicide and suicide is one of the greatest sins you can commit, so it could be considered just as taboo as sex to some families and certainly not suitable for children
It cant be Cyberpunk if theres no fucking cyber to it, its 100% Steampunk
Steampunk CAN have those topics you know
>Zima Blue, Good Hunting
Neither of these were kino, they were okay.
Three Robots, Sucker of Souls, Suits, now those, those were masterpieces
That's what I just said
Cyber is just a futuristic sounding buzz word it holds no inherent meaning, "Cyberpunk" means "High tech + low life" it's the specific juxtaposition of futuristic technology and decidedly non- glamorous characters as a contrast to traditional sci fi which always showed advanced technology improving the lives of everyone.
>have a really twisted vision of what animations really is about
Are you an ESL? That english is incredibly broken. There is nothing "animation is about" mediums aren't "about" anything, and not seeing the purpose in putting tits and dicks in something in which the story is not improved or impacted by their inclusion is not only fair, but immensely reasonable.
I didn't like Good Hunting at all. Didn't like how the story was told, (so the guy turns his favorite prostitute in a killing machine that can easily overpower him... why?) and I felt the animation was on par with a low tier Last Airbender episode.
Cyberpunk is defined by the high tech computer era, not the steam powered era, good hunting is only steampunk, you can't just put these titles on anything and ignore aesthetics
Fair point, but I can argue that the suicide is done very subtly and is not even a full death with complete loss of function. Not for young children but depending on your views, could be safe for older kids.
>so the guy turns his favorite prostitute in a killing machine that can easily overpower him... why?
He got off to machinery.
He didn't think she'd fight back.
No chances for pregnancy.
Vibrating pussy.
Are you from the bearenstein universe?
Your post is dumb as shit, but it's fun to watch the ResetEra cycle where at first people earnestly enjoy something that's "problematic" and then the thread is crowded by the so-called ResetEra moral majority who like to tell people what to enjoy and think that any female nudity is terrible and exploitative. It's so funnily predictable.
I just want to know where the dude would run to. She ran to her sex show job, where would he go?
I don't know man, everyone keeps saying it was a waste of Toph and Mary but honestly it was just fun to imagine them as Eddie Brock and Ramona Flowers moving in together.
And yes, it was nice. I don't agree with the hate for it at all. Even my younger brother was able to appreciate that shit watching it with me.
>"That was actually pretty nice."
>"I know, right?"
The chaser isn't aware of a loop, only that there is a person who looks exactly like the person they killed witness them kill someone. The chaser isn't aware that the person they killed also killed someone who looked like them.
so is it a robot or an animal?
i'm still confused on how this thing works
Judging from how she looks, you're probably right about that. That face was not a face for chewing.
i wanna fuck this thing so badly and "her" to fuck me
A mix? Big dude had a knife in his arm
>starts out with moral of don't judge a book by its cover
>what you think are monsters may not be as bad as you believe
>except white people fuck them
>why does everyone hate Ice Age?
I didn't hate it but it was sort of pointless. Not that that's bad in and of itself, but when you're in an anthology where most of the other shorts tell a traditional story with a theme, something that's just weird for the sake of being weird sticks out and not necessarily in a good way.
I liked Blindspot, it felt like Megaman meets Mad Max.
It's a cyborg.
British colonists deserve no sympathy
This. This is what bothered me the most. One of the most simple, cheapest, and important bit of safety devices, a fucking tether. For a company that wants cheap but safe, they couldn't spring for a simple piece of nylon and kevlar? Noooo, let's use expensive backup jets.
Steampunk aesthetic or no Good Hunting features advanced technology that does not exist today and is about characters that exist on the bottom of society making it cyberpunk by definition you fucking autist.
A tether would have been literally the cheapest piece of safety they could have bought.
Biomechanical, probably a transgenic organism of some sort with a electronic nervous system and various cybernetic augmentations.
A twist doesn't have to come from left field to be good, they can be telegraphed and still be good. A good twist should always makes sense and should be somewhat obvious if you're paying attention.
>Good Hunting features advanced technology that does not exist today
And that technology is steampunk, not cyberpunk.
It features every generic steampunk aesthetic and even fucking automatons, there is nothing Cyber about it
The -punk part is about that, the word before it is the setting type. Hence steam, coal, cyber, etc. The settings change but the punk is still the same.
Steampunk always features technology we dont have, but its specifically based around the steam era, none of the technology is made with cybernetics, it's all gears and steam.
You act like as if it features technology we dont have and deals with heavy topics, it automatically is cyberpunk, completely ignoring the time periods influences.
It was too generic. And mainly, too american. What do I mean by this? The way the actors act is so US sitcom, is off-putting. Also, they didn't exploit the animation on any worthy way.
>You act like as if it features technology we dont have and deals with heavy topics, it automatically is cyberpunk
That is literally all that cyberpunk is.
"Steampunk" was coined as a joke for a specific subtype of cyberpunk fiction.
>there is nothing Cyber about it
What the fuck does cyber mean to you?
All just subtypes of cyberpunk
You guys are getting way too wrapped up in aesthetics rather than the content of the story.
You shouldn't really expose kids or older kids to the idea of suicide as a goal in existence since that little seed may grow into an obsession (or even just possibility) once they grow up.
I think it's because it wasn't actually animation.
Its fucking steampunk you actual retard, cyber in cyberpunk refers specifically to the computer era.
The content of the story is based around the fucking industrial age, British colonialism and steam/gear use.
Genetically engineered biobot. No real brains, but plenty of blood and gore for the fans. A tiny Evangelion.
>Google cyberpunk definition
>cy·ber·punk
>a genre of science fiction set in a lawless subculture of an oppressive society dominated by computer technology.

>For once in almost 50 threads people aren't raging that the show is sjw straw man against the noble white male

>Steampunk is T R A S H
I was about to ask, is there anything steampunk that is worth a shit?
>boo hoo people are arguing on Yea Forums
Way to miss the point of this site, retard.
>so the guy turns his favorite prostitute in a killing machine that can easily overpower him... why?
He didn't think she could overpower him. In the same scene he's beating her and she's cowering away before she turns and murders him.
1/10 made me reply
Even in real life men oftentimes listen to thier cocks before thier brains.
Lel that’s the exact opposite of what you should do. If your kid doesn’t find out about suicide/sex/drugs from you, he’s going to from school and the media. You don’t lie to your kid and pretend these things don’t exist, you answer their questions to the best of your knowledge. Repressing these things is how we get dozens of complaints ITT that the show is “edgy” and go down the incel rabbit hole.
>people liking Secret War
Best argument for eugenics.
>except white people fuck them
boy are you insecure. Good Hunting was about colonialism, not white people. nice to see you subconsciously acknowledge that modern genocidal war crimes have in fact mostly been by white people
I think nobody likes Ice Age because it’s been done dozens of times before and in much more fleshed out manners. If I recall correctly, the only instance it changes shifts the point of view is to make some dumb superficial joke about Eric and MEW watching them from above.
>why didn’t they fly the eagles into Mordor?
It was pretty good, the cat ending was dumb tho,
>BAWWWW the main character is a woman
Can someone explain this butthurt to me? Unless the main character has to be portrayed tugging his junk, there is no reason why the main character can’t be a woman.
A tether is an essential safety equipment in real life space walks.
2/10 got me to reply.
>Can someone explain this butthurt to me?
Mostly trolls trying to stir shit, there isn't much complaining in this thread.
Agreed
You did see the planes at the end?
You know we didn't have those in the civil war, right?
If this is about Sonnie's Edge it's just people being pissy that she took her trauma and used it to give her strength to survive and that there's less than two minutes of two girls fondling each other. It's all "unnecessary" but I'm pretty sure if Dicko had a cute blonde male bodyguard (still wearing the dress) who seduced Sonnie they wouldn't be complaining as much.
>that little seed may grow into an obsession (or even just possibility)
There are a lot of factors that have to be in play for this possibility to manifest, a mentally sound older child in a stable environment is not suddenly going to consider suicide as a serious option, and this short involves a robot with distinctly non-human anatomy reverting back to a simpler form, older kids can understand context.
If they added the tether, they would have just had it malfunction anyway. Sure it could have been an oversight, but the tether is inconsequential. It’s nonsensical to claim its omission detracts from the themes of the story. It’s like complaining about the eagles.
>Zima Blue is about suicide
Damn I'm dumb I thought it was like "everything was simpler when I was a kid so I'm gonna go back to that".
It is about appreciating the simple things in life. People that think it is about suicide are over analyzing it to find meaning that isn't there Just like pretentious art critics
>obviously she has a food source
She probably eats the survivors once they die. Not out of any malice or preference, I imagine, but simply because there isn't anything else to eat. It's just survival.
There are definitely elements of suicide to it, Zima straight up says he's shutting down higher brain functions and his body falls apart, though like said it's a pretty straight-forward story about finding satisfaction in simplicity.
>a black guy realizing he was happiest as a mindless slave
It's like pottery it rhymes
>>a blue robot realizing it was happiest as a mindless slave
fixed it for you

sounds suicidal IMO nothing wrong with having suicidal thoughts because everyone has them. actually it would be unhealthy not to in the shitty capitalist system we live in.
>tumblr's having a field day.
Sonnie's Edge was shit. Stop expecting men to apologize for existing. Stop blaming men for all your problems. Grow up and grow a spine.
>a blue guy realizing he was happiest not being a mindless slave of the spectacle
Who are you talking to
You, probably.
>How was Lucky 13 barely a story?
A ship survives 2 battles even though the crew doesn't. Except with this new pilot. And... that's it. Nothing particularly interesting happens, it just shows a battle and then she loses the ship. It kept showing the AI look at her so I thought something was going to happen centering that, but no not really.
It was literally just
>I won't die in this ship because people are superstitious
>I didn't
>The End
Felt like all the nudity in some episodes were really unecessary and just kinda were thrown to make it more "adult"
(You.)
Funk?

This.
Fucking THIS.
How the fuck you stupid men can't realize something so simple?! Fucking men! They did shit on the series without knowing anything!
Show it in Liberia.
Liked it way more than the Shape Shifters story. Both kind of similar (modern day military mixed with classic monster), but where Shape Shifters was so fucking self-serious, Sucker of Souls was a bit more tongue-in-cheek with its premise, and ended up a more enjoyable watch.
Both of them feel less like self-contained, complete short stories and more like proofs of concept. I got that feeling from a lot of the other shorts, too (Good Hunting suffers the most from how compressed and rushed everything has to be, and then it ends way too abruptly).
This is the objective truth:

stop using words you don't know
Eventually everything comes to an end. The prehistoric sea, the reliable old car, a career as a door to door salesman. The old man was willing to accept and move on while the young one refused to accept it. He was far to eager to jump at the opportunity and got wrapped up in something way over his head.
Why does everyone seem to love Good Hunting so much? I think it might be one of my least favorite.
The art style, animation, Chinese setting, etc. are all great starting points, but it was so rushed that the transition from the first half to "steampunk and terminators" gave me whiplash. It also ends so suddenly and anticlimactically. The theme is also so obvious and hamhanded that it's easy to get without getting anything from it.
If it had time to let things develop more organically and build to an actual conclusion, I think you could make something great, but as is I found it super underwhelming.
I thought it was good, but yeah it would do well to be a bit longer
Cringe
It's about the dangers of refusing to move on and nostalgic. The old man was able to accept that his car died and that his profession was dying out. The young guy couldn't. Thus the young guy leaped into the past and didn't fully see the dangers. He was literally looking at the world though rose colored lens. Why do you think that the fishes were all so colorful or why the shark was bright red?

You can say that about everything though, considering you can name something random and find somebody obsessed with it online. And sheltering kids from the world always does more harm than good, just looking around Yea Forums shows that.
I don't get why you people like Suits so much, next to Ice Age it was my least favorite short
Everything about it's mech designs, music, characters, enemies, etc., was as generic as it could possibly be
It looked like the trailer to a shitty phone game
>It looked like the trailer to a shitty phone game
You're totally right. I thought it was one of the cheapest and weakest, and I don't get why people like it so much.
I really liked Sucker of Souls.
I thought it was charming, it wasnt deep but it was entertaining and I enjoyed the style.
Rednecks that pilot mechs are cool.
It was pretty good, had somea great animation and cool scenes, and although not really related to the whole anthology, it had a good story, but holy shit that kill on the glasses guy was way too gory and exagerated and why the fuck did he have to die also?.
The mix of rural everyday farmers piloting mech suit vs. Alien invaders was enjoyable, probably would be a generic game but it works as an animated short, it doesnt overstay its welcome
>Pretty much everyone agrees the two Alastair Reynolds adaptations, Beyond the Aquila Rift
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh...
Wasn't feeling it, chief. The monster looked like it was basically designed to fuck with human sensibilities, which kind of ruins the point it had to make. It would have been better if it had been somewhat desirable with some really disturbing caveats or just completely outside our experience, instead of a Dead Space enemy.
Full Metal Alchemist. If you like anime. Its the only thing I can think of right now.
Except for the furries.
I thought it was just sort of a retelling of the story of Icarus and Daedelus.
Because not everything has to be life changing, deep and up its ass serious. It's a fun premise and a reminder that entertainment can be entertainment without the baggage people like to put on media these days.
Shape-Shifters was aggravating. I can't tell what it was trying to say. So he leaves after having to go off and kill other werewolves to avenge his werebro as part of a fucked-up war in which he isn't wanted or has no part except to protect the werebro who died. It's implied that werewolves are a sort of separate minority that humans aren't around much and that humans discriminate against, but both of the American weres look, speak, and act exactly like good ol' boys and there's no apparent love lost between them and the Afghaniweres. So... what's the backstory for this world? Because everything is kind of schizophrenic. I'd expect segregated werewolves to be culturally differentiated from the humans, at the very least.
It's frustrating because there's a lot of potential in treating a werewolf society as a serious element in a story like this. Instead it was just used as an excuse for RIP AND TEAR and a stale racebait-y morality play. Even sort of addressing the weird racialization of lycanthropy in works as of late instead of playing straight into it like a moron would have been nice.
If you want monster tits just say it bitch
Dear god I can't believe how many people liked Beyond the Aquila Rift please be less whipped kids.
What was your problem with it
>It's implied that werewolves are a sort of separate minority that humans aren't around much and that humans discriminate against
Not really seeing them forming "minority group" in the sense you are talking about. It seems to be more of a novel, one in a million thing utilized by the military complex. And in the end the taliban as well.
It had tits. I already said, I just didn't want it to be a weird warped human spider thing like out of Dead Space. I've been unimpressed with Western monster design for about a decade at this point, there's no thought put into it. The reason why washisname chose to make the aliens in Childhood's End look like demons isn't because of the visceral repulsion people would have to such a form but because of the interesting psychological havoc it would wreak (because it runs counter to our higher order impulses, not our base ones). If you're going to ape that you can't just make a creepy crawly.
It didn't have tits, those lumps held eyes
The 'farmers vs aliens' premise was the only good part about the short
I got really hype after reading the synopsis for it, but was let down by how generic the designs, music and story were
No, it did not have tits.
Nice word salad though
I thought it was fine, it's just okay tier to me, really cant say it's bad
And it would have been a little better if they hadn't shot that reading in the foot by implying that MC and... Sobianski, was his name?... were close like brothers from before they enlisted. It really feels like there is some sort of "minority group" thing going on, but the writers were too lazy to really think it through.
it looked and felt like some extended trailer for a mobile game
Tit eyes.

But no yeah it definitely had tit-like protrusions.
I was wondering exactly why Shapeshifters annoyed me so much and you put into words, thanks for that.
Still, not really. Why would they act all surprised about the taliban being able to employ werewolves if it was relatively commonplace?
Maybe they got into some kind of government werewolf program together? Dunno.
I enjoyed the design of the mechs, how practical and very much like actual farm equipment would look like if weaponized. I'd also say the story was a damn sight better than the garbage Franxx's everything was.
>Am I suppose to praise a military trained man with a giga Chad body for beating up a civilian teenager and blind old man?
Yes, because even though the war is evil and dumb we have to Support The Troops (even when they do horrible, horrible things).
Not him (and I don't personally hate it), but what was amazing about it? Visually it wasn't above the rest pretty on par with ones like Lucky 13 and the Space arm throwing one (can't remember the name), and the story was just a It was all a dream, but you don't like reality so back into the matrix you go which has been done before
The information we got from conversations between the protags and the treatment they got from the soldiers was telling enough for me to get the idea that they are a minority group, and one that isn't treated like the average human. You can even judge from the Taliban werewolves' secretive behavior of attacking at night instead of during the sniper attack where it would have been more successful that they weren't welcome on their side either.
That's kind of what I meant with the weird race shit, there's an implication that Afghans can't be werewolves (whoops).
Lycanthropy in the modern era has always been sort of a way to play with or examine white dudes' connection with primal-cy (primal-ishness? primacy?). But at that point you're starting to wade into noble savage territory - if the werewolf is your protag - so I don't know why they can't just unpack the notion in a calculated and intelligent way.
Signed, a guy who is writing a short story about a mixed protag with latent werewolf and werehyena heritage and the internal and external pressures he feels as someone who shouldn't be.
A big difference to me is that the alien was sympathetic, you have to look past her terrifying appearance, she really is just trying to keep lost souls in a state of peace before their inevitable deaths, it's a tragedy, and in a way feels more like her story, when the final shot shows you how many people have accidentally ended up there, she's done this so many times, and it breaks her heart, but she keeps it up.
Some examples of this? Only recent werewolf story that put emphasis on the race or gender in its themes is ginger snaps and that retarded Maneaters comic.
*that I remember
>That's kind of what I meant with the weird race shit, there's an implication that Afghans can't be werewolves (whoops).
>Lycanthropy in the modern era has always been sort of a way to play with or examine white dudes' connection with primal-cy (primal-ishness? primacy?). This is a retarded connection to make. The werewolves are treated as high-end military technology. The taliban are expected to lack the means of producing one, in pure technological terms. Not because they are brown, but because they are poor. Discovering the taliban had a nuke irl would be equally surprising.
The protag as a black guy or whatever would've worked just fine. Do something about your inferiority complex.
>Lycanthropy in the modern era has always been sort of a way to play with or examine white dudes' connection with primal-cy (primal-ishness? primacy?)
Well this has no basis in reality.
>This is a retarded connection to make. The werewolves are treated as high-end military technology.
I'm... not sure where you got this idea.
It's... part of the subtext of almost every werewolf movie in recent memory. Vast majority of werewolf protags are white dudes. Human = civil, werewolf = wild. And in the codifier of the modern werewolf, The Wolfman, it's not subtext, it's just text. RACE WAR NOW is a large part of many of these pieces (Underworld, WoD, Twilight, True Blood, etc.). Put it all together and the focus is pretty obviously on exploring racialized notions of civility (not just who is civil or uncivil but what actions are civil or uncivil and whether civility synonymous with morality or not), often by subverting those notions but still drawing on them.
The main exceptions are films where the lycans are Native American, where we tend to see explicit noble savage cliches.
>I'm... not sure where you got this idea.
It's pretty fucking straightforward. Way more so than your tryhard idpol'd race theories.
>It's... part of the subtext of almost every werewolf movie in recent memory. Vast majority of werewolf protags are white dudes. Human = civil, werewolf = wild. You are absolutely fucking retarded.
>Vast majority of werewolf protags are white dudes.
Like most protagonist in media from a country that is a majority white
>Human = civil, werewolf = wild
Werewolves are wild, wolves are wild, humans are quite literally the only thing civilized because we're the fucking benchmark by which we define the term.
>RACE WAR NOW
Conflict as a driving force in media is not new, modern, contained to this context, nor is a Werewolves vs Humans/Vampires a fucking concept that has anything to do with exclusively white people,
>Put it all together and the focus is pretty obviously on exploring racialized notions of civility

This has to be bait. The short literally says the dog soldiers were created,.as in engineered, a feat that requires, scientist, research, FUNDING, something the Taliban, a group with heavily waning political, military, and social influence absolutely does not fucking have
Me too
Pretty sure Netflix thinks we're fags
Werewolf fiction has always had a variety of races for characters and human vs beast themes are universal, your viewpoint makes it sound like someone who isnt white wouldnt struggle with being a fucking murder machine. Or that other themes aren't explored like religion in Silver Bullet. Also trying to make Twilight an example of anything werewolf is embrassing, fyi.
You can tell she's into it
>The short literally says the dog soldiers were created,.as in engineered
Uh... where?
I remember the conversation in the mess tent, but he didn't say they were engineered, just unnatural.
Right, so you agree that everything I mentioned in terms of support for my conclusion is true, so can you tell me why the conclusion that follows from it all isn't?
Yeah, same, what's wrong? I've remebered some anons saying that they got the shorts in another order, what's up with that?
>Werewolf fiction has always had a variety of races
Tokenism doesn't count.
>your viewpoint makes it sound like someone who isnt white wouldnt struggle with being a fucking murder machine
I didn't say that. I said that the people writing these things are making a comparison between civility and wildness, and that since unfortunately Hollywood hasn't shed its propensity for racial stereotypes, the shorthand they fall back on for contrast's sake is using a white dude (which just happens to fit in with the general desire to have white male leads). (The murder machine thing is also a problem but yeah).
>Or that other themes aren't explored like religion in Silver Bullet
You can have multiple, even overlapping themes in a work, user.
>Also trying to make Twilight an example of anything werewolf is embrassing, fyi.
For better or worse, it was an influential series that made using dire wolf-style werewolves a thing again after years of giant drowned rats and rubber suits, however terrible the movies themselves were. For what it's worth, I'm not really happy with any aspect of that, but it's worth mentioning.
You're a treasure. Never change.
That's the order it was in the torrent.
Is gearpunk or dieselpunk at best. These miscellanous aesthetic-only punks like steampunk and diesel have certain time frames, Good Hunting being in a similar period comparable to the late 1800's to early 1900's.
FMA clearly more similar to diesel 1940's era with the german references.
When I first started it, it was that one with the remote control monster pit fighting lesbian, but for some reason it was the third episode in the line up instead of the first.
Yeah same. It's really nothing special
>Tokensim dont count.
Then four of your examples dont count because they have nonwhite werewolves as protags.
>I didn't say that. I said that the people writing these things are making a comparison between civility and wildness, and that since unfortunately Hollywood hasn't shed its propensity for racial stereotypes, the shorthand they fall back on for contrast's sake is using a white dude.
If they were using racist shorthand the werewolves wouldnt be white, but playing up on the otherness of them by making them black, Mexican, whatever like Bright did. RACE WAR NOW doesnt work when the vampires and werewolves are both handsome white guys with only surface level shit to separate them.
>You can have multiple, even overlapping themes in a work, user.
If you've seen Silver Bullet, you'd know that none of its themes had to do with a white man being the werewolf.
>For what it's worth, I'm not really happy with any aspect of that, but it's worth mentioning.
Using Dire wolves doesnt change the fact that Twilight doesnt touch any of the white man vs savagery themes you're pushing, It's about a pampered snowflake dumbass teen wanting to fuck the lamest vampire in fiction and the werewolf grooming their daughter to fuck in the future. And using Twilight for identity politics is a new low.
Not him, but
>have literally any conflict between two groups
>GUYS ITS ABOUT RACE
This is where you go full retard. You could just as well go
>GUYS ITS ABOUT GAYS
>GUYS ITS ABOUT AUTISTS
>GUYS ITS ABOUT DISCRIMINATION AGAINST TUVAN CONSCRIPTS IN THE RED ARMY DURING WWII
It's so fucking stupid. But the most obnoxious thing is how perfectly and stereotypically conformist you are to "progressive" trends in cultural criticism. Aka, arrogant asshole pseuds thinking they're saving the world for shoehorning inflammatory shit into completely random fucking places for their 526th imdb review.
is completely right. Conflict is about conflict and people will draw parallels to conflicts they know. If you made a cartoon about a rabbit who wanted to marry a cat people would call it a remarkable testament to LGBTQ+ rights but previous generations would say it was a strong message about interracial relationships.
You aren't wrong but interpretation varies from person to person.
Damn I thought it was some kinda homo don't ask don't tell type stuff. They were a little too touchy feely
The army always comes off a little gay due to being stuck in shitty cramped camps for months on end in shitty locations. Funnily enough shower drains being clogged due soldiers taking some "alone time" is a common issue.
No the behavior of the wolf soldiers is extra gay. on top of it. They might've been going for brotherly but the forehead touch shit is pretty gay.
Not really, that move is really old and really common in sports too. Shit's like a trope in sports and war movies too.
Fair but they still seemed pretty gay moreso than usually army gayness
People possibly, unironically defending Shape shifters. Jesus fucking Christ, I share a board with these mongaloids. I bet you wish that was you - a strong werewolf in the military. Awoo~~~~
Werewolves are hot
>implying I'm gonna let such an elaborately retarded RACE WARS interpretation fly
I thought it to be dull and pointless, if you have to know.
To be fair to Thom - it's spewing nasty shit as she gets it to him.
It's bad enough it's an alien spider, but it's an alien spider that's casually spewing its waste as it approaches

The moral of good hunt is not "durr colonialism is BAD". The moral is you should adapt to the progress, but there will be people whose make horrible things with that progress so you should fight them. The colonialism is not implicitly bad.
>What did Yea Forums think of Love Death and Robots?
How 'bout you throw me a Google Drive or MEGA link and I'll let ya know
It has spanish subtitles, the quality is not that good, there's a bit of lag and It's just the first 9 episodes, can you work with that?
Just finished watching it and holy shit. Some of them were actually pretty great, though the last two were kind of lack luster (AH and secret war). Gotta say, sometimes the animation got ridiculously realistic. Like, the background objects for Aquila rift looked real and so did the faces for Lucky 13 (though that could be because their face were behind masks). Can't say for sure since my eyes are shit but they looked pretty damn realistic at times. Zima blue and Fish nights were really good. I liked Good hunting and the witness for fap bait. Sucker of souls was nice for simmons alone.
Technological progress aside, it's quite biased. You wouldn't really get away with depicting any other ethnicity in such an unflattering light in relation to another as the Europeans are relation to the Chinese in this one.

Sonnies Edge and the Dump were great though

Nah, the monster rape scene and ranting white antagonist was pretty explicit. Yea Forums talked about how the original story didn't have any of that shit. It was very clearly meant to provoke a reaction by touching on political themes.

These days you can get nonstop CGI action spectale from a LoL short designed to sell new skins. Excuse me for asking something with a little more meat from a series that was sold to me as a way to showcase the best the mediums has to offer.
At least they're better than Chinese colonists
werewolves are cool, i don't understand why fact they sexually arouse some people makes you so angry
>t. furfag
i just found it weird they let him leave camp like that, i expected him to be in big trouble when he got back
Netflix literally can't help themselves with showing politics in the places it doesn't belong.
Also they are incapable of creating original and not generic stories at all. Sad really, trailers were promising.
So the only thing we can praise is animation since stories are either meh or dogshit. Threfore the good ones are:
>Three robots
>Aquila Rift
>Secret War
Others are just waste of time.
I was honestly kind of thinking theyd shoot him to make it "deep"
Fuck that, Suits was awesome
Suits was meh. Generic story and pixar animation-tier. Nothing special about that.
>so you agree that everything I mentioned in terms of support for my conclusion is true,
Literally never said I agree with a single thing in support of your conclusion. And your conclusion is a far stretch from any of the retarded things you said supporting it. You are making a leap from a fantasy creature to racial ideals, and that's almost so devoid of any reason that's it's mind blowing
>Hollywood hasn't shed its propensity for racial stereotypes, the shorthand they fall back on for contrast's sake is using a white dude (which just happens to fit in with the general desire to have white male leads)
>just happens to
There is literally no other reason. The protagonist is a white male because the short was created in a country of majority white people, portraying a character from that country. There is absolutely no other reason the character is white and the story would not even slightly be affected if he wasn't.
>(The murder machine thing is also a problem but yeah)
So you have no idea what the fuck a werewolf is do you? Being a murderous beast is a part of the package, no racial notion, or other social issue you're attempting to force into the topic about it. Wolves are wolves

You can't just add '-tier' and pretend what you're saying has any meaning whatsoever.
The witness did not have to have a naked woman through 50% of its run time, nor did it need to go through a fetish brothel.
Nudity worked in the Witness as a visual metaphor for the girl being "exposed" and "unprotected" against this man she thinks is a killer, as well as emphasizing the gravity of the situation by not even giving her the time to dress properly.
Fetish brothel was excessive though, yeah.
Should reactionaries be allowed to go on the internet? Half of this thread is complaining about the nudity and nonconforming themes the show was marketed to have from the beginning.
I mean maybe? I think that works against the story premise, though, of them being in a murder loop, as presumably she now chases down the guy, still naked, and gets killed by him, and the guy is wearing a full on parka.
Other issue with the Witness - what kind of city is that freaking empty in the middle of the day? It was like they were the only two people there, everyone else in the whole town was crammed in the fetish hotel.
Actually, now I want to see part two of this, where a crazy naked bloody woman chases nerdy parka guy through his accounting job.
>people want to fuck wolves
>so shape-shifters is shit
>people want to fuck the spider wife
>lets all praise Aquila Rift as the greatest
>what kind of city is that freaking empty in the middle of the day?
I figured it was some sort of purgatory, what with the time loop
Wanted to post this in a thread that's not about to die but I guess this will do.
Ice Age was better when Japan did it and the civilizations were digital beards on the faces of children.
Why do you guys try overanalyze this animation that clearly isn't meant to be a literal and concise story, let alone logical?
It took palce during ww2, he mentions the red army is pinned in Stalingrad. He only references the civil war to talk about when the Cheka agent tried to summon the monsters ("in 1919") but he had been frozen for ages.
