What the fuck? Are we enjoying a new renaissance in animation thanks to Netflix?

The only real renaissance will be when Netflix dies with every other business in Hollywood's thirty-mile zone.

Kept thinking with CGI this fantastic, why so much edgelording.

We're Netflix: Goru, Saying FUCK. Padding. and Unnecessary Homosexuality. Because that's our fetish.

The 3 robots one was cute though.

>The 3 robots one was cute though.
>tfw you'll never explore the ruins of human civilization without getting cancer

Haven’t finished it yet but I like more than I hate.

I feel it’s a little front loaded with the first two being so fantastic that it hurt leaving, while the Chinese furry one was laughably bad.

Honestly over all it’s just so nice to see heavy metal again. I didn’t know what this was when I watched it, but it’s great how true to form it is to the HM name.

That’s why Zima Blue is the best, it’s all visuals and story telling. No edgy swearing or nudity.

>kino
This word mean: I'm retarded. Nothing what I say matters.

The shorts themself are hit or miss.

>Chinese furry one

What?

I want a sci-fi harvest moon/rune factory game with junker mechs.

This is just a retooled Heavy Metal reboot David Fincher was working on.

>garbage with like 4 noticable videos
>nobody cared about the theme
>good
Remember Netflix debt keeps building up every year and are on their last legal loan at this point. When Disney platform arrives, you can kiss them byebye.

Episode 8 Good Hunting.

It’s the non cg one about a guy who falls in love with like a werefox, then the future happens and Englishmen like to rape Chinese women. She gets like turned into a robot cause a fat guy has a fetish, so the original guy is about robots so he makes her into a werefox transformer and she kills rapist Englishmen.

Which is the best to fap to

Probably Witness. Good Pause and Toss, lots of scenes.

Suits looks like tech demo for Spider Verse. Actually a lot of these do.

depends if you like robots, asian prostitutes, or spiders.

I see that Americans hate this because it has penis and gay.
More reason to watch it.

The Chinese furry one isn't even that furry (It's a kitsune losing her magic over time and getting stuck in a human form, so Jackie Chan modifies her robot body to be a Transformer)

Now THE FUCKING werewolf one. That there is fur-bait

Creator of Witness literally visual designer behind Spider-Verse.

>with the first two being so fantastic
The first one was the worst

Barely felt that furry to me. Besides, its so fucking rare to actually have a good violent Werewolf fight I wouldn't have cared if it was.

Not that. It's like when they crowbar it in because they want to stoke controversial subject matter, not for romance or plot or anything. Just hollow unfeeling sex, without point or purpose to pad out runtime or weak story. Feel the same way if it was hetero or homo.

The book was way better, and it was a short too.

Biggest twist? she was never attacked or raped, she made it up to prevent people from figuring out she’s in the monster

Yes, yes, and no

In the interest of giving other shorts some discussion we should probably avoid that, all you need to know is a guy wrote a short twenty years ago that’s way smarter than the version we got.

But who cares! Zima Blue and Rift were written by the same guy, isn’t that weird?

Oh yeah! Aquila Rift also cleared up a lot of unanswered questions the short had.

For those a few threads back unsure if Spider was good or evil, books cleared it up. She didn’t kidnap anyone, she wasn’t alone on the space station, and she had means of feeding him, he just went crazy.

I feel like the short leaving it a little more unsure was better, honestly. You just see this horrifying monster and the situation he’s in and aren’t sure what’s true and false, like the simulation

>Feel the same way if it was hetero or homo.

I don’t know if Aquila Rifts would count, he’s not having sex just because, Spider is specifically trying to put him at ease and give him a better world to rest in than the hell and loneliness outside.

And, in the book, it’s to see if he still has feelings for his wife or would miss her knowing she died 150 years ago.

As opposed to necessary homosexuality or licensed homosexuality

Attached: 1541914007813.jpg (1192x1230, 179K)

Fucking retard. What was the point of the lesbianism and nudity in Edge? It doesn't make sense.

That works. It advances the plot.

Redpill me on this
The robot monster thing was kinda hot so I was considering watching the show

To pull off the honey trap. It's no different from Mystique slobbering over Mag's fatfuck security guard long enough to knock him out and inject iron in his ass in X2, or any time a female feigns interest in a guard/tech as a distraction.

Animator showcase, Sci-fi shorts. For "Adult" Audiences.

It makes sense in the book, the girl is seducing her to kill her because she lost a shitton of money, and seduction is the only thing she’s good at. This was personal and the only way to get close enough for the act, she didn’t even swing that way or like it, it’s just all she knew

Fish Night was a real downer. God damn. Talk about tonal whiplash

First episode is majorly altered from the original to dumb it down and make it more progressive, removing smart elements and key twists so it can badly jam in a cartoon villain and make it more progressive by making it stupid.

Drugs man, little bit is fun but go too deep and it eats you up

First episode blows hard and apparently was better in the short book so they actually made it worse but the monster fight it cool, second episode is enjoyable and chill with no real stakes just comedy, third episode is trippy as fuck but kinda plotless, fourth episode rules with comedy, action and heart, and from there you know if you’ll like it.

>Unnecessary Homosexuality

Attached: fuck youuuu.jpg (700x1248, 62K)

Looks like we're going to have to wait til all the CM butthurt to simmer down before we can actually talk about the rest of the damn anthology, since that moron from last nights already at again in another thread.

Or just talk about them like everyone else? Or are you still hung up on that? Talk about anything else, dumbass.

The short story and ep are almost exactly the same retard

Do you actually want me to point out the differences or are you just using it as a setup to whine about people laughing at a dumb short again?

Suits video game when?

Not that user but I’m genuinely curious, I love seeing the changes made in adaptation, especially for shorts.

Go on, the only difference is that the MC in the short story got badly injured in a car crash and the blonde didn't try to seduce her. That's literally it

t. homosexual

Not hung up on it all, just pointing out that for future threads and to avoid engaging so the threads don't turn to shit. Anyway, besides Suits obviously, what's another ep you'd like to see get the full series treatment? Shapeshifters and Last Stand feels like they has potential because I get the feeling that their worlds are used to the existence and weaponizing of the supernatural.

was prostituting herself the only thing she knew how to do? why didn't she seduce a rich man and marry him

Attached: 469907.jpg (400x224, 16K)

...because the rich men are english and they see chinks as subhuman?

I really don’t want to give them a reason to go at it, but damn it this is the same reason I read it last night, changes are fascinating when you think about it.

>The team starts out on really good terms with Dicko, Sonnie even plays nice and shows him Kharnivore and he admires it.
>The offer still happens, but it’s for a much lower amount because the sport is brand new, and since it’s not hugely popular yet they don’t make much per round. His reasoning why they should take it is pragmatic, they need to invest more in the future and Kharnivore is expensive to upkeep
>They still blow him off and use a much more toned down version of the rant.
>He just accepts
>The opponent is a purple dinosaur with stubby legs. Yes. You read that right.
>Arm blade happens, but Kharnivore never gets pinned and snapped his neck instead
>Dicko looks “morosely” but doesn’t react
>Honeypot still happens and betrayal still happens, but it’s for more personal reasons, she lost a lot of money.
>Honeypot girl is much smarter and pragmatic, we also get descriptions of her finger blades.
>Sonnies body had her spinal cord in it, that’s how she controls it.
>She tells Honeypot girl she never was raped, she was hit by a truck from a drunk driver, that’s just to trick everyone into thinking hate drives her, when in reality it’s survival. She could’ve been put back in her body in this one but chose Kharnivore.
>Ending happens, sans Dicko

Lemme clarify and rephrase that for you: Unnecessary SCENES of sexuality. (Seems to be the theme of the whole anthology.) Because adult audiences means grown ups have sex and say "fuck" to each other, and any teenager watching this will be confused as to why they are suddenly awkwardly aroused.

Because Netflix doesn't give a flying fuck who the audience is...they have to be EDGY to earn your attention.

That aside...there are the impetus of a few good stories in there.

Thank you! Fascinating to see how much different he Dicko storyline is. Also, Dicko, holy fuck what was he thinking.

No offense man but you can’t call changing her backstory, her interactions, her antagonists both in and out the ring and the ending in a short not many changes

Okay, that's a fairer and less psychotically homophobic critique.

I feel like it was probably necessary to get adults to watch it, since you have to overcome the "hur hur cartune r 4 babby" instinct. But I can also understand being annoyed by it.

In the interest of discussion, Zima Blue also went much more into the origin story, he was like this not because others added onto him, but because his owner used the pool cleaner to test new programs over and over, so every time he learned a new skill and the owner never wiped his memory. He himself took this practice to heart later, and a lot of his longing was feeling unfulfilled in his work while still remembering the simple pleasure of maintaining the pool.

The animation was generally great, but 95% of the writing was dog shit.

>shows up out of nowhere on Netflix

That's Netflix business strategy. Fund over 100+ shows, but advertise only a handful of them.

I've seen quite a few threads about it lately, what's it about? Without answering with the obvious joke, please.

It's actually pretty smart. It makes Netflix seem like a treasure trove of undiscovered interesting things, and encourages you to dig through their catalog.

In other words it’s comically racist

Animated anthology with a mature rating

SJW SHIT. First ep has a female lebso rape survior going around killing white males. It's trash

This was advertised, don;t be dumb

It's a bunch of disconnected animated shorts all of which have wildly different tone, theme, quality, and art style. The only real coherent theme to it is "not suitable for kids".

All of them are pretty short, you can power through the whole thing in an afternoon, so I would suggest you close this window and experience it for yourself before we ruin it for you.

>you are le dumb massah did all the efforts I posted a lot myself in his honour
how enslaved can you get holy shit.

If by "comically racist" you mean "accurate".

We're talking about the British colonization of Hong Kong here, in the 1800s. Racism was the accepted norm back then. Even if she did find a brit who would be willing to marry her, he'd be judged for marrying a chinawoman.

I wanna see some liberal arts college kid try to pull this one off. I dont mean the short, the artistic pool suicide

Attached: 1.jpg (1920x1080, 201K)

>Out of nowhere
It has been promoted since the last year, the fuck are you talking about?

Attached: IMG_4504.png (233x253, 60K)

Reminder that Sonnie's Edge is god tier

He didn’t die, he regressed back to a much more simple form so he can enjoy things on a more simple level that doesn’t require anything but enjoying what he is.

They just get a degree in women’s studies instead, much quicker

I'm bored of politics, porn when?

It's the sausage party problem. If you're an adult you have to be into gratuitous sex and filthy jokes.
Maybe I just want clever dialogue. Maybe a good twist or action sequence.
But instead it's this shit, again and again, with all the lasting impact of a used napkin.

F

Attached: Lucky 13.jpg (1844x882, 798K)

giving up great parts of yoursellf, mind and body, is pretty close to suicide. he probably feel great now that he can enjoy the simples plasures, but people probably feel like they lost someone. is close as it gets, also I just want to see liberal arts people killing themselfs and calling it art, because you know at least one of them thought about doing it

>got me to care about a non-anthropomorphised ship that didn't even talk and was only extremely ambiguously sentient
Lucky 13 is fantastic

Not that user, but as a teenager I remember getting pissed at the isis sex scene in the american gods book. Because even my 15 year-old brain could see it held no purpose and only served to re-attract the attention of all the idiots who needed a shiny, sexy object to enjoy a good story.
It happens all the time, and it works, so it's never fucking going away.
I stopped the TV show when it got the efreet BJ scene. It served a purpose in the book, and Gaiman moved through it at a decent pace. But the show fucking dragged on with it forever.

I don't think many teenagers will wonder why they think sex is hot.

>comically racist
You can't be this retarded.

Filler. Nothing more. I watched one on Prime like this too. Philip K Dick Electric Dreams or something. I like a good sci-fi story, but at least once per episode we had to pause for the gratuitous, out of left field, no context "fuck" scene. Then back to the story. I ended up fast forwarding most of the series. Turned what could have been and effective 25 minute short piece, into a 45 minute slog each episode.

That's the shit I hate. Tell me a STORY. If I wanted porn I'd go to Pornhub.

There's not much 3D robot porn on PornHub though, sadly.

>say show wasn't advertised
>say I shilled the show
So you realize you're contradicting yourself right retard?

>Because even my 15 year-old brain could see it held no purpose
It showed the nature of God's to be one of deal making and deceit. The encounter ends with the cab driver being transformed into an ifrit which is one in a long line of set-ups to prepare you for Shadows transformation into a God/king of America. It serves a vary specific purpose of foreshadowing the final conflict resolution but the show fucks it up, without the full transformation it's just gay fanservice.

So...we're not gonna talk about how we saw this chick as a kid buck ass naked?
But seriously my only problem with this short was that she ended up friends with the dude who's dad beheaded her mom.

Attached: Good-Hunting-Love-Death-and-Robots-Ending-Explained-1.jpg (1280x720, 135K)

same dude who didnt rat her out, and is not like she knew other humans who knew what she was and would help her

You can be comically racist and accurate.

The cop that tased a teenager for stealing from a grocery store while yelling “this is why there are no supermarkets in black neighborhoods!” Is comically racist. He’s objectively accurate, but racist.

/ourguy/?

>A new reaissance in animation thanks to Netflix
Have you seen the shit Netflix churns out? There's like, 3 good cartoon that are netflix originals

Just like the real Renaissance. I mean this seriously. You only get good stuff by encouraging lots crappy stuff to get made

That and streaming Anime. Trends follow the money where animation is concerned.

Helping Hand. Made my balls wince. That's effective storytelling.

We have no doubt you are a complete retard and an anti intellectual loser, no need to hide in the dark, you dumb piece of shit. Admit human studies weren't real, and kill yourself you fucking failure.

Watching them all. The Mocap is impressive as hell.

>3 good cartoon[s]
You're too kind.

That werewolf fight was excellent, I'd love to see a full film of just that

I remember Eric Andre said he wanted to set up an event where he would just fall from the ceiling or something and kill himself in front of a massive audience. Not sure if he was just being edgy, but I would really like to see that in my lifetime.

Uhhh...she WAS the monster. The twist was it was a monster controlling a fake human instead of a human controlling a mosnter.

yes, because she was put into the monster because of the accident

Right, but she was never attacked or raped. That’s a lie she made up to prevent them from figuring it out, she got hit by a car.

that was not clear in the short, and thats a shame

This series started off as a Heavy Metal project so the nudity and sex kinda makes sense when you look at it that way

It’s not clear because the writers saw that the white guy wasn’t the villain and that the rape story was fake and well, what happened next was pretty obvious

>The twist was it was a monster controlling a fake human instead of a human controlling a mosnter. The twist was it was a monster controlling a fake human instead of a human controlling a mosnter.
No. The twist is that her entire body was broken after the rape so her mind was uploaded on the monster body. She literally was fighting for her life every fight. But what you've said would have been pretty neat.

As an artist Zima Blue hit me the hardest.

Attached: 1491957461514.jpg (200x226, 8K)

Speaking of Zima Blue, was it made by the same studio that made Tron:Uprising? The art look similar.

I want Suits and Blindspot to be full series. It worked for Æon Flux.
The Secret War and Shapeshifters to be full movies

Yeah, that was pretty depressing, especially after the great chemistry the two had playing off each other.

Good animation ruined by horrible writing and hamfisted edge

>Good animation ruined by horrible writing and hamfisted edge

care to cite a specific example? i'm only half way through and i can certainly see it angering the incel demographic because of its nonconforming themes

Lucky is criminally underrated imo. Anyone who's ever grown attached to a bike or a car or any other machine knows those feels. Even if it's not conscious it develops a personality, it develops moods, quirks, etc.

>incel
>nonconforming
who hurt you?

>Dracula one ends there

>grrrr how dare you not eat Massah's delicious shit. I can't argument positive things to defend my choice, but I can list bad things you will be if you disagree with us.
yikes

>when he's fixing her ass

Attached: aya.jpg (1280x720, 55K)

bruh i just asked for an example of what constituted "horrible writing" and "hamfisted edge." if that post is what you call an argument, then i don't believe you passed high school english.

are you just waiting for western animation to die entirely or what

In the future I hope I can install a pregnancy module on my robot so I can impregnate my metal waifu!

Here we go again!

First one
>Shitty antagonist that is evil for evils sake, lacking any nuance or intelligence or even reasoning for why he’s doing what he does
>Has sassy black friend heavily exposition her backstory just because
>Announcer repeats her victories and abilities, does not for her opponent, telling us what she can do instead of what she’s up against, that’s sports writing 101.
>Makes the threat of loss null due to lack of any stakes besides “she might lose”, which is tension failing 101 when you’ve done nothing to develop this character but spit exposition.
>Villain returns at the end to cackle like a cartoon villain, sex scene serves no purpose because she could have stabbed her at multiple points before she spat out more exposition.
>Final twist doesn’t flow naturally because a lack of foreshadowing

And the reason this is more than just bad writing, but a complete failure of a persons artistic ability and a sign the writing was irredeemably bad? They copied a lot from the book, but none of that. None of that happens in the book. It takes a lacking writer to put that stuff in when it’s their own creation, it takes a special kind of failure to put in basic storytelling fuckups like that when you’re copying someone else.

>Unnecessary SCENES of sexuality. (Seems to be the theme of the whole anthology.)

If sexuality is a theme of the whole anthology then why are the scenes of sexuality unnecessary? Sounds to me like reactionaries are mad that their peepees are getting hard despite the dogma /pol/ teaches as reality.

It was directed by Robert Valley, the guy who did character designs for Tron: Uprising and Motorcity.

Those all may seem like valid complaints that focus entirely on the story, flow of the story, and the changes made to the story to suit a political agenda, but have you considered screaming roasties, incels, SJW or /pol/ instead? Surely one of those will get the point across better than critique of the story, then we can all pretend it’s not bad because thinking, but because feminism made them put it in/the strong independent woman scares them men!

Cool.

Obviously the true patrician.

Wannaberapebeast will never match the beauty of our Lucky 13. Godspeed, soldier, you took them out on your terms.

Lucky 13 was legit a story I wish had been a full movie, but accept was better as a short. The world was interesting enough to make sense, the characters got all they needed out of it, and then it ended on the perfect note. Battle goes on, but the story of Lucky 13 is over. I wanted more but accepted it was enough, like with Helping Hand or Night Fish. The universe looks great, I would watch a lot more, but it doesn't need anymore to it. It's kind of funny Sonnie's Edge didn't make me want anymore because apparently there's a trilogy set in this universe. Not starring her of course, she was too boring even for her creator, but there's a whole world here and this short really didn't make me want to see it.

Well how about that, Alberto Mielgo, the director of this was also a visual consultant on this He's also worked on Tron: Uprising.

>Unnecessary Homosexuality.
Homosexuality is ALWAYS necessary.

and he's some concept art for Peni Parker from the Spider-Verse art book

i honestly didnt like the way they portrayed giganta

Pretty glad they didn't go with this.

I can appreciate that opinion a lot more than that guy's "half-assed pretending to be a reasonable centrist but clearly just wants to complain about the gays" post.

means they manually key framed on every frame at 24fps. no tweening basically.

Yeah, a lot of the concept art is too goofy for Spider-Verse but it's perfect for The Witness.

On top of that, Sony animated one of these shorts. The one with the dropship.

That's only the first episode, dumbass.

Tell me, what other shorts have SJW "propaganda"? Or is it all nothing but that because of one short?

This board constantly sexualizes characters from children cartoons, but the moment you get actual nudity you start complaining. Must be some of that famous American repressed sexuality shit.

>want to see some PUSSY

Furry here, both are fucking furry.

If your fetish detector is off set it to "forced transformation/cyborgization" and you'll see how some fag is jacking off every two minutes to that piece of shit known as good hunting. Literally the first thing that happens is a lady is "Stuck in half human form." The entire episode is a vehicle for the author's fetishes and it's totally blatant if you know the sort of people that like that shit.

The werewolf one is stupidly heavyhanded about being a metaphor for fags in the military and is worse off for it, would have been better if it had been straight up about werewolves in the military, no pun intended.

Kharnivore is best girl, expect CGI models with lovingly detailed cloaca in the coming days.

I'm an idiot what do you mean with mocap, rotoscope?

Google exists. Try typing those words in it.

>mocap
Motion capture. actors perform and computers record it to apply to the 3d models.
>rotoscope
the practice of tracing over a video, usually of actors. pretty much 2d motion capture

He looks from Megaman X.

Why? He was cool.

Attached: Hilda confundida.png (550x600, 127K)

Both methods use real-life motion instead of manually animating, mocap is sticking motion sensors on actors and having a computer reproduce their movements on a 3D character rig, rotoscoping is tracing your drawings over real life footage. Think of it as the Greg Land method of producing a cartoon.

Is this animated? The preview showed normal people so I noped out of there.

A lot of people seem really critical of the yoghurt one

Something about the combination of simple farming folks trying to get by combined with the sci-fi aesthetic just really clicks.

It was a trip but I felt like the voice acting style didn't match the visuals. They got voice actors who usually specialize in more anime/cartoons but the designs were more on the realistic side. They should've gotten film/tv actors for that one. and I usually hate it when they do that

>NO Mocap, NO rotoscope, why would we do that?. Dave Pate , Adrian Millington and their animators team did all KEY animation. Is the style / technique we like and love to preserve. They are the finest animation artist out there. Nothing compares.
And yes MAYA.

>"And yes MAYA"

Part of the quote

Fucking NO. It's not the sexual content that irks me. It's wasting of my time with it. Like you are.

This was so well animated but I regret looking online at responses to this episode. Based on this episode and Good Hunting apparently some people are accusing this show of being “cis-het male-centric” and sexist in it’s “fetishization of Asian female victimization”. It’s fucking ridiculous. It’s like these people didn’t actually finish any of these episodes or watch the rest of the show.

I've seen people people with extreme opposite of that opinion on those episodes too. I guess they're good art.

I’d agree. And I could see the argument in the opposite direction for, say, Good Hunting. But I don’t understand the argument made for “The Witness”. Are people saying there’s some kind of empowerment angle in that episode? I mean I know that she winds up murdering / chasing the guy at the end of the episode but I think it’s kind of a stretch to construe that as an empowering ending for the MC.

The guy at the end didn’t hurt her specifically. She already killed the guy who roboticized her. Now she’s a defender of all oppressed women

Silly user, where do you think you are? Posting on Yea Forums is the most pointless way of wasting your time in existence, with even less meaning or depth than unnecessary cartoon tiddies. Does your reflection irk you as well?

And defending actually oppressed women is bad because..?

>Unnecessary homosexuality
I will be one to agree with you. It only works because it's on Netflix lol.
It just seems forced. The first scene with the girl who was actually in the beast the whole time it's like okay, I get it, she was abused, but why not just be asexual at that point? She had to be a lesbian with that other girl? Ooookay... Even though she kills her anyway...
And I loved the story with the girl shooting the guy and then she like catches her own murder and it's a cycle that never ends kinda thing. But that whole 45 seconds of SEX PUSSY DANCE in the middle of it just FUCKING RUINS THE WHOLE FEEL OF IT. It adds nothing to the story of being chased. Now you just know she's a slut dancer. It makes me feel like the only reason it's there is either because: it's in the book (I didn't even know any of these were based on previous work before I came to this thread) or because it's pandering to the high level of women and probably Tumblr tier "you homophobe" posters that I'm seeing here, internally screaming YAS QUEEN! FUCKING MEN UGH HOMOPHOBIC SWINE
And I have no issues with homosexuality. It's oversexualized lesbianism or softcore porn in "hehe, arrrrt" I have a problem with... It doesn't add anything but "ugh." This is just my opinion. Sexualized material is not tasteful to me. Homosexual sexualized material is like doubly taboo in that sense to me because I'm a straight female with a straight male boyfriend. It doesn't click with everyone nor should it

Oh please Zima blue is so pretentious and obvious. It’s like watching a jr high kid trying to be deep.

No your autism pills.

I liked Zima Blue

I watched it in a stream with someone who explained that it was obviously animated by hand because of how "purposeful" every movement is. Mocap ends up with a lot of extraneous movements, exaggerated pantomiming by the actor, and unnecessary body swaying.

>But that whole 45 seconds of SEX PUSSY DANCE in the middle of it just FUCKING RUINS THE WHOLE FEEL OF IT.

Some scenes feels more real than others, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing is a mix of CGI, tracing, and even some part being real shot with only partial paintover. I would love to see a making off of this.

>A: The Witness
Unmatched storytelling and visuals.

> B: Zima Blue, Three Robots, Alternate Histories, When The Yogurt Took Over
Zima would be best on story alone, but it's mostly told through narration. Everything things else made me laugh.

>C: Beyond The Aquila Rift, Sucker Of Souls, Helping Hand, Lucky 13, Fish Night
Good visuals in Aquila Rift, Fish Night, and Souls. Great tension in Helping Hand. But all were shallow experiences. Whatever Aquila Rift was trying to do, Magnetic Rose did it better. Don't personally care for dog fights in Lucky 13.

>D: Suits, Secret War, Ice Age, Blind Spot
Suits, Blind Spot, and Secret War were painfully generic. The concept behind Ice Age has been done better elsewhere many times.

>F: Shape Shifters, The Dump, Good Hunting, Sonnie's Edge
Shape Shifters and Good Hunting were transparent excuses for the animators to do their fetish, nothing more. Sonnie's Edge had terrible execution on top of cheesy story and tastelessness. The Dump was flat out boring.

>Shape Shifters
>fetish
I didn't see it. All I saw were werwolves having a big fight and nothing else, and I have a big transformation fetish. Then again, there wasn't any female werewolves, so maybe it's why it did nothing to me.

You're a fucking blind retard if you couldn't tell it was basically gay porn.

I don't know, do you consider wrestling to be secret gay porn, because there was less contact and more violence in those fights than in wrestling.

Perhaps fetish might be too strong a word, but it was clear to me the story was a very flimsy pretext for the finale. I don't have anything against people who do this, but it was done without any cleverness or artistry. Clearly it's not aimed at me.

Shape shifters was the worst episode, just some weird furry wet dream, as evidenced by John t. maincharacter reaching into his buddie's body bag and errily smelling his fingers afterward
>because wolves
Because not being able to see weird gay/furry vibes that everyone else sees

Furries always want to pretend the world will be realistically furry in some fictitious way

>but it was clear to me the story was a very flimsy pretext for the finale.
Guro ? Welp, werewolves are a rather good premise for guro.

>do you consider wrestling to be secret gay porn,

>projecting
You might consider coming out of the closet.

I agree.
I already see a lot of people misinterpreting the spider as evil. Which I think really worked in the short's favor since it serves as a demonstration of what most people would think in such a situation. "Weird looking hive world inhabited by creepy spider creatures? Yup, I must be in hell. Put me back in the simulation."

A good premise and a good story are not the same things. Good ingredients can turn into bad dogfood in the hands of an incompetent cook.

Shape Shifters was bad. There's no way around it.

Werewolves can never catch a break, can they. All I wanna see is this unstoppable murder machine hunting its prey throughout the night only to finally tear it limb from limb and devour what's left. Then mix it with themes of pleasure, dread, guilt and some body horror.

Instead we're getting gays, teenage girls and furries fantasizing about cute buff dudes with wolf heads and maybe some fur. Fucking hell.
It's not like there's a lot of good Werewolf stories out there in the first place.

Sparring is always super fucking gay.

Ginger Snaps is about teenage girl werewolves and one of the only good werewolf media made in the last 30 years other than Dog Soldiers.

She only cared after she got raped and also turned into a robot. Also the guy's dad straight up murders her mom in front of her.

Too many shorts were an excuse to animated long, underwhelming fight scenes. I can watch and avarage League of Legends promo for that, what's the point?

Best ones were Zima Blue and The Witness.

user it was literally a deconstruction of Transhumanism

It's pretty good, but I don't like him literally being haunted by the people he killed. Like, by their fucking ghosts, in person, telling him to eat shit.
Kind of unneccssary and on-the nose and ruins any possible temptation he might've felt to just give into the beast.

Anyway. There's two German novels Ritus and Sanctum that are pretty good. Somewhere between actual horror, a bit of Blade and maybe a tiny dash of Hellsing. But pretty sure those are only available in German.

What rural town or third world country are you from?
Russia can fit in there as well.

>Dracula but lol cats
This one was painfully generic and it's attempts to be wacky only annoyed me

The British were such fucking dicks in Asia, it's still a major factor in politics to this day.
China being communist and India being in a nuclear weapons stand-off with Pakistan are all direct results of British arrogance and incompetence during the colonial days.
China is still holding grudges from those days.

Except for the people in hong kong, who wish the British would come back

>Korean studio
Surprised they didn't make the Japs the rapist imperialists. Would certainly be more realistic, but they're probably too big a market to risk upsetting. Whatever. We Bonglanders are used to being the world's villains at this point.

Ah, that's why. Gotta love salty hyphen-Americans whining about the historical persecution of the homelands they abandoned but have no actual knowledge of.

Shit is pretty good. Reminds me a lot of animatrix.

Even funnier is how Jap fox spirits are the least evil/assholish out of the fox spirits in Asian myth

This. Zima Blue was amazing. 3 robots was cute, shapeshifter was cool, and secret wars was amazing.

I mean, them keeping Hong Kong in the first place was just another dick-move to China in general at the time, even if it worked out for the people living there for a while. But now those shitty colonial-era decissions come back to bite everyone in the ass yet again with the deal running out and offering up a huge city of democratic citizens back to a communist hell hole.

You are so angry.

Yea Forums here. While it's sad to see you wrap yourselves up in 3rd rate anime, I suppose it's better than the kiddie shit you're used to. I think we both know which side won this war though. Door's always open if you feel like embracing the real deal.

>implying that wasn't the plan all along
>Hong Kong is now like a cancer cell of pro-British democracy let loose in the body of Communist China
We're eternal for a reason, user.

What are the books where these shorts are from? I'm interested in reading them.

Because heterosexuality is always fully explored?

Just started watching, I'm fucking loving it so far.

China is too effective at cultural genocide for that to actually work out.

You have no argument, yet you must defend you brand like a good slave. fun fact : strong emotions are not bad, you were just raised to shut up and eat like a pig.

He's right though, most of those attempt subjects seen a thousand times in anime for children. adding a pair of titis or a flacid penis doesn't suddenly elevate the concept to maturity.

He's correct.

Too preachy

Karnivore was cool, but man, did I hate that rant at the beginning. "You Men" that phrase alone made me almost turn it off on the first episode.

And I've always wonder, if a set of biochips could keep her body alive, and they rebuilt her skull and head, why was she still in the monster? That answers a lot.

She's not very smart. I mean she thinks special and unique mean different things.

>Isis, a goddess of fertility had no purpose with a sex scene
>efreet bj scene had a purpose
No it didn't, it was a side story that had nothing to do with the main story. Nigga, you just gay.

Blindspot was great. So 90s radical.

Honestly that's how I felt about The Witness, though with the Jr. High kid trying to make the next Memento.

Listen if there's one thing I know about the military is that it's hella fucking gay.

The true curse of the werewolf.

Why are you so angry?

Where are you getting this? What do you see on your screen when you write this? Are you okay? Do you need to talk to someone? It's Okay user, we're all anons here.

I'd wish this segment was longer.

Both Aquilla Rift and Secret War had great visuals and trite stories with cheap twists. To get into the high tiers you need good graphics, a decent plot and good writing

My friend and I binged this a couple of nights ago.
We're both kind of confused how Lucky 13 is being rated so highly by everyone. The story is fine, but the acting sucked us both out of it on multiple occasions.

I guess they never miss, huh?

Attached: Goodgraphics.png (542x390, 251K)

what twist was there in secret war? seemed like a fairly straightforward story to me.

most of them are miss. They were given a simple theme and most couldn't even get a 2/3. For all impressive the Witness is, it doesn't belong in that serie.

Suits is probably my favorite, with an honorable mention to 3 robots.

Anyone can make an audience empathize with a sentient, anthropomorphized robot... managing to pull it off with the sci-fi equivalent of a pickup truck, a machine that doesn't even give us a hint of sentience but has moods and quirks all the same, that's impressive.

It's a simple story told well and one that anyone's who developed an emotional attachment to a machine can relate to. This gave me flashbacks to my first car.

I think you need to come to terms with your closeted furry fetish because nothing about that fight was sexy in the gay or furry sense without squinting and projecting. And it was a damn sight better than the slap and tickle fests most modern werewolf fights turn into.

>muh furries

It's about the historical criminalization and oppression of people with differing characteristics from the established norms, you dopes. Why does it make you mad to see people of other sex/color/sexuality represented in commercial media?

It's cyberpunk firstly, and themes of sexuality underground identities and different minorities are all par for the course. It's been like that since neuromancer.

Because it’s all lowbrow humor

You're telling me you don't think a cyberpunk world with underground monster fights arent the raddest thing ever, because the main character dabbles in the gay?

>secret wars was amazing.
brainlet here that felt secret wars was a slog to go through. the animation was great and all, but what was thematically intriguing about commies fighting an endless horde of monsters (nazis?). the ending made me think it was a dropped video game trailer recycled into the show. this was one of the more lacking ones like alternate histories and ice age IMO

I thought the EXACT same thing! Like some sort of co-op horde defense game mixed with a farming simulator.

The piramide robot was. But I liked the short.

The rape backstory and the "stronk female" vibe probably left a bad taste in his mouth.
The whole thing felt like a game trailer

Imagine how annoying that must be.

Helping Hand, Fish Night, The Dump, Blind Spot, Shape Shifters (somehow the gay metaphor flew totally over my head when I watched it but I still don't think this is the absolute furshit people are making it out to be)

The rest I thought were either boring or reject pile game concepts. Having been animation grad showcases, Sucker of Souls looks like some student's still unfinished project and I don't get why people have been rating it so high when the writing is on the same level as all the other vg rejects.

Harvest Moon: Blood and Steel

Great action, really interesting world

Zima Blue was great
3 robots was alright, but wore thin after a while
Shapeshifter was an interesting concept, but kind of boring
Secret Wars did basically nothing to develop the characters or make me empathize with their peril. I mean, fuck they drop that the kid is the leader's son a minute before the ending like it's some big emotional reveal, but you know basically nothing about them or their relationship by that point.

Helping Hand really surprised me. Good job of building tension.

anyone have the longer version? i thought the scream was comical and lol'd

Sonnie, Suits and Aquila totally did.

The Witness had very strong and fun visuals, interesting animation but it's purely just visual spectacle.

those are all part of the 'punk' part of cyberpunk though. It's fine to disagree with them applied but people have been getting way too butthurt about it

>genitals and swearwords in opening dialogue in every short
>also skull crushing for some reason

It's cartoons for teenage children. Most are poorly written.

bretty cool i don't understand the hate this episode gets. edgy pokeymon is a good concept. netflix couldn't have picked a better episode to start the season

Witness was a great concept that just dragged on too long. If it'd been like half, trimmed out most of the shit in the middle, and just had it been the setup, the chase, and the conclusion it would have been 10/10

What i gather from all of these teir lists is that they did a good job giving something for every taste, as they fluctuate quite a lot. The Witness for example is rated highly in a few of these, but it was one of my least favorites. Opposite that the yoghurt short is often rated poorly when but i really enjoyed it.

hopefully not or every show from now on will be g rated ugh

Literally because Sonnie is bi/gay even though she doesn't get the girl in the end and because they didn't follow a story written 20 years ago to a T. No shit going with the original story where Sonnie lied about being raped wouldn't be received well today.

I enjoyed the horror aspect of it. It wasn't the horde of monsters that was great, it was the lead up. Plus the whole slant of ww2 paranormal research that was prevalent for the time. Kinda like hellboy.

does sex scenes make people this uncomfortable? i don't get it

Yeah, usual incels.

I dunno' what people were expecting when the title literally has the word 'LOVE' in it. And the rage of Sonnie's Edge is hilarious considering they barely makeout and it was just a trick, they're literally just mad because it was two girls kissing.

teenagers aren't confused when they get turned on...also sex isn't edgy its apart of life and how to came to be on this chinese knitting message board.

If you don't want to watch something R rated then don't. Watch a kids cartoon or a pg movie or whatever.

>Tell me a STORY. If I wanted porn I'd go to Pornhub.

If you want a story then wouldn't you read a BOOK? Fuck off with your incel rationale, you're fucking watching a television show.

less yappin' and more pool cleaning

Sex is fine when it serves a purpose, sex for the sake of sex is just gratuitous.

>I dunno' what people were expecting

Pekingese zoetrope non-threatening magic girl waifus

That was kind of what did it for me. They were just soldiers, nameless but still had human interactions. The big guy having a soft spot for his fellows, the young man who was unsure of everything, the leader who takes his orders very seriously, the literal mongol who was helping them through the forest, plus the horror vibe of unknown enemies. I feel like they can expand a lot on the characters and the setting. It'd be nice to see a 30min short of it.

>I dunno' what people were expecting when the title literally has the word 'LOVE' in it.
>love = sex
that explains a lot.

They bash you over the head with grrl power and men are all controlling assholes save for the skinny effeminate one.

Calm down son, eat your Kellogg's and make sure you keep your hands on top of your blankets when you go to bed tonight.

i think it ultimately comes down to whether people are looking for '''art''' or just a fun time

>sudden rush of posts calling people with criticisms incels and other ad-hom attacks that in no way address anyone's points
Hello, Netflix shill. Enjoy your stay.

In a show titled 'Love Death and Robots' with an R rating I'm not expecting all of it to be Disney hand holding, no. And, again, people are just mad because two girls make out for less than a minute.

>that in no way address anyone's points

Well they're not really points. Just incels bitching.

sex it’s an integral part of love yes, sorry but sad asexuals will never understand that feeling

Sex in a relationship is about building intimacy with that person, it's not just sex for the sake of sex. Likewise sex in a story that doesn't serve a narrative function or develop characters or their relationships is just there for shock value.

Were you this mad about Dracula guy cutting the student in half when the guy was already basically dead?

>Ginger Snaps was a great movie that I'm glad came out when it did, because it would be politicized as fuck now considering its themes.

That's a really good point. It'd probably be near impossible to talk about even if it didn't get ruined by the producers.

Sometimes sex it’s just sex user, this argument that every single tiny microscopic little detail must have narrative meaning injected into it it’s retarded, and sometimes having sex for the sake of sex with someone hot it’s a form of self love, we all deserve a lil fun every once in while don’t be a stick in the mud

Not the guy you're replying to, but while that may be true in real life, in a narrative it should serve a purpose. If that purpose is to basically just be porn, fine, but that does kinda devalue the story a bit. As another user said, if someone wants porn they'd watch porn.

In Sonnie's case its purpose was to get her to lower her guard so they could kill her. She made it glaringly obvious she was attracted to the blonde girl when they first met.

>Name of the show is LOVE SEX ROBOTS
>people call it edge when it explores sex and shows lots of death

You guys are fucking retarded. Also robots being gay has been done thousands of times, I have no idea why /pol/ is so assblasted by this fact.

iirc i saw some ads for it on twitch tv

No, not erotic scenes in particular, unnecessary ones. You wouldn't have a scene of a character sitting silently reading a newspaper for five minutes if it served no purpose, you wouldn't show a character taking a shit if it served no purpose. It's not that sex is a bad thing to depict, but it should be of some weight or value to the story. A lot of media is guilty of inserting pointless sex and nudity, and the intent is clearly nothing to do with the narrative, it's just to titillate, like porn. But just because that's a trend doesn't mean it can't be called out as a cheap tactic to get audiences to watch.

Vary it up a bit m8, you're getting boring.

its definitely the best one and 2d to boot

I guess you are one of those try-hards who reads one or two pages of "Heavy Metal" and goes on and on telling people how the story is weak, the graphics are too raunchy and pointless

The robots wanted to fuck, and so they did. Why is that such big deal?

Attached: 200px-Neckbeards.png (200x195, 51K)

why is alternate histories being considered one of the worst? I thought that one was funny as hell.

Attached: lincoln.jpg (285x270, 51K)

it was great, it didn't overstay its welcome and it was a good change of pace

It's "But it was REALLY necessary?" the new "What he meant by that?"

Attached: frodo.jpg (600x599, 45K)

it's just genius party for millennials, nothing new here.

It ran pretty thin for me. Also it relied too much on overly silly and twee humor.

>lol what if there were gelatin weapons isn't that so silly

>genius party
>2007

I wish people who can't shut up about "millenials" knew the meaning of the word.

>t. millennial incel

My opinion on not only most of the shorts but the show in general seems to differ heavily from a lot of other anons. I think some more variety was definitely needed here I found a lot of the shorts very pompous and having very similar plot elements and art styles. I watched it all in one sitting and getting through was a total slog.

It was fine but I'd definitely put it near the bottom of the episodes if I cared enough to rank them

surprised they never used the barbs

ehh it really could have been done better, i think they wasted too much time on him dodging the previous causes of death when its supposed to be imagined scenarios you put in

i also thought the jelly weapon thing was stupid

Maybe they should have did more different alternate histories instead of 6 versions of the same what if which just got more random as they went on.

this, the first one was decent, but the short just let me wishing i could have seen seen lincoln and other events

SONNIE'S EDGE
Predictable and mindless as all hell
THREE ROBOTS
Likeable characters but reddit tier lol randumb humour
THE WITNESS
Cool style but the director's horniness is inescapable
SUITS
Feels more like a trailer for a video game more than anything else
SUCKER OF SOULS
This one was okay
WHEN THE YOGURT TOOK OVER
Ceremoniously unfunny narration and concept
BEYOND THE AQUILA RIFT
Barely any intrigue or mystery, boring
GOOD HUNTING
Interesting concept marred by excessive in your face torture porn and laughable robot ass and tits
THE DUMP
Boring
SHAPE-SHIFTERS
Ridiculous concept, bland characters, good action
HELPING HAND
Anti-climatic, dull
FISH NIGHT
Pretty good execution but also very monotonous
LUCKY 13
Extremely formulaic and corny
ZIMA BLUE
Best art style but cheesy narration ruins it
BLINDSPOT
Kinda fun but very one-note
ICE AGE
Terrible dialogue, pretty innocuous
ALTERNATE HISTORIES
Actually kinda funny desu
THE SECRET WAR
very cool and epic!!

Overall not very good. I watched the whole thing in one sitting and it was an absolute slog. The show definitely needs more variety in it's art and ESPECIALLY in it's writing. It honestly wasn't very surprising to find out that 15 of the 18 shorts were all written by the same guy. Think I actually liked the Alternate Histories one more than others because it felt more creatively distinct than any other short. Almost all the shorts had something to do with war, monsters, extreme in your face gore and violence, and also sexy women who are punished and edgy because they got raped or abused or something.

Attached: Love-Death-Robots-Netflix-1-1800x1074.jpg (1800x1074, 185K)

I don't see how ripping your own arm off is "anti-climatic"

nah

the whole 10 minute short builds up to relatively nothing and she gets back on the ship just fine

guess it was more boring then anti-climatic I'd say

>just fine
>lost an arm
>nearly died

She barely got back in and only after literally ripping her own arm off after letting it freeze in space.

Hunor is one of the hardest things to agree one, it’s very persoanl what you find funny. I did not like Alternate Histories at all, except for the Lincoln joke at the end I thought it was kinda boring and unfunny. But I have seen lots of other people who I consider to have generally the same taste as me rate it very highly.

>10 minutes of floating around
>rips of own arm
>gets back on ship
>messages crew relieved seemingly fine

barely anything happened
not to mention it's a copy of a concept from like several years ago

You might have the autisms if you're genuinely that much of a reductionist.

stunning rebuttal
I guess I don't really mean anti climatic but more insipid. It's a really bare bones concept and story that was stretched over the span of 10 minutes. When it ends I was just kind of left sitting there like "that was it? ok" just pretty shallow and empty

I'm glad you don't write reviews professionally. It's really pathetic to see someone who really can't understand a story being simple isn't a bad thing.

there's nothing wrong with a simple story
but a girl floating through space, ripping her arm off and getting back to her ship over the span of 10 minutes is not only very predictable but it's BORING

In a story, particularly in film, every moment matters. You have finite resources - finite production time, a finite budget, a finite cast and crew, and even when production is finished you have a finite amount of time to keep your audience's attention and tell your story. If a scene isn't contributing to the story, or developing characters, or building atmosphere it doesn't have any reason to be there and isn't worth the effort to write, film, edit, etc it into the finished product.

A good film capitalizes on its limited resources, every scene and element in a scene serves a purpose. A mediocre film has lots of fluff and padding.

Can you name me 5 other stories where this happened?

I don't see how me naming 5 other stories about people floating through space somehow is going to validate my opinion about the short being boring. When you have a relatively simple synopsis such as Helping Hand, stretching that over 10 minutes leads to something that's very dull. I don't know what else you want me to say, it wasn't horrible it was just pretty boring.

>shit's on every single film except Red Orchestra with monsters
Opinion disregarded

this

You’re retarded, the point he’s trying to make isn’t that literally the girl ripping her arm off is predictable, the point is that the story is so paper thin and you know she’s gonna make it back.

Also that short is basically a ripoff of that movie Gravity so you have no argument, also you’re gay

I was being sarcastic with that one
thought that "very cool and epic!!" would be a dead giveaway

Pay service, not television. Like HBO. But they do the same shit. Adult audience is shorthand for saying "fuck" and sex with no context only titillation., because the writers are for shit.

Show me something really adult. Like that'll leave me scarred and in existential crisis by the end of it. Like...A Serbian Film.

None of this pussyfooting, dipping the toe, holding to broadcast and decency standards, broad audience appeal bullshit.

Otherwise, it's just dirty cartoons.

Unfunny, unclever

Overall really uneven. A few real gems, many wasted ideas. Some stinkers.
It felt pretty pointless so many went for this degree of hyperrealism though. Use real actors instead?

Gladly. But rate it AO, not TVMA. Give me some accurate warning.

AO is for harder content than this.

Yeah, but I dunno, reminded me of edgy fucks who claim Akira, Neuromancer, or some other classics are not cyberpunk enough because "X isn't cp enough".
Not counting the fact that I disliked the guy with glasses and the protagonist terrible haircut (the white haired girl had a pretty cool outfit, even if you cover up her cleavage).

This entire thread:

I totally forgot Good Hunting. I feel like it deserves an A for the style & also being the only short other than Zima Blue to have a compelling and solid narrative structure.

i think i really need to ask what the fuck happened in fish night and what subtext there is that i'm blatantly missing

This has got to be bait.

Becoming one with nature is exhilarating until you get eaten by a megalodon.

Fpbp

Good Hunting had an interesting setup (kid developing a friendship with a spirit/demon, spirit's power's waning with the rise of technology) but I felt like it didn't really explore that side of the story because it wanted to get straight to the "girl is unwillingly turned into a robot and seeks revenge" thing.

It's the tale of Icarus, he flew too close to the sun

Nah.

the fact she looked like such a stereotypical/caricature of a dyke I was actually annoyed when it turned out she was a dyke

The first one lays it on pretty thick, but there's not much in the rest.

I mean you can see her whole pussy in the short.

Best foot forward, Netflix...

yeah like sure you can have a stereotypical looking lesbian and shit but they really went in with NUHUH SHES DAMAGED TOO DONT FORGET THAT and a scalie but really being a scalie is forgivable
the rest of the background shit is not
also why the fuck was she barefoot

Idk I found the monster fight pretty worth it

She wasn't "in" there so it didn't feel any pain, I guess it's just supposed to be a detail you can feel smug about noticing after the fact. Although, step on enough broken glass and the body won't be able to walk anymore and their ruse becomes more complicated.

It's part of the plot. If people believe the rape story, they get themselves killed trying to assassinate her human body like in the ending and never have any chance of finding out she's actually the monster.

Why do you think she's actually a rape victim or glorifying it when it's just a way to keep her monster form hidden?

>I felt like it didn't really explore that side of the story because it wanted to get straight to the "girl is unwillingly turned into a robot and seeks revenge" thing.

funny, i got the exact opposite impression of Good Hunting. i interpreted it to be a critique of capitalism and colonization. the foxes are indigenous peoples or different cultures, and the MC is the non-reactionary servant of the system, the viewer. the MC is the "cuck" white man so to speak who is willing to go outside of the conventional wisdom and comfort zone of what capitalism allows. the "revenge" tinge to the story is negligible and inconsequential IMO. most of the story is the MC treating this "other" as an equal person and not something to be repelled and killed.

Good Hunting is easily in my top 3

>nobody likes the dump
huh, does Yea Forums not empathize with the gentrification of the bottom feeders of society who serve as the foundation of the system that oppresses them? it's far from being one of the worst shorts like alternate histories and ice age.

Alternate Histories at least made me laugh with the jello canon. The Dump was blandly predictable. Also filthy hillbilly dick.

Alternative Histories got a chuckle out of me when the rats discovered nationalism

Ice Age had MEW though.

>The Secret War

Furry

i would easily rank alternate histories as the worst. what's the humor in death by gelatin or death by blowjob besides its absurdness? they chose the most controversial figure of history so they had a lot of material to work with. settling for "randumb" humor just tells me they phoned it in

>Not caring about brothers in arms.

I see where you stand user. You've chosen poorly

More like boyfriends in arms

>besides its absurdness
You're right, that's basically it. If it's not your thing, okay. But I agree it wasn't a very good episode over all

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I know yuri lowenthal gets a lot of hate but it's somewhat deserved and hearing his voice really took me out of it

I liked The Dump. So what if its "predictable" every one of these shorts was ultra predictable. The dump was a fun little short with a decent art style. Aquila Rift and Secret Wars were a little bland with their artstyle,( Secret wars verged on uncanny valley territory a bit) and had ultimately very trite stories.

Alternate histories was suppose to be absurdity for absurdity's sake. It's about the absurd deaths of hitler for goodness sakes, if you can't laugh at that then what do you get pleasure from?

Aquila Rift was the most uncanny valley for me. Secret Wars looked like a super expensive video game cutscene.

Also despite being the most stylized, The Witness ended up having the most moments where it looked live action to me.

I still would.

Attached: I'm gonna wreck it.png (321x322, 39K)

>Insanity
There's only yours here faggot

>Secret Wars looked like a super expensive video game cutscene.
Yeah I got that same vibe. Some of the scenes the leader of the squad looked kinda wooden. In general I thought secret wars didn't do as good of job on their human characters but they had much more going for them in the landscape and background animations than Aquila rift did.

Really suprised people aren't giving The Witness more credit for its art style and amazing animation. The characters moved so fluidly. The story was weak but all of the the stories were pretty weak, the visuals were really what had them going.

I'd say The Witness having a pretty much purely visual narrative was a strong point for it. It certainly never outstayed it's welcome for me.

nah alternate histories could have worked with the absurdness of white supremacy/fascism, but death by gelatin/car/meteor is something a grade school kid would come up with. the episode is the most lacking of all IMO

I don't think it needed to be elevated to have some sort of social commentary about facism but the scenarios ran really thin really fast.

>Furry
dude have you taken a high school english class? you don't usually interpret art on its superficial and literal qualities. there is no reason to hate on furries just like there is no reason to hate homosexuals.

>furry logic

The Witness fully utilizes animation in its storytelling. I feel like in short films, being able to use creative and original filmmaking to construct a story is more important than in usual filmmaking.

One of my favorite short films Neighbors, doesn't have a big involved story but is inventive in way of sharing it.
youtube.com/watch?v=P-o9dYwro_Q

>Really suprised people aren't giving The Witness more credit for its art style and amazing animation.
I think alot of people assumed it was live-action with some effect overlayed because they pulled off the animation so well which ironically made many underrate it, on reflection its probably my favorite short of this entire anthology.

i think a lot people don't realize its okay for short films to be light on plot. Short films are allowed to be much more experimental than full feature length movies

Too many duds, Animatrix is still king.

I think it's more, you know, what would be the point of animating topher grace jumping over a box when you can have topher grace jump over a box?

>People complaining about the sex and violence.
Okay have people never watched Heavy Metal or read the comics?

Attached: Heavy Metal Magazine.jpg (3000x2054, 2.68M)

lol why do you hate furries? most of us don't care about what other people jack off to unless it harms another person like CP, so who cares if furries have their fun?

Why are furries so sensitive for being called out for having a bias for 3/10 shit just because it panders to their fetish?

Attached: pennyarcade reaction image.png (693x1001, 547K)

the show doesn't have to be interpreted literally to the furry sexuality preference. it could be symbolic for interracial relations, homosexuality, or any other innate characteristic that's historically been repressed and criminalized by society. you know those "scenes women will never understand" threads you like to partake in? well, other people like things you don't and have their own discussions as well.

>my gay werewolf porn is actually artistic trust me

So what? Crossed is a thing that exists as well, but it doesn't exactly make a strong case for ultra-gore to be taken seriously.

These animation tools are getting more and more impressive. Finally we can get rid of the flesh and blood actors.

Attached: sample.jpg (1536x945, 101K)

Most people are not basement dwelling nerds so no.

Nice animation but it really shows that animation studios need better writers

There's lots of politics.

For example, like a couple of episodes are super 'respect da trooops', one of them could have easily been part of a USAF/USMC/US Army recruitment campaign.

The most egregious for me is probably suits though, which is all about frontier farmers protecting their farms from the natives on the planet they are colonising.

Yeah, it's literally one of those Slave revolt or Indian incursion stories.
