>Heca-Emmem Ra statue >Almost certainly a captured vril maiden in it >Memnan Saa is too autistic to ever crack it open and get the willing aid of a pre-human super-being And so we get the entire plot of the BPRD for the last four mini-series, instead.
I do love this part. The smug... Sino-Russian? Mongolian? Whatever, this smug lightly supernatural being has been condescending and acting like a great master this whole time, showing off left and right. But he tries to get into a fist fight to prove his capability, and Abe throws CQC at him, flooring the monk.
Is Martin supposed to be Asian? I thought so when he was first introduced, but then with his name reveal and his origin as an English Egyptology expert, I thought it was a swerve. He's not drawn like any of the other Asians in the books, at least.
Well, first, Johan could leave his suit, fly up and get an idea of where to go. Second, the guide was surprised that no one was "lost" in the maze, which to me speaks of something screwy going on. A spell maybe, that slows down people with aggressive or malevolent thoughts.
Probably my favorite moment in all of Hellboy. Lobster's final wish, his idea of justice, is to fight evil in the afterlife forever. The absolute idea of his essence of who he is, being so powerful that even in the afterlife, after so many years drifting, has this conviction. I fucking love it.
Idols to the Spider and the Fly were last referenced in Hellboy: The Island. We know that the ruling class in Hell are members of the Order of the Fly, but the Spider is an unknown element. Some people think it refers to the original fallen Watchers who landed in Hell. At one point I thought it referred to the vampires, especially when I saw Anders' crazy battle form that he used against the witches.
Saa is the fuck up. His plan would never have worked, he's been rendering Liz useless for months, he's prevented mankind from harnessing and weaponizing Vril in the past, and he's actively worshiping Hecate, who herself, wants to bring about the end of the world. His plan was to sit up in his palace and use Liz to hold off any invaders that come. But his methods were limiting her, and he didn't even understand how to use her power safely, as evidenced in him picking up her flame and then burning himself to death with it. As you can see in King of Fear, she'd be capable of wiping out the entire frog and moleman army by herself in the right circumstances. If she was sequestered away, then the Flame and King of Fear would have kept growing those Ogdru-mecha until it was impossible to stop them. Then, when the Ogrdu-Jahad came down, Saa would have been screaming about destiny or whatever while he was crushed to death. Plus the Ogdru Jahad count him as one of their agents.
No problemo guys One of my favorite side characters
Juan Young
this is ironic as he would become far more powerful than this man and do things even he couldn't imagine, even if it costed Kraus's existence to pull off.
Jack Williams
The Zinco line changing hands will always amuse me. Zinco-Davis CEO: Got mixed up with corruptive Left Hand combat mecha, exploded by the Lobster's gang Zinco: Fell in league with a Russian sorcerer and his batch of frozen Nazi super scientists, exploded by a failsafe Pope: Nazi-fanatic, became supernatural burning skeleton, exploded by Liz Marsten: Created a slavery fiefdom in NYC, murdered by a Russian zombie McDonald: Struggled with all the horrible shit she saw, and maintaining her own authority, led everyone into the subway system for mass suicide
Dylan Peterson
Ah, shame. Was hoping for some delicious twists to the plot. Enjoying it anyway, even tho the art is shite. Man, I remember the first Hellboy issues drawn by Mignola, they were something, but this is just uggo crap.
That's one of my favorite subversion of character expectations. There's a Ghostbusters Tabletop RPG podcast I listen to and there is EPA agent stooge they think is gonna be a jerk for like the first half season but he's a total bro
Henry James
The Bond Company Stooge was the real hero of that story. Gets abducted by pirates, helps with his escape, rescues another guy, figures out a way to cut corners and save Zisou's production and... youtube.com/watch?v=DOnZWuPKBwI
Oliver Kelly
eh, Hecate isn't 'wrong', the world burning and the frog men inheriting it is still whats going to happen.
only Kraus blowing up one of the Jahd has been off script from all the prophecies we've been told since the very start, that ONE action is the only deviation.
Henry Stewart
Oh fuck, Nemo is in on it too?
Adam Lopez
He's the one who sunk south-east Asia.
Eli Wright
How?
Andrew Bennett
The BPRD didn't know about all the bombs he and the rest of the Oannes Society had planted. Edward had planted a number of new ones on his previous trip out and Panya didn't have a chance to steal that information from his head, yet. So several went off, devastating the region, and McWhirter was there, ready to collect the souls of the dead with his machine.
Even if she's not wrong, she's an asshole. "I came to set men free. What they did with that freedom was their own fault." "I came to hand knives to toddlers, what they did with those knives was their own fault."
Easton Brown
Awesome

>Turn light on >point it in his own face why?
Austin Miller
what a dick. I was on the fence about him until this point
Bentley Smith
Just wait
James Miller
Devon's a dick but Abe kind of has it coming at this point of BPRD.
