As I said, I'm planning to end this little project soon-ish, hopefully this year, with Onslaught being the very last part. I'm going to change up the format of a few things to make posting faster and smoother.
So apparently Apocalypse was originally meant to be the guy behind Weapon X, but since they never got around to making that explicit, Jeph Loeb revealed that it was a Deviantart OC of his called Romulus instead.
I remember that. I loved the mystery of this series when it came out way back when in Marvel Comics Presents. I used to grab loads of that series for fifty cents an issue bargain bin hunting.

So basically he got pissed off at the comics industry and high-tailed it? A dude that talented must have continued working in illustration somewhere, prob in advertising, which pays better for less work.

I told Dave that Rob's anatomy was terrible and he only knew two textures, chrome and distressed naugahyde. Dave cut off the conversation, probably to go tell someone else in the comic book SIG. Just 2 days ago LinkedIn told me Dave's new job is running some tiny online training company. He hasn't been related to comic books for probably 15 years now.

Dark Horse ran it for 2 years but the two did not split amicably (the website features an open letter to the publisher demanding back pay and return of all physical/digital materials). He seems to have a good working relationship with the Howard estate and has dedicated decades to working on various Conan-related properties. He is essentially self-publishing at this point and if I had to hazard a guess, given his age (70) and lack of works past 2012 his vision and/or health may have gotten the best of him at this point.

It always seemed to me that he loved the version of Jean that Scott brought out (caring, empathetic), which is what Logan loved in Mariko. Logan knows that if Jean were with him, her wild side would come out and she would become a Yukio, which Logan loves, but is not in love with. He is forever caught in loving Jean but knowing that if she had her, she would go away.

I won't say it's a shame because the quality control just went to absolute shit, while prices were going up. Visually, onslaught looks pretty cool, but the writing... yeesh.
