Any other cartoon or comic where the author hates the MC and becomes irrelevant? Really, I want to know if this has happend before.

You could argue Adventure Time, but that's more of a case of the "authors" changing - Pen Ward had nothing to do with it after season 4

I don't think that Slick was ever portrayed as a hero so much as an extremely flawed person desperate for sex (but actually just wanted companionship), and these panels convey pretty succinctly how Tatsuya seems to be wholly disconnected from the original point of the comic now.

>Sinfest was never good, but decent
Disappointing on what the comic is now.

Loud House too.

making them irrelevant is not the same as "hating". Lots of fictional creations undergo awful awful trials at the behest of their maker. Irrelevance suggests the writer/artist wishes to explore different parts of the world they made, and inserting the MC into these new stories would feel way too out of place.

What it hurts is how he acknowledge Slick is a backround character.

It's a shame that Sinfest went the way it did. It used to be a nice little comic, now it's hard not to believe that it's satire.
But I don't think Tats would play such a long con, I think he's serious.

tats got up his own ass. white chick problems are no problems anywhere

>Irrelevance suggests the writer/artist wishes to explore different parts of the world they made, and inserting the MC into these new stories would feel way too out of place.
Yes, he wants to explore feminist shit and the few times Slick shows up everyone shits on him. Tats hates Slick because he is "problematic"

Maybe its a sign of rejecting who he used to be.

Hot take: If Tatsuya is a guy, and Slick may as well have been a self-insert of sorts, then perhaps he's ashamed of his past behavior/world view.

Slick and Monique split protagonist duties, but neither of them are conventionally heroic. The hero(s) of a story needn't necessarily be the protagonist, and the villain doesn't have to be the antagonist. OG Sinfest isn't really a comic of heroes and villains, it's mostly flawed people who disagree with each other. The nuance made everything feel grounded and believable in spite of the presence of aloof deities and lascivious demons. That's part of why new Sinfest is so depressing to read. The charming character interactions and quizzical didactic conversations that the comic was known for became secondary to Tat's proselytizing.

I know not Yea Forums, but Orange is the New Black. Fuck piper.

Homestuck

So you're saying he hates how he used to be good?

So I guess you also never tip stripper.

Blaster Nation, I think? The comic seemed to forget about the MC after he moved out of his parents and friends and into a gaming house. Not like he was particularly interesting, anyway.

Pretty much every modern thread about Sinfest is basically speculation and lamenting. I can understand why but honestly, it seems to be all that's left to say for it. Since ol' Tats is so quiet and so up his own ass on his way of thinking we'll never know why or how exactly this came to pass, only that it is and will be for as long as sinfest continues to exist.

There's mystery here, yes, but the tragedy overshadows it. I just get sad being reminded of a comic I used to enjoy that went down the shitter.

To be fair, he's just there for the buffet and she didn't cook it.

Oh, yes. I guess Blaster Nation does count. I don’t even remember the MC’s name.

I too, also see the same posts over and over again.

What I don't see is people sharing the comic strips that they miss so much. All I know about this comic is that sometimes the nerdy boy shared some romantic feelings with a devil girl. Anything else?

Never been, sorry.

They get posted from time to time when people get in a reminiscing mood. I remember this one comic of Slick and Monique getting posted here of Slick throwing messages in bottles into the ocean. Forgot what it was about, but I do remember people cooing at what a touching and emotional moment it was.

This comic is exactly the kind of neoliberal feminism that I as a progressive leftist absolutely detest. It could very easily tackle real world issues or involve an actual nuanced discussion but instead it encourages an intentionally inflammatory and ultimately useless dialogue that seeks to jerk off the authors imagined feminist credentials.
Also it's cringy as fuck.

Why're you folks here if you never read the comic? Go do that. You will know when to stop when the tricycle midget shows up a second time.

I forgot Frist the cat kinda did that, except Crumb just killed him.

You're plainly not familiar with Sinfest threads if you think people would actually want to read it as it is now. Shit's basically torturing yourself.

I don't get how Tats can genuinely feel such extreme shame over the way Sinfest used to be. There's nothing in it that would be offensive to anyone except foaming-at-the-mouth religious fundamentalists and sex-hating TERFs like Andrea Dworkin. I mean, there are jokes about sex and swear words, but that's setting a pretty low bar for outrage. I guess it could be that Tats thinks his old work is crude and juvenile, but 1) old Sinfest really isn't that crude and 2) his feelings are much stronger than just mild embarrassment. This is where the comic moves out of the realm of politics and into the realm of mental illness. I don't like making baseless assertions about an artist's personal life, but Tats' sudden shift into fanaticism makes me wonder if he suddenly developed schizophrenia as an adult, like Terry Davis. It certainly shows in how conspiratorial and unfocused his new strips are, especially with how everything in this fictional world is connected to the patriarchy vs. sisterhood conspiracy. The specific ideological message gets very murky, with the only connecting threads between strips being that sex is evil and that humanity needs to be purged for its sinful behavior.

If Tats is indeed struggling with mental demons of some kind, I only hope that he'll someday get the help he needs. If I was a fanatical r/the_donald browser, I'd probably say something vindictive about how he deserves his mental anguish for being a feminist, but that's a horrible thing to wish on another person. Having schizophrenia or a similar disorder is a fucking nightmare, both for the person who has it and for their family. His hatred of sex and humanity (and by proxy himself for being a human who has sexual thoughts) is not the product of a healthy mind.

Don't forget that far-right fucks can use stuff like Sinfest as evidence that all of feminism is evil and needs to be eradicated even though Tatsuya's brand of feminism is uniquely a product of his madness. They look for instances of leftist excess and use it to lend credibility to their reactionary beliefs. It's like how for years now they've been using the same photos of alleged SJWs making dumb facial expressions (IE, the lady with red hair and glasses who made a sneer, that chick with the glasses and black cap who got upset while protesting the inauguration, etc) to lend a face to the misdeeds and excesses of the "SJW menace" or whatever. It's all just faulty generalization, confirmation bias, and strawmanning, but impressionable people who want to have their views pandered to eat it up without questioning it.

It bothers me when people do that kind of stuff, irregardless of what their political affiliation is, because nothing in real life is that simple. The world is full of nuance and complexity. Strawmen are not real people. No one in real life acts like the imagined "dumb socialist millennial" character in those Turning Point USA memes, or the characters in that asinine "Modern Edukayshun" video, except for a handful of extremists like Tatsuya.

I don't think you have to be "alt right" or even right wing at all to dislike feminism or strongly disagree with it.

That' what they all say.

>They look for instances of leftist excess and use it to lend credibility to their reactionary beliefs
What would rightist excesses be?
Women losing the right to vote?
Mass deportations?
Reintroduction of Western colonialism?

Slick and Squig's behavior was never lauded or put on a pedestal or anything though; as with most of the characters they were shown to be kind of pathetic and misguided. Arguably he's still kind of taking on that role in the two strips I saw posted in this thread, it's just taken to a bizarre new extreme in the ultra feminist liberation warzone the comic has turned into

>anti-pornography, anti-prostitution
what now
what's really weird is the anti-prostitution take, and specific words related to that being used in the comic, when this isn't something that normal people come across, ever, let alone engage with prostitution at all
this also misses the point with liberation of anything, because such position is oppressive
Interesting. What's at the meeting ends of a horseshoe? Mental illness.
It's almost like incel, same underlying, but flipped like this
If anything, it's worse in it's righteousness, and actually annoying
like and, his hatred of himself isn't by proxy, it's first and foremost, the source of all of it, because it doesn't actually go that way, but gets expressed outwardly like that

I actually think it's fascinating that the EXACT strip the comic went off the rails is known. 4045. October 3rd, 2011
I still remember when Yea Forums was going gaga for Crimeney to get with the demon girl. I can't believe it's ben 7 and a half fucking years now since this comic went batshit.

The Dog and Cat strips are pure gold.
Shame about the feminism

I agree with you but you said "irregardless" so fuck you.

Shooting up a mosque and trolling leftists into a culture war with pewdiepie references.

>What would rightist excesses be?
Terrorism

>this also misses the point with liberation of anything, because such position is oppressive

Not if you postulate that patriarchy has created a mental framework which denies women any agency of their own. Every whore has just internalized patriarchy, there can be no true feminist whore.

>Shooting up a mosque
That's religious. Muslims are conservative also
>and trolling leftists into a culture war with pewdiepie references.
Are you saying that the left is easily baited/triggered?

Terrorism knows neither right nor left wing, any ideology can adopt it. Some of the earliest terrorists by the modern definition of the word were literal Communists that killed Alexander II of Russia for example. Terrorism is just a means of achieving a political goal, but isn't any more inherent to the right or left than organizational structures themselves.

People always wanted more sisters in that show though, I just hate how much they push Luna now.

Strippers are awful all you’re doing is paying to get blueballed or prostitution with extra steps.

>That's religious. Muslims are conservative also
They are morally conservative, they are not conservative in the sense of wishing to conserve the society they live in as it exists.

They are politically aligned with the left, because they are all globalists and Muslims want to spread Islam.
>Are you saying that the left is easily baited/triggered?
All sides are easily baited and triggered.

>They are politically aligned with the left, because they are all globalists and Muslims want to spread Islam.
Except for wanting women to be submissive and quiet, homosexuals to be non-existent, religious entities to have large amounts of political power, and freedom of religion to be done away with
Globalist policies enabling them to move to other places doesn't mean that they believe in progressive ideals. They're anathema to their religion.
