The level design has nothing to do with how stupid the AI is. The level design is good, but the game is still easy as fuck because every fireball is slow as hell. Since you move so quickly, you can just weave around every imp and cacodemon shot like it's nothing.
The regenerating health in Halo is fine because the AI are based around it. They'll throw grenades to get you out of cover, run up and melee you, flank you, stay out of your range and put pressure on you, etc.It's not like COD where you're shooting at grey specks and poking your head from out of cover every few seconds.

1. There are eight weapons in Doom, nine counting the SS from II. The Pistol and Shotgun basically have better versions with the Chaingun and SS, so you might as well have seven. Seven weapons is a sad number for even back then.
2. Halo has a weapon limit because if you were walking around with a rocket launcher, shotgun, sniper rifle, fuel rod, energy sword, and gravity hammer, the game would be unbalanced as fuck.
3. The first fucking half of every Doom chapter always has short as fuck levels, and even the levels after don't last for very long. Every Halo level is about the same length as a long Doom level, although you probably wouldn't know.

Halo doesn't play like either of those games. And no, regenerating health doesn't mean every shooter that uses it plays the exact same way.
And there are plenty of people who love those games. I know you probably do nothing but post on Yea Forums, but there are plenty of people who do. I like Halo, I like some CoD games, and I like Doom. Doom Eternal looks great.

It's not the balance that's the problem with Doom, it's the gameplay being dated. And you're pretty much saying the super shotgun is overpowered there, whether you admit it or not.

It's easy for me to list flaws about Halo. CE has an overpowered pistol, the weapon variety is the lowest in the series, there's some annoying backtracking, etc. But when someone just constantly goes "old good new bad!" with no justification, it's obvious that you haven't actually played Halo, and you're just parroting from when Yea Forums told you it was bad.
