What are some good South American comics? and artists?
Spic Comics
El Bumpo
Wasn't this published in Europe first? Although sure enough the artist is Argentinian, and Jodo... ehhhhh... I guess...
Well, in my opinion it fits there if the artists are any kind of Hispanic/Latinx
Really tragic what happened to the author.
a ver si hay un ctm aqui
Indeed, he and his family should have left the country when they could, but they were too devoted to their cause so it was kind of inevitable, i deeply admire the man for that.
Kaliman is seriously quite underrated
Alack Sinner, by Carlos Sampayo and Jose Antonio Munoz.
wena
Nice.
In my entire life i never got Condorito, i suppose it's a Chilean thing.
There is a great amount of Argentinian artists doing work for Italy and France that are great like Alcatena, Lucas Varela & Risso and there is some great writers like Agrimbau, Trillo, Mazzitelli etc
Son of the Gun.
Jodor may publish a lot of his books in europe, but this one is clearly set in Mexico (yeah, not south america but this draws influence from some stuff there I think...)
Spider-man.

Isn't Blacksad Spanish?
Shit, I just saw "spic" in the thread name, didn't bother to read the south-american part.
Spic is a slur for Latinos, not Spaniards
During the silver age tons of Spanish and south American artist used to draw comics for the USA and Britain, but they didn't got public credit for it due to how the system worked back then
It very much is. When Condorito used to be a Chilean comic, the entire cast was made out of racist stereotypes, including Jewish ones. But when a foreign company (Mexican, I believe) started to run the comic, long after the death of its creator (the comic used tons of artists who still had to sign with the name of the original creator, Pepo) all those characters had to be removed. They still kept the drunkard and the retard, though.
The absolute best is hidden and only known to old comic pros here.
It's agreed that Oesterheld (Eternauta) and Robin Wood (Nippur de Lagash, Dago, a bunch of stuff really popular in Italy) are the best mainstream authors of Argentina, and that the FIERRO magazine was the epicenter of the most experimental and personal works we had, included some that became so famous they get showed at schools together with the Eternauta.
There was even more underground stuff - paraguay was an experimental goldmine with a number , but good luck finding anything of it printed or scanned, much less scanlated.
I really oughta do some scanlations of this, but i doubt many people Yea Forums on want to read 60s and B&W comics.
Take that, Guernica!
I have never heard of something like this on marvel's side. Hell, right now the mayority of marvel artists are foreigners, and a large number of them latams.
Is buba comix good? I read some strips and were pretty good, the author doesn’t hide that he is a literal commie though.
pretty sure its the other way around.
Is part 2 any good?
>Spic (also known as spick) is an ethnic slur commonly used in the United States of America for Latin American people of mixed ancestry including Brazil.
this is great
Saw thread, entered to post this.
Trnslation?
>i doubt many people Yea Forums on want to read 60s and B&W comics
Shut your whore mouth and scanlate some shit.
I'll post whatever Hue comics I can remember.
Panel 1
"a can of beer, a Luger Mauser, greased"
Panel 2
"I accepted your life with Mary, with Ellen, with Blonda, with Penny"
Panel 3
"and now you leave me, you leave me, you leave me, you leave me"
Last Panel
"Oh, Boogie, you're a softie. You never could stand to see a woman cry"
Fierro was too pure to last imo. I got Eduardo Risso to sign one of them for me, it was awesome. I wish more mags dared to join together all those widly different authors AND granted equal space to newcomers and rookies.
It was at its peak on the 60s and 70s, and they did art for other companies, mostly.
Didn't know Raimi was a ghost writer for Condorito.
Quino in general.
Horacio Altuna Is my favorite argie artist. His "puertitas del señor López" Is really hillarious too.
The fat woman did not need to be drawn with that side boob.
López Is a brave man.
I really need to dig into the Paraguayan scene. Seems they really had it for sci fi
FIERRO lasted exactly what it should have lasted. It was opinionated and heavily political. But at least it has an actual thing to talk about. The dictatorship was a recurrent theme in most it's early issues.
The second FIERRO on the other hand sounded vapid every time they opened their mouth. No surprise it went down as soon as kirchnerist money run dry.
possibly for minor companies, I know pretty much everyone who worked at marvel editorial has been accounted for, ghost artists included.
old ladies have needs too
Altuna did lots of work for playboy magazine, he draws the best girls
A man of culture.
