What did you all think of the reboot?

Attached: Transformers 001-028.jpg (1987x3056, 1.82M)

So I haven't read Transformers comics in years, figured I'd check this out. Quick thoughts:

>The art seems kinda off, something about it is just very iffy and unnatural
>The bit between Optimus and Megatron works really well, but his friendship with Ironhide is the highlight of the book in terms of top-quality dialogue
>I have no idea who Windblade is, but they look and act like someone's Sonic OC, not a good first impression

This is pretty gay, but I'll give the reboot the benefit of the doubt that it won't go full throttle into LGBTQ politics like the previous continuity did. Dropping it at the first WOKE monologue about the fluidity of gender, though.

Attached: IDW Transformers comics in a nutshell.png (600x385, 446K)

>I have no idea who Windblade is, but they look and act like someone's Sonic OC, not a good first impression
Wingblade is worse than that, she's a fan-poll OC that has been shoved into every continuity ever since she was created. And I do mean everything.

Windblade is everything people accused Drift of being, only she gets a free pass because "girl".

Some of the art looks like it's echoing the new TV show, I think, so it definitely looks weird. Sorta blocky with overdefined lines, I guess.

Windblade's newish. Hasbro had a vote for a design a few years ago, she won. People pitched shitfits over a female transformer because Transformers fans.

Her characterization is generally wonky because she doesn't have thirty years of characterization to lean on or 'subvert' like everyone else does. Her series had cute art, though.

>Orion Pax just looks like Optimus despite literal years of material to go off of

I'm not even into Transformers that much but this is getting to me way too hard

I'm already out

>More G1 pandering
Yawn

Slow start but not bad. The issue itself isn't all that interesting except for the world building but the ending is a good hook.

>killing Brainstorm already

Fuck you. But at least its early, so they have time to find some way to revive him.

Is he even dead? Cybertronians go grey all over when they die, and he's still blue and yellow.

>Cybertronians go grey all over when they die

Not in every continuity. Hell, in the previous IDW comics, they retained their color after death.

Poor start desu, between the lackluster art and uninteresting dialogue I am unimpressed. World building looks somewhat interesting, I always like when TF writers try to do something new like what they're doing with the origins of the Decepticons here.

It varies. Even IDW didn't always have it happen instantly.

Anyway, I'm IDW savvy enough to know it'll take a year before the book gets interesting, so no point in judging it now.

Shut up, Boco.

Fuck off from this thread

One of the chief complaints about IDW Transformers is that it had gotten so mired in DEEPEST LORE and FICTIONAL POLITICS that it became nothing but talking (and sometimes QUIPPING!) and no action. A dozen issues would go by without a single Transformer actually TRANSFORMING because all they were doing was talking talking talking.

First issue of the rebooted Transformers continuity is nothing but talking talking talking. There was a time when Transformers ripped off Star Wars. Now it's ripping off Star Trek. That's even worse.

The art would be ok if they didnt rotoscope the toys so heavily. Looks like the same artist as several of the old comics

Slow start, no memorable dialogue, Optimus and Megatron are too bulky and awkward looking.

If you're going to introduce a new political faction, laying out their ideology, or what they claim at least, is generally one of the first things to do.

Yes sir...

>If you're going to introduce a new political faction, laying out their ideology, or what they claim at least, is generally one of the first things to do.
Or maybe Transformers comics need less political bullshit in general?

You need something for them to fight over, or else we're simply back at the period of cartoonish villains who're evil for the sake of being evil.

I'm guessing the artist is fine enough, just that they're still not used to drawing Transformers yet. Shame that they couldn't get the people on covers to pencil the first issue.

And yeah, Windblade's design didn't give off a good impression when she was first revealed. Her character in itself isn't bad, depending on the continuity, so hopefully her characterization here is just fine.

That's the only time transformers was good before we got gay tranny robots or worse furries

She's been scrutinized since she first appeared. There was never a free pass.

>implying Trek hasn't always been superior to Wars

I mean, I get the need for depth regarding motivation and a functional storytelling landscape... But this issue was really boring.

Aw man. I don't know what his characterization is supposed to be but the figure is pretty. Weak.

>>implying Trek hasn't always been superior to Wars

I agree, dude. The JJ Abrams Star Trek movies are fucking awesome. I loved the part where San Francisco exploded.

Still better than the sequel movies

Oh, I won't argue with that. Part of my problem is that while the whole Ascenticon thing is potentially interesting, we don't know anything about them. This entire issue, nothing happens until that last panel.

Even in a series focused ENTIRELY on politics, you need something to happen. Something to start drama. This has... Two friends who are grumpy at each other.

Fan favorite grumpy-yet-quippy mad scientist.

That's IDW for you. Slow burns. At least this time there was no issue #0.

>JJ Abrams Star Trek
This is bait

Why is prime called Orion pax yet clearly optimus?

Why do they have wheels when they're not human altmodes yet?

Why does Windblade still exist holy shit.

I don't like how Orion Pax is some kind of security officer instead of a dockworker of a clerk.

Eh, Orion/Optimus has been a dockworker, a clerk, a librarian, a gladiator, a security officer...

Him being a senator in this continuity isn't a big deal.

>Orion is older than Megatron

Well fuck you too, IDW.

Windblade exists be a use she is hot and you need to have some kind of robo tiddies to wank to

God damn it
F

It merely exists, the first run took awhile to get going so I'm not worried

Attached: 1549356332616.jpg (616x454, 217K)

It feels slow, but glad to finally be able to catch the start to something for once.

>Why is prime called Orion pax yet clearly optimus?

Gotta pimp those toys.

Well it's setting him up to be wrong about things.

Optimus should be a civilian working man, not a politician

I like Optimus and Ironhide being old bros.

I do like the librarian origin though

I like the idea of Orion being a well read nerd that gets the power to put his ideals into action

A Librarian is still a civilian working class man, it's just a civil servant angle.

Are they going to have multiple series running at once?

Unless you count the Ghostbusters crossover in June, no.

fuck

So what is the current ruling society of Cybertron, why is Megatron feeling oppressed and what are his ideas?
I'm guessing this before his decent into full blown villainy?

no he's dead.

the solicitations confirm there's a murder in the first episode.

a bit disappointing Brainstorm was the murder victim ngl. Least they could've done was show him off a bit before his death rather than reveal him bam dead!

Windblade is a new character who is hated only for not being from the 80's. She was created to be a main character and represent the female characters. She is one of the best-written characters in Transformers

Alt Mode Special 8 – Brian Ruckley Interview Transcript

transmissionspodcast.com/2019/03/alt-mode-special-8-brian-ruckley-transcript/

We don't know yet. But yeah, its almost a guarantee it leads to him becoming a villain.

this is gonna be bi-monthly instead which is a lot better if you ask me.

so in a year you'd have 24 issues which is good since waiting 2 or so years for a "season" of a comic was too much of a wait.

I think you mean bi-weekly.

Bi-monthly is once every two months.

Prime and Megatron look WAAAY too much like the toys
Also, kind of miffed Orion just looks like Prime. No difference or anything. Most media they at least try and make them look different to show Orion's growth into Optimus

This is a fine start. Nothing too exciting but nothing was bad either. Also the ending has me intrigued. Cliffjumper, you finally managed to not be the first bot killed in the series.

He's totally standing on a Titan's head.
One of the first lemons I read when I first got online (1997ish) was Transformers related. Boy was I surprised when Hotrod got busy with a fembot.

Windblade is the franchise's 30th anniversary celebration character. She was created to be the new addition to the regular line up. That, along with her aspects being voted on by the fans, is her entire point. She's not going away any time soon. Get used to it.

Many of the comic's designs are based on the current toyline. We've known about this for ages and it's not a new thing to happen in Transformers comics by any stretch.

>A dozen issues would go by without a single Transformer actually TRANSFORMING
Blatantly false.

Why do you assume aliens can't have wheels?

Jesus Christ, it's just the first issue, you'll learn more as the series continues.

Is Rubble supposed to be a chick?

Fucking christ, user, it's even bolded.

Attached: Capture.png (348x455, 285K)

He's just a pretty young man, user.

>Many of the comic's designs are based on the current toyline. We've known about this for ages
In fact, it was because of the covers of this comic that we knew about this toy long before it was officially announced.

Attached: WFC-Siege-WFC-S40-Leader-Class-Galaxy-Upgrade-Optimus-Prime.jpg (2191x1387, 476K)

nope it also means twice a month.

bi-weekly sounds more like twice a week.

>first issue ends on a 'le shock value' cliffhanger

off to a good start here. learning from past mistakes fo sure.

No user, bi-monthly means every 2 months. Semimonthly means twice a month.

Attached: Untitled.png (1202x871, 170K)

Nah, I was gonna be a little shit and copy/paste the dictionary definitions, but they back him up. It's an either-or thing.

Granted, I've never heard bi-weekly and bi-monthly to mean twice in a period of time, so it's still fucking weird, but there's precedence.

next issue is gonna be in 2 weeks from now.

either way i'm happy, it was the thing i hated with the old continuity, now hopefully no delays this time and we'll be good.

I know this is bait but the fuck, I want to vent about this now so I can put it to rest for this new run.
>Windblade is a new character who is hated only for not being from the 80's
Bull fucking shit. Characters like Bulkhead, Knockout, Lockdown, are widely liked. Some like Nautica, Drift (post MTMTE) Velocity aren't as beloved, but they are still liked and rarely hated.
People tend to dislike Wingblade for two reasons: They either don't find her character interesting or dislike how she's shoehorned in a lot of media. I find that there are cases where she's a somewhat interesting character, those being her relationship with the Titans. The rest as a politician or as a warrior fall flat because she brings nothing as interesting to the table. Plus her character across media is inconsistent as is because even the writers don't know what her main trait should be. Let her have some kind of unique hook that justifies her existence.

It also can't hurt to change her design. Despite appearing in a slew of differently styled media she always manages to remain the same look. I get it, she's a geisha robot girl, but you can a least play around with that visual concept.

>It also can't hurt to change her design. Despite appearing in a slew of differently styled media she always manages to remain the same look. I get it, she's a geisha robot girl, but you can a least play around with that visual concept.

I'd like to see her more as a knight like based on one of the design concepts.

Changing her design would go against her entire reason for existing in the first place.

i mean, there should be some varations at the least.

cause eventually for most fans, you buy 1 Windblade, you practically own them all.

Tumblr's freaking out because killing Brainstorm means they're killing someone who was gay once in another universe and as someone who uses Tumblr it's fucking embarrassing to watch.

I'm more annoyed they killed off a character who i didn't even consider to think of for the reboot and who could've been a fun addition to the early principle cast.

How? If you're arguing from the stance of "the fans made her", the fans voted for a female autobot plane. That's it. The designer decided on the look. I personally don't like the design they settled on, but the shrine maiden thing as an idea could be neat.

>People tend to dislike Wingblade for two reasons: They either don't find her character interesting or dislike how she's shoehorned in a lot of media.
Windblade feels like circa 2016 Harley Quinn. They are putting her in absolutely fucking everything and giving her major, pivotal roles to force her on the audience as being extremely important. All that forcing is doing is making her obnoxious, not popular. Also, "extremely competent and can do everything herself but also totally a team player" and "a super skilled warrior but gentle and kind" and "has no flaws to speak of except she cares TOO MUCH about her friends" are not personality types. Or at least they aren't compelling ones. Every writer walks on eggshells with Windblade because they're afraid that if they make her vulnerable or give her a real shortcoming they'll upset certain segments of the internet.

>If you're arguing from the stance of "the fans made her", the fans voted for a female autobot plane. That's it.
Nope:

>Windblade is the first "officially fan-created" Transformer ever, the culmination of Hasbro's "Fan Built Bot" initiative program. Two polls on Hasbro's official website allowed fans to determine her character and physical traits (well, most of her traits - her Japanese motifs weren't an option in the poll and seem to be the work of the design team).

>From April 18th to May 5th, 2013, fans decided her:
faction (Autobot over Decepticon)
alternate mode (jet over car, truck, tank, spaceship, terran beast [land], avian beast [airborne], helicopter, motorcycle, and construction)
signature weapon (sword over blaster cannon, flame thrower, mace, spear/harpoon, morning star, Cybertronian taser, nunchucks, crossbow, and long-range blaster)
color scheme (red & black over green & gold, blue & silver, orange & white, or purple & bronze)
personality (valiant over sneaky, hotshot, secretive, wild man, and grumpy)

>From May 10th to May 17th, fans voted:
name (Windblade over Autobot Eclipse, Charon, Centuritron, Cashtron, Autobot Wraith)
gender (female over male)
origin (from Kaon over Iacon, Altihex, Kalis, and Praxus)
specialty (telepath over combat medic, bodyguard, recon, and close combat specialist).

>Some of the concepts that fans voted for were tweaked or outright dropped when Windblade made her official debut. Rather than hailing from Kaon, she originated on the planet Caminus. Instead of being broadly telepathic, Windblade's job was being a cityspeaker for Metroplex.

>Every writer walks on eggshells with Windblade because they're afraid that if they make her vulnerable or give her a real shortcoming they'll upset certain segments of the internet.

except in Combiner Wars where she's an edgy piece of shit.

Attached: windblade cw.jpg (299x168, 8K)

It's not just "the fans made her", it's "the fans made her in celebration of the franchise lasting 30 continuous years"

Goddamn, it's the same problem Miles Morales has. He's being pushed in everything Spider-Man but he's so fucking boring. His only weakness "IS THAT HE'S JUST TOO NICE!!!" And they will never give him a genuine flaw to make him feel like a person because they don't want someone at Vox.com to call them a racist.

>>Some of the concepts that fans voted for were tweaked or outright dropped when Windblade made her official debut. Rather than hailing from Kaon, she originated on the planet Caminus. Instead of being broadly telepathic, Windblade's job was being a cityspeaker for Metroplex.

i mean....blame the early IDW continuity baggage for making her hail from a different planet

though i liked Caminus and wished it'd get explored more. I was thinking it could've easily been Space Japan. Like a mix of San Franceskyo from Big Hero 6 or the world of Blade Runner.

Imagine not knowing that comic characters will just come back if they're popular/an author likes them enough, especially a character who does lots of Mad Science. Also literally everybody in Cybertronian society is probably fairly gay as they're mostly dudes.

Brainstorm is deader than dead.

Brainstorm is the first murder of this continuity, unless another character was there with him who dies and is the actual victim....he's deader than dead.

maybe this will be a continuity where characters actually stay dead.

>Starring Everyone's Favorites!
>Also Rubble
Jesus, might as well just call him "Expendable for Dramatic Purposes"

Look at his size and coloration. He's gonna get reformatted a bit and change his name to 'Rumble'.

here's what i want with Rubble.

him to go somewhere.

i'm thinking what if he ends up falling into the Decepticons, basically see how a innocent young bot could join their cause and Bumblebee having to eventually face off against his former protege and friend.

>comics
>characters actually stay dead
Come on, don't be silly. He clearly faked his own death in order to create disorder and chaos and eventually create a violent ascenticon/decepticon uprising and is going to play a Shockwave tier baddie later on.

>Instead of being broadly telepathic, Windblade's job was being a cityspeaker for Metroplex.
Interesting. It's looking like they brought this back with Cyberverse, considering what she does in some of the flashbacks.

Thanks for showing me my error, I legitimately forgot the extra details. However, my point that the argument that Wingblade being created by the fans voids complaints about her still stands. The fans voted on a general outline, they didn't decide on her design and the details of personality (Other than just valiant apparently, and I certainly wouldn't say that's her personality at all). And as you posted, there is stuff that the fans voted on that was not implemented anyway.
>It's not just "the fans made her", it's "the fans made her in celebration of the franchise lasting 30 continuous years"
I'm talking about the design. The only input the fans had in that was the altmode and colorscheme.

Brainstorm becomes Aizen.

Attached: just according to keikaku aizen.png (680x523, 318K)

>Rubble finds out he was separated from his batchmate who was considered faulty and thrown away before they were brought online
>Soundwave rescued Frenzy and later meeting him will cause Rubble to become Rumble and finally choose an altmode, declaring his loyalty to the cons
mite b cool

He's just going to end up revived as a Titanmaster.

It's not like she has the exact same design all the time, she's gotten tweaks across the different universes she's been in.

Attached: 64654654.png (1604x1290, 2.14M)

>However, my point that the argument that Wingblade being created by the fans voids complaints about her still stands.

I meant that the argument that Wingblade being created by fans voids any complaint is wrong.

>I'm talking about the design. The only input the fans had in that was the altmode and colorscheme.

I guarantee if fans could've chosen the design concepts they thought of, they would've went with Knight.

she could've become Robo-Saber.

Considering what he did in Lost Light, it's not too out of character for Brainstorm to have a convoluted world ending plan. He did it last time because he wanted to fuck Quark.

that's fair. this would be the next logical extreme.

>Let her have some kind of unique hook that justifies her existence.
Bumblebee's BFF is looking like the route they're going with. It's not a bad one so far, so I'm for it.

As for design, I think she should have more designs, but I think that's the trend that happening for Transformers as a whole. Everyone seems to have a more uniform design with little variation, and Windblade staying similar is an unfortunate consequence. That being said, some changes in design would be nice, if only because some artists and art styles don't make her look too good.

>Bottom Left
Huh. Removing the blue parts on her head actually helps streamline the design better.

Could be a fakeout. Brainstorm ends up alive but there could easily be another murder. Don't worry, even if that's the case I'm sure it will be another character you love.

I'll scream if they kill Hot Rod off before he gets to do anything.

If I started a series, I'd have Windblade start off as a villain, who, shortly after being introduced, joins the Decepticons. We get some backstory that she was an Autobot and best friends with Chromia, but after an incident, slowly becomes brainwashed and evil.

He'd be a good choice for dying since later on his corpse could be resurrected as Rodimus. Could, anyway.

Just have her as part of Starscream's harem.

As long as it's not Blurr. He's had enough already.

>>I have no idea who Windblade is, but they look and act like someone's Sonic OC, not a good first impression
>Barely does anything at all

Yeah sure you don't

>another character you love

It's a bit of a catch-22. Use a major name - large number of people sad, but at least you got some pathos across. Use an obscure bot - turbonerd fans like me are sad, but no one else cares. Kill a brand new OC - literally no one cares.

This is giving me so many conflicting emotions. I grew up with the Cybertron cartoon, so naturally I like the design that Optimus had, but this looks awful. The sleeker, Katoki-esque proprtions of the original were complememted well by the aesthetic, but here it looks so fucking wonky and weird it's making me sick. Couldn't they at least slim him up a bit? Or fix the transformation a bit? It looks like the Energon Optimus, who had a big chungus torso, a unit of a body, and some skimpy fucking limbs.

I have to wonder if all issues will end up being as "light" as this one due to the 2 week schedule. This might be a series I read as trade paperbacks.

You mean "light" as in not too heavy on the plot? This is the first issue of a new continuity. They're just laying some groundwork, especially since they're diverging from the usual civil war story and doing the lead up into it. I don't think anything in here is going to be wasted, not even the scavenger creatures. I'm betting they'll end up blamed for the attack since they were in the area. A nice cover for the real culprits.

Not so much that it's light on plot, just that not a whole lot happens per page. I'm not expecting a dense culmination of plots like the way Unicron played out, but this feels a bit slow, maybe? I don't feel it's a deal breaker by any means, but it reminds me a tad of All Hail Megatron #1, although maybe not quite that decompressed. I'm reserving judgement at this point anyway.

It's a remold of Ultra Magnus, so massive design changes aren't feasible.

Attached: War-for-Cybertron-Siege-Leader-Ultra-Magnus.jpg (2315x1217, 437K)

I hope they don't try to do the "Magnus is just the armor" thing as a twist again, everyone expects it at this point

>killing Brainstorm in the first issue

Fuck this shit I'm out. The art's bad and the story is already garbage.

>A dozen issues would go by without a single Transformer actually TRANSFORMING because all they were doing was talking talking talking.
You fucking faggot we actually sat down and counted the transforming in the previous issues once before because of little shits like you and it was alot more than you would complain about.

Him? Oh, please. It would totally be Cliffjumper

I swear to god if they kill them both off in this continuity...i swear.

I've had enough of both of them biting it.

Like kill someone like Huffer or Gears off, no one will miss them.

>everyone having a go at Windblade

I don't have any particular feeling towards her but I do know that the IDW comics not having an arc where she goes through moral degradation as a result of Starscream's pragmatic, underhanded advice working better than the moral high ground options and eventually turns into almost as much of a skeevy asshole that spends her free time drinking with Starscream and complaining about how fucked up Cybertron is to him was a huge wasted opportunity

Attached: 1528688138011.png (351x351, 153K)

Where's my girl Nautica?

This. When will they do Beast Wars or other timelines? Especially Beast Wars. At least Japan still remembers this exists while Hasbro limits it greatly.

>When will they do Beast Wars or other timelines? Especially Beast Wars.

2016 was Beast Wars' 20th anniversary and Hasbro didn't even notice. If it isn't G1, it doesn't exist.

Hey, RiD had her be defeated by a woodchuck in her second appearance and almost dying by falling into a river. The same show that made her be chosen by Primus himself. She's like a pastiche of Mary Sues in RiD, now that I think about it. Anyway, she rarely upstaged anyone so at least the RiD writers knew what they were doing with her.

>she rarely upstaged anyone
She introduced herself by beating up Sideswipe without even trying.

If they're using that new toy as a basis for the new IDW comic, then Magnus would be the White Optimus figure, like in Dreamwave and the G1 toy.

>play a Shockwave tier baddie later on.
pls no

Rubble gets so sad at seeing dead Brainstorm that he becomes a headmaster to reanimate Brainstorm's body.

>Bumblebee's BFF is looking like the route they're going with. It's not a bad one so far, so I'm for it.
And just like the Autobots in AoE had to live in a junkyard, so had the ones from RiD. Also Samurai Drift.
Windblade is basically robot Charlie Watson now.

Wtf? Kill Windcharger! He's done nothing in years!

That's just you, but honestly I had a headcanon where Windblade ends like older Peter Parker from Spider-verse, jaded and used to everything, but still good.

>She introduced herself by beating up Sideswipe without even trying.
RiD Sideswipe? Come on, that barely counts. also she spent the remainder of the episode flirting with him.

How'bout Cliffjumper? He's basically the red shirt of the Transformers series, now.

>Windcharger
>Red too
>But does nothing
Leave Cliff alone, he's had enough.

we dont know if hes dead yet come on people

hopefully not the next victim.

That said Froid is gonna be in the next issue or it appears to be him. Now that Brainstorm was in this issue, it all but guarantees this is Froid.

I actually want to see Windcharger do something for once.

He's basically robot Magneto power wise, that alone should be explored.

True but Im sick of these shitty death fake-out cliffhangers from the last run and theyre going to fucking start this shit in their first damn issue?

Hate to break it to you, but that's been a thing since the Marvel days. It's not gonna stop any time soon, from the look of things.

Is this the first issue of the new reboot I've been hearing about? Good place to jump on?

Yes, it's the first issue. You could jump on and know as much as pretty much everyone else, but it's a slow burn. It might be a better read after a few more issues are out.

might as well.

Maybe if I read the next issue, something exciting will happen!

>Comic is titled "TRANSFORMERS"
>THIS is the only page in the entire first issue to show a Transformer transforming:
Jesus Christ, IDW. I know you're allergic to action in your Transformers comics, but is a robot turning into a vehicle ALSO too exciting for you?

He’s been there before.

Attached: 20C36192-D723-4B66-87AB-9B7ADD3EAA61.jpg (955x660, 321K)

Is this a sequel to anything or is it a completely new continuity?

Twice technically...
Neither really counted though.

Attached: 3A7F50DE-B398-4711-8907-94ABD443D38D.jpg (1034x961, 500K)

>You fucking faggot we actually sat down and counted the transforming in the previous issues once before because of little shits like you and it was alot more than you would complain about.
See: ONE page in the whole fucking comic of a Transformer transforming.

Brainstorm was originally a deception in the last IDW, right? I wonder if he’s still one in this continuity, and if that’s connected to his apparent murder?
>mfw he faked his death or did himself in to spark a full on rebellion

Attached: C81C41B9-206C-4830-A7AD-616A9D8FF03E.jpg (489x489, 25K)

I'll decide after the first story is over, but I'm not that excited. It seems to still include some of things that I didn't like in old IDW and I'm not that fond of the art/toy models.

It's not a sequel. It's a completely fresh start. I'm just saying that this is the type of book that's going to be more enjoyable if you read a couple issues at a time instead of one-by-one.

Could be the other way around too.

Megs makes it pretty clear Orion is older. I kinda like it, honestly. Have Megatron be younger, more purely idealistic and hotheaded as a leader rather than a hardened and angry gladiator.

Then Orion says by "barely a cycle".

How cute, they're like bickering twin brothers.

When did we get to see Froid?

Im not defending this new crap at all, I agree with you on the new issue, just that people bitching about the old ongoing were full of shit.

I thought the line was "Autobots wage their battle to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons"?

OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE

Attached: 1449616134211.png (250x278, 146K)

We're having fun aren't we. Thanks IDW.

#BringBackMcCarthy

>Bring back McCarthy
He was one of the worst writers we've ever had, did you not read Empire of Stone?

So this is what passes for Transformers toys these days? In my day they put effort into things.

what the fuck is wrong with prowl's mouth

>2016 was Beast Wars' 20th anniversary and Hasbro didn't even notice. If it isn't G1, it doesn't exist.
FUCK HASBRO.

Still not enough. Not even Uprising was enough.

Oh shit, that really does look like him, I'd totally missed it. I had thought that a preview of the interiors had come out or something like that.

Why is the art so, mediocre? I mean, it isn't repulsive like Rigatoni's, but it has no life to it.

What’s the point of writing Transformers if fans get angry if literally any Z-list or background dies?

You can’t destory the Decpticons because that would upset fans that their favorite character died. Transformers can only either safely talk for endless days or kiss.

Why the fuck are we killing off characters this early? The needless deaths were one of the major issues people had with the previous run.

Attached: Prowl.jpg (254x267, 19K)

>Enough talking, fucking kiss already.

Because its nearly exact copies of the toys with no life to the art at all. Its very stiff and static looking with no feeling.

Hasbro's keeping a tighter leash on synergy between their TF properties now and the characters in this comic are going to be using the Seige toy designs for the forseeable future.

>old continuity never did get around to Abominus and now PotP is over

Still going to be pissed.

>EVERYONE IS A HEADMASTER

Yep, a waste.

Windblade a cute.

>tfw2005 on fire
Still true to this day.

Maybe we actually do need a Megatron who is an asshole just because he wants to be king of the universe like the original. The franchise didn't even start going into the hows and whys of Decepticons being pricks until around Dreamwave's era.

THOSE FUCKERS!

Well, the first arc is investigating a killing.
Like in the previous IDW where Orion got drug into the conflict investigating the killing of senators and beating of demonstrators.

brainstorm is a Japanese headmaster from victory wars

/toy/ here, where are the toys?

Not on store shelves, I can tell you that much.

Is it RUINED FOREVER?

They are here.
>prices on deluxes are now jacked up to 20 bucks each

Fuck you too Hasbro. At least they didn't pull this shit when they were still making combiners.

Yup.

Depends. Ya want Micromaster two packs? Got them out the ass.

Leaders? Ha ha fuck you.

You have Ravage and Laserbeak in your area? Still first wave shit here as usual.

>Wal-mart here didn't even go past wave one of Titans Return the entire time the line was active

Mexican here. We have the exact opposite problem, nothing but leaders and Wave 2 Targetmasters.

Nope. Just racks and rack of Wave 1.

Racks and racks even? Must be nice. Around here, one peg per size class.

i don't get it

>mfw they want $72 for the fucking leaders

Attached: tic.gif (500x288, 172K)

Who else wants to see all of Roberts former favorite pets get killed in the new comics? It might make it worth reading after the slog he forced on us.
>Oh no, it's Drift! And he's dead! How?!
>Excessive trauma applied to the pelvic region
>Oh no, it's Ratchet, how did HE die?
>Choked on Drift

I don't care what Roberts did with him, don't you fucking joke about killing Ratchet, bub.

In the old Marvel continuity, he was basically a disgruntled war vet who decided the Autobots were corrupt and needing overthrowing.

The new insane prices are going to ween me off of impulse buying at least. Combiner Wars reeled me in and now I don't even want to spend 20 dollars for a goddamn deluxe sized Hound when I spent 14 for the CW one just a few years ago.

Better yet,
>oh look, Roberts' characters and they are so much fucking better written, who's Roberts anyway?
That's what you should want user.

This is a fresh slate. No need to drag in baggage from the previous continuity.

>>There's so many characters it's impossible to not have someone killed and him be someone's favorite.

Meanwhile IDW is already continuing their tradition of shoving in OC Donuts Steals that gets lots of time instead of the hundreds of established characters who could finally use some pages.

>killing Ratchet in such a shitty way
die

>could have had Bumblebee be the new kid and have Cliffjumper showing him around
>Bee later adopts Cliff's body type in order to emulate his idol

Corny but would have worked. Rubble is most likely an expendable red shirt anyway.

I'm still not over how Ratchet went in RG1. He's the one whose death I don't think I could take happening this soon.

who knows. They loved throwing in their own guys. Can't wait for their next Super Edgy Decepticon Squad that mutilate a bunch of characters you've heard of.

Making Rubble is probably gonna end up being a good call in hindsight. Since he's not established, we have no idea where he's gonna end up either. If they kill him, he's expendable. It's tedious if you hate new characters, but more established characters are less likely to get screwed over this early.

Megatron not being older, even if barely, completely ruins the OP/Megs dynamic. Megatron is supposed to be convinced all his actions are necessary and that a cruel tyranny is the only way to lead his race. Being older and more disillusioned is what made his convictions even stronger, especially when Orion/Optimus, someone he considers a naive and unexperienced upstart, gets in his way of changing the old, ineffective system.

Optimus is supposed to be an alternative to Megs' cruelty, an advocate for a more peaceful way of changing the status quo, who surfaces in reaction to Megs' stepping over the line. He answers the call when nobody else could.

Making OP older than Megs, even by a little, makes the first look like a part of the problem and one of the reasons the latter rebelled in the first place (damaging his usual hero status), and the latter loses credibility usually given to him by his greater experience, which was also supposed to give him advantage in the upcoming war.

This is bullshit.

Buy a Cog.
Buy Micromasters.

Assemble a god.

Attached: 43644568-EE5F-4F98-99ED-7F6CAE7823C1.jpg (960x1280, 150K)

Except for Brainstorm.

Nobody gives a shit about the crap they shoveled out between S3 G1 and BW.

Well, I should say nobody wants to see them in starring roles. Obscure characters are always fun to see, and not have die like C-list X-Men teenagers in summer events.

Attached: 0B721996-60A8-419B-89DC-F1589C363AD7.jpg (936x702, 145K)

Does it even explicitly say that Megatron is younger than Orion/Optimus in this continuity?

Cause the way I see it, they're just saying that the Ascenticon movement is younger than the Autobots, not that Megatron is younger.

Though I could be wrong.

Rubble is Bumblebee’s Targetmaster for Siege.

Fucking calling it now.

>Chromia and Prowl as a bad cop buddy duo
Oh no, I want to ship them.

It's why I said less likely, though we still don't know how permanent death is for Cybertronians this continuity.

I prefer Megatron being a senator to Starscream being one, and both to them just being assholes because they were built as assholes by assholes.

Starscream as a figurehead is a much more interesting concept. Then his background would be someone that had a title but no actual power, which kinda fits him.

Previous IDW he was more like a highly HIGHLY corrupt politician who robbed everyone, ran from his debts, and finally joined a rebel group just because they shared all his non-constituent enemies.

>oh SWEET Brainstorm's in this maybe it won't be so bad after
>he's dead
Well, I guess that's pretty clever - I can't think of many other characters I'd care about being off'd. But I'm also raging.

Attached: IMG_4183.jpg (251x541, 102K)

>killed him off asap so the shippers won't infest the new continuity

Maybe they'll kill Tailgate next issue.

“H-h-hurry, you still have time to...to...catch my Decepticon counter..part...”

This is Transformers.

The only way to prevent shippers is expose the product to nobody. Not even its own writers.

Attached: 14C306C7-B8B7-44F4-B697-DDB1F48AF5E6.jpg (200x152, 12K)

Maybe people would if the writers actually used them instead of totally made up guys from their own fan fiction.

Not likely.

The vast majority of them are Decepticon redshirts who’s personality is “likes to destroy stuff”. Like trying to get individual personalities into Terrorcons or G1 Predacons.

Yeah, I read that issue. It was great. I just like the idea of Starscream of seeming like a big shot but actually having no power. Gotta admit seeing him in big political positions and doing slimy things was refreshing, though.

>did Megatron deliberately 'accidentally' tonk into ironhide to get his attention
>was it an aggressive tonking because he's jealous of him being Optimus' new confident

Too late.

Attached: IMG_9881.jpg (717x920, 195K)

We could only be so lucky.

>hasbro making them draw the characters so close to the toys that they force them to draw the toy's screwholes.

Wowsa.

>Tonka

This looks awkward and detailed in all the wrong ways. If Hasbro or whoever wanted extreme toy accuracy, they could have just made a photo comic.

Protip: Primus was a comics OC.

The problem is that nobody wants to fucking try with characters post '85. There's an entire universe of G1 characters who get nothing in these comics and cartoons because the authors just want to use the same ones over and over. One of the original highlights of MTME was Roberts was using all these unloved 'bots and giving them new life and it actually worked until he went off the deep end and got too full of himself.

Hell, the last continuity just ignored characters that by all rights should have been in the Unicron fight like the Stunticons and Combaticons as they simply got forgotten about as focus shifted back to the same old same old again.
More bots need Windblade's publicist.

You take that back, Blot is a special boy

Attached: 12133.jpg (897x1340, 298K)

Imagine the smell

Attached: sniff.jpg (1920x1080, 167K)

Never would have figured Blot of all things would have one of the best combiner toys in Generations. I love the little grape licorice flavored goblin.. ogre.. thing.

Attached: 1542292678697.jpg (640x640, 31K)

Yep, back in the day it made sense when there were less characters. Hell, the original character had to make up guys just because they used up all the toys they were allowed to use.
Now, we have 30 plus years of characters. Many of whom are blank slates for someone to do what they want with.
And Primus is a bad example, like Unicron, he was a concept there was no possible existing toy for. In IDW case it's just "well, these guys exist that could fill the slot in my story but I'm gonna make up my own guy because I need to make my mark." "Decepticon turned autobot, naah no one like that already exists. Brutal Deception hunter, naah. I gotta make up my own guys."

kys you tasteless faggot

Aw man, I wish I could be making some TF comics. Tho I'm not so great at drawing robots and mechanical shit.

Is there a list of underutilized tfs out there?

Take your pick of whatever characters weren't in the cartoon or Marvel comic for G1.
Most of Beast Wars and Machines didn't get any fictional representation due to how expensive it was to make new character models for the show.

This. I don't want it to be all 1984 characters plus Windblade plus OCs. Mix it up, please. Though I guess anyone not a new or planned toy is unlikely to appear.

Those are ports for weapons, shits neat.

tell me more about this version of prowl

Spamming this will only make me want more gay stuff out of spite.

all the bayformer decepticons

Seconding this. I love gay robots and you're only encouraging me user.

Why did they take the Windblade poll so seriously, but when they had a poll that decided the new leader of Cybertron, and it ended up being Optimus Primal, it only got acknowledged with an exclusive toy?

Attached: scepterofsparks.jpg (1000x1000, 209K)

Someone at Hasbro might be part of the Trukk not Munky crowd.

Personally, I can't wait for the Dinobots to come back. I'd like to see them as big, dumb muscle this time around, rather than PTSD addled black ops war criminals. Let the Wreckers do shit like that.

But when you've got a tough nut to crack, and you've tried everything else - you've tried stealth, smarts, conventional warfare - and none of it worked and you just do not care anymore about what condition your objective is in and someone like Omega Supreme or Metroplex isn't around, you get the fucking Dinobots.

Isn't there a GoBots comic coming out on the reg?

Attached: Dinobots_coloured_by_markerguru.jpg (728x1098, 297K)

Yeah, but it's not great.

It's by that one guy who did the more recent GI Joe vs. Transformers comics based on the 80s shows. "Gun God meet your avatar", etc.

>one issue they find a crashed lost light with robo skelatons and ignore it

Windblade got a huge push, because Hasbro wanted girl Transformers but Furman's autism had made Arcee radioactive (to the point Prime used her Movie color scheme/alt mode) as far as evil tranny mass murderer being unmarketable to normies.

So with Windblade, they had their solution to the female question Push Windblade as the new main female character in the franchise, over Arcee and all of the other female bots.

Rather have the Dinobots be chaotic good retards who fuck off and do their own shit, which is eat and sleep and behave like adult babies. No hardcore special ops shit, just retard babies who are so fucking dumb and cute in their retardation, that Optimus and the rest of the Autobots can't stay mad at them when their childish play accidentally wrecks something important.

Only issue I have with Windblade is that her robot mode is just a geisha body with VTOL jet wings on her back. She should have more obvious jet parts.

This has been my exact complaint about Windblade from day one.

Japan fucking loves Primal.

Yeah, and it's pretty great. It takes about an issue or two to get wild but once the scioli begins the ride there's no brakes till the end.

Attached: COMBINE.png (735x676, 880K)

I just don't want Grimlock out of commission for most of the continuity this time

Attached: Grimlock.jpg (960x704, 79K)

>Only issue I have with Windblade is that her robot mode is just a geisha body
>geisha body
You’re a moron.

Her body is just a Seeker with boobs instead of a chest cockpit, her face has Kabuki face makeup used for samurai, her helmet “hair” and the kimono she wears in the Japanese comics are remniscient of young Japanese nobility in the Muromachi period.

If she was a geisha her hair would be more ornate, her weapon would be a dagger instead of a sword and a giant fucking bladed spear, her teeth would be black, and her makeup would exclusively draw attention to the lips.

Attached: AF334A44-4EE2-4B9D-81DE-5B6D70FE7D51.jpg (500x500, 162K)

Compare to a geisha.

Lips, sometimes a small amount to the eyes and never vertically.

The rest pure white to look flawless, sometimes with eyebrows shaved off to emphasize flawless skin all the more. In antiquity fake eyebrows were painted on halfway up the forehead to emphasize the face even more, somethibg even some high noble men did.

Attached: C765458D-CD7E-4B3C-8730-3B9C414A3A64.jpg (610x480, 33K)

They could have Brainstorm be a headmaster for once and explain it away that his body was murdered.

I'd be OK if they just jetison all of the Dinobots save for Swoop and Grimlock and write them ala Siren and Nightbeat.

IE Dinobot is the obnoxious mary sue type and Swoop is his battered, abused BFF who suffers mightily on adventures with Grimlock because Grimlock's Mary Sue nature means that his BFF bears the brunt of the abuse

But that's how all her toys are. you basically fold her legs and arms up then pull out the nosecone and there's your jet mode.
She's just not boxy like the Aerialbots so it's easier to forget she's just like them and wears her jet mode on her back.

No.

Dinobot ongoing. On Eukaris.

I thought she was a reference to that time Perceptor got a tiny little geisha body.

Attached: nijika.jpg (450x340, 123K)

Japanese media has Windblade as the updated version of that character who’s self-aware now.
But her face is supposed to be the Autobot symbol that’s been reshaped to fit onto a robot doll.

What about those backpacks? Really, is like look at the toys.

sauce?

Primal became the leader of Cybertron in Power of the Primes, but only in Optimal form.

Not holding my breath until I am 100% sure this series wont have focus on homosexual robots (conjunx endura is fine just don't act like faggots), gurl power, gender pronouns, and a clusterfuck of a lore to include women that is so convoluted it hurts.

>Quoting and chanting to a new original character doughnut steel fem bot on the first page
>First issue focus on new thicc OC fembot
>Only one battle ready is Windblade

Things ain't looking good this go around either.

They better do Prowl right this time around too. You can't make an ends justify the means character and never make him right at least once. If his methodology doesn't actually ever get results then it stops being a character trait and a point of discussion and intrest and just becomes a meaningless joke.

Art is nice though.

>Not holding my breath until I am 100% sure this series wont have focus on homosexual robots
I hope its extra gay just to spite you for being a whiny faggot.

Making her leader was a bit nonsensical when you think about it. In the story she's only been on Cybertron for a short while as Metroplex's caretaker and now she's leading the entire planet (well, was)? At least Starscream can say that the planet never got destroyed when HE was leading it.

I mean I agree. None of the issues of the last IDW run would have ever happened if you executed all the cons and kept the NAILs away.

Gays existed because they wrote out girls and had to have an excuse that male and female Transformers have been shoved into generic male bodies for so long that most of the population is possibly female.

In this new continuity there’s girls from day 1. They will probably have a gay couple at some point just because it ticks off the box, but other than that it should be full of straight couples too.

Hell, we may get some decent new fembots out of it.

Soon comes the day when our God will be unbroken.
Rejoice! For Mekhane shall rise once more, and return order to this flawed world.

She’s more popular than any of the other ones in the running.
Most bots were aware she was pals with the Decepticon/Autobot crew at Blurr’s bar, and was keeping Starscream in check. They knew Elita was a raging psychopath and Carcerians didn’t have a good reputation anyway, and most Velocitronians are dicks.

Windblade made the most sence. The only thing against her was being a Camien, a people known for being religious which should have alienated the Decepticons.
Humans, Eukarians, and Duocons never stood a chance and didn’t bother trying. The rest of the colonies failed.

Get the fuck over it already. Hasbro actually let fans have a hand in creating the character. For once they reached out and gave us some input.

She's not going anywhere. Ever. So suck it up.

>All this Windblade hate
I-I like her...
I think she's got a cool design and a neat titan-speaking gimmick, that's all...

Attached: BjL6IuP.png (142x142, 12K)

I like it when BAN! draws her.

That's not really far off from what I want - for example, if there's a Decepticon fortress that the Autobots can't manage to take, whichever Autobot is the Dinobots' designated 'tard wrangler can get a call, and then with an exasperated sigh he had to try and get the Dinobots motivated to fuck shit up when they'd rather laze around and stare at a wall or something instead. Sort of like how Kup ended up being to them in the G1 movie.

I'm not really sure you could have them be full retard in comics these days, and especially with the company that's publishing - they seem like they drank all of the SJW Kool-Aid.

Having never read a Transformers comic or dipped my toe into any Transformers except the occasional Bayformers movie or G1 episode, I really like this so far. Looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Of course you do.

I was the one wanting more jet parts on her design...
I have 4 Windblades.

Weird, where I live those aren't hard to find. It's not really that good of a toy, though the small one is indeed nice.

Creatively lazy, artistically lazy, however the fuck you want to say it, but I wasn't referring to it being physically lazy. The same way one can have lazy writing, it just screams that there wasn't much thought put into it.

Fans didn't write Windblade

shouldn't she be in a host club

Who?

>Ouran but Transformers

YES

So what are you headcanon voices for this continuity. here's mine.

Optimus, Bumblebee and Windblade - Cyberverse voices

Megatron - Jason Marnocha (Prime Wars Megatron)

Ironhide - John DiMaggio

Rubble - Shameik Moore (Miles Morales, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse)

Prowl - Mark Rolston (Kolivan, Voltron: Legendary Defender)

>HI, I’M WINDBLADE!
>SIGH, I’M WINDBLADE.
>DIE, I’M WINDBLADE!
>BYE, I’M WINDBLADE!
That one parody was the only redeeming aspect of that series.

Freddery's parody of it was top tier.

His tongue must be in the back of his head.

It'll probably be more idw than marvel UK but I can dream

Well this started swimmingly already.

They will Turn Magnus into Dion, if not "Dion Ambus"

Windblade was perfect when Scott was writing her, starscream and Chromia. Now she will be another victim of IDW's SJW propaganda...

Also i feel sorry for any fembot that will be Written by Roberts and Barber.

Attached: megatron is coming back and i cant leave the fucking planet.jpg (735x585, 282K)

They should make Magnus Optimus's bro again like in RID01

How can you even be brothers when you're a robot?

They’ll half-ass an explanation somehow.

Dreadwing and Skyquake says hi

Forged at the same time or from the same materials maybe? I remember Dreamwave Magnus being primes brother because they had the same inner frame

Being born at the same time, or the same location, or being a branched spark

tfwiki.net/wiki/Relatives

I kinda want a Maxima toy, it would be perfect for the Selects line.

you know what's sad, Maxima's VA was legitimately excited to be a part of the franchise and they give her one line and bam dead!

Attached: arcee is sad.png (367x371, 126K)

>Maxima's VA was legitimately excited to be a part of the franchise and they give her one line and bam dead!
Fuck, that's legit horrible. Even I feel terrible. I really hope they do make a toy of Maxima, for her sake.
Jesus, was it so hard to find her another role? This ran for three seasons.

Wow you're retarded. When the poll was up fans only got to pick color, gender and altmode- nothing else. Hasbro came up with the stupid geisha/Noh look, the character type and everything else all on their own so no shit some people wouldn't like her.

Hey dumbass, we already went over this in the thread:

considering Maxima's design is a clearly a Windblade retool i'm shocked they didn't do it in TR when they had the chance.

even as some sort of exclusive.

Or at least just the Head if they were so wary of releasing a pink jet.

Wheels are useful for travelling. Probably more energy efficient than levitation.

Compared to someone like Blurr or Shockwave, she has really similar designs between versions.

You are seriously using the "entire design revolves around being folded into arm/leg" which only kind of work from the top as good jet design?

What about one that has an altmode of a heavy fighter, has a fucking horseslayer sword scaled up to giant robot size and her feet form the nosecone?

wat show is this?

Power of the Primes. Don’t bother watching it. You’re better off not knowing it exists.

Will best boy finally get his time to shine?

no

He gains a third mode called Countercounterpunch and a fourth mode called Punchcounterpunch.

Hopefully.

the fact he didn't pop up in the first IDW continuity was jarring.

Eject too.

He was supposed to get a series but it got axed by the continuity ending.

I've just accepted she's here to stay till Hasbro is done with her or what not.

Attached: bluestreak shrug.jpg (600x361, 54K)

>He was supposed to get a series but it got axed by the continuity ending.

That's incorrect.

They announced his mini-series in 2010 and since then nothing came of it.

Oh no, I gave a faggot an abbreviated version of what was already talked about because I knew there was no way in hell he'd read that long diarrhea of a post you linked to (and clearly he didn't read it).

Fuck off.

that art is bad and you should feel bad

Nice art, user! Transformers are hard as fuck to draw.

Because you are based, that's why. Thanks user.

We posting gay robots now?
More like bi, actually.

That is what your mom said when I ate her fried chicken.

You think tumblr would freak if they either made Chromedome straight or gave him a different love interest (still male but not Rewind)

Most of Tumblr left when porn was banned.
Nobody cares what’s left.
Sure.
I just posted it since Milne just posted it.

This is nice, man I miss Milne.

>Most of Tumblr left when porn was banned.
>Nobody cares what’s left.
Theres still a large transformers community there, just all the freaks left when the porn got banned.

>Tumblr banned porn
Sometimes living under a rock is pretty nice.

“-and the female presenting nipple.”
That got the neocons AND SJW pissed.

>I just posted it since Milne just posted it.
We don't deserve Milne.

They banned artistic porn, lady boobs and anything that looks like human fleshtones (because their ai bot that bans things is retarded) but theres still a ton of cp. What a world.

Aye. We deserve someone better.

Alright, who?

Kawamori

Milne was one of the best, off yourself. Kawamori is good I'll agree but he can't into actual Transformers art without it looking like a damn super-robo thing.

>Kawamori on an admittedly half-assed American reboot comic
I'd think Sakamoto would be up for it, but I think Milne is better overall. Sakamoto can do great stuff, though.

How else would you describe mechanical lifeforms that stand many times taller than a human and can turn into vehicles?

>Sakamoto can do great stuff, though.
Gotdam right!

Attached: sakamoto.jpg (768x1024, 82K)

Sakamoto can't into faces other than :D

I mean his particular style feels very dated to me- it is very for lack of a better descriptor- Japanese mecha looking which I personally dont care for and feel would look odd for an American comic. Sakamoto for some reason I think is ok, his stuff feels like it fits in better.

Shame about his same faces though.

Sakamoto could make it feel more alive, because honestly, this reboot needs it. As far as introductions go, this one issue fails at enticing the reader, other than the twist.

Doing nothing is still nothing, even if the art has brighter colors and less toy details

That's not the artists' fault though.

No, it really isn't.

Sakamoto style is not for serious stories

It objectively is.

Attached: This guy is a fucking idiot.png (499x338, 38K)

No, no it's not. If that were the intent they should just pose the toys and photograph those for the comic and call it a day.

you need to go back

Just take what you're given and be damn grateful you were given ANY input at all.

Whining fucking maggots. I have ZERO empathy for you.

>this post wording and structure
Huh, /toy/ is going hard at it today.

Built by the same guy

It was still input.

Attached: You guys are such fags.jpg (230x192, 27K)

...

Attached: Wow youre an idiot.gif (350x260, 1.63M)

i think its just one angry toy samefag

Who is Tamaki then?

That made literally no sense.

Yep, look at his image titles.

>his
Did you just assume their gender?

Remember "Loli vs Venom"? And the artist gave her followers the old "Fuck you" the second she got a job at IDW?

Did folks actually not like the gay robots or was it just the fact that IDW spammed the shit out of them that did it?

Personally I didn't mind it at first, it felt nice to see Cybertronians actually living like a population rather than the war torn society it was forced to be for millennia. Then I thought it got kind of silly. Not the fact that there were romances, but the fact that every single one you saw seemed, off. Like it was just there to be there you know? Or it was just there for drama's sake and not because the character would naturally be /in/ such a relationship.

Like those two robots in devestator, I forget their names. One of them had a crush on the leader and then here comes a brain manipulator robot like "hey I see you want that robot dick. Help me keep these jokers in line and I'll make it so he pounds your exhaust port like jackhammer every night for the rest of your lives."

If it was actually shown earlier, subtly, that he felt that way the scene would have had more gravitas. Instead if felt tacked on, like they just made him lust for dick so they could pull that plot off.

Look at this way, the one who got the romance right was the fujo out of all the writers, so yes, you are right, it felt forced for the most part with Barber being the biggest offender.

All of the above happened since not everyone is the same person.

Patty cake, Patty Cake, Bakers Man,

Bake me a cake as fast as you can...

Hmm

Rodimus?

Keep the faith my fellow user.
Our time will come.
Yes.

I HATE HIM- it's perfect!
Who would be Kyoya then?
Also imagining them in suits as huge robots is hitting all the funny buttons in my body.

Attached: clangclangfallinlove.png (644x667, 109K)

I liked gay robots and relationships, but my problem wasn't even that relationships started popping up more frequently so much as that it was always as if it was the primary motivator for many characters all of the sudden. I don't even want to blame the writers, primarily, since things really went downhill more there were shakeup in editorial.

Also, did you mean Bruticus instead of Devastator? I think you're talking about Blast Off and Onslaught. When the reveal happened, I read through the beginning of the series again and saw they did attempt to make hints earlier on, but it wasn't really enough to sell the reveal.

That's cute user, nice.

Maybe Ultra Magnus as Kyoya

The twins, I guess Rumble and Frenzy since you can’t really tell em part that easily

Cyclonus as Mori and Tailgate is Honey

I wasn't endorsing it but that's just how she and the Aerialbots were made. It's done that way for most female Transformer toys so that the robot mode is able to have slim lithe bodies and limbs. Generations Arcee and PotP Moonracer/Novastar were the same way in that they wore the majority of their their vehicle modes as backpack kibble. About the only time female robot toys manage to have a convincing vehicle mode and slim female bodies is when they turn into bikes like Prime Arcee and her retool Generations Chromia as their bike modes aren't bulky like a jet or car.

And that is a bad thing.

There's PotP Elita-1. Not exactly slim since she's just a retool of that line's Starscream and has Mega Man X proportions. Plus Strika but she hasn't had a new toy since her original almost 20 years ago.

The original Starscream version of that was a fucking marshmallow

>Punch you are still actively in the process of stabbing yourself with that knife.
>Just stop it, no one is buying it.

>Beefyscream

Fuck, that made more sense than the actual show. I love retard Windblade.

These are pretty incredible desu,

Agreed, like something I'd have framed.

I liked it.

I also liked the Cold Constructed thing. Not only handwaved the high number of gay relationships, but explained repaints, redecos, and the lulzy insanity of a lot of the later character bios in-universe.

how the fuck do you think birth method affected the gay relationships

wat

When Cybertron stopped spitting out babby, they started pulling Sparks out of the Matrix itself. Since the Sparks wouldn’t develop and grow naturally, they stuck them into finished bodies.

Since the body was existing, it wasn’t shaped by the Spark like normal. Triple changer, Beast, Duocon, male or female are all natural forms the soul shapes the body into, but the Cold Constructed are shoved into a body that is always male, and designed for a job they are intended to have for life.

So 50% of all Cold Constructed are female in what are basically mass-produced clone male bodies. Furthermore, “female” is a body shape and voice pitch, not actual sexual differences dictated by reproduction method or genetics.

Any “gay” relationship could actually be straight, since you have no clue tmwhat the Spark of anyone not Forged is supposed to be. Or any gay couple two lesbians, its your toys/comic. They also have no equivalent to sex, just embracing each other in the same way human friends or relatives would.

So there’s literally nothing to be mad about. Cold Construction explains recolors, redecos as self-modified bodies, and gives people who hate gays an out to just randomly decide one of any given couple is female.

In fact, given the hologram human form of Cyclonus is female, there’s actual evidence that Tailgate/Cyclonus is a heterosexual relationship between a shota and a cougar.

I know it gets shit on alot but I actually really like this explanation since we already had things fucked over by Furman and had to come up with something to deal with that.

Tailgate and Cyclonus were both forged.

True.

>*angry gesticulating silence*

How are they allowed to keep their Transformers licence after fucking shit up already? Where is their money coming from? I hear IDW loses a shit ton of money

Optimus says him and Megatron are very close in birth, and everyone is flipping out saying Optimus is older without any evidence.

Transformers still sells and Hasbro doesn't want to deal with the other publishers. Apparently, you have to fuck up pretty badly for Hasbro to even consider giving you the boot.

Wasn't this already posted?

Attached: Transformers #! WonderCon exclusive variant by E.J. Su.png (503x763, 798K)

How long until G.I. Joe and all the other Hasbro products get thrown in?

Oh, oh! When do we get a full on Transformers / Magic: the Gathering crossover where Optimus and Megatron become Planeswalkers?

Attached: Grimlock.jpg (1374x956, 941K)

Just today IDW is announced as out of the top five comic book publishers in the US after some tough competition with the two newest premier publishers

I mean, Dreamwave happened, that should speak about Hasbro's way of dealing with things.

Same thread since Wednesday, just about to hit bump limit after the next post

Thanks

Transformers are mystical enough, I don't see why it didn't happen sooner.

Why are they covered in massive fingerprints?

Duh, they got taken out of the box and played with. How do you think we're getting this comic?

Hasbro was a lot more hands off with Dreamwave, right? Though I guess they were with IDW too til AHM which seems like it was probably the same amount of time.

With Dreamwave they were all like those 80's executives all coked up, raking in profits, thinking everything is going swimmingly and that nothing can go wrong. So a combination of both, I think.

IDW bled money because Hasbro forced them to print shit of all the Hasbro properties.

Nobody fucking cares about Visionaries beyond some niche toy collectors, and even they give 0 fucks about the story.

Transformers on the other hand was popular.

You know, I liked Magic in high school as the adult Yu Gi Oh until I found out it had its own story, which was WAAAAY too far up its own ass.

I thought it was a generic setting woth only enough story to justify a new set. Like Greyhawk D&D.

Still, what they did to G.I. Joe is inexcusable.
