I've seen Disney go from using a good overseas studio for season 1 to much cheaper ones later before (Star Vs). I don't see them hiring Mir for this though.
Thing is, Disney tends to hold a new showrunner's hand reasonably tightly so the idea that an entire season was written/boarded, approved by corporate, directed/animated/voiced and only THEN the network said it was unacceptable seems really implausible. And if it did, they'd burn it off like they did Billy Dilley and move on to the next show.
Now when a show hasn't been able to actually start production due to internal mismanagement, at that point Disney is within its rights to either can it or reassign the project to a completely different team. The film division actually had to do this with Empire of the Sun which is why Emperor's New Groove exists.

He's a good writer but it's actually kind of strange how shitty of an artist he is to get into CA and immediately become a wunderkind with a shitty little short right after graduating. If it was a screenwriting program I could get it but for animation it seems really strange.

CalArts criteria judges you more on storytelling abilities than technical artistic abilities.

IE: If someone were to send in a sketchbook of storyboard thumbnails that told a great story but were kind of scribbly, it would probably be more received than a sketchbook of great looking watercolor landscapes. The latter, the school would recommend that person apply for illustration, not animation.

Using multiple studios to animate a show is normal. Steven Universe uses two. Using 3 would just be a standard business decision. There's literally no reason to think that suggests any problem with anything
