Funny you mention that. A lot of casting choices are Indian actresses. But casting a Hindu actress to play a Muslim character might not fly so well right now. Like a small controversy is brewing over the Aladdin live action being "Bollywood" and not "arabian." Americans can't really tell the difference but this will be touchy in other countries.

I hope they make a good choice ... but really, I think I'd prefer if they held off on her MCU inclusion for a little while, such that she could show up as a main secondary character in a future Spider-Verse animated feature. I think she'd fit into that style (both in terms of animation and tone) much more than the MCU, and it's just a bonus that her and Miles are super-pals in the comics.

Not all of her family was from India historically ... and without really knowing much about the history of the separation, I'm not even sure those ancestors would consider themselves ethnically "Indian" in the way we think about it today? Regardless, it probably wouldn't be any huge issue, but I could potentially see people bringing it up if they were to cast an Indian woman given the "current" tensions between the countries, the fact that Kamala's heritage is strongly tied to Karachi, blah, blah. A notably Pakistani-American hero being played by an Indian-American actress ... might be awkward?

It's one of the fan fics that was mentioned in . Basically the story is that Kamala gets home from Avenging, jumps online, and reads through some new fan fics - which are all illustrated by different artists in different styles. This one starts off as a generic Captain Marvel/Ms Marvel superhero romp, then ends up being a dumb anti-feminist style troll where the male Captain Marvel returns, and Ms Marvel starts acting like a mop. Pic related is the rest of the page.
The pages have a little insert showing Kamala's reaction (pic related, bottom panel), which is a fun little inclusion.
Test-tube Spidey gives me life. I also love how Viv was more creative and involved than Cyke.
Plus, the idea of costumed-heroes wearing a second layer of costume is funny to me.

I was thinking about this the other day, how Tom Holland feels like a newbie to the MCU ... but at the same time, including Far From Home and End-Game, he has already appeared in 5 MCU films, comparable to some of the longer-term cast. A Kamala MCU film is probably still at least a few years off, so I kinda wonder whether Holland will still be enthusiastic about his contract length by that time.

I think they could do it, but it'd take a LOT to get it right. I'd worry that they'd only have one or two set-piece shots of her doing anything particularly elastic, and then just relegate everything else to Ant-Man style growth/shrinking, and a (relatively) simple big-fist effect during fights.
Animation is definitely the way to go for a hero like her ... though I'd still like to see what the MCU can do with her.

Why would she be in the Captain Marvel sequel and not her own movie? Besides it's too soon since Feige has said they need to establish Captain Marvel first to inspire her. Currently hardly anybody on earth even knows about her and Kamala probably wasn't even born in the 90s anyway. This could change if Captain Marvel does something really impressive in front of the citizens of Earth during Endgame. However I think it's more likely we will see Captain Marvel 2 set in present day and then an Avengers movie with Carol leading the team before we get a Ms Marvel movie. Plus it doesn't really make sense to have a high school super hero whilst the Spider-Man films are already using that gimmick. Better to wait until Peter goes to University before doing Kamala. So whilst I'm sure we'll get her eventually my guess is it won't be in phase 4. It's still a long way off.

This introduces her to the universe for the fanservice and hype but gives it time for Monica and Carol, and gives time for Kamala to develop her own iconic villains in the comics in preparation for her films.

I only started with their comics a few months back, and this worked well for me:
For Ms Marvel, just start at her first comic and work your way forward. She's relatively new, you can blast through most of her solo run within a week.
Following on from that, I went into Champions, the teenage superhero team that Ms Marvel heads up. It started only a few years ago, so it's quicker to catch up on than Ms Marvel's solo run. From that, you'll get introduced to Miles and Nova (and a few others). As an extra, you could read through the few issues of All New, All Different Avengers that Ms Marvel is a part of (Nova and Miles are in that too), and it has the advantage of including some heroes who are relevant later on in Champions as well (eg. new Wasp).
From there, I went back to look for some Miles content. He's been around a bit longer than Kamala, and a lot of his stuff occurs in an alternate Universe. So for his stuff, I started following the plot where he was finally injected into Earth-616/the main Marvel continuity, which is also when he meets Kamala, etc.
I haven't gone back to Nova's solo stuff yet, I've had a few other comics I've wanted to catch up on first.
