Why does he work so well for spider noir?

Most of those direct to video movies he's not trying at all. He usually only tries if he actually likes the movie. Compare him in USS Indianapolis vs him in Mom & Dad or Mandy.

He does the weary old man thing really well. He also loves comics.

Really want him to be Mephisto.

He's a big ass comic book fan, so he's read and researched the shit, so he gets little things about the emotional tone right.

But he's a huge nerd, so he loves capeshit. He named his son Kal-El FFS.

I don't care if hes a massive coke addict.
I think hes a great actor, and a fun lunatic.
He did his time in drama club, Leaving Los Vegas was fantastic, Lord of War was poignant and convincing, and was a comedy darling in Raising Arizona.

He earned his acting chops and decided he wanted to do comedies. Whats wrong with that? Hes a good actor and fun to watch.

In fact, I think the only people who hate him are those who think he'd do better as a serious dramatic actor, and RESENT him for doing comedy, even though thats what makes him happy!

I mean, good for him! Hes gone on the record as having a drug habit which he has no control over, he has family problems, but somehow he still manages to make pretty good money!

He was once a very serious, dramatic actor, who studied method acting. He used to make films that were so compelling that he got snubbed at the oscars for talking about real controversies and things in life that mattered, instead of false liberal narratives and condescending non-profit charity cash grabs!

The guy had fucking indie cred, but he got so SICK of dealing with the hollywood community, he literally said, "Fuck this, I'm done with acting, the american people don't respect me, they don't respect talent, and they don't respect art!"

Cage is actually good at acting, the reason he is so over the top in some of his roles is because he likes some German impressionistic school of acting or something like that.

He decided if he wanted to help people, he'd make his OWN money, and give it to people who needed it. He donated to rehab clinics and helped others with their drug problems!

Now all he wants to do is make the world laugh and enjoy fun action movies, and people give him shit about being 'phony'. The guys legit.

Hes like fucking Jimmy Stewart, if you roasted him you'd start tearing up cause of how good a guy he is! I heard he once took a burnt out actor under his wing while they got clean, someone who he barely knew!

People complain about him being on roids, but both his father and his mother were scientists who participated in eugenics programs under east berlin before immigrating to austria, hed been on roids since he was a kid. Twins was originally a story about him trying to tell his life story, but he said when he read it out loud it sounded too ridiculous to sound true, plus, you know, he couldn't really emote all that well.

But i mean, just because your a bad actor doesn't mean your not enjoyable to watch on film. A lot of comedic actors couldn't act their way out of a paper bag but we enjoyed them anyway. Its like, so what if he can't act? The guy is just a joy to watch on the screen, the way he delivers those witty one liners, that goofy smile of his, the way hes so polite and naive..

but because when he was 17 and his father kicked him out of the house and he needed money to eat, he ended up borrowing some money from the wrong people and ended up getting fisted by some german dyke, he ends up on every vhs tape in every video rental store in germany that had a back curtain.

You look at him back then, you wouldn't even recognize him, he was skinny, nearly starving, all strung out on drugs, pale, sickly looking, I mean the guy was lucky to get out of that kind of scene alive.

Talk about turning his life around. Meeting that old lady, getting off of drugs, living under an assumed name, changing his identity, evading east berlin stazi, finally making it to america, becoming a fitness instructor, getting an audition in Hollywood, going on to become a famous, well paid actor..

Not sure if this is true, but I heard that he delivered his lines while wearing sunglasses to stay in character. Really shows how he did do his best with the role.
