Hi OP

HI user

Hello, Storyteller.

Hey, Storyteller, could you explain exactly why you hate the retcon of Carol powers actually coming from her mom? See, it's just that there are so few mother-daughter legacies in, well, fiction, that I wonder if this is perhaps looking a gift horse in the mouth.

I don't like "you're born super-special" in general, and "Car-Ell" was really fucking dumb.

Attached: GOv1-144.jpg (1280x1920, 1004K)

this is pretty slashy, ngl

Attached: GOv1-145.jpg (1280x1920, 1.16M)

Attached: GOv1-146.jpg (1280x1920, 1.16M)

Pun intended?

>See, it's just that there are so few mother-daughter legacies
Because it was retconned in. It isn't an organic mantle-passing.

I mean, technically speaking, most superheroes are "born special".

You're right that "Car-Ell" is just silly though.

yes

IDK, just, the feminist angle of Carol in particular and "bloodright and starlight" don't sit very well together for me, as opposed to "accident but going to make the most of it"

So the issue is basically that it is forced. Fair enough.

What have you read recently? I finished Justice League Task Force. I enjoyed it outside of the other JL crossover stories that took up a chunk of it.
Priest's dialogue was good when he was writing it, and it was neat to see Skartaris being used again.
The art was usually pretty good (better than some 90's titles), but it did have a rough final issue.
Triumph was a twat though, and that OC that Priest made then killed because he couldn't get another series greenlit was a waste.

Pretty much everything about Carol right now is forced; since I don't care about Carol I don't have any opinion on whether it's better or worse, but I understand how most comics fans' first instinct is to turn against it since it feels like they're being force fed something and being told to play along and pretend it's always been this way.

Planetoid and Planetoid Praxis.
I was just planning to skim it a bit and ended up reading the whole thing through. I've now ordered the TPBs.

ummm did any good comics come out today

I didn't read anything yet

Oh, AHOY! did indeed nab Second Coming, unsurprisingly

Attached: GOv1-153.jpg (1280x1920, 1.06M)

I get that Marvel wants to make Carol their mascot, and frankly, she does kinda make sense in a way. The problem is that, like all too many companies, they keep downplaying the traits that people like about the character in favor of making her "safe". Disney did it with Mickey, Sega did it with Sonic, and now Marvel is doing it with Carol. Like, she's a bit of a jerk, but that's her appeal. Sanitizing that is a bad idea.

Hawkman is still steadily "okay".

ewwww

Attached: GOv1-156.jpg (1280x1920, 967K)

You're right, but I did see this take the other day that was defending that shift in her portrayal because it allows her to be more "actively heroic".

Which was....sure something

Attached: GOv1-157.jpg (1280x1920, 612K)

Attached: GOv1-158.jpg (1280x1920, 663K)

Attached: GOv1-159.jpg (1280x1920, 482K)

Attached: GOv1-160.jpg (1280x1920, 629K)

Uhhhh

how about no

Attached: GOv1-161.jpg (1280x1920, 654K)

Attached: GOv1-162.jpg (1280x1920, 525K)

Attached: GOv1-163.jpg (1280x1920, 767K)

Attached: GOv1-164.jpg (1280x1920, 558K)

Attached: GOv1-165.jpg (1280x1920, 576K)

(fancy roses like this are a more modern creation)

Attached: GOv1-166.jpg (1280x1920, 567K)

... So I take it this person is unfamiliar with the concept of an antihero.

I meant what I said about Carol being a fine fit as the mascot, by the way. She is grouchy, rude, alcoholic, borderline fascist, and a bit warmongering sonetimes. She's also a genuine heroine who dutifully defends the innocent from the forces of evil with no expectation or even really want of reward. In theory, she perfectly embodies the company's ethos of heroes being flawed people who the reader relate to. Hence the name, Captain Marvel.

Shame nobody at Marvel seems to realize this, and just keep desperately trying to bill her as their Wondy equivalent without having anything resembling a real plan for her development as their flagship name. Morons.

Hey thread! I work weeknights now so I have no idea how often I can read along

I also didn’t read any comics today

I saw the Legion silhouettes in Superman, man that’s gonna hurt when Bendis Legion is confirmed

the Wonder Twins get a class trip to a Lexcorp prison/call center

that's great

Attached: GOv1-167.jpg (1280x1920, 733K)

I got no sleep so I'm kind of :|

Attached: GOv1-168.jpg (1280x1920, 598K)

Uncle Larry sure has some vibes

Attached: GOv1-169.jpg (1280x1920, 615K)

>is grouchy, rude, alcoholic, borderline fascist, and a bit warmongering sonetimes

I saw Live Kree or Die get pushed somewhere as post Cap reading and while I agree it’s solid comics it’s very funny to think about someone post movie reading that.

I wanna talk about how somehow Skrulls became the refugee alien race. I don’t even remember how the homeworld got destroyed, Annihilation?

There's currently a thread were someone is trying to say that Slade isn't inspired/a pastiche of Captain America and it's making my brain hurt that they so clearly ignore the sign

Attached: GOv1-170.jpg (1280x1920, 738K)

So, that teen Wondy book looks like it could be fun. I like that she has a pet cheetah. Cute.

>Legion silhouettes
... And so it begins.

noooooooooo

Attached: GOv1-173.jpg (1280x1920, 617K)

The worst part is one is clearly Gates

Attached: GOv1-174.jpg (1280x1920, 803K)

Goddamn

>teen Wondy book
Link? I didn't see that, sounds really neat

Attached: GOv1-175.jpg (1280x1920, 703K)

>I wanna talk about how somehow Skrulls became the refugee alien race
Presumably their shapeshifting ability makes it more dramatically convenient for them to be the underdogs. The Kree hunting them down and whatnot. Plus, I'm sure you can squeeze a metaphor about the superficiality of race at some point.

Attached: GOv1-176.jpg (1280x1920, 925K)

SKRULL KILL KREW reprint when

Attached: GOv1-177.jpg (1280x1920, 853K)

Attached: GOv1-178.jpg (1280x1920, 727K)

Hopefully never. What a dogshit comic.

>Saturn Girl already established
>Gates coming up
>two of my favorite Legionnaires in the blast zone
I fucking swear, Brian.

Imra is going to end up in another Jean Grey phase, and T'Julk is going to do his thing, but with Bendisspeak. Thanks, I hate it!

SO is that Marvel teaser Hickman X-Men, or what

Attached: GOv1-179.jpg (1280x1920, 790K)

Attached: GOv1-180.jpg (1280x1920, 800K)

Attached: GOv1-181.jpg (1280x1920, 749K)

Attached: GOv1-182.jpg (1280x1920, 672K)

>what if X-Men, but with infographs??

Attached: GOv1-183.jpg (1280x1920, 658K)

FUCK YOUR CHARTS, SCOTT

Attached: GOv1-184.jpg (1280x1920, 710K)

It's called 'Diana, Princess of the Amazons'. It's about 11 year old Diana growing up as the only kid on the island. Some shit about how she has no friends, so she decides to make one out of clay(hopefully Donna). Sounds interesting enough.

>the Secret Origin of Snowflame

Attached: GOv1-185.jpg (1280x1920, 799K)

>Hickman tries to make a chart out of the Summers bloodline
>kills himself after 2 minutes

Attached: GOv1-186.jpg (1280x1920, 686K)

BTW next storytime is late start Tuesday

yeah, it's a string of no days off

Attached: GOv1-187.jpg (1280x1920, 685K)

Attached: GOv1-188.jpg (1280x1920, 596K)

noooo, not the cue ball

Attached: GOv1-190.jpg (1280x1920, 688K)

Attached: GOv1-191.jpg (1280x1920, 577K)

I'm kind of dead and this material is too; I think I'm going to sod off early.

Do we want to change things up?

Attached: GOv1-192.jpg (1280x1920, 290K)

please lol

I'll take any and all suggestions, uploads as well

>Cut off from the rest of the world, Diana had an idyllic childhood on Themyscira. But now 11-years-old, she's beginning to feel more and more isolated. Though she has many 'aunties' and a loving mother, she is an only child. The only child, in fact

>Literally every other person on the island is an adult proficient in their trade and mighty in body, while she is gangly, sometimes clumsy, and not particularly proficient in anything. She's not Wonder Woman yet.

OK well that just sounds adorable

I'm reading on my phone but anything more fun, babysitting for the next few hours and bored to death

Thanks for posting as always, Storyteller.

One more thing about Carol. I hate that they made her new outfit blue. It's a really fool costume, but her signature colors have always been red, yellow, and black. Like, why? It pisses me off more than it should.

Standard coming of age stuff. I'm down for it.

I have always wanted kid adventures of Bruce and Diana and other heroes like they have with all those old Superboy stories

Hey OP. Missed last thread, still haven't gone through it.

Probably missed this thread too.

What are you talking about OP. Heres nothing remotely homoerotic about this.

Just finished Sleeping Giants yestersday. Solid enough novel but ended such that it was nakedly the first part of a series.

Being treated like such a prop, it's not hard to understand how she ended up a rape victim in an asylum.

Stop tellig horrible lies about nightmares you had about Bendis writing the Legion!

>I don’t even remember how the homeworld got destroyed
Galactus ate it, there's this great scene in Englehart's Silver Surfer where Kl'rt finds out and it's an absolute gutpunch.

Fuck
