give him a gun

The example that Superman represents is using your abilities as best as you can for the benefit of others.

The idea of being the best person YOU can be needs to be better touched on. That is what Superman should be inspiring.

We are not strong. We don't fly. We don't shoot lasers out of our eyes. We are not gods. But we can still do great things with what we CAN do. Why shouldn't we?

Wouldn't that be just super?

Attached: 1546788837969.jpg (474x606, 61K)

Marvel did it with Captain Marvel so just do that

Nah. Fuck. Let's just show that Superman lifting the Earth weight and being generally just ridiculously powerful. That's what people want. A man being SUPER! He's better than everyone else and that's why he's cool.

Attached: Blank+_7c5c7396fb85903fdeba5ba306354586.jpg (269x200, 14K)

Why does he need to be relatable?

He already is

Losers won't feel special about themselves

Does he need to be relatable? I root for Thor and the Ninja Turtles for example and they have nothing in common with me at all.

Or take away his gun and make he a shim

His new weakness is having a tiny penis

Make him a women and spend and decade of astroturfing to manipulate normies into thinking the character is cool?

He's not wrong. Man of Steel and Captain Marvel are very similar movies, with the only real difference being that Carol's apotheosis moment is an act of "defiance" rather than acquiescence.

Wasn't Henry Cavill's bulge to big and obscene

Show that he's at heart just a regular normal likable human guy in all the ways that matter. Show him having fun as a kid with his powers, show him actually having friends, show how great his parents are so people know why he is the way he is and why he wants to do what he does. Show that he likes being Superman, show that people aren't terrified of him because he actually likes interacting with them and showing them he's just a regular guy. Show that the world isn't a horrible, miserable place that might not be worth saving.

Basically the opposite of Snyder.

It just seems that way because of a lack of trunks.
Routh was the one with such a huge dick they had to CGI it smaller.

You cant, he's supposed to be someone you want to be, he's basically a plot device that represents a God like symbol of the American dream making him lack objectivity.

Give him a moustache that everyone says is ugly, but he kinda likes it, so he refuses to shave it off.

make him really fucking stressed over how people perceive him and exploit him politically also clip his wings so he cant go flying off into space so he is forced to rely on human innovation but keep it so he can still fly to some degree.

>the only real difference
There's plenty of other differences

but he looks great with a mustache

Attached: 1548885267787.gif (540x280, 2.44M)

This. I have his symbol tatted on my body for when I'm being a shithead

make him a good guy like in the old comics or something along the lines of superman TAS

Give him a son

Attached: 56FC53DB-6B72-46FD-A0B5-AF11B340F5C6.jpg (685x1031, 217K)

Shut the fuck up, casual

Casuals, the lot of you

Make him the most powerful character ever, even more powerful than actual godlike entities despite being an random alien, and make everything revolve around him. He's the first superhero ever and everyone else were inspired by him. Every man wants to be him and every woman wants to be with him. They also can't do anything without him teaching them and leading them. Make him be literally perfect and the only flaw he should have is maybe if he's too perfect, but then we learn that he's just perfect enough, but still down-to-earth, which only makes him more perfect than the most perfect being, which is why he defeats gods.

Unironically that's one of the reasons why he's cool, he's strong but he never hurt the innocent and try his best to not hurt his enemies, he's a gentle giant instead of a overpowered brute like Hulk or Thor.

Yeah. Superman's much better than all the Marvel's heroes.

He was, but most people now a days focus only on the "Super" and put the "Man" on the back burner.

Maybe we need more cross promotion with the US army.

Have him overcome his other weakness.

that or give him a progression to his powers rather than having him be outright broken right off the bat

Make him a huge, outspoken pervert. For example, he saves a woman and stares at her breasts commenting "Wow, I want those Oompa Loompas in my Willy Wonka Factory!"

He mentions constantly about jacking to his current situation later and about how he spies on everyone too while pleasuring himself.

And everyone puts up with it because he still saves the world every day.

not being an incel

I always hear people say that Superman is not relatable, that he is to powerfull,he is not relevant.
And those same people most of the time those people consider Batman to be cool because he is realistic
I tell you,in reality i think Superman is more realistic than Batman
Batman is a billionare with family issues,a broken psych,a moral code and martial arts training, his quest is noble but he himself is unreachable
Nobody can be Batman,at least not for how many years Bruce Wayne has been.
But you always can be Superman, you don't need the powers, the cape or the undies, you just need to stand a hand dor rhose in need, care for rhe ill, help people who lost everything,be a good friend, that's what Superman is really...
A icon to admire, and a Man to follow in his footsteps
No matter how hard it gets Anons, never forget to look up at the sky...

Attached: thumbbig-402500.png (400x225, 159K)

make him an autistic rich faggot to self-insert on like Batman

Brei Larson is an insufferable cunt, and Miss Marvel is the Roman Reigns of the MCU.

Humanize him like BvS did.

The biggest difference is that Superman in Man of Steel does have flaws and more than one facial expression.

clearly Op is a psychopath autismo that doesn't understand altruism is one of humanities defining features.

maybe people are attracted to goodness because they want to be good.

go play with your deadpool toys edgelord

Attached: getyourshittogetherop.jpg (948x1308, 48K)

Thebig difference was ten years of sunk cost fallacy forcing millions of miserable people into the theaters

>make everything like an unbelievable cartoon
Superman fans logic.

Clark is a wholesome farm boy who loves his parents and Christmas.

You always put his character before his powerset.

Attached: justice-league-christmas-3.jpg (639x366, 66K)

Good bait.

>Roman Reigns has existed as long as Captain Marvel

literal retard

>But you always can be Superman
No, you can't. You can be Clark Kent, though, but even DC seems to hate Clark Kent and see that side of the character as the main thing holding him back. Nobody can be Superman. Specially because they always make a point of showing that Superman is special. Even when it comes to being human they stress that Superman is more human than any human because he's just that good and special.

>how do you make Superman relatable?
Make the audience less sociopathic.

Gods and Monsters

I don't see the problem in making Superman and the world he lives in more believable. It actually makes the character more relatable. Intolerance is a common thing in this world, different people tend to isolate themselves at young age, like Clank did in Man of Steel. Self-doubt is a normal thing.
Also, at the end of BvS, despite all his suffering, he decided the world is worth saving.

Make him crave cock

>believing someone can be a good person and that the world isn't a miserable palce is like an unbelievable cartoon to Snyderfags
Edgy.

Tone down his powers.
Make him struggle
Show that for how powerful he is, he's still a man and has the same triumphs and tribulations as the rest of humankind.
Show that all that is good and right in him comes from his good salt of the earth family and good stable loving community and how he sees the entire world the same as his tiny town in kansas.
The women on a small island are his neighbors, the people under the sea are his neighbors, that asshole darkseid is his neighbor
Etc etc
Show him using his power as golden age superman tier and no more when he first shows up and only slowly show him growing more powerful till he's got the same powers as he does now

Not pulling planets by a chain and hurling the moon out of orbit with a stray sneeze. But pretty damned unbelievably powerful. But only ONLY when plot demands and he does it at great cost to himself.

Oh and shit like when he rewound the world for lois? That shit is a no no.

People always talk about Nietzsche/the ubermensch with Superman. That's old hat. What I'd like to see is a comic where Clark Kent in his early career as Superman wrestles with superheroing through the Nietzschean Three Metamorphoses.

You know, going through a philosophical struggle or something.
>He first tries his best to do as much as he can, all around the world, and tries to learn as much as he can about how to end sweeping global problems.
>As he does so goes through a phase where he takes a long, hard think about going full Injustice, only realizing that to do so is futile when he confronts a supervillain that tries to do so.
>He actually reaches the third stage instead though, and realizes that to be a positive force and to do good for its own sake is the highest calling of all.

THIS

Attached: 8353eb6ea75b42ff021082c33cd7b350.jpg (472x646, 59K)

But Clank in Snyder movies is a good person, as a kid he was already helping other people, he even saved his school bully from drowning. And the world is portrayed as a realistic place, there as much good people as bad people, you can't pretend everything are flowers. A lot of people will hate you for trivial reasons.

This kind of thinking implies that there aren't good people in the actual real life world who aren't good and positive and see the world as a good place. You do know that not everyone is a miserable Randian teen right? Have you really never met anyone in your life who despite shitty things happening to them remained a good, positive person? Plus please point out where I said he must be happy and bright all the time and never question or doubt anything?
>at the end of BvS, despite all his suffering, he decided the world is worth saving.
He decided that Lois aka 'his world' is worth saving. All he cares about is Martha and Lois, which is why Lois dying is all it took to turn him into a dictator in Snyder's world.

Attached: Superman Vol 3 39.jpg (800x490, 89K)

There's more to being a good person than saving people because you were destined to. Name a single friend Clark had until Lois? Name a single time he had fun with his powers? Name a single time his parents showed him how to be a good person?
>he even saved his school bully from drowning
The fact that Superman not letting a kid drown because he was mean to him is praise worthy (and literally the only example you can give) is very telling, both of the movie and your own personal mindset.
>And the world is portrayed as a realistic place, there as much good people as bad people
There objectively isn't though. 99.99% of people are good. You do know that this is the safest time to be alive in all of human history right? Crime rates are at an all time low.
>A lot of people will hate you for trivial reasons.
And most people won't. If you think that showing the world as a mostly miserable place filled with hate filled people is """realistic""" then like Snyder you're just an edgy teen.

This is really the answer to all life's questions

DC hasn't been making movies for 10 ye- ooooooh

Superman has the biggest cock in the league though. Just make him autistic

He's a guy from Kansas. Stop having him act like an alien. He's plenty relatable. Moreso than Batman when written right.
I mean, how often does the average person engage in physical combat? Besides when they're fighting, Clark is way more normal than Bruce Wayne.

This is how a real kid would act if they discover they had super powers. He'd think it was awesome.

Attached: SupermanAmericanAlien6.jpg (1988x3056, 938K)

That's not that big a difference. It took me a second to figure out which one you were talking about.

>Superman has the biggest cock in the league though.
Proof

Neuter his powers. He's strong, but not the strongest. He's fast, but not the fastest. He can fly, but not as far/fast/agile as others.

And so on.

>how do you make Superman relatable?
You don't, he doesn't need to be relatable or even likeable. What he needs to be is compelling, and this applies to any character.

Free Ideas

Make him look like this ALL MIGHT
Super powerful and always with a smile on his face

Second
Make new villains more powerful than Super

Third
Make a retcon of Superman powers
Return the powers of Superman Pre-Crisis

Attached: EHrHQKL.jpg (2048x2048, 624K)

I've read "Superheroes and Philosophy" and the chapter about Superman made me understand what his character is all about. He's willing to spend most of his time saving people, helping others and making anythng he can to improve people's life; in other words, he cares more about others than himself. He's the personification of altruism, the best of us and he does that just for the sake of good - and to feel accepted in our society as well.

I'm pretty sure people related to him way more back in the day. Maybe he was the most loved superhero of all. The problem is: our society has changed and so did some of our values. People just got tired of that good samaritan and his sacred moral code that showed them how far they have fell into the abyss. Besides that, superman is a character made to teach children to be good and always care about his fellows. When you are adult and has already taste the sour taste of reality, it gets harder to actually care on people next to you or even sympathize with their problems to help them.

He already is you dumbass Yea Forums normalfag

>>Make new villains more powerful than Super
This is always terrible, powerlevel wanking is always retarded.

Aren't a lot of villains more powerful than him already anyways

I don't know anymore dude, I look away for 5 seconds and Supes is back to lifting 60 quintillion tons with his dick again.

Well, all the magical ones are.

But the moment someone throws a green rock or waves a wand around that dick...

Based and gaypilled

Attached: SuperBat.png (800x1141, 1.61M)

>pic unrelated

I like Silver Surfer more due to pacifism but most writters forget about that so he simply punch people in the face instead of simply trying to not hurt anyone.

You literally missed the point of BvS, but that was obvious when you called Superman a Radian teen.

Superman isn't relatable he's exemplary.

Lana. Pete. Priest. Several during the flashbacks.

>and the chapter about Superman made me understand what his character is all about. He's willing to spend most of his time saving people, helping others and making anythng he can to improve people's life; in other words, he cares more about others than himself. He's the personification of altruism,
That's Batman.

He's just a guy from Kansas, trying to do the right thing.

Fucking edgy "I know how to write" relatable shit spewed everywhere. Good characters do not need to be "relatable" anons

__________this__________

Attached: 1551491349247.jpg (805x590, 103K)

I find him relatable...but that's probably why I'm so socially awkward.

>I'm pretty sure people related to him way more back in the day. Maybe he was the most loved superhero of all. The problem is: our society has changed and so did some of our values. People just got tired of that good samaritan and his sacred moral code that showed them how far they have fell into the abyss.
Stop with this bullshit of blaming the world for Superman waning popular. The blame is not on people, but DC. DC itself lost the idea of what made the character appealing.

Like you said, he was popular once and that was when he got introduced. How was the character back then? Well, he was a man who was powerful, but not so ludicrously powerful, and he used that power to hunt criminals, wife beaters, and crooked politicians. He'd flex his muscles, threaten them into doing what is right, and scared they'd complain. Because otherwise this man would cripple them for life. People loved Superman because they felt vindicated by him and longed for a reality where such a man could exist.

Even later on when DC started to portray him as a god-like being and the comics veered more into slice-of-life type of stories, Superman still had an appeal as the exotic and exaggerated tale of a man living normal situations of the daily life, but scaled up to 11 for comedic effect. Showing us that even a god of a man had to deal with the same type of bullshit as us.

But over the years lost itself in pointless self-wank about how great their character is and honestly nobody, but the most fervent fan of Superman wants to see constant tributes to a comic-book character. So that's why most normies now think Superman is boring or overindulgent with powerwanking. Even Batman is going the same way, with DC being more into doing misery porn and powerwanking with the character, and really who the fuck wants to feel pity for a comic book character?

>Lana. Pete.
Please explain how they were friends. Is Lana even named in the movie?
>Priest
Kek. Really? That's the best example of a friend you could come up with?
>Several during the flashbacks.
Should be easy for you to name several of them then.

I was calling you a Randian teen for thinking the world is some horrible place.

You did not understand?
I ask for a retcon for that old Superman able to move planets
This Superman would easily win Doomsday
So new villains would be interesting
That's what makes Dragonball relevant today
Superman and the DC trinity just stopped in time
And Superman for today's kids are All Might and One Punch Man

Dragonball is literally the worst possible version of powerlevel wank that's ever existed.

She's much better than Superman, but she's still pretty boring.

He could lift a heavy car.

Attached: SF1.jpg (664x1030, 163K)

wasn't he made for power fantasy? why are they trying to make him relatable. Just make him a guy that looks cool who solves problems

You're ignoring that what makes All-Mighty interesting is that he's normally a skinny, frail guy who almost have no powers left to transform himself into a muscled, powerful hero and is trying everything he can to keep the farce going until he can find a disciple because he knows that people has him as a symbol and they need that symbol. If everything was fine with All-Mighty and he could transform into the muscled, powerful hero any time without problems he wouldn't be as compelling as he is.

We care because we can see how much he's struggling, the costs he has been enduring, and how desperate he is getting despite never losing hope of backing down knowing full well everything could go wrong at any moment.

give him the miles morales treatment

>That's what makes Dragonball relevant today
Dragon Ball is only relevant to nostalgia fags.

make him younger and give him more powers?

black Superman didn't fix anything, the problem is at the core of the character.

Superman has a shit rogues gallery. Lex is the best one by a wide margin and he's ascended past just being Superman's arch.

look at the 90s comics where he hung out with guys like bibbo and did goofy stuff. he's superman. he shouldn't be all neurotic

>all these powerlevelfags who've clearly never read a Superman story in their lives
For fucks sake a good Superman story, or a story about any character for that matter, has absolutely nothing to do with how strong someone is or how many powers they have. It's all character and plot based.

Superman is le strong guy who is an alien

He is also "a boyscout/Methodist" so he's supposed to be like a young Hank Hill after Hank was humbled by losing that football game but before his marriage to Peggy sucked all the fun out of him.

So the problem is that Hank Hill is relatable only in a funny way and superman isn't supposed to be funny.

What’s some good superman stories to get me to like supes other than all star?

The problem is that MANY Superman stories is about how strong and great he is. Before you'd have some Clark Kent moments to balance all the dick sucking, but modern comics now is all about superheroics so the dick-sucking never stops.

It's the same with Batman, but in a different length. MANY of Batman comics is about how miserable and kick-ass he is, without any Bruce Wayne moments to balance all the pity-partying by adding a bit of levity to the character. So we're left with endlessly stream of misery porn and Batman beating random thugs.

It gets tiring after awhile.

>superman isn't supposed to be funny.
Why not? Superman can be pretty funny. Not like "haha look at this funny cartoon" but in a realistic way that actual people are funny.

DC will never portray Superman as a joke character, because they're already paranoid about him being seen as lame. You'll never see a movie like Batman Lego, for example, where the movie just pokes fun on the character, but starring Superman.

Kelley's run, John's run, Morrison's run, Tomasi's run. Superman for all Seasons, American Alien, Secret Identity, Birthright, Secret Origins.

He doesn't need to be "a joke character" to be funny. He can just be a genuinely funny and charming person.

Not that user but he never said to portray him as a joke. In fact he specifically said funny like a real person can be funny.

I’ll give American alien a read, just finished superstar and first thinder

Why should you?

Only Morrison's run, For All seasons, Secret Identity are the good stories from those. Instead read McClouds' Superman: Strength and Superman Adventures, Moore's for the man who has everything, Whatever happened to the man of tomorrow and Supreme, Millar's Superman Adventures and Superman for the animals, Mastermen issue from Morrison's Multiversity, collections from the 50s and 60s.

How can you not like Kelley's and John's Superman stuff?

You don't.
You can make Clark Kent relatable really easily.
