The Flood explains everything. LKJ had a job to do, but he had to be persuaded to do it.

I guess Ryan's a bit of a lazy faggot and decided to not bother with making 3D models for all his characters. Having the 3D models interacting with the drawings would probably look a bit weird. Better to just keep consistency and switch the characters over to the sketches when characters without models need to interact with those that do.

I know this is bait, but Ryan Dorin, the creator of this show, has a PhD in Music Theory. The soundtrack is therefore always superb, and the show itself takes on an opera-like quality as a result.
