user, this is written by Bendis, a man who peaked in popularity in the early/mid-00s and has coasted on the back of the fame and fanbase he gained at that time ever since. This is not what kids like. This is what DC thinks "core fans" would like. They are very wrong, but that's what they think.

The writers that are popular with teenagers are, like, Cates with his edginess and the various quirky writers like Zdarsky's comedy books the unfortunate thing there is that Zdarsky's comedy is terrible but his more serious drama books are actually extremely good.

You single out DC for some reason, but anyone with any experience reading comics understands that DC and Marvel are both guilty of severe continuity negligence. It's something that comes with the territory. That doesn't mean we can't get upset about it though. It's a very frustrating thing when a character you love stops acting like himself or herself. We often become emotionally invested in characters and events, and when these things are disregarded, we feel betrayed. But we know it will keep happening regardless. That's the nature of the beast.

That said, Bendis - more than any other comic writer - is the perpetrator of continuity negligence to such an extent, that he doesn't even adhere to his OWN continuity. He doesn't even adhere to his own continuity he established in the SAME ISSUE. He creates Mary Sues on such a level that even Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams would look at and go "Yikes!". His capacity for self-indulgence is unparalleled at any point in comics history.

Bendispeak actually works in street-level stuff. It doesn't work when you have Wolverine quipping like a schoolgirl and Batman monologuing for 3 pages.

His indie work he can set the rules himself. With established characters a lot of time people have other comics to compare to.

The original Pre-COIE Superwoman wasn't Lois. In fact, I don't think they ever gave her an identity. The one from JLA: Earth 2 was Lois.

Pre-Crisis, Superwoman was just an unnamed renegade Amazon. Post-Crisis, they made her an Amazon that took Lois identity. Either way, both were clear Wonder Woman counterparts.

Then you had the League of Two Worlds version which made her an evil Mary Marvel with other evil Marvel family members as underlings, and they had a separate character as evil Wonder Woman, but that's the only time she was associated with them (it's also the only time we got an Earth-3 full of super humans, rather than only the syndicate and a couple of others).
