Akira and old stuff like Popeye
Does rotoscoping count?
that scene in the raggety ann and andy movie
you know the one
Anything of cyber 8
He literally created a animation genre
Rotoscoping always looks worse than competent handmade animation.
The one with the living pudding guy?
I still maintain that Red Line is probably one of the best animated things ever made
Except for rigid objects, then it's the opposite.
The Tale of Princess Kaguya.
not THE best but I got a goof troop clip recommended to me and this moment really stuck out youtube.com
no the tickling fetish scene of course
saving this image for when Sora gets announced over Erdrick
Definitely the new Spider-Man movie if we're talking 3D animation. I don't think even the east has topped this recently, though admittedly I haven't been keeping up.
Maybe not the best, but I love Frollo's death and the scene leading up to it in Hunchback of Notre Dame, i always loved how naturally his hair moved in the wind along with the power in his swings
jesus christ what am I watching
Gotta go with the monitor room scene at the end of Feat of Clay
Akira, Superman, Princess Mononoke, Betty Boop, or Popeye.
So basically works by Fleischer studios in the west or Studio Ghibli in the east.
I'll have to think about it, but I can say for sure that it was japanese.
cringe
popeye meets sindbad has some of the best animation in my book.
the backgrounds are great too.
Redline is the shit. Too bad most people won't ever fucking see it.
>try to show it to normalfag friend who loves DBZ
>he sits on his phone the entire time bitching about how its terrible
>ask him why, he just keeps bitching about nothing
>call him out for sittin on his phone like a bitch not even trying to enjoy it and he takes the movie out and throws it at me
This reminds me. What would be a good animation litmus test for your friends?
PokeAwesome
Had a similar situation with a pal of mine. Trying to watch a movie I'm sure he'd like, but he's on his phone or making stupid jokes and not paying attention. Towards the end of it I got tired of it and decided to pin him down and wrap my lips around his cock.
The chase scene in Thief And The Cobbler.
Jin Roh
This, only that whole war machine sequence.
This scene from Ernest and Celestine is wonderful.
youtube.com
aachi and ssipak
Jin Roh is beautifully animated, but the sound design is arguably more impressive.
I'd be lying if I said it was the best I've ever seen, but it is pretty good.
Beside old cartoons that were made a gorrillion years ago. Is there any half way decent animated modern cartoon?
Motorcity was the last one that really impressed me. It was consistent high quality on a dead animation program (Flash)
see , unless you mean tv cartoons. The Paul Rudish Mickey Mouse cartoons and DC Super Hero Girls are decent enough to not make me vomit.
I am asking more about western cartoon
How was it that Winsor McCay was able to make better animation over a hundred years ago?
By himself!
>Not just posting an image of the character from Xenoverse 2 literally named Maniga
Proof that good comedy doesn't require dialog
Akira, no question.
Lastman had some pretty neat animation.
Probably something from Millennium Actress
>Xenoverse
>people forget stop motion animation
Coraline and Mary & Max. The latter isn't quite as elaborate (for the most part), but it's so fluid
Unironically the second season opening of W.I.T.C.H. - best 1 minute of Western animation.
>but muh smoothness
Animation isn't all about framerate, you retards.
>I AM THE GREAT MIGHTY POO
>Good taste.
Anything by Satoshi Kon imo
Based Disney
It's not the best animation ever, but the Transformers movie has a lot of beautiful moments. The gap between it and the TV series is fucking monolithic.
Remastered workprint of the The Thief and the Cobbler. The rotating shot of the city at the beginning looked better in that screening that it has on any other version I've seen.
love it
I think technically Thief and the Cobbler is just insane for the sheer amount of work that it took to make, but it really depends
This scene in Zootopia is great
youtube.com
Fantasia 2000 has some amazing stuff
youtube.com
youtube.com
Ponyo and tons of Miyazaki stuff has so much artistic value I'm not even gonna bother
sakugabooru.com
The scene in GITS where she tries to pull the tank open
youtube.com
The boat part in Kubo
youtube.com
Pretty much all of Akira
There's just so much beautiful animation around.
I think wakfu has some pretty decent moments
youtube.com
shit, that made me sad.
I read somewhere that producers ACTUALLY tell the animators to animate like shit for some godforsaken reason
