i forgot this was a thing

Okay... what about it?

Only on episode 4 so far. Pretty decent, 3's animation reminds me a lot of Spider-Verse's.

would it have worked without the rape origin?
also mega when? i want to take screenshots of the gimps

oh i thought the animation for sucker of souls looked familiar
they did the kairos trailer as well
youtube.com/watch?v=dRZxNotWAWM

really hope they do more cartoons
love their animation
also just started the yogurt ep
that mother fucking maurice lamarche doing the narration. fuck yeah

So this is what became of Tim Miller and David Fincher's Goon Project?

files.catbox.moe/9ybryb.webm
love it so far

just finished good hunting
that was a rape story done right

this is pretty good

>showing the eternal anglo for what they truly are
based Netflix

best segment?
worst segment?

I'm surprised it's a series of separate shorts rather than one big compilation movie like I assumed.

meant for

So is it actually decent or overproduced trash?

I think Suits has the best story, but Good Hunting and Zima Blue have really great animation.

Three Robots is fucking shite, though. But I really wish they cut down on the realistic CGI overall.

it's worth it just for the animation

Simon in Sucker of Souls is cute

zima blue was great
is that the same studio who did those dc natoin wonder woman shorts?

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 30K)

Good Hunting is easily the best segment

Suits seemed pretty generic imo.
It felt like a Clash of Clans advert.

Wait, is Kairos getting a show? Or is this just to advertise the comic?

ad for the comic

Kek, yeah. It was basically a mobile game intro now that I think about it. But I feel like it had more more stakes and such than The Secret War.

Attached: robofu.png (1366x768, 937K)

i need screenshots of the sexy alien spider at the end of beyond aquila rift

what the fuck was that anyway?

teleknetic space spider that was probably just lonely
i want to fuck it

is this the first series to feature animated cock and balls in every episode?

The yogurt episode also had warm peaness

Just finished werewolf soldiers in Iraq and the series is hit and miss but it's more hit than miss so far. If the back half stays this good I'm all for it.
>would it have worked without the rape origin?
Nah, the whole rape story is part of the long con. When you realize that as a construct they could have fixed her scars but left them anyway it means the whole thing is a planned misdirection, they want other fighters to think she's fighting angry instead of desperate.
Good hunt is also about environmentalism. In destroying nature and robbing the hu-jin of her magic they've also created the instrument of their own destruction (built by, you guessed it, another human being.)
Telepathic space spider was a top tier waifu and that guy was a bitch for freaking out.

So what's the dealio with the BIG FURRY ASS that was so artfully displayed in the trailer all that time back?

First episode 3 minutes in and the characters already go full feminist. Classic Netflix

to be fair the next episode is three robots which has nothing at all to do with the first one and is mostly dark humor jokes and goofy stuff. Which I love, and convinced me to keep watching.

It was a Japanese spirit that was trapped half-way transformed into a fox, via piss.

I agree it was good. Love the animations and art style on episode 3 too.

Chinese actually. Now the kumiho (Korean kitsune) is the one you should watch out for

first episode is complete garbage
forced feminism
shitty forced acting
lame twist
too edgy

>too edgy

Did famous people work on any of the shorts?

mega?

Yuri Lowenthal voiced on the fish one

I meant more along the line of animators.

The Witness was done by art director of Spider-Verse

Spider-verse man does a good titties and vagina. Looking forward to Spider-verse 2.

Sucker of Souls has lots of pussy

where's the fucking pussy?

There were two of 'em, weren't you watching?

>that yogurt one
The fuck? It was absurd but also pretty good.

i would pay money to see maurice lamarche read the phonebook

Attached: 1 tXjP8-C0qhngxmR4F9pBVQ.jpg (1012x675, 93K)

Typical Netflix feminism garbage. Hard pass.

good
you dont deserve to enjoy it

Ignore Anyway which of these shorts you wanna see become a full series?

Shape-Shifters
I like the idea of a Military-set "Being Human"

Sucker of Souls, Blindspot, and Alternate Histories.

Most of them only work as 15-20 minute stints desu, with Good Hunter and Zima Blue best suited for a movie/45 min episode to flesh 'em out more instead.

...

>I really wish they cut down on the realistic CGI overall.
y tho?

It definitely needed more variety in animation for an animation anthology. Only halfway through but almost everything has been cgi usually realistic art style. Usually I check anthologies like these out to see things like graffiti animation and other less common things.

don't get me wrong, Beyond The Aquila Rift looked amazing (better than most modern games that use the technique), but it really over-saturated this season. I wish they gave some of the spots to more 2D animators or at least ones who could do exaggerated CGI like The Dump.

but we basically never see realistic animation otherwise? most adult animation looks like family guy, rick and morty, american dad, futurama... etc.

So because of that you want less variety in this show? Weird, but alright.

yes, take it somewhere else. i don't mind stylized animation if it's legit new and exciting but i would rather have realism because there's so little of it.

Guys I think I'm in love

Attached: The Witness.png (1920x1080, 3.11M)

How inciteful.

>both characters are forced to eternally kill and chase each other until they realise they're in love
That's my headcanon and I'm sticking to it.

Up until she said she said the whole "angry little raped girl" thing was some stupid bullshit that people just assumed, I was pretty unimpressed by everything but the kind of cool monster designs. The last few minutes pulled it together really well.

Anyone got screencaps of Lincoln shoots first?

I like that it is a decent swerve to the revenge narrative, that she calls out her friends on not understanding her experience is nice.

>people will call the first episode feminist and miss the entire point of the story

So far Im loving the anthology, the only one i didnt care for much is the witness- but thats just because im personally not a big fan of time loop stories the animation was lovely

i really liked suits- it would make a fun tv show

>I'mma clear the field for you
;_;

Witness was may favorite art style and direction, but the loop is just kind of meh.
The high fantasy stuff was really good and you could tell whoever worked on them put a lot of effort into it,
>1, 4, 7, 8, 14, 15
The ones that where basically just normally campfire stories with maybe one fantastical twist where really boring.
>9-13,16
The rest where okay but way overshadowed by the well done ones.

>Someone actually made a story about an asian man building a robot body for his furry wife to hunt evil white men in a steampunk alternate history

I have no fucking clue what to make of that.

Attached: Causes Consideration.png (1000x1000, 66K)

They're called the English and still reigning cunt champions of modern history

Three robots was kino

Literally just proto Peni Parker.

I’m watching this now it’s pretty fucking surreal the animations was great but what the fuck was happening was it a loop or what?

Its a loop but of two different "Days"
Day"1"- he kills her the chase she kills him
Day"2"- She kills him(end of day 1) chase he kills her (start of day 1)

Was this originally going to be a new Heavy Metal movie?

I just checked RT and Metacritic; the show barely has any reviews. Do critics care about anything animated on Netflix that isn’t Bojack or Big Mouth?

It's new. Have patience

I want full movie made from this (Secret War) episode, its awesome! And you can save a lot of money on set and actors, because this CGI is uber realistic.

Attached: love-death-robots-the-secret-war.jpg (1240x638, 100K)

The 1st episode is pretty weak, the 2nd and 3rd save the series.

Dunno why I did this, but here.

You know, I'll take Psychic Space Spider's word for it, but why is she letting the crew slowly starve to death. Unless that's severe muscular atrophy at work?

Attached: Hello, Thom.jpg (1920x1080, 226K)

Okay I want "Suits" and "Blindspot" to be full series. For the former, Gundam IBO's second season ending left stank-ass taste in my and everyone else's mouths and Anno is taking too damn long to release Rebuild 4.0. For the latter I wanna know what was inside that chip that cyborg gang busted themselves up for.

Might have died from malfunctions from the cyro pods or the crash. I also took spider waifu at her word. If they were trying to thematically make it about body shaming than it made no sense. Spider woman can't help the fact she is a spider, it's not like that package of oreo's for dessert every night gave her eight legs.

Anyone got any downloads for those unable to get Netflix?

That ending gave me hardcore feels, user.

Attached: 1549130174057.png (723x675, 291K)

Another I forgot to add: Suits had war vets piloting mechs as a opposed to snot-nosed brats

I'm ripping it off right now, but with spanish dubs/subs can you work with that?

Thats what I assumed, that guy could have been like the 10th in the line of misdeaths

Sure

are they soft subs?
i already watched it on netflix but just want to take screenshots/make webms

only reason im gonna watch it

Attached: huehuehuehue.jpg (1248x697, 46K)

>Good hunt is also about environmentalism
i think it's mainly about accepting moderization
it seems to be a huge theme in chinese media

Just popped in, hoping the 2 in OP's thumbnail fugged. Don't know shit about this show. What ep is spider?

ep 7
beyond aquila rift

Basically this The short is more like the bad consecuences of capitalism and progress and how you should adapt to it.

Let's play spot the furry.

Absolute kino
>The Secret War

>Zima Blue
>Beyond The Aquila Rift
Great Tier
>Good Hunting

Sonnie's Edge really reminded me of Dishonored visually.

Luckily, every episode is completely unrelated.

This is really fucking good. Or at least it is so far. Hope they didn't front load all the good episodes.

Last episode is the best one

Some real uncanny valley shit in this.

I definitely had that first minute confusion if it was CG or not. Same thing happened with Beowulf.

Suits was literally "Mobile game advert: the short"

Same dude, Alberto Mielgo

>be pure kino
>completely ignored by normies

shame

They used some really fucking great source material for this. I really want to see more of Alistair Reynolds' work animated now. Imagine Chasm City in that style.

Same old same old.

The ending was nice. All the planes come in and boom.

>when you don't recognize xenofeminism
Buckle in user, it's the future

And then they throw real live action at you for good measure.

>The brave comrades accept their destiny protecting mother Russia
>The young one is sent to call for reinforces
>"I want to die with you all"
That hit me right in the feels.

Heck like people above said it plays kind of like a VG intro, I know I'd play the shit outta that game. one-half stardew valley mixed with half Starship troopers.

That's not uncanny valley. Uncanny valley is feeling uncomfortable with CGI human/humanoid creatures.

Why? The CGI was pretty good.

Is it western animation savior?

>it plays kind of like a VG intro
that's not really a complement.
Nobody looks at a Fortnite cinematic and goes "Damn, that would make a great short film"

Yes. I was thinking, damn it's been a while since I enjoyed a new American animated show

Im enjoying so far. The creative sci-fi lore sometimes remind me of when rick and morty is cool. would recommend

Children are the future and feminist have the lowest fertility rate across the board. The future, just like the past, will be a patriarchal theocracy. Only difference is it will be brown muslims instead of white christians.

I know all your gibberish sound right and might when you repeat it in your head and with your friends. But even if I don't believe in god, religions got one thing right and that is the future belong to who has children.

Attached: 1536431933421.jpg (790x988, 234K)

>look up the definition of xenofeminism
>it's just feminism
You people just love to come up with new words to sound smart, don't you?

There you go.

mega.nz/#F!Oz4ykIKI!PTUk5l7OWrfpciW0tP0_9Q

If you haven't enjoyed an american animated show maybe the problem is you, not the industry as a whole.

They've taken the 'adult' part of adult animation a little too to heart, you don't needs tits and dicks in every episode, but it's really great.

sweet thanks

Oh little sweet thing, you won't see it comming.

Attached: 1551409097013.jpg (278x278, 103K)

Watching the first episode, the guy with the cane looks almost identical to a Dishonored 2 character and it's throwing me off.

I've just finished the first short. I will do the rest, but be paitent, my computer would burn If I do It too fast.

>sonic fan

Attached: 1495549251474.jpg (598x448, 111K)

YES! I was watching with my steo-father and it was the first thing i noticed. Actually, a lot of the aesthetics of this show as directly based on several other games, movies and etc. Not bad imo just interesting

Not sonic fan, desu, I only like the rf of this faggot.

>Also
I insist, you won't see it comming.

Attached: 151065769442.png (400x400, 12K)

has anyone manage to get HD rips yet

So far better than anything else I've watched on Netflix in a long time

I was wondering if they had animators in common, all the characters were very of that style.

Some of these shorts would be awesome as actual series.

I not gonna ask.

How many LGBTQIA+ content have?

JESUS FUCK, BEYOND THE AQUILA RIFT

I WAS NOT READY FOR THAT

Attached: 1426741206865.jpg (420x500, 46K)

I'm like 6 episodes in and there was a really hot lesbo scene but that's about it

Yeah, except for the mecha space farmers one, that would be an excelent video game.

What were you expecting? A sexy xenomorph with big tits?

It's always chicken shits like you who get in those situations and then overreact. It's never the types who'd be fascinated by an alien lifeform with powers like that. Plus the thing was being genuine in its care towards those that end up there.

Yeah but I hope this means more tame series get made in the future.

user it was a fucking space spider god that kidnaps people and fucking eats them. It’s ok to be afraid of that.

Big tits would help.

it doesn't eat people and it's just lonely

The other 2 crew members would disagree with you.

First episode's been posted The rest are coming soon.

The chick was still alive and the black look liked he died long before the space spider found them. If it wanted to eat them the whole mind comfort thing it keeps trying would be pointless.

>Helping Hand

Attached: Brutal.png (400x400, 182K)

Fascination and fear go hand in hand.

The Dump adult swim show when

The art style reminded me of that crazy action strategy game by the Psychonauts guy, iron Brigade.

It's about time, really.

Attached: eternal anglo.jpg (640x360, 49K)

>it seems to be a huge theme in chinese media
the gov needs to harp on about how their citizens should just roll over to their massive increase in spying somehow

Lucky 13 was the worst offender for me. It looked very convincing, but was just off enough to be creepy. Good episode though.

I'm about halfway through. It has its ups and downs, but on the whole it's pretty decent. The weakest one so far is probably Three Robots.

Anyone else reminded of that old, early CG Starship Troopers show by a few of these?

Did you really find it creepy? I only find creepy those weird CGI frozen porn, but well...

>Also
Was Lucky 13 really CGI? I'm really impressed. I really thought they were actual actors.

It was definitely mocap. The lead actress, Samira Wiley, was in Orange is the New Black, she likes just like her regular self.

Only the first short. You can tell straight men did this series.

Which character is the best waifu out of all the episodes

The Witness lady.

space spider or steam fox

Space Spiderfu did nothing wrong.

Beyond Aquila Rift really captured the grotty, dirty feeling I get when I read Reynolds books.

>The fox women in Good Hunting.

Attached: 1408937042770.png (372x343, 238K)

What do you think the budget was like on these? Some of them seemed really high quality.

Probably varies. They were all independent projects given a theme and funds to work with by Netflix right?

DO NOT FIST ROBOT GIRLS

Spider wife. She probably should have given them some food though, mother fuckers were dying.

She

Attached: goodhunting.jpg (583x598, 24K)

I took it to be long term muscular atrophy or that she didn't possess compatible sustenance for the crew.

Heh

>Helping Hand

Attached: 1448820381095.png (599x577, 768K)

The snarky pyramid robot.

I can tell, The Witness looks so good.

Was that Siri? She's the only one uncredited in that one, so I guess it was just a voice synthesiser. I don't actually know what Siri sounds like though.

I was reminded of spiderverse the entire time i was watching it, was the one with the dracula monster by the people who made Last Man??

it looks unplausible and uncanny as shit as it has always been and always will

no suprise near all the realistic looking ones were boring and basic as hell

Suits was everything I didn't know I wanted.

SUITS reminded me of how much I love western mecha design

>it's not like that package of oreo's for dessert every night gave her eight legs
Not the first time, but you keep going and it's like Fry drinking cups of coffee - the 100th package of oreos is where shit goes bananas.

I can't put my finger on what Sucker of Souls reminds me of.

Castlevania?

What do you mean?

We want Suits to fill the void left by MEGAS XLR and Symbionic Titan. Maybe some take that to Gundam and Evangelion

Lucky 13.

Attached: Salute.jpg (603x380, 20K)

The artstyle and animation specifically. I looked up the studio and hadn't seen anything they did before. I must have seen a very similar artstyle somewhere else and the animation was reminding me of Masaaki Yuasa a little bit.

Maybe like, Franco-Belgian comics meets Devilman Crybaby?

instagram.com/p/Bu1p2SCCXkc/

Anyway I really liked it.

>Zima Blue

Attached: I have awakened.jpg (1630x1080, 396K)

see youtube.com/watch?v=dRZxNotWAWM

Who else was expecting it to pan out and she'd be missing both her legs?

>Zima Blue
I remember reading this short story close to 15 years ago. I'm genuinely surprised they adapted Zima Blue of all things. And they didn't really change anything. I have yet to watch the Beyond the Aquila Rift short, but I wonder if this means that other stuff by Alastair Reynolds will get adaptations.

Attached: Zima Blue.jpg (258x386, 22K)

Attached: 1536401114086.png (2558x1436, 3.56M)

Beyond The Aquila Rift might as well just be live action.

I want a game based in this concept so goddamn much.

Is it really live action? I can't tell what's CGI and what isn't at this point.

No it's still clearly fully CG, I'm just saying it might as well just have used live actors because it's not really stylized at all. It'd look good for a video game but for an animated short I would have liked to see the medium get utilized better.

A lot of them went for an extreme realism approach, was kind of disappointed.

I really hope so.

I think it makes the things that would have to be computer animated less jarring when everything else is too.

Eh, I don't really agree, decent CG looks fine paired with live action if done properly. If anything full CGI trying to look like it's not is more jarring. Just look at that fight scene at the end of Black Panther.

>rednecks in mechs shooting Starship Troopers bugs
Man, they just made a video game far more interesting than Anthem that we'll never get to play.

Attached: FMA_rain_6856.jpg (350x197, 43K)

also the main dude was really sexy

Really liked suits and Aquila rift so far. Really enjoying how there’s such a variety of good looking animation. haven’t seen one so far that I didn’t enjoy.

I'm about 3/4 through and I wouldn't say any are bad yet.

I really love anthologies though.

Very enjoyable, usually anthologies have a few weak stories but I feel like each does the best with what they’re given story wise

Yeah my only real criticism is like other people said there's too many shorts that go for a photorealistic look but even then they're still good shorts.

Im half-way through and im amazed at how good this is.

How did this just get dropped out of the blue. Was there any following for this as it was being made?

>All of these CGI shorts

Same. Apparently, "Sonnie's Edge" is one of a collection of short stories the author wrote all set in that universe, so it might be worth a read. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Second_Chance_at_Eden

The kaiju one had amazing animation but a generic edgy plot.

The three robots one was a delight.

The one with the azns also looked amazing and it was a decent lil time loop story.

Nine Tail Fox Alita and Zima Blue were really good

mega?

I feel that Shape Shifter should have been a live action movie already.

Hes a niche youtube movie reviewer who uses /pol/ humor. He got pewdiepie in deep shit a little while back because pewds recommended his death note review and everyone said he was supporting a literal nazi.

God damn I love this.

Now watch the final episode for Russian kino.

watching first episode. the bitches dont have enough sexual parts like bigger boobs, arces and camel toes. the story is kinda bad because of to many stereotypes. the grafic and animations are tip top quality. i wish they did the same good with star wars clone wars.

This was rather... 'generic'

Only good episode was Fish Night. Everything else was just generic action, wacky humor or trying to be eye candy through visuals.

I laughed out loud when they did this. Why did he decide that the first thing he would remove and upgrade would be her ass?

Your trying way too hard user take it down a notch.

it was a full body mod but yeah that episode had really weird "fanservice"

It came from David Fincher wanting to work with Blur Studios again after they did work on Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. They originally tried to get the Goon movie off the ground but that never happened, so they made this

as much as i like the victorian setting, steampunk is so fucking stupid
i think the only work where steampunk is somewhat sensible and well done is Steamboy

So how much of what the spider said was true?

It was a mixed bag. maybe 2-3 good eps. alt history one was repetitive but I can see it being a 5m skit show.

tv tropes calls it Fan Disservice

really? guy goes into astral and gets eaten by an astral shark, it had visuals but not much else

yeah I found that Hitler moment a strange chose because it was out of character for him. Why pick hitler if you are not going to use hitler? also noticed lots of military eps and lack of robots

I got more dead space/song of saya feel

was cocks and tits a requirement for every short?

should rename the series to love death or robots so people dont get confused

should have called it monstrous affections or something like that. snappy and short.

some did not have any, like the ep were they have a civilization in a fridge. They were the most boring ones.

All of it. The point of the ending is that it looked to the guy like he was caught by a space spider in a space web but in reality it's an alien from another galaxy. He couldn't process past his own human view point and has a mental break.
Now you could argue that if it looks like a spider and your caught in a web looking like an Auschwitz jew it's obviously eating you but I've watched the thing three times and all the evidence points to the spider being a bro.
>we never see the black guy awake because he's dead before they reach the station
>we see the female in the simulation and the station
>the female looks as emaciated in her pod as the captain
>the spider was gradually revealing the truth when the captain jumps the gun
>the spider could put the captain to sleep anytime as evidenced by her waking and sleeping the female so their was no reason for her to wake the captain at all unless her endgame really was acclimating him to his situation
It's a story about prejudice, not deceit.

Do I have issues if it bothered me yogurt ep that "I will just go to the Chinese" worked? I mean it could not move on its own. What if they boiled it, it would talk.

I assumed the yogurt was a sort of hivemind, sense multiple sources seemed to have the same ideas. So one of the other bowls would go after they boiled that one.

So what did the female see because she clearly saw something else besides what the main guy was seeing.
Did she see the spider for what it was?

>Did she see the spider for what it was?
yes. though i don't get how the simulation worked for both the girl and the dude at the same time

it was the only bowl. it mutated in the doctors fridge. bowls can't walk. It should have offed some technology, gotten big enough so it would have goons of its own that can carry it (as it does near the end) and only then try threats. its a fucking bowl of yogurt, it can't do anything so speech should be its biggest skill

Alastair Reynolds, really good space opera by a guy with a PhD in physics. Zima Blue and Beyond Aquila Rift are based on two of his short stories.

That was tryhard garbage. People learning from videogames worst AAAA cinematics instead of any proper work of art is really reshaping the mind of the industry for the worst

The point was that politicians are easily manipulated morons. Any one with sense would have called its bluff.

>waifu award goes to MEW

This didn't feel steampunk as much as something blending chinese mythology and automata. I'd like more of it.

I did. Was relieved that wasn't the case.

way too cute

Attached: mew2.png (416x380, 328K)

The first one gave that impression, I think it was a bad choice to start with. The rest didn't seem tryhard though.

>Zuma Blue with that Tron Uprising/Gorillaz/Motorcity character design
Good shit.
Honestly, if there's one thing that's disappointing it's that the designs and types of animation weren't all that varied. And while I do think it's a nice showcase for how far CGI has come, I still think it's kind of underwhelming to find 50% of this show to be realistic CGI.

Beyond the Aquila Rift is the best one. Prove me wrong. Protip: you can't

Attached: Love.Death.and.Robots.S01E07.Beyond.the.Aquila.Rift.720p.NF.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.x264-NTG.mkv_snapshot_13.4 (1280x720, 990K)

hope that studio does more in that style. they do it well

That's not Kino Blue.

You only say it because you want to fuck a xenomorph, user, don't lie.

I've seen things get bashed for "forced animation" before, but this is definitely an actual example. So much unnecessary movement for the sake of movement.

Made a quick read of the thread, but no one made that one yet ?

Attached: aquila rift.jpg (760x596, 110K)

I think it's muscle atrophy, and the other just died in their cryo. Maybe of madness.

Gang who beat up a woman to death tend to also raped her. that's rather standard.

Anyone else saw the honey pot trap come from miles away.

>Anyone else saw the honey pot trap come from miles away.
I was actually waiting for the double twist, "He didn't care, I wanted you to lose because I find Khanivore disgusting."

>unnecessary movement

This term will always sound like the stupidest fucking thing ever said no matter who says it. How do you write 'they're moving for the sake of movement' and not want to punch your own hands out of fear of being outed as an idiot?

heh

Attached: 1383457106529.gif (250x250, 993K)

It's no different than someone shooting he is a real man when an asshole tell him he is just a boy. don't take it as a personal attack.

Maybe she just eats wayyyy too much sugar.

you're a complete retard if you don't get the concept of overdoing things or somehow thinking it doesn't apply to animation

I didn't mind the concept of Witness, but it's not a story that needed to be twelve minutes long. You could have gotten the entire thing across in a third of the time and it would have felt like a much tighter paced story.

I got warning signals from that story initially, but honestly, the ending made it all work in my book.
The very unprovoked lesbian makeout session ended in quick betrayal, not in "FUCK MEN! WOMEN ARE SO MUCH BETTER", the bad guy didn't try to rape her but was just a crook who wanted to kill her for not diving and the rape backstory was just there to justify why she put her brain in the monster, which made for a fun reveal.

You're all overreacting because this fucking website made you oversensitive to this shit. That story was fine.

The le-strong-and-independent-women character has been there for years, It's not Netflix fault you just have noticed it, user.

>"I just want to talk a little"
>keep getting close to her threateningly while still having nothing to actually
Do'nt know why, but this is is one of the few trope that really piss me off. she there in front of you, not running, if you want to talk, talk, but don't try to subdue her and keep distances, this is not how you gain trust.

I mean, I could get over it if he was just trying to bullshit her to get close enough to take her down (even then using the "parley" tactic to do so still piss me off), but in this case, he actually had things of matter to tell her instead of just dying like a bitch.

I thought I was the only one who noticed it.

Attached: 1549127867905.jpg (680x740, 89K)

Oh yeah, because clearly a simple over the shoulder or still two person shot of them standing and talking to each other would clearly convey the character is excitable or energetic while she blandly recites exposition instead of adding flourishes of movement to empathize each point. This is animations, you fucking idiot, animated. The only time anything could possibly be called 'unnecessary' is if something in the scene, setting or character means it wouldn't fit for someone to actually move in that particular way. But saying a cheery and jittery character 'moves for the sake of moving' is like saying you're breathing too much to everyone who isn't your reflection.

It doesn't apply to this animation. Unless there's some reason she shouldn't be moving that much, more is better.

>this was basically the first episode

>What were you expecting? A sexy xenomorph with big tits?
I like ho they played with the shadows to give the impression it was going to be this.
Surprise Motherfucker, you get Space Spiders instead.

Really? I actually loved that scene. I watched the short while taking dinner with my father and It was fun.

>hat kidnaps people
I don't think it kidnap people, it just get to be where the ships end up when the transwarping malfunction. I think the spider is more like a little kd who saw a bird falling out of its nest and want to take care of it and make it better and it ends up dying in his hand because he don't know the good way to do it.

It's by the same guy that did a lot of the early animatics and storyboards for Spider-verse. It sort of makes sense.

A bit of Last Man too.

Could be that the girl was not really alive, just inside the guy's head as part of his subconscious? Like the part of his brain that couldnt buy how random the encounter with someone he hasnt seen in three or four years?
Because I thought the girl died in the accident and looks like that in "reality"

Strange, it's the opposite for me. iu consider it's one of the few where realistic CGI actually is the best suited, as it allow a better integration of Spider Waifu. The realistic CGI make her true form much more palatable, but had it been real actor with CGI spider, the Spider would have felt off, not really part of the same world as the man. As they are both CGI, you don't question at all they are part of the same world, they look as real as each other.

It's one of the few occasion where I consider realistic CGI to be the best artistic choice.

Ripanon here, the first four episodes are up. You can look at them in the mega folder that I've poster yesterday. I'm working on the next three right now, so be paitent.

>why is she letting the crew slowly starve to death
If they're that far from human space the odds of these aliens having anything compatible with them in terms of nutrition is minimal. Water, sure, water is gonna be everywhere that life exists... but food? That's a lot trickier to manage.

thanks user.

user, that was the joke.

It's my first time ripping off a serie. I'm using the screen recorder of the Camtasia and the rendering it in the best qualitiy available. If you show me a best option, then I could try.

Suits should be an MMO.

SUCKER of Souls should be a show.

>here's one thing that's disappointing it's that the designs and types
I just hate the "I just want to talk" then do not do talking trope.

the animations were fun and some of the stories were interesting but i wouldnt care to see any of them as a full movie or series

That's what anthologies are for, user. Little stories that aren't enough to work as a whole book or a whole movie, but are still interesting and entertaining.

Fuck actors. Semireal cgi will replace them, hard.

So Is it truly the animatrix of our times?

So like is she physically fucking them while they're asleep dreaming of fucking the hot blond?
If so I have some issues.

Why was Colby from Lucky 13 such a better example/case of a strong female lead than Connie?

Her and the Helping Hand protagonist were just especially competent at their job and happened to be women.

>Connie
>Female lead

Are we talking about the same connie?

The main focus of the first episode?

Animated Anthology series from David Fincher and Tim Miller of Deadpool

They didn't complain about some men doing wrong to them, so you didn't feel personally attacked.

Attached: costanza.png (500x375, 299K)

Nah, I'm just a sucker for weird space stuff

I didn't feel personally attacked by dumb alien. The "ugh fuckin men" just comes off as childish similar to male characters who talk like they're a stereotypical 1960s chauvinist saying women should stay in the kitchen.

She's also an idiot. Doesn't even know unique and special mean the same fucking thing.

A strong female character is a strong, reasonably competent character that just so happens to be a women. Don't project this personal attack bullshit you dickhead.

I mean, it's the only difference.

For lucky 13, she is fighting against unidentifiable nooks and helping her brother in arms and was complemented by other men.

In Helping Hand, she has to fight against her environment (or lack of it) and the only other character is a good friend who care about her.

In sonnie's edge, her direct opponent is a man, the antagonist in also a man, both hate her quite strongly (mind you, it's justified, for the story), so people who tend to identify with any men with a somewhat important role will get upset by it.

Subverted the usual tired trope that is prevalent in the genre subsection the story takes place in-Women in the Military- and instead of having her overcome men trying to keep her down because womengrrrlll like usually happens, she had to overcome something much more relatable, being the new one in the office who gets the shitty equipment and having to make it work. It starts off like most strong men stories do, with something that can be understood to get a foothold in and then develops it's character through that. It's not a fantastic story or anything, most of the exposition didn't need to be there and some of it was very hamfisted as well-like the first in line usually dying-but they kept the focus of the story on the bond between two underdogs who can't talk to each other so she feels more rounded because she has to develop herself against something that isn't biting back.

This isn't revolutionary or even odd anymore, it's kind of like the stock standard jock pushing the nerdy kid around in high school. We've seen that exact scenario in so many movies it just feels like the character is weaker because they're up against something so very stock and for the most part unrelateable or just plain past it for the adult audience. If you see it today, it's just as much a sign of a weak male character who needs a stock 'threat' to overcome that's been done to death. Colby isn't a strong character, not much you can do with in the time frame and scenario, but she's a lot stronger because its something more people can relate to.

>A strong female character is a strong, reasonably competent character that just so happens to be a women.
Which is exactly what Sonnie is.An essential part of the story is that her body was damaged beyond repair and her brain be transferred. that it happened because of a gang attack make sense and that she was raped because of it is an expected consequence.

The guy monster fighter didn't really hate her just that he hates he lost. He'd react the same to fighting/losing against another guy too.

>The "ugh fuckin men" just comes off as childish
Which wasn't in Sonnie's edge. Hence my point, Sonnie is an ass good strong female protagonist as the other two.

It literally is

>He'd react the same to fighting/losing against another guy too.
I don't think he would make as much sexual taunts.

How so ? She still has a male friend and the other fighters and the rich guy are bad not because they are men, but because they are asshole.

I have feeling that's his only go to taunt with the whole "going down down down" gimmick he has to his team

It has nothing to do with identification or self inserting, that shits for teenagers. It's about how blatantly obvious the character dynamics and interactions are in a shit attempt to depict a "strong female character".

>For lucky 13, she is fighting against unidentifiable nooks and helping her brother in arms and was complemented by other men.

But, more importantly, she's doing it while in means that put her at a direct disadvantage to everyone else, but not because of being a woman. Ask yourself what's most audiences would be able to identify with, some caricature of a cartoon businessman who acts super evil because he's evil against a woman, or because they're the new arrival so they get the shittest equipment and have to manage it. What then feels more triumphant, putting that cartoon irredeemable badguy in his place, or winning against the odds with that shitty equipment you come to love? The danger in 13 wasn't the faceless mooks, it was how unreliable the ship was at the start and how dangerous the whole situation was.

>In Helping Hand, she has to fight against her environment (or lack of it) and the only other character is a good friend who care about her.

Also a good point, because now you're placing yourself in the literal eyes of a character that had a random bad thing happen to them and it looks like they're fucked. It's not fair, it's not even anyone's fault, but it happened and now she has to think a way out of it.

Meanwhile there's not really anything big about Sonnie's Edge, is there? As far as we know at the start she's not in danger of dying if she loses(The twist reveals otherwise but by then the danger has passed), there's not really any stakes aside from 'getting revenge on those MEN' for an event we didn't see, and there's nothing to make the guy seem evil but money. So we're in a situation where what looks like a pilots ship might be wrecked but nothing else, against a cartoon "Evi MAN" but nothing else, and then the twist reveals that this guy is just shitty and that's it.

Funny part is reveal that she's in there during the fight and take out the cartoon villain and the story as a whole is way stronger.

You know just because a girl is lesbian and has ugly hair it doesn't mean it's feminism.
I'm about 6 episodes in and it was pretty good. There's an episode where a bunch of redneck farmers fight off zergs

Attached: gimps.jpg (1500x1125, 457K)

>Which wasn't in Sonnie's edge.

It absolutely was, and even more so because they just had to insert the most childish of foils for her to say it to. If I had a dime for every stock white guy who talked in a nasally voice who hates the protagonist in childrens cartoons, I would literally be able to buy netflix. If we include movies I'm buying Canada and renaming it Hattisburg. It's a childish line spouted at a childish archtype that's the go to badguy for dumb media.

>Hence my point, Sonnie is an ass good strong female protagonist as the other two.

Ha! Fruedian slip.

>t's about how blatantly obvious the character dynamics and interactions are in a shit attempt to depict a "strong female character".
My point is she is written just as good. the only thing you could say is that she has a dark gritty origin, but that's an "edgy writing" issue, not a "strong female" issue.

And I have noticed people tend to be more quickly upset if the edgy protagonist with a tortured past is female rather than male.

That's the other thing, the bad guy is so thin they really make him overstay his welcome. The big fat guy in Good Hunting worked way better because he was clearly just a sociopathic piece of shit that didn't need to be shouted at.

Good Hunting is a very similar story done about 100x better.

>but not because of being a woman.
Same can be said about Sonnie.
>Ask yourself what's most audiences would be able to identify with, some caricature of a cartoon businessman who acts super evil because he's evil against a woman
I am not saying most people do. those who complain about "WOMYN STRONK" tend to be in the minority. But the more repetitive complain I hear from those who do is usually about how they make men the bad guys, despite those story usually having also positive male protagonists.

>Meanwhile there's not really anything big about Sonnie's Edge, is there?
seeShe is a dark hero with a tortured past, it doesn't vibe with everyone. But her "strong woman" aspect is not badly written.

>My point is she is written just as good.

She's not. She's written worse because her 'threat' isn't established until the danger is passed, there seems to be no real disadvantage to the fight to raise the stakes of loss-remember, she was on a winning streak and a long one as well, she was starting with an advantage-her backstory factors into the twist but not into the fight itself until revealed later, the character she's up against has no real vested interest in this besides a very unconvincing 'pride' motif that makes him completely one dimensional, and the ending then takes all that away and reveals that the whole backstory was just a setup for a twist that only was revealed because a cartoonishly simple badguy acted like a badguy for a little bit.

She's a worse written character in a worse story.

>And I have noticed people tend to be more quickly upset if the edgy protagonist with a tortured past is female rather than male.

Sure you have. Sure. I'm sure it happens all the time and this isn't just a means for you to shield from the other problems people bring up.

Sure.

>It absolutely was, and even more so because they just had to insert the most childish of foils for her to say it to.
Except, no. there isn't any "fuck men they are disgusting" in that story at all.

The "edgy writing" is part of the strong female issue because the plot works to go out of its way in order to set up the established following:
>Connie is a strongrrrrrl with a tragic past, but don't, SHE is A WOMAN and she is STRONK.
>Antagonist(s) are cartoon tier and they HATE strong women, because women belong IN THE KITCHEN
No matter how "good" your fucking characters might be, if your edgy hack writing can't hold up the entire thing falls apart. And that last part is bullshit.

Attached: foryou.png (500x497, 142K)

You could change the genders of any of the characters in Sonnie's Edge in any way and I'd still rate it as the worst episode in the anthology. If you just completely swapped the genders of everyone it'd still be a juvenile power fantasy.

Oh dear I thought you were talking about Connie from SU. And yes, the women of lucky 13 is a good female character.

>Except, no. there isn't any "fuck men they are disgusting" in that story at all.

No, not that like, but "Because of fucking MEN like you!" was, wasn't it?

>She's written worse because her 'threat' isn't established until the danger is passed
That's not an issue. the whole point is t o provide an information to give a different perspective on what was told. That isn't bad writing.

>, there seems to be no real disadvantage to the fight to raise the stakes of loss-remember, she was on a winning streak and a long one as well, she was starting with an advantage-her backstory factors into the twist but not into the fight itself until revealed later
Okay, I will blow you mind, but not every stories have to start with the lead being at disadvantage. He can be competent at the start and only met issue along the way.

It's actually interesting the point you bring, becaue at first, when she get stabbed, you feel like she is under a real threat, only for us to realise after that she actually wasn't, only to realise that, o shit she was in danger at every fight and the only time we feared for her life, she was actually fine. It's actually a nice change of perspective, I like it.

>The "edgy writing" is part of the strong female issue
No it isn't. Being edgy and being female are not connected.
>if your edgy hack writing can't hold up
Except inthis case, it does hold up.

>>Antagonist(s) are cartoon tier and they HATE strong women, because women belong IN THE KITCHEN
Nothing different than someone asshole telling a protagonist he isn't worth shit. those kind of scenario tend to be hated more when the character is female. and there is no reason to unless you feel the asshole i meant to be you, which isn't usually the case.

>Same can be said about Sonnie.

Right, but that's not an archtype of the story she's in, is it? Most cyberpunk or robot-pilot-fightclub stuff doesn't usually include the whole 'because your a woman', does it? Military stories with a woman protagonist does, a lot, and painfully a lot. Hence the difference, as that explained?

>But the more repetitive complain I hear from those who do is usually about how they make men the bad guys, despite those story usually having also positive male protagonists.

Yeah that doesn't work as a deflection when the entire focus of the first speech from her friend was all about how she hates men for what they did to her. The character didn't say it herself, but hamhanded exposition is hamhanded exposition.

>She is a dark hero with a tortured past, it doesn't vibe with everyone.

Right, nice, but what I'm saying is there's nothing big as far as stakes are concerned. At the start for all we know if she loses she loses a little bit of 'pride', whoop dee do? There's nothing to indicate, during the battle, that she's in any danger. She's not. She might not get to show off to the cartoon badguy, but so what? Where's the danger that something might happen to the protagonist? At the end? Well, as it turns out, no! At the end, she's fine because even when it looked like she was in danger, she's not.

Dark hero! Who's not in any real trouble and if she wins it really won't effect anything but her person feelings that didn't get developed until after the fight or in very bad dialog from someone else before it. Yay?

>But her "strong woman" aspect is not badly written.

I seriously don't understand how you don't see that someone on a winning streak with no real character development overcoming yet another fight isn't strong. She's badly written all around, in what happened to her, what she has to overcome, and what she's doing in the story.

>ue at first, when she get stabbed, you feel like she is under a real threat, only for us to realise after that she actually wasn't, only to realise that, o shit she was in danger at every figh
dumb twist after dumber fucking twist isn't good writing.

>"Because of fucking MEN like you!"
Yes, the rich guy was an asshole. That doesn't mean all men or even most men. Do you undersntand what words means, user.

In an extreme majority of cyberpunk I've seen or read gender roles tend to range from blurry to completely inconsequential. Especially when you have stuff like neural links and full body android conversions.

>>No matter how "good" your fucking characters might be, if your edgy hack writing can't hold up the entire thing falls apart. And that last part is bullshit.
>but it does hold up
No.

You're an honest to god fucking moron if you can associate any rando antagonist calling the main character a retard or a dipshit with what was a blatant attempt to make villain guy look like a misogynist and further try to force the fact that connie is STRONGGRRRRRRL AND NO MAN GONNA TELL HER OTHERWISE NUH UH

>That's not an issue.

Oh okay, so we just lost the vast majority of the runtime to... not an issue? Not making a great case there.

>the whole point is t o provide an information to give a different perspective on what was told.

What perspective? A fight with no stakes turns out to have had stakes, but we don't know till she's won and it doesn't matter anymore. What's the perspective?

>That isn't bad writing.

If you say so. Usually it's the other way around where it looks like they were in danger, but then it turns out they weren't, but hey, subversion!

>Okay, I will blow you mind, but not every stories have to start with the lead being at disadvantage.

Sure, but then you have to give us something to root for instead, no? Her badly delivered backstory before the fight adds nothing to it to make victory better, or more important.

> only for us to realise after that she actually wasn't, only to realise that, o shit she was in danger at every fight and the only time we feared for her life, she was actually fine. It's actually a nice change of perspective, I like it.

You do you I guess, but seems to be the bigger issue is 'She wasn't in danger that whole time. Oh wow! Now she is, how is she going to overcome this-OH! It turns out she wasn't in danger. She was before but now she's fine after winning and now she's double fine winning again.'

She learns nothing, is never visibly threatened for more than ten seconds, and her backstory is pretty bog standard and uninteresting. She's a bad character.

Asshole insulting the protagonist is one of the most common trope. there is zero reason to be uspet about it.

>n when the entire focus of the first speech from her friend was all about how she hates men
Except that's not the case, she doens't hate men, only those who think they can use her as they want. she even has a male friend. only a moron would take it as "she hate all men".

>Right, nice, but what I'm saying is there's nothing big as far as stakes are concerned
>dumb twist after dumber fucking twist isn't good writing.
It's not a twit, but a change of perspective and like I say, it isn't required for the protagonist to be at disadvantage at the start. she struggle during the battle. it's established for her to win. Even if you don't know her life is at risk, there is still stakes. Either you accept that or you say there is not a single good sport story protagonist.

And telling you never feel she is at risk is wrong as she literally get stabbed. teh change of perspective goes from "oh shit she is going to die" when she get Wolverined in the face to "Oh shit, she risk her life every time". which is a niece change of perspective.

I think she looks great in The Witness. It doesn't fit Peni at all, but for the slummy surreal punk aesthetic of The Witness it's awesome.

>3rd episode
>Suddenly an army of latex bitches
This is my jam

Also this animation was so peculiar, some sequences looked like they were made with the CG equivalent of very detailed rotoscoping. Could live action footage actually be involved or is it just an impression?

>You're an honest to god fucking moron if you can associate any rando antagonist calling the main character a retard or a dipshit with what was a blatant attempt to make villain guy look like a misogynist
user, sorry, to be the one to reveal that to you, but it's the exact same thing.

In term of making a character an antogonist, there is basically zero difference between "I hate you because you are poor" and "I hate you because you are a woman".

Pretty sure there's no live action in The Witness, just very clever shading and lighting and a 10/10 cohesive artstyle.

The problem is that the stakes aren't nearly as high as they'd expect us to believe in the beginning, just to pull some stupid hack bullshit twist "I'm fighting for my life".

At least in sports the stakes are consistently established and grow at a pace where its manageable and still hyped at the same time.

Attached: imdisappointedinyou.png (744x301, 221K)

Oh, really? That's interesting also because The Witness' animation makes Spiderverse look like amateur hour, honestly

Oh without a doubt, and pretty much everything else he did for spiderverse is almost perfect but jesus, this stuff is JUST tier

She should learn to shave. I was distrcted by this much hair.

>Oh okay, so we just lost the vast majority of the runtime to... not an issue?
We didn't lose the runtime, up until the stabbing, it is a sport story, which has its own stakes and merits.

>What perspective?
That she is actually risking her life everytime.

>Usually it's the other way around where it looks like they were in danger, but then it turns out they weren't, but hey, subversion!
The point is not subversion, but provide a new perspective on her fights.

>Sure, but then you have to give us something to root for instead, no? Her badly delivered backstory before the fight adds nothing to it to make victory better, or more important.
It does, it establish she is not to sell and that she only care about true victory.

>She learns nothing, is never visibly threatened for more than ten seconds, and her backstory is pretty bog standard and uninteresting. She's a bad character.
again, nothing wrong with starting with a character that is good. and the story is about who she really is and how she became that way. Which is interesting and her backstory is actually a necessary component of who she is, not a gratuitous addition.

Yeah I'm glad he got to do something original and adult with designs like that.

>Asshole insulting the protagonist is one of the most common trope. there is zero reason to be uspet about it.

Upset? Of course. Annoyed they they did this boring, unoriginal plot yet again because they couldn't think of anything else to oppose their character? Obviously. Just tell me people don't get annoyed at the stockjock picking on the protagonist in any high school movie, I dare you. Go on, pretend it's because women and not because it's been done so far to death it's like seeing the Xenomorph on screen. Cool the first time, even done pretty good after that, but we got the picture.

>Except that's not the case, she doens't hate men, only those who think they can use her as they want.

Honestly we don't know how she feels about men or anyone till after the fight, her friend screams and makes sure to emphasize men and only men during her rant, so even that's not well explained. Like, this guy she's fighting is one of the men who hurt her, right? Or wrong? They don't seem to recognized each other.

>she even has a male friend. only a moron would take it as "she hate all men".

Only a moron would miss how the friend emphasized one particular gender while talking to the stock 'EVIL businessMAN' character that's so tired and worn it belongs in a museum. See what I did there? Using that phrase because it came out 40 years ago and still keeps happening? 40 years.

>It's not a twit,
Had to be intentional.

>but a change of perspective
From 'nothing' to 'maybe something WAS there but not when it's important for us to know/'?

>t's established for her to win.
That she will get...?

>Even if you don't know her life is at risk, there is still stakes.

Which are?

>Either you accept that or you say there is not a single good sport story protagonist.

Okay but those guys are like going for... money? Fame? To be the best? What's she going for here?

>she literally get stabbed.

Which was great for less than one minute when she starts talking.

Nah man asian pubes are like a whole different game. They're all soft and shit.

>The problem is that the stakes aren't nearly as high as they'd expect us to believe in the beginning
They clearly establish it's important for her to win and you know the rich asshole is going to retaliate.

> just to pull some stupid hack bullshit twist "I'm fighting for my life".
It's not BS. it make sense and the story properly establish its setting for this resolution to flow naturally.

>At least in sports the stakes are consistently established and grow at a pace where its manageable and still hyped at the same time.
Which is the case, here.

Looks too much like Western animation. Some Disney stuff as usual.

Sorry user, it's time to accept it's the same thing and stop rolling your eyes when an antagonist is established as being a mysoginist. it is an as legit reason to be an asshole as any other.

>Either you accept that or you say there is not a single good sport story protagonist.

Hey, you ever notice that in most sports stories, we're following the Underdog who's up against someone waayyyyy better?

Rocky, Remeber the Titans, Bad News Bears, the fucking Mighty Ducks, you notice a trend in all those?

Don't you think a SPORTS MOVIE might be a liiiittle better if you're not following the doucebag that most of those movies make the villain?

I want cyberpunk Bad News Bears or The Sandlot now

As shit as Sonnie's Edge might have been, the fight was really neat.

Having your antagonist be revealed as a misogynist just to have him defeated in some ironic situation is virtue signaling and a shitty method to establishing a strong female character.
It's shown that its important for her to win as a personal thing to "get revenge" on the dudes who fucked her in an alleyway. It has nothing the fuck to do with the fact she's cybernetically connected to her monster in a way if "she dies she dies". It's not properly set up to pull that garbage, and its nowhere near a rational pacing for it either.

Not bad. I appreciate the existence of this just because we finally found something to take advantage of the streaming platform Netflix has given us.to experiment with new forms of animation and storytelling that couldn't be done in television now that being said a lot of the shorts here were pretty bland and feel entirely like tech demos to show off new teleology than to tell an interesting story in a new way also it suffers from the same moniker most "adult" originated cartoons suffer from whereas the dialogue has to be full to the brim with vulgarity just to make it seem like its adult without actually fitting the tone it makes me appreciate shows like Bojack for having some restraint and being a true animated program for adults rather than trying to be so. My favorite short was Good Hunting due to how fucking weird it was and for it being in 2D. Least favorite was Ice Age due to how uninspired it was.

Didn't like Zima?

>They clearly establish it's important for her to win

Well, no. Her friend made a point of it but she didn't react.

>you know the rich asshole is going to retaliate.
Fucking duh, everyone could see that a mile away and it was boorrrriinngg as fuck for an antagonist. This is literally the plot to several Captain Planet villains.

>. it make sense and the story properly establish its setting for this resolution to flow naturally.

It's very unnatrual because it happens when it matters the least.

>Which is the case, here.

Sure, unless you're not dumb and realize that her on a winning streak puts her at the top of the advantage list, so in order for the threat to grow it has to start out above her and move up from there instead of what they did in the fight, which was mostly have her dominate, and the stakes the whole time was 'her pride' so they aren't growing or shrinking as the battle went on. At the start of the fight, all we know is she'll, I don't know, feel bad, I guess, if she loses? That's it. She might be upset she lost and feel bad. Then at the end of the fight, right when it looks like she might lose, the stakes are 'She might feel bad her dinosaur died'. The stakes didn't grow, they weren't established at a natural pace, and at the end it didn't matter.

>Just tell me people don't get annoyed at the stockjock picking on the protagonist in any high school movie
I can objectively say I hear less complain about it than about people complaining the antagonist is misogynist.

>Honestly we don't know how she feels about men
We know for a fact she don't hate all men, as she has a male friend.

> her friend screams and makes sure to emphasize men and only men during her rant
She mention how she was rapped and beted and take make a parrale wit the rich guy who also want to use her. It make sense she makes that connection.
>Like, this guy she's fighting is one of the men who hurt her, right? No, he isn't and nothing in the story indicate it. He is just an asshole who make sexual taunts.

>Only a moron would miss how the friend emphasized one particular gender while talking to the stock 'EVIL businessMAN' character that's so tired and worn it belongs in a museum
Only a moron would take it as "all male", seeing she has a male friend and it's quite clear what she odn't like is men wanting to use her.

>From 'nothing'
Wrong, not from nothing, from "oh fuck, she got woverined". stop callling it nothing.

>Which are?
Winning the fight, despite the opponent playing dirty.

>Okay but those guys are like going for... money? Fame? To be the best? What's she going for here?
Fighting and enjoying victory, the purest of sport goal.

>Which was great for less than one minute when she starts talking.
Which reveal that her life was actually at risk for every fight.

I dunno, I didn't really care that much for the animation. I had no real perspective of what the monsters were or how durable or strong they were so it was just kind of like DBZ or Sonic fanfiction where the powerlevels are kind of made up as the fight goes on.

I think it would have been better to cut out 80% of the dialogue and show more fights, even a montage.

This looks sexual.

>Hey, you ever notice that in most sports stories, we're following the Underdog who's up against someone waayyyyy better?
hey, you ever notice that she actually struggled, in that fight. And that she almost lose.
You re not making a point, there.

>Half the thread is crying about vaginas

I just tune out when people are trading greentext point by point posts back and forth. It's such a Yea Forums tier thing.

>is virtue signaling a
No such thing as virtue signalling. there is hypocrisy, but that has to be proven first.

there isnothing wrong with establishing a character as the bad dude and making him a mysoginist is just as valid as any. There is no reason to be upset about it.

>It has nothing the fuck to do with the fact she's cybernetically connected to her monster in a way if "she dies she dies".
That doens't cancel the first established motivation, you know. you are aware that revealing later on the protag might have further motivation is actually good writing, right ?

>I had no real perspective of what the monsters were or how durable or strong they were
One is big and has an armor and the other one is soft, smaller and with no armor. That would give you an Idea.

But the part when the small one tear appart the arm of the other and this one has a knife that replaced it's arm didn't have sense. I'll give you a point for that.

>She learns nothing.
This is a weird nitpick. Why does she need to learn something for you to consider her a good character? What were you expecting her to learn? A moral or life lesson like this is meant to be teaching children something?

The arm blade coming out all of a sudden, the tentacles splitting all of a sudden and the "im being impaled and dead but my head is actually a knife" thing were all dumb.

I didn't hate the short but it was definitely the weakest one.

Judging from the reaction and discussion after the match, it's not a usual occurance and even considered cheating or a dirty move the same way a kidney punch or headbutt is in boxing. To me it made sense that the fighter and the business guy weren't above pulling dirty shit to win.

>I can objectively say I hear less complain about it than about people complaining the antagonist is misogynist.

Then you're absolutely full of shit or don't pay attention to it when it happens. Or, maybe, because it rarely happens anymore and even the Spider-Man Homecoming creators realized it was tired as fuck.

>We know for a fact she don't hate all men, as she has a male friend.

There's a guy there but we have absolutely no idea how she feels about him. She literally never says a single line of dialog to him, I don't even think he speaks at all. Does she hate him or just allow him to be there because her friend likes him? Who knows! Her relationships are a mystery and one of them just exists to be exposition dumps to a stock boring ass useless villain nobody cared about.

>She mention how she was rapped and beted and take make a parrale wit the rich guy who also want to use her.

The fuck did you just say about my mother? Or... father? Pet goldfish?

> It make sense she makes that connection.
Oh yeah lots o sense in that line.

>Only a moron would take it as "all male", seeing she has a male friend and it's quite clear what she odn't like is men wanting to use her.

There is no greater irony I can think of than the 'I can't hate all of ___ I have a ___ friend' as a defense right now, and that's a good thing.

>Wrong, not from nothing, from "oh fuck, she got woverined". stop callling it nothing.

It's very much nothing because "Oh fuck you got hurt... but are fine now? Yeah you won and are fine, I wasn't worried before and no reason to be worried now that you're 100 percent safe, right?"

So, nothing.

>Winning the fight, despite the opponent playing dirty.

Wait hold up, playing dirty? What did he do?

>Which reveal that her life was actually at risk for every fight.

But, and I can't believe I have to repeat this, not when shes' in danger. Right now. She needs to be in danger NOW.

>the action or practice of publicly expressing opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one's good character or the moral correctness of one's position on a particular issue.

Just because she has motivations behind those that are clearly stated doesn't make the writing good or even slightly tolerable. The fact that they had to make those two things overlap somehow is lazy and hackish. They could have made the second motivation more akin to venting, but no, its about how strong and self righteous she is about fighting directly in the pit.

>Well, no. Her friend made a point of it but she didn't react.
react has nothing to do with establishing. Why would she react, she already know about her own life story.

>Fucking duh, everyone could see that a mile away and it was boorrrriinngg as fuck for an antagonist.
So, you admit you were wrong when you said there was nothing apparently at stake ?

>It's very unnatrual because it happens when it matters the least.
Establishing the protag's motivation before the fight ? yes it matter to do so then.

>Sure, unless you're not dumb and realize that her on a winning streak puts her at the top of the advantage list
You are aware that the better you do in sport, the stronger your opponents are, right ? And that had she just lost once, there would be no story to tell.

I liked the Wolfenstein mecha hitler nod.

>Then you're absolutely full of shit or don't pay attention to it when it happens.
I pay attention, and It's the most objective thing to say that people complain more about misogynist antagonist than jock being an asshole to the twink.

>There's a guy there but we have absolutely no idea how she feels about him.
She literally say he saved her life. and again, you out yourself as a moron if you consider this was an attack on all males. It's obviously not the case.

>There is no greater irony I can think of than the 'I can't hate all of ___ I have a ___ friend'
>all
All is the operative word there. It's a bad defence if you are accused of hating a group in general, but it's a valid one if you are accused to hate "all of them". Furthermore, the story establish quite clearly that she only hate a certain category of men, the one who want to use her. Reacting like she hate lall the men make you quite the insecure type.
>It's very much nothing because "Oh fuck you got hurt... but are fine now? Yeah you won and are fine, I wasn't worried before and no reason to be worried now that you're 100 percent safe, right?"
>So, nothing.
Wrong. she isn't retiring after that.
>Wait hold up, playing dirty? What did he do?
used bones, it's against the rule.
>But, and I can't believe I have to repeat this, not when shes' in danger. Right now. She needs to be in danger NOW.
No ? and by that I mean, no! realising afterward a protag was risking his life the whole time is not bad writing.

>Why would she react, she already know about her own life story.

Because then she shows emotion as to why it's important to win instead of just exposition? The exposition didn't make it important.

>So, you admit you were wrong when you said there was nothing apparently at stake ?

Literally the opposite because, and I know this is going to blow your mind, if you go back at all the metric utterfuckton of tired worn out shitty "White guy in a suit' villains across any medium, you will find that the vaassstt majority of these one note boring things get killed off super easily. They always lose and it's so predictable it there is not a chance in hell there are any stakes left.

>Establishing the protag's motivation before the fight ? yes it matter to do so then.

No, the reveal, the reveal is placed unnaturally because both reveals come at the time when it means there is the least amount of any danger for her.

>You are aware that the better you do in sport, the stronger your opponents are, right?

I'm sorry, you seem to have had a stroke or don't know how... any sport works?

Jesus fuck I mean what the hell.

>And that had she just lost once, there would be no story to tell.

Or, OR, just spitballing, this is her coming back after the attack/rape? She just came back from a traumatic experience, nobody knows what she can do, the stakes are at their highest because she's at the bottom and hey, you can just have the announcer say the guy she's fighting won 17 matches. Sure seems dangerous there, doesn't he? He won seventeen matches and she's won zero, sure seems like not only might she lose, but she could be knocked back down to nothing after this.

You know like a sports movie that wasn't written by... well, just plain a really bad writer?

problematic isn't it? right now I'm writing an article about this thread, I'm gonna call it "why stupid incels at Yea Forums are stupid shit and also nazis." please subscribe.

It's a fight of weird monsters, I think there supposed to be surprises, also this >"im being impaled and dead but my head is actually a knife"
Look at his head, It looks like a knife, I don't what are you suprised.

>It's a bad defence if you are accused of hating a group in general, but it's a valid one if you are accused to hate "all of them".

Something is off about this sentence.

Can you spot what it is?

>The fact that they had to make those two things overlap somehow is lazy and hackish.
Motivations overlaping is common and almost expected. now you are just making up rules to complain about the story.

>They could have made the second motivation more akin to venting,
Venting was the first established motivation.

>but no, its about how strong and self righteous she is about fighting directly in the pit.
It was never about being self righteous. The more you post, the more you out yourself as an insecure person.

Maybe I'm just used to monster and fantasy design, but it was pretty obvious to me what type of fighters they were by the details and even judging them if they were human by build alone. The opponent is armored with spiky rock like material, powerfully built and moved like a tank. Khanavore was smaller, more agile, less armor and built with speed in mind. The edged look of it's head is also knife/angular shaped and more weaponized looking than built for protection, which is a dead giveaway what it's used for.

It was a good thread until this faggot showed up-

I wasn't surprised I was disappointed by the mediocre anime fight.

Pfffttahhahahahaah

>No, I don't hate ALL black people, I just hate the criminals! You know, the ones who make people feel unsafe! I'm fine with most black guys, this guy has been my friends for years!

>No, I don't hate ALL muslims, just the ones who listen to the that book they read, it teaches them bad things! I was a solider, I got shot once so obviously after something so traumatic happened I would hate more of them. I'm fine with most muslims, this one even helped me out back in iraq!

It's literally the same fucking argument holy shit the breakdown

Sonnie... hence the name Sonnie's Edge

Suits wasn't my favorite short but it's the one I want more of the most, either a series or a video game.

I'll put Sonnie's Edge at a 3/5, if only mostly because of the monster pit fight scene and the twist ending. But I will admit the business guy's misogyny and the lady's fight da man spiel got me rolling my eyes. I did find out though that Sonnie's Edge was based off a short story and apparently Sonnie was just playing up the "Men raped me, so I hate them!" card to throw of her opponents perception of what motivates her to fight in the ring. Still, that part didn't come across in the animation, so, eh.

I would have preferred maybe if they depicted the point in time Sonnie's team first transplanted her brain in Khanivore to save her life. And Sonnie's initial fear and amateurish desperation from going into her first pit battle in order to pay the bills and maintain her new body. And in the aftermath of the fight, despite being shaken, Sonnie has an epiphany that at least she's not helpless in her new body. That would play out the 'girl power' undertone much better than the obnoxiously hardened depiction she is by her 18th fight.

She won those 17, not him. It's established that she's on a hot streak in the beginning. Which in context makes the whole risking her life thing hit a lot harder because she's fighting as that thing seventeen times and one, including the first ever time she's fighting as a monster.

you means those two They are the one who cried about "Stronk female" after all.

>Y-You're just insecure!
Fun fact bud, violently different motivations don't necessarily met well when trying to create a strong character and figuring out their purpose in the narrative.

are you retarded

>I pay attention, and It's the most objective thing to say that people complain more about misogynist antagonist than jock being an asshole to the twink.

Then you're either focusing on that, or you're focusing on a subsection of that and ignoring the 'this is bad writing' for the twink thing. But alas.

>She literally say he saved her life.

I think I missed this, so I'll concede this point if you're right?

> and again, you out yourself as a moron if you consider this was an attack on all males. It's obviously not the case.

Sure, just 'certain undesireables', right?

>t's a bad defence if you are accused of hating a group in general, but it's a valid one if you are accused to hate "all of them".

I legit don't know how to respond to this. I think you might've broke me with the bad arguement here because every time I try to explain it I end up finding yet another problem in this contradiction and more am just confused.

>Reacting like she hate lall the men make you quite the insecure type.

Honestly I don't care what the character hates, it's mostly the shitty writing around it and the bad character archetype they used to empahsize it. It's lazy, boring, shitty writing.

>Wrong. she isn't retiring after that.

Okay? And then we get to see that, right?

No? Well thanks for possibly adding tension in imaginary future stories.

>used bones, it's against the rule.

How the fuck
what
That thing on her tail is a bone what the fuck do they think it's made of

Who made this rule and how the fuck does it make sense the only way for it to happen is limbs getting pulled off what

That is such bad writing it makes no sense the fuck

>realising afterward a protag was risking his life the whole time is not bad writing.

It very much is because saying 'I was in trouble the whole time' is the very definition of fake stakes. No no it only looked like she was in no danger and might be hurt, she could've been hurt the whole time! She could've slipped and died too!

The lady was a honey trap, how can you take her seriously? It's no different from a woman telling a man she's about to kill about how turned on she is. See Mystique with that fatass in Xmen 2 for an example. The businessman just came off as the usual condescending dick that type usually does, the type that would have called Sonnie a little boy playing games with men if he was male.

>violently different motivations
They aren't violently different. Fuck, competition instinct, instinct to not let yourself dominate and survival instinct are quite connected. Why do you keep making things up ?

I am not. It's quite the reaction to somone saying "she is actually written correctly".

Suit's wasn't the most complex or best animated, but it has a super comfy feel and really would make for a great game setup. Like Harvest Moon meets Aliens or Starship Troopers:

>You're a simple kid on Earth, one day you get a comm from some not-Weyland Yutani lawyer.
>Your grandfather's died and left you the homestead
>Arrive on not-LV-426 and decide to have a go of running a farm on the frontier
>Along the way you'll upgrade the farm, meet townsfolk, make lifelong friends, marry a nice girl, raise a family, and build a fucking sweet ass mech to defend your farm, friends, and family from the alien menace

go back where you belong
>>>/reddit/

>That thing on her tail is a bone what the fuck do they think it's made of
Maybe it's cartilage, or keratin and that might be legit. All I know is they say in the short that bones aren't allowed as weapon.

>me get revenge on men who raped me >:(
>ME FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
sure, same thing, lets go with that

>You can never write a story about a rape/abuse victim again because faggots will cry about it being attack on their manhood
It's Fury Road all over again

New thread, when?

She's not, and the reasoning for it is astoundingly retarded, just like toy

>She won those 17, not him

I know, which made it very, very likely she would win.

>It's established that she's on a hot streak in the beginning.

So we're not worried that she'll win. She's won a shitton and there's nothing showing this guy has a decent chance of winning even if he gets the upperhand at some point, and ta daaaa, she won, who could have seen this coming but the guy who was like 'Hey! Two more punches on her winning and I get a free Nuka Cola!'

>Which in context makes the whole risking her life thing hit a lot harder

Opposite, she's fine. We see she's fine. We don't care about how many exposition almost not-fines she was in because she's fine.

> because she's fighting as that thing seventeen times and one,

Maybe that would matter if we saw her fight seventeen times and then revealed it, but it's exposition. It's talking. It's not engaging because it's just. Talking. You can say anything in a movie, or real life even! Showing it's a little different.

>including the first ever time she's fighting as a monster.

Boy I bet that was really tense. First time tasting real damage, first time in a fight where she might die, first time she gets to worry if those guys were right when they called her worthless, first time when those sexual taunts hit hard, I bet that first battle was really, really intense!

Or not, this writing is so bad they might've fucked it up too.

Rewatch the scene, it's not just a bone, whatever it material was it was a clearly artificial edged weapon that was folded inside the arm. The creature literally unleashes it

You are not trying to equate me saying you are wrong for you calling it "violently different" with me saying "they are the same thing", now ?

Anyway, I don't know how you can say that getting back on the kind of people that beat her to death and survival aren't connected. It require some level of bad faith, there.

>Okay? And then we get to see that, right?
>No? Well thanks for possibly adding tension in imaginary future stories.
user this is a short story, not a full on series. Short stories often are just a peek at a world and that's it, they explained enough for most people to understand clearly.
>That thing on her tail is a bone what the fuck do they think it's made of.
The tail is an natural part of her and no different from a set of fucking claws. Hence legal. The arm blade was a hidden weapon and not part of the creature's typical biology as pointed out by her assistants. It's the same as a corked bat in Baseball or placing metal in a boxing glove.

i've seen a total of 4 dicks so far. i want more.

She is. the only complain I see is"she is bad because she hate men". and "it's not good because the villain is misogynistic", it's quite the arbitrary rule set.

Someone even said it was bad because the story was saying "fuck men" which isn't the case.

>I know, which made it very, very likely she would win.
That's not how it work, the more you win, the stronger your opponents are. That's competition for you.

Yes and it's considered against the rules. For cartilage or keratin, I was talking about the female monster.

The point of the post I made was that the two motivations ARE contrastingly different, despite what you said. The dudes who raped her and the monsters she fights in the pits have no correlation with each other whatsoever. "Vengeance" and "maintaining survival" are two entirely separate concepts from one another

You've barely read through the thread.

>The point of the post I made was that the two motivations ARE contrastingly different,
Again, no they araen't you trying to rewrite reality doesn't help your case.
>The dudes who raped her and the monsters she fights in the pits have no correlation
Survival and competition instinct are very connected.

>"Vengeance" and "maintaining survival" are two entirely separate concepts from one another
They literally aren't and are closely related. Who do you think is going to believe you, there.

I did.

>user this is a short story, not a full on series.

So maybe, I don't know, put the emphasis on the part you're showing?

>they explained enough for most people to understand clearly.

Hence the issue. You understand the danger AFTER the danger has passed in both instances. You have a short time period, put the danger in the part we're watching.

>
The tail is an natural part of her and no different from a set of fucking claws. Hence legal. The arm blade was a hidden weapon and not part of the creature's typical biology as pointed out by her assistants. It's the same as a corked bat in Baseball or placing metal in a boxing glove.

I can accept that? It's still pretty bad writing because he was like 'yes, I will absolutely lose an arm in this fight, PREPARE THE ARM BLADE!' but at least it makes sense as far as cheating? I think? Nobody stopped the fight or anything.

>That's not how it work, the more you win, the stronger your opponents are. That's competition for you.

It literally is not in any sport and I'm very confused as to what you think sports even are.

Do you think if you win six boxing matches, you unlock a new guy?

>"Vengeance" and "maintaining survival" are two entirely separate concepts from one another
Objectively wrong.

I swear it's like you're mad this wasn't a 2 hour movie following your specific nitpicks, because your arguments get more and more disingenuous. By your first argument alone, Apollo shouldn't have lost in Rocky 2 or gotten killed in 4, or The Spider shouldn't have broken his leg in that championship fight. It's a combat sport, shit happens. The rest just loop back to you crying about needing to see every fight to establish something everyone else understood and not understanding the concept of writing and story structure at all.

>That's not how it work, the more you win, the stronger your opponents are. That's competition for you.

So this guy she's fighting won what, 18 matches? Did he win 17 as well and now she gets to fight someone who won 18? Is there a final boss or just a never ending supply of monsters who have won an aribtrary number of fights? Do the monsters have to wait until someone wins that amount or can they fight higher above their level? Honestly your hilariously bad description of competition and sports is more interesting than what the short had.

>rewrite reality
>they literally aren't and are closely related
Just because someone tries to survive in order to get their revenge, doesn't mean those two are the same concept. Revenge is a motivation for survival, not the other way around. Therefore they're separate concepts.

Attached: fullsizeoutput_73e.jpg (261x326, 68K)

>Hence the issue. You understand the danger AFTER the danger has passed in both instances.
Wrong.
In the first instance you think she is in danger bu then it is revealed that she actually wasn't. In the second instance, you think she is safe, but then realise after ward she wasn't and then realise she will keep putting her live in danger afterwards. You can't say you realise the danger after for BOTH

>So this guy she's fighting won what, 18 matches? Did he win 17 as well and now she gets to fight someone who won 18?
It means he is strong, maybe not a perfect streak, but likely more victories. I mean, do you even Boxing ? It's probably not that different.

>doesn't mean those two are the same concept.
Again, trying to make me said what I didn't. I said they are related and you trying to push that they are completely disconnected only make you look foolish.

>Revenge is a motivation for survival, not the other way around. Therefore they're separate concepts.
Not how it work.
Also, the first established motivation is not Revenge but taking a victory over life, after life handed her a shitty blow. competition instinct and survival are connected too.

Stop being a nitpicky little faggot, they're closely related, fine, but my point still stands.

>I swear it's like you're mad this wasn't a 2 hour movie following your specific nitpicks,

Brand new deflection appears! And it makes about as much sense as the other "It wasn't the movie you said, that's why you hate it and not the things listed I can't argue!"

>because your arguments get more and more disingenuous

Same arguments at the start. Bad character because
>Boring archtype
>No development
>No stakes
>No reason to be invested in victory
>Her backstory doesn't develop her character
>She starts out the best so we're not worried if she'll win
>Her villain is a bog standard boring archtype that's been used to death and is so damn boring you don't care if she wins or loses against this cardboard cutout
>Twist hurts story because it reveals she was in danger when it matters the least in both instances

>. By your first argument alone, Apollo shouldn't have lost in Rocky 2 or gotten killed in 4,

Literally the opposite because Rocky was the underdog who had lost to him previously and then it was to establish the new, way stronger threat Rocky had to beat.
>r The Spider shouldn't have broken his leg in that championship fight.
I don't get this one.

> The rest just loop back to you crying about needing to see every fight to establish something everyone else understood and not understanding the concept of writing and story structure at all.

Literally the opposite on all counts, but good on you for at least looking up concepts of writing? Now study 'stakes', 'tension', and 'character development' and blow your world apart!

Or just use "Misogynistic evil rich guy' again, I'm sure it'll be riveting the billionth time he loses to the one who keeps winning everything.

>. I mean, do you even Boxing ? It's probably not that different.

Do... do you?

I'm legit asking if you know how boxing works because that's not how boxing works.

>they're closely related, fine, but my point still stands.
Your original point was that they were
-separate concepts.
-violently different
-contrastingly different

So, no, you actually admitting they are closely related means your point doesn't stand.

>So maybe, I don't know, put the emphasis on the part you're showing?
They did. They didn't do it in the autistic manner you seem to want.
>Hence the issue. You understand the danger AFTER the danger has passed in both instances. You have a short time period, put the danger in the part we're watching.
They did twice. I swear, people like you are why writing has become so dumbed down and everything just explained in pure exposition or shown multiple times when once was enough.
>I can accept that? It's still pretty bad writing because he was like 'yes, I will absolutely lose an arm in this fight, PREPARE THE ARM BLADE!' but at least it makes sense as far as cheating? I think? Nobody stopped the fight or anything
Use your brain. Fighters observe opponents they're about to fight, and if your opponent known for dismembering opponents then yeah, it's a damned good idea. Plus in case it went over your head, The businessman was fixing the fuck out of the match.
>It literally is not in any sport and I'm very confused as to what you think sports even are.
More than you apparently because you don't understand the concept of Ranking or how championships work.

Beyond is the spookiest.

Boxing doesn't make you face stronger opponent when you keep winning, making you higher and higherin the classement.

I never said that Boxing only make face people that never lose, I say they tend to match people of similar strength and that someone with a big winning string can still fight someone more or ls equal if that opponent has more win, even if it isn't an unbroken streak.

The Spider, Anderson Silva. Look up his history and how he lost the belt. The rest of your argument isn't worth replying to.

That's the point. It was supposed to be reminiscent of Sonnie's rape.

>They didn't do it in the autistic manner you seem to want.

It's autistic to want to know how she's in danger when she's in danger, not after she's fine, healed up and now against something that can't possibly hurt her.

Alright then, guess I'm weird to want more than 'girl on winning streak but no chance of dying goes up against guy I have no reason to think is any good'.

>They did twice.

They did it once, for less than a minute, and then revealed that the part you were not worried about was the part you were supposed to be worried about.

>I swear, people like you are why writing has become so dumbed down and everything just explained in pure exposition or shown multiple times when once was enough.

Bull fucking shit, if that were true the minute someone presented that shitty businessman archtype for the villain they would have been laughed out of the room for even suggesting so tired, one note and all around garbage writing.

>Use your brain.
I did and it's hilarious to imagine how this came about.

>ighters observe opponents they're about to fight, and if your opponent known for dismembering opponents then yeah, it's a damned good idea.

Like look at it from his perspective. "She always rips chunks off. Now, you may say 'it's a fight, how do you know which limb, which part, and when in the fight she's going to rip it off? There's a million factors here', but I say to you, put swords in everything! Everything I say! No matter the juncture I will have swords!"

To be honest for a second I'm not even bothered by the arm blade, its that weird kind of so absurd it works. It's funny to think about how it came to be and a fun visual, minor hiccups like that don't hurt the story.

>More than you apparently

I'm going to have to contest this.

>because you don't understand the concept of Ranking or how championships work.

And I can tell you its not a victory based thing=stronger fighters. A boxer with 4 victories fought Muhammad Ali with 27.

>endless shitflinging over just one short
>almost zero discussion about the others, as if people just watched the first one and got so absolutely fucking assblasted they had to come on Yea Forums bitch and cry about muh SJWs ruining EVERYTHING again immediately
Fucking hell.

>The rest of your argument isn't worth replying to.

Pal? Never try to end on that note after you just spent all that time trying to come up with some way to fight and then ran out. There is just no way to spin "I've spent an hour losing this argument, but I shant spend an hour and five minutes, I've class unlike you, peasant swine!"

I mean even if you think you're winning you're still saying "I was winning all this time, but I shant win anymore, I've won enough today, no matter how it appears to the others!"

>They did it once, for less than a minute, and then revealed that the part you were not worried about was the part you were supposed to be worried about.
>>I swear, people like you are why writing has become so dumbed down and everything just explained in pure exposition or shown multiple times when once was enough.
I have made a point of never accusing anyone of reddit spacing, but that double spacing is telling, also, spacing after greenttext is a fucking big red flag.

>as if people just watched the first one and got so absolutely fucking assblasted they had to come on Yea Forums bitch and cry about muh SJWs ruining EVERYTHING again immediately

You'd think, but this shit all actually started because someone said "Wow, this character from Lucky 13 was a good female character! Way better than the monster-girl one!" and some guy just lost his fucking shit that "REEEEEE THE MONSTER GIRL WASN'T BAD YOU JUST HATE STRONG WOMEN REEEEEE"

It automatically spaces when I copy-paste. Well, that and I do it instinctual when I do quotes, writing dialog does that to you.

>and some guy just lost his fucking shit that "REEEEEE THE MONSTER GIRL WASN'T BAD YOU JUST HATE STRONG WOMEN REEEEEE"
Correction, someone replied saying she was written well too, and some user started going "REEEEEEElet me enumerate all the reason she is bad and fail at each point". Also, the initial post was about how the only difference was that the two other shorts hadn't male assholes in it, not that it had a strong woman.

The combination of farmers + western mecha is genius honestly. You could do so much with it.

I'd watch a whole series of this shit. Big monsters tearing each other apart + that level of animation = pure bliss.

i don't like some of them make me wonder if it's actually full cgi or not

What a rollercoaster! So much fun, reminded me of the magazine Heavy Metal.

>Also, the initial post was about how the only difference was that the two other shorts hadn't male assholes in it, not that it had a strong woman.

Actually it was
>They didn't complain about some men doing wrong to them, so you didn't feel personally attacked.

So yeah.

>REEEEE you all just feel insecure about men, unlike me who will spend multiple hours failing to get anyone to agree with one point then saying it's not worth it!

It's less about winning and more like I'm wasting my time because this argument is going to get dumber every reply. Especially since the guy doesn't even understand obvious shit.

>Secret War
That last stand, that music, mmm! Absolutely delicious!

>>They didn't complain about some men doing wrong to them, so you didn't feel personally attacked.
Which isn't the same as >YOU JUST HATE STRONG WOMEN REEEEEE"

> who will spend multiple hours failing
Never failed. Nice try.

10/10, would play

>Hurr durr---Evull mens hert me!

>Now Ima supur monstur!

>Grrrrrl powrrrr revenge on mens time!!

This dipshit writing-crutch is literally only to get liberal cookies and it has worn thin.

Sonnie and Robo-fox-girl were the worst offenders of this BS.

Did anyone else think he was cute?

Attached: 1.png (1920x1080, 2.15M)

That was pretty enjoyable just really thin. Good setup for a series or game or something though.

>>Hurr durr---Evull mens hert me!
>>Now Ima supur monstur!
>>Grrrrrl powrrrr revenge on mens time!!
You know you can make the plot of basically all stories sound stupid, when written like that. You are not making a point.

Thank you UC Berkeley. I see your Class and Gender Studies Program Degree is serving you well.

It's called Borderland.

Gendurrrrr Studies Major over here.

Uhh, dude it IS lame though.

Simple plots are fine--writing crutches with political agendas that are tired, pointless, forced, and try to analogize those tired pointless elements to some version of the real world that only exists in the mind of some gender-studies-toxic-feminist have worn out their welcome.

That's the point, and it's valid.

>literally remove gender from the equation
>call it gender study
okay I am not the one calling something bas specifically because it's about gender, though.

>writing crutches with political agendas that are tired, pointless, forced
There is nothing forced and making an antagonist misogynist is just an as valid way as any other. Rape isn't a forbidden trope, you know. It's no more pointless or forced than any story tropes.

>>user it was a fucking space spider god that kidnaps people and fucking eats them.
they spent nearly their entire lives in the pods due to an error before landing in her web, she clearly could have done anything she wanted to them, she tried to warm him, but he insisted on knowing

nothing was forcing her to tell the truth and she only puts him back to sleep once he freaks out so she can try again

seems like she can't feed them or they were already fucked by the time they got there too, no evidence they were even moved from their pods so chances are the brood built the web while she dug around his mind to learn about them

The very act of putting "muh missogynee" in anything at this point is just worn out and done strictly because it is a learned crutch to make a 1-dimensional baddy to just toss at the audience is the modern equivalent of what a "black hat" was in the 1920's in film.

And yes, most of that forced and projected "hurr durr men r bad" stuff exists because some washed up old lady gender studies professor with a bone to pick against the memory of a man who cheated on her in the 70's left her bitter, with her only pleasure in line being infecting the minds of her students with a healthy hatred of men.

spider

It's pathetic and 1 dimensional is all. See It boring "black hat" tier stuff. It is pre-school level villains, only we have degraded so far in our intellectualism as a society, thanks to stuff like this, that adult women (and v-j-j men) buy into it as a conditioned response leaned in school.

>It is pre-school level villains
It's a fucking 20 minutes short

if the rest of his shit is even half as good ill take it

>It's ok to have awful writing because it's a short.

>The very act of putting "muh missogynee" in anything at this point is just worn out
It's just as legit as the antagonist being any kind of asshole. only a few people who roll out their eyes too easily take offens in it.

>It's pathetic and 1 dimensional
It is no more than any other way to make a character an antagonist.

>>It's ok to have awful writing
You still haven't established it's awful. making a character misogynist doesn't mean it is bad writing.

all of it, they got fucked and she is just trying to help

seems like they aren't the first ones either

You've said nothing to demonstrate it's bad writing other than claiming "it's forced" which later somehow turned to "it's too simple", almost like you don't really have anything to say. It's like user said, it's absurd to act like rape and assholes should be forbidden in media only because you think it gives ammo to "gender-studies-toxic-feminism" and nonsense like that

Ok. It's the equivalent of a dude in a black hat twirling his mustache.

It's a crutch born out of a political agenda pushing the same something over and over and over.

If you don't think that is bad, than you can just say you have a different taste than me and go back to enjoying the flavors of your leftist professor's ass.

Attached: Chair.jpg (480x360, 10K)

You are right.

Female protagonists with "rape" in their past, or a victim complex from the "mean old paytweeocky" being bad to her are also 1 dimensional.

>Chair.jpg
Yes user, we can see you're mad over nothing, no need to point it out like that

>I see sarcasm goes over your head.

>It's the equivalent of a dude in a black hat twirling his mustache.
It's really not. You are confusing look and character traits. The stangest part about your attitude is that the "evil rich" aspect of that character is much more caricatural than his misogyny.

Just because they have been raped doesn't mean they are 1 dimensional.

>You can't make a joke, i made one first!

>It's the equivalent of a dude in a black hat twirling his mustache.
It's not. it's about how it's written and in his case it fit well within the story.

>It's a crutch born out of a political agenda
No, it's not. Misoginist people exist in real life and it's therefore legit to use them in fiction.
