ITT: Tropes you simply loathe

They really need to end that trope, it's just dumb
ITT: Tropes you simply loathe
>Girl becomes a giantess
>Suddenly has homicidal thoughts and the urge to eat or see humans suffer
They really need to end that trope, it's just dumb
Excuse me?
WE'VE GOOOOOOOOTTA GET SPONGEBOB BACK
>Man grows a second dick
>He has trouble deciding which one he should treat better
Its a real classic
>girl scout characters being tough as nails and ruthless
God i fucking hate this trope so much.
You can't tell me you haven't see that when a giantess is shown, they're always some sadistic chick that wants to swallow tons of humans until she looks pregnant
It's OP's fetish, so he's seen enough to get pissy when other people insert other fetishes.
>small adorable character no one is expected to take seriously is actually gruff as fuck, threatening and very strong
The goofy Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon of all things actually did this well; when Tails was transformed into a giant he caused trouble because his giant stomach was empty and he was desperately searching for enough food to fill it.
>characters wakes up with amnesia
>other character addresses them by name
>amnesiac asks who that is even though they're clearly the one being spoken to
>Girl becomes a giantess
>Doesn't immeadiatly shoves me into her vagina
>female character doing something
>dudebro comes along and asks her if she needs help
>she declines, because she is a strong, independent woman
>procedes to do nothing throughout the rest of the story
It's the simple "show don't tell" rule, but i've seen this specific scene so many times that i just groan mentally every time i see it starting
double standard stuff, primarily notice it on seth mcfarlane shows or live action stuff but its around
> bodyswap episode
> the characters still have the voices of their voice actor
it doesn't even make sense, its only cheap and lazy
but whenever a guy becomes a huge he does the same shit
what's your point
I've never understood that trope in general for any character. Unless you are the Hulk or something the amount of aggression you have would not change. It would be more awkward and unintentionally dangerous.
contain your autism
Gonna need some examples. Asking for a friend.
You can tell from the wording at the end that this was just a shitpost thread and not genuine. Why can't Yea Forums tell these things at all.
>character has absolutely no flaws at all
>character gets stabbed in the gut or other not immediate death vital area
>stares and gasps, falls over and dies immediately
The Nutshack had a bodyswap episode but the characters didn’t change voices
>when even the nutshack does it right
Great when it’s comic relief hero revealed to be big bad
>"I told you to drop it, hero! Victor von Shady is a respectable business man who's a good friend of the mayor's, and I can't have you harassing him and his EvilCorp! You're off the case!"
But it's negotiable if it's an 80s action movie and the hero is Arnie
user that's not a trope, you've just been browsing deviantart again
Fuck you OP, you aren't slick. Take your weird fetish to /aco/.
>your fetish which was limited to text stories and shitty collages in 2004 is slowly becoming mainstream
Don't know how to feel about this. At this rate my dick will be retroactivley normie by 2025.
Remember squidward.
Don't look back.
> nerdy girl
> takes off glasses
> instantly becomes a babe
>incredibly dangerous creature has a non-threatening name
>dumb parents
even worse
>All aduts are either assholes, evil, or fucking dumbasses
>the nerdy black friend
>characters that work as airline stewards are passive aggressive pricks
>garbage people are portrayed as losers
>bouncers are brutes that like to literally throw people out of buildings
>the nerdy black friend
>he doesn't beat everyone's ass in third strike
so unrealistic
>bodyswap episode
>episode actually shows and mentions the process also swapped their voices as well
Now what?
>Jon Stewart looks in Kyle Rayner's fridge.gif
>Villain is an irredeemable sack of shit.
>Finally gets his/her comeuppance the audience has been waiting on.
>Suddenly we're supposed to feel somewhat bad the villain is getting what he/she deserves due to a half-assed sob-story.
>character sneezes one time
>"I think you have a cold"
I don't think I've ever seen that one.
>Character hears the other say something out of context and they hate each other for the rest of the episode
>All snakes make rattlesnake noises
in all fairness if you woke up with amnesia, and someone adressed you as something you're not familiar with then at the very least youd be confused as fuck. its also probably the easiest way to show someone has it.
'scuse me when the fuck has this ever happened? never.
>OP has weird fetishes
>gets skewed perspective on media
>character with amnesia is able to remember after others try to jog their memory enough
>character experiences total loss of all memories
knowing a little about amnesia ruins most of the stories that involve it
Why?
kek
>female character in children's cartoon
>massive boobs
>complains that her titties aren't massive enough
>swallows other female characters from the show whole
>other characters begging in vain for their lives
>shows her belly go down as they digest
>she gains a lot of weight, but somehow only on her chest
>show NEVER stops making jokes about her bigger tits
yeah, man, I fucking HATE when that kind of thing happens, and it seems to happen at least once in every good new cartoon I can think of nowadays
i don't think you know how humans work, that or you're just shit at explaining
That bit from Yakuza 2 was great.
>my hot coworker Sarah
>makes a video of herself in high heels stepping on insects
>calls me her little bug
>steps on my face and says "crunch crunch"
Every single fucking cartoon these days, man.
>show where crazy shit happens every week, it's common at this point
>"HAHAHA, A GHOST? YOU'VE SEEN TOO MANY MOVIES LOL"
I love this shit. Get a yooge Rottweiler and name him Sparkles.
>furry animation to put on e621 where a girl becomes a giantess
>but instead of randomly having homicidal thoughts all of a sudden and destroying buildings she does it by accident
>has a mental breakdown because she accidentally killed her mother.
>people who want to masturbate are instead sad, it's the Moral Orel of fetish porn
I want this to exist so bad.
>bus drivers or any form of """blue collar job""" makes you stupid or lazy.
Nigga as an electrician im not THAT fucking stupid.
I fucking hate when shows do this. Venture Bros. commonly makes fun of that shitty trope.
That's my favorite trope though
>garbage people are portrayed as losers
i hate this trope so much. garbage people are a million times more respectable than the sluts and hookers that get glorified in shows today
>all species of animals can talk to and understand each other
>except for humans were they seem to be the only ones that can’t communicate with other species for no reason
Finding nemo and secret life of pets being a couple of examples I can think of the top of my head
>status quo in a show that isn't over-the-top wacky
magical/space culture is just earth's but magical/in space.
Literally me
SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP
>Girls vs. Boys episode
>Boys become sexist strawmen out of nowhere and constantly shit-talk the female characters
>They never acted like this before and never act like it again
>Power goes out so all the doors open
>Pressing buttons rapidly causes the whole panel to short circuit and explode
>Two people wrestling over a level guarantees it'll snap
>girl character is shown to be knowledgeable about guns when all she does is cock it
>guy characters are impressed by this
>Characters never use the mouse of a computer
>i grew up with 45632542546758677786675654521 brothers
Imagine how interesting would be Total Drama if it wasn't for kids
That's a lot of shows with talking animals.
Animals seem to have this universal language they can all understand, but humans can't speak to anything that's not human.
All Dogs Go to Heaven kinda played with that.
The dogs couldn't understand what the rats were saying (then again neither could Anne Marie), and the horses never actually spoke, either.
The alligator could speak to the dogs though, so it's inconsistent anyway.
>garbage people
When you say that, do you mean waste disposal, or actual human rubbish?
>show stars a girl
>doesn't want to jump my self insert's bone
Jake Goldman is the hero we deserved
>kids get hit in the head and becomes Irish
Hate that fucking cliche.
>The alligator could speak to the dogs though, so it's inconsistent anyway.
He's bilingual.
>characters operate and maintain massive mechanical or scientific equipment
>never shown any kind of logistics or supply chain or maintenance schedules or testing or manufacturing
>have no staff, contractors, suppliers of any kind
>have no funding or source of income
>Girl character has never held a gun before in her life
>Shit goes down
>Suddenly knows how to perfectly operate the first gun she gets her hands on
>OP thought bigbig comics were actual DC comics
Oh, yeah. That makes since.
I'm fucking dumb.
>Dumb
I think you mean hot.
>it's the foreign character episode
>foreign character does random insane shit because it's "tradition in his home country"
>also seems to have severe autism for some reason
Why's that?
>filmmaker character
>always references popular movies and/or parodies popular movies
It impedes character development. As a kid, I used to watch Hey, Arnold, and it was mostly great, but a character would get a new job or shit like that, and it would all be gone in the next episode. Even back then it was really weird.
>all meaningfull character moments are either forgoten or shat on and forgoten
>characters incessantly mock and humiliate a male character because they are his "friends"
Always hate this shit. Like yeah, my friends and I rib each other, but it's not a constant 24/7 thing, especially if something serious is going on in one of our lives, the rest lay off.
>Girl is a complete loser and a slave to the guy she likes
>He treats her like an autistic mutt and she follows him around like a dog
They can't keep getting away with this!
>Girl holds a gun for the first time in her entire life during the show
>Immediately knows how to use it
>Uses it to kill herself
And this, too!
We need some wheels!
HEY SQUIDWARD, WANNA TALK ABOUT TEXAS?
To be fair, Dexter's titanic loan with NASA was the central plot of one of the episodes.
>that mysterious Badass was a FEMALE all along!
>When you say that, do you mean waste disposal, or actual human rubbish?
Waste disposal workers
that and monkey most likely manages to get funding for him behind the scenes with his superhero work
>The "Mysterious Badass" always wore a helmet or other mask of some kind
>After the reveal, she never puts it on again
you can also pile it up:
>it was the token female of the group
>who was tired of being damsel in distress
>who goes back to her DiD role after the reveal
any other examples?
>Two characters have some kids
>Their kids are just younger versions of themselves with swapped hair-colors.
Its so lazy
>Character goes to the past/future
>Ancestor/Descendant is just them in clothes that fit the time period.
>mysterious character with concealed face, clearly has tiddies, wears high heels and speaks with a voice modulator
>"WHO IS THIS GUY? HE'S STRONG"
That's more of a fetish than a trope but yeah turning into a mass murdering cannibal is a pretty big turnoff.
>Dude/chick is hopelessly into someone that’s clearly evil but is oblivious
>friend points out they’re clearly bad news
>YOU JUST WANT HER/HIM FOR YOURSELF
>characters regularly cry, scream or both
Fuck you faggot Courage is great
>main character and villain are fighting their final battle in the villain's fortress
>battle interrupted by true mastermind, villian's female second-in-command
>she betrays her master and effortlessly defeats both the hero and the villain
>rapes and tortures them in her secret laboratory
>gets impregnated by both at the same time while also activating her soul-extraction machine, killing the hero and villain and absorbing their souls into her womb
>gives birth to twin girls who resembled the respective paternal donors but are genetically her true daughters
>as the twins grow up they start to recall strange memories of a past life and grow resentful of each other
Man I hate it when shows pull this old stunt!
but that's actually true tho, even vice versa
Yeah but this is fucking up basic social cues. If you can tell you're being addressed at all, and by name, and you don't know your name, don't you think you should be able to put two and two together pretty fuckin easily? Being an amnesiac doesn't make you retarded. Pic extremely related.
I don't mind this.
This gets annoying
This needs to fuckin stop.
Also you all need to play Final Fantasy Mobius, pictured here . It's about an amnesiac hero who doesn't want to be a hero fighting to stop chaos because a prophecy says he has to and complaining every step of the way. Every single character is pissed off at the world for shoehorning them into their roles and it's great. The main character (Wol) doesn't take any of that tropey bullshit.
It'd make sense to say something like "Do you mean me?" or "Is that my name?"
The "Who's Steve?" reply would make sense if they woke up thinking they were someone specific. I honestly think writers use it in an amnesia plot just because they're lazy and get those plot types mixed up.
Two for one right here
>Smart/Scientist character's explanation is just scientific terms put into an incoherent bullshit loaded sentence
>Protag: UM IN ENGLISH PLEASE
A lot of the time this would be OK if the guy being joked about would laugh it off & wisecrack in return, but writers seem to think it isn't funny if it seems goodnatured, so they have to play it like a legit putdown.
It would honestly be funnier seeing these people being wiseasses to each other like actual friends, but nope, they just act like assholes who have no good reason to be hanging out together.
And then other writers do the same thing just because they think it's standard.
>I don't mind this.
It wouldn't be so bad on its own, but it's too often played like the audience should be surprised as well. It's annoying when the show acts like "you thought only a man could do something badass, right? Gotcha!"
It acts like the audience is stuck in an 1800s mindset or something.
Yeah it's a bit tired at this point. Everyone wants their STRONG FEMALE CHARACTER to be Eowyn.
sauce?
>tribute to looney tunes or silent movies
>the jokes are either just lifted from the source material, or they're way more corny and shitty than the real thing because "that's how humor was back then, right?"
>Character discards or destroys a useful object or power that can help in the future for no reason.
>Enemies leave perfectly good tech or weapons just lying around, never use them.
I want to see a series where the protagonist just megamans his own arsenal out of stolen weapons and armor from defeated enemies.
>supporting character
>they aren't that important, so let's just make them 1-dimensional
>they show up all the time and do a wide variety of stuff
>still never get any definition beyond their gimmick
Happens a lot with villains' lackeys and important characters' siblings.
>cast of fun & interesting characters
>the show ships the most boring plain-vanilla people
>an assload of runtime is devoted to this drama
Samurai Jack briefly did this in Season 5 right?
>Redhead
>Calling the guy Peter
It's obviously Marvel
I've driven box trucks quite a bit, anyone who thinks driving large vehicles is easy, especially in the case of a school bus, where you have to keep a bunch of rowdy kids from causing problems too, is an absolute retard.
BUT HYEEEEEEWWWW?
This looks vaguely familiar. Where's this from? SPEAK
physically threatening little girls in general make me want to kill myself.
You come to Yea Forums and don't know Road Rovers?
>Character is apparently injured to the point of extreme internal bleeding
>Starts coughing and or vomiting up blood
>Injury is actually barely if at all a problem and they continue what they're doing without dying or being overly hassled by internal bleeding or ruptured organs.
Sounds better than most stories.
>dead irish character gets doused in whiskey
>comes back to life
bitch lasagna
>ocarina of time
We're talking Yea Forums tropes that we're sick of, not real life tropes that we're sick of.
>Sheik
>Badass
She never does a fucking thing the entire game except teach Link songs.
Yeah
I don’t even mind that much that he loses that equipment because it’s either straight up smashed to pieces in a fight or he drops it because he’s half dead from blood loss and falls in a river
Are you? Cause I was talking straight out my ass on that one.
These threads
>You have to beat the MMO to gain access to the internet
>There are cheat codes and you need an antivirus to respawn
This episode was beyond nonsense
I've noticed that a lot of the art types have no clue how things work IRL, and frequently overcomplicate systems, equipment, and procedures, while managing to get all of it completely wrong.
The Level 0 thing was stupid too.
>having one-way level based play on a MMO at all
Whoever wrote that episode did absolutely no research at all before writing the script.
>"if you do/use this, you will die1"
>character does or uses said thing
>doesnt die
Looking at you one piece.
>This technique will lower your lifespan
>Later on is just in the form as pretty much a default in fights
>Downside is never mentioned again
Luffy's fucking terrible about this, not even mentioning the part where he already halved his lifespan
Maybe he's just destined to live for a few hundred years or some shit.
hi mr enter
Worse of all, it was a glitch the developers just never fixed for no reason.
? She could talk to the rats, thats why Carface had her, to cheat the races. She spoke to the horses too, thats how they knew it was that one horse's birthday.
>Female fighter
>Uses a bow
Ironically the writers do this to show that she's not a strong-armed brute. However drawing a bow need some serious upper-body strength especially if she's doing it in rapid succession during a fight. Fighting with a sword would have been much easier.
>character goes through a change that actually makes him more interesting/funnier/entertaining etc.
>goes back to normal by the end of the episode
what? you dont like hearing people whine about the exact same shit 24/7 and then make another thread for the exact same shit as soon as the previous one dies
Funny enough Hammers and Maces were perfectly fine for women warriors in the bronze age, I'm telling you man people are obsessed with swords and forget how good axes and hammers were in the hands of the average fighter even societies were women fought along men.
>Heroes are young freedom fighters
>Villain is Evil Company Inc. who now rules the world/city
>Main villain is Evil Businessman
It just screams uninspired.
Any specific examples, out of curiosity?
You hit the nail on the head as to why these "jokes" fall flat. Why go through the effort of coming up with hilarious banter between the characters when you can just have them straight up verbally and physically abuse one person as a substitute for "comedy"?
Pretty much any of the big "unwieldy" weapons would be better than bows. While they are not exactly lightweight they are designed to be as light as possible while still effective. Plus since they are usually used by two-hands they are somewhat easier to lift.
>Twist villain
When it can happen due to changes in pressure.
Remember when Brock was casually destroying mummies, monsters, undead(including Major Tom) and in season 7 he pissed his pants over a haunted apartment?
>Strawman character
>Dialogue consists of things right out of an "I AM SILLY" webcomic
>Alternatively, if he's reasonable at the start of the episode he'll end up doing something crazy/horrible later on forcing us to side against him
>Strawman character
>creator makes them look and sound like a drooling imbecile just in case the Strawman argument fails
>Girl is a complete loser and a slave to the guy she likes
>He treats her like an autistic mutt and she follows him around like a dog
This honestly feel like more of an Yea Forums trope rather than a Yea Forums one
I see that shit all the time in anime but I'm having trouble thinking of any Western examples???
>The perfectly good shota and the sporty tan tomboy are enemies
>Tomboy falls inside a tentacle pit
>Tomboy starts transforming into a monster girl
>Shota gets raped by a tentacle tomboy
I hate when this happens, hits too close to home
I think most people remember her from Smash Bros rather than her game
>Biggerer and badderer villain shows up and unceremoniously kills or fucks up a major villain
I fucking hate that. Red Hulk killing Abomination in one page with a giant gun immediately comes to mind.
This is more rare for male villains, a dude crying and a woman crying are two totally different things. Besides that half the time the male villain is faking it and does a sly eye or stops crying for a second, looks, and starts pouting again. Or the sob story is real but it's what he likes and it doesn't actually make him sad.
This. Can anyone name any superhero whose parents are still alive?
>main cast run into a person who speaks a different language
>one member steps up
>"I'm a bit rusty" or "I can speak a little"
>is fucking fluent with that language
Superman's parents are usually alive.
>Your voice is contained to your body.
>You bodyswap with someone.
>You now use that person's voice when speaking and they use your old voice.
>For some reason this user thinks you should use your old voice in the body of the person you took over
Huh?
>new villain shows up to replace the old one
>while more competent they are nowhere near as likable
Got some puss juice in the fridge, Kyle?
>gentle giantess
Shit taste.
Speaking of bows
>Mc meets with rogue leader
>Suddenly is surrounded by a bunch of archers aiming at him
>Leader starts monolouging
>Archers' arms gets tired and accidentally release their arrows killing the mc
Every. Fucking. Time.
What's so hard to understand?
A lot of stories feature moments half-assing the characterization of the female character as being strong and thus simply tell the audience she's strong, whereas SHOWING them through her actions would be much more effective.
Loved that in It's Always Sunny when everything Dee said unintentionally sounded like gruesome death threats.
>Superman's parents are usually alive.
not his real ones
>partners get into a fight after getting kicked off the case
>they split up
>cuts to each of them walking around moping with some blues playing in the background
God every single fucking cop movie has these tropes
I'm just fucking around like the other guys with their fetish stuff. I should've made it more exaggerated, though. I also didn't know Yea Forums had anime like that.
>character answers phone
>other character addresses them by an unfamiliar name
>phone answerer asks "who's that?" even though they're clearly the one being spoken to
>evil personality/imitator who's only there to creatr unnecessary drama
Actually that sounds like me, walked with my family then felt an immense pain in my head didn’t know who I was or how I got there. Stood there for 3 mins until they called me decided to follow em.
Ok so you probably need to go to the hospital immediately.
Which Greek myth is this?
