She's got childbearing hips.

How about a tight pussy?

You were a better light hearted take on Batgirl than Babs could ever hope to be.

>I want her to beat me with a brick.
Care to elaborate? Given her character history that's normally a thing that'd happen to her.

She threw a brick at Tim Drake once.

And Black Mask tortured her with a drill and possibly raped her.

Steph is for Cass.

Chuck Dixon. It was a way for her to be on the sideline of the entire No Man's Land event.

I'd put a baby in her

Didio hates her.
99 times out of a hundred that means she's a good character.

I like her

Everyone has their first Batgirl, that is their Batgirl, the one who will definitely always be the 'real' one to them.

Steph is my Batgirl.

I actually enjoy her run as Batgirl a lot, one of the first comics I read. So she holds a special place in my heart

She has a chill fanbase.

Best Bat.

Hooray, another Steph thread!

Peppiest! Batgirl! Evah!

Attached: chibi stephs.png (540x523, 133K)

Basically, Didio hates anything that evolves the character past his precious "iconic" guidelines. It's business, but a very flawed state of business. oh the irony that Cassandra gets into Birds of Prey and more fans will know of her by being attached to Harley will be hilarious.

Though I prefer the middle of the three, I do appreciate Stephanie as well given it fits her narrative perfectly.

Attached: 1394847119594.png (1050x1575, 991K)

I love that image.

Cass was actually my "first" Batgirl, but Steph is my favorite, because she fits my idea of what a hero should be - imperfect, but picks herself back up, and forms and community around her.

Cass is great, but her stories bum me out because even though she's the best fighter ever, she can't really win.

Perhaps, but Cassandra's stories were a product of the Batman comics at that time. Yet, look at her as well. She has her fans just like Stephanie does.

There is so much untapped wealth that DC has but barely touches because "protection" is just assinine over Barbara.

I'm not saying at all that Cass shouldn't have fans. I am a fan, just not as much as I am of Steph. I much prefer Cass to Babs as Batgirl (though I think Oracle is awesome).

It's very true that Cass is very, very Rucka/Brubaker era. I'm a fan of Bruce Wayne, Murderer - but it's also deeply flawed in both plotting and execution. Ah, well.

True, and Stephanie was very much in keeping with the era she was in Morrison Era. The problem Stephanie has is well-- DC just never had faith with her. New 52 comes--- bam they go straight to Barbara.

drill peppers?

Steph is also a holdover from the Dixon/O'Neil era, which was, like Morrison, a much more cheerful, optimistic period for the Batbooks. Which is not to say she (or comics from that era) were fluffy - it's just that there was a sense that you could meaningfully fight against evil, instead of the slow defeat.

DC definitely doesn't have faith in her - she's only flourished when she's had a writer who really loves her (Dixon, Miller, and Tynion - and even though I think Tynion really does love Steph, I think it's pretty clear he loves her least of his 90s kids, so she got the least development and "cool" moments in his otherwise extremely fun run)

Somewhat contradictorily, as a Steph fan, I love the fact that she was Robin, and even to some extent that she died, because it's a rallying point for her fans. Without it, she likely would have just slipped lower and lower on the radar. Instead, she's never going to be forgotten, because she was freaking Robin.

It's a mean spirited joke about Black Mask torturing her, and her being hot and spicy because she had a kid.

>Batman fires you
>finally prove yourself to him
>Batman fires you (again)
>finally prove yourself to him (again)
>the universe itself fires you
Being Steph is suffering.

Atta user, Pollyana to the very end. And that she does. It really is remarkable how completely tone-deaf DC can be to its own narratives though.

And I love that Scot Eaton clearly cribbed from Batgirl for this shot.

Attached: Batman- War Games - Book One-222.jpg (1987x3056, 1.45M)

He cribbed a lot from Batgirl v. 1 for the pages prior and after that page. It was weird he didn't homage a shot from V. 3.

There's something to ships with Batman villains and the batgirls, Babs and Killer Moth, Steph and Scarecrow. Which one should get Cass? Clayface feels off after their friendship. Mad Hatter, Fries or Deadshot?

I seem to remember Black Mask using peppers and sprinkling the powder in her eyes after drilling into her limbs for a while in War Games. That torture scene was messed up.

Yeah, it was mostly just generic Steph Batgirl poses. But honoring Steph as Robin was so uexpected and so awesome I don't mind.

I like the new guy. He's got moxie. But before the unnecessary Mom twist, deeefinitely .

Attached: casskarma.jpg (1198x2454, 1.09M)

What we could have had...

So who's better in the bedroom? Cass or Stephanie?

In the end, probably Cass. But Steph taught her everything she knows.

Attached: 45F1FFBF-BA96-4E2F-AD98-5E7EB48A841E.png (720x540, 445K)

It's the one thing we know canonically that Steph has done that Cass has not.

So the best idea is to have them both at once?

Steph being abused/fondled by Black Mask was implied only I suppose, if you read between the lines and considered what a supervillain would do to a rookie vigilante who got herself caught. Never explicitly mentioned though, for good reason. Comics don't want to go there.
While Karma probably won't be back (didn't his mind get broken?) Cass running into someone she couldn't beat with skill/style was interesting. Her losing like that is rare enough to be interesting.

Attached: tumblr_nq6d6zudxM1qe96vjo1_1280.jpg (1000x725, 92K)

That and Black Mask is fond of torture.

I always read the torture itself as being Black Mask's fetish, not actually rape.

So he just tortures her instead of raping her?

>While Karma probably won't be back (didn't his mind get broken?)
It did, though given Bruce stated he intended to try and fix him, and that Outsiders was seemingly going to continue building from the seeds planted in that arc, I wouldn’t be shocked if Hill found some further use for him down the road. If Outsiders ever actually happens, anyway.

>Cass running into someone she couldn't beat with skill/style was interesting. Her losing like that is rare enough to be interesting.
Absolutely. It was also a lot of fun to see someone read Cass as easily as she does those around her. Got under her skin for sure.

I think it's cute.

It is. I'm surprised there's not more.

The logical ship.

I still think the Steph/Detective Gage ship was a bit strange. Not bad, but I was never really on board.

When Gordon confirmed his love for Batman to Gage.

Attached: heyyou.jpg (800x563, 97K)

His LEGAL love!

On its own it was fine, but the fact that it was a weird unrequited-all-across-the-board love triangle with Babs made it...odd.

The only really sad thing about the ending of Steph's series (other than the lack of a protracted battle against Cluemaster directly) was that the Gage stuff wrapped up too quickly.

Attached: RCO011.jpg (1041x1600, 571K)

>It’s a brick. “Spoilerangs” would’ve looked stupid.

>Batgirl threads for Steph or Cass
>No real ongoing series, haven't had one for years, only played side characters in an arc that's been over for a while
>Last for days, many posters

>Kara threads or storytimes
>Has had an ongoing since forever, low quality Rebirth finally getting better
>Threads fizzle out, noone seems to care too much
Why is this? What do Steph/Cass have on Kara that makes them so much more popular than the Girl of Steel in comics?

Attached: 1531708839384.png (500x750, 449K)

Oooh, nice reference to "eggplant" vs. "purple."

Because there's so much Kara out there. She's everywhere. You also just said it yourself user that her Rebirth comic is only now getting good.

Cass/Steph have their runs (though the former had more appearances in Tec than Steph who did have two single issues devoted to her). It's just the nature of Yea Forums. There has always been a very strong Cass/Steph fanbase here.

Attached: backawayhussyshesMINE.jpg (480x280, 109K)

Speaking for myself, every Supergirl story I read just isn't very good, while Steph and Cass have really good stories that indicate potential for more.

Kara’s not enough of a walking disaster.

Attached: C4F5379D-98ED-46F0-9D29-A01F418BFD6F.jpg (976x902, 438K)

I wish Spencer could have written his Supergirl, Steph, and Damian team-up. The Amy Reeder covers were gorgeous.

Attached: Supergirl_61_unused_cover (1).jpg (900x1366, 226K)

This got me thinking, since we have a Dark Trinity (Jason, Artemis and Bizzaro), why not a Happy one with Steph, Kara and WW's little brother who got introduced not that long ago (no idea what he's like or what happened to him though)

Attached: Supergirl_62_unused_cover.jpg (499x720, 85K)

Uh... got any recs for a newbie user? I haven't read any stories about em...

Ahahahahahaha.

Steph, Kara, and maybe Cassie or Donna would work. Jason is a horrible character who basically ruined Wonder Woman's book for a year.

Well, I would definitely recommend both of their Batgirl runs. Cass's run through the first three years of her run, and that's the best era for her stuff. Steph's run through her whole run, and it's really a delightful two year arc.

There's also a couple of nice "recs" images that I unfortunately don't have saved to my compy right now.

Uh... I'm really sorry for my noobness user but you got specific titles or writers? I kinda noticed that most runs tend to have the same titles and stuff so I wanna make sure I'm reading the right one. Thanks for the recs!

I've never been a Supergirl fan, but I feel like I couldn't tell you what Kara's character traits are, whereas I could easily with Cass and Steph. Kara has never felt like a very interesting or well-defined character to me.

They do need an update.

The Puckett/Scott Batgirl run for Cass, the Bryan Q. Miller Batgirl run for Steph.

Tynion's Detective Comics during the Rebirth era also featured both, though it has a somewhat mixed reception around here and Cass definitely has a better showcase than Steph. I thought it was fun while it lasted, though.

Same guy btw and I'm also open to Supergirl recs if anyone's got any. Actually any well written female heroes would be good. (Wonder Family, Babs, heck even Marvel stuff I'm not picky.)

Thanks a lot anons! I seriously appreciate how helpful this place is for newbies who need recs. This should keep me busy for a while. Thanks again!

For the new stuff, I'd recommend:

Cass: Batman and Robin Eternal (controversial, but it does contain some really standout issues, and it's her new origin for the n52/Rebirth)

Steph: Batman Eternal (her new origin)
Catwoman: Inheritance by Genevieve Valentine (who also wrote a great Steph issue in Batman and Robin Eternal)
Batgirl: Mindfields by Stewart, Fletcher, and Tarr

For both of them, Detective Comics 934-981, by James Tynion IV. Cass also was a main character in Tec 983-987 by Bryan Hill

Oooh nice. This would be a good continuation once I get a hang of their characters. Thanks! I gotta leave now but I got the thread saved in case anyone else wants to leave more recs. I truly appreciate all you helpful anons! Thanks!

I loved the Tynion Tec run. Not perfect, definitely, but really fun. And while Steph got some inconsistent issues, 980 pretty much made up for it in my book.

Yeah, I don't know anything about the character. Maybe Diana's younger cousin or something in Greek hoplite armour. 3 blondes on a team would get confusing.

I wish we could have a Cass/Steph comic. They play off of each other so well.

Attached: casssteph.png (579x900, 1004K)

Yes, throw Cassie in there. I want to drown in cute blonde girls.

Donna isn't blonde. I do like the idea of flipping the genders, but sadly, there's not very many male figures who would work well with Steph and Kara who would fill the Wonder Woman role.

But that'd make fans happy, and we can't have that.

Would it involve shipping?

It's possible.

Attached: cassstephlipstick.png (300x300, 96K)

>3 blondes
I meant Steph, Kara and Cassie there.

Such pure shipping?

I think it'd be a pretty interesting black label (I think that's their new elseworlds) if they decided to do a short duo series with the two.
probably call it something like "blackbat and spoiler" or something to that effect.

Of course I don't know if they're actually popular enough to warrant something like that, but it doesn't hurt to wish for it.

Cass and Steph are more popular than a lot of the shit DC shovels out, like continual Hawkman reboots or trying to make Cyborg stick for the fiftieth time. The only problem they have is that the higher-ups don't care about them.

Babs isn't doing significantly better. I personally wish DC would get out of its own ass and publish a Batgirl Inc or League of Batgirls and get all three fanbases.

I'm hoping that Cass being in the Birds of Prey movie will make DC finally have to do something serious with the character.

But they'll probably just put her on a team with Harley and I'll be sad.

We'll have to see. I was hoping that Young Justice cartoon would push Steph a bit more, but so far, just background. :(

Yeah, I feel kind of bad for Steph fans since they thought she would be a main character, and instead she seems to be just another very minor one.

She is great

Attached: BRE 23 cover.jpg (1041x1600, 546K)

For Batman & Robin Eternal I'd just put in #1-2, 6-7, and 13-14.

It's the only portions that are entertaining for Cass in that. Surprisingly I'd put #23 or #24 for Steph because her talking down to Crane then actually besting a few Orphans by herself was actually really damn good.

Wasn't there a story similar to that already? Or am i mis-remembering that?

There was a story in Future's End where Babs was a huge Bane-lite and had Cass, Steph, and Tiffany Fox as Batgirls.

Nice! Thanks!

aw yeah that must be it, thanks.

For Cass, yes, that's true, though you'd want to read 26 to find out how it ends.

I liked a lot of BRE, but for Steph, the best stuff is 2-3 (4 is horrible for her), and 23-25.

Emanuel Simeoni is a really great artist. Wish he got more high profile work.

same, it sucks he hasn't done anything for rebirth (or much of anything recently)

My favorite batgirl, her and Barbra as Oracle together was perfect.

These two are just adorable together.

god barbara was so good as oracle, shame she was set back. How is the current batgirl run?

1-24 were pretty limp. 25-present have been better in tone and characterization, but I think the writer has difficulty plotting so that Babs doesn't look kinda incompetent losing to the same guy until the final issue of the arc, where someone else kills him.

yes they are

hmm, alright. I guess i'll give 25-up a shot and see if its worth getting back into.

I warn you - I think 25 is really good, but it was dramatically destroyed in terms of future potential by the shit that's going on in Nightwing.

Nah, permanent gap since she had a kid
