my pick is Infidel. One of the best horror comics I read in a while, the art really made the evil spirits haunting. And the character were very quickly 3 dimensional characters instead of just sounding boards for racism.
Oh shit i had no idea where Tradd Moore had dissapeared to, thanks for the heads up user.
This shit was really good. Underrated as fuck around these parts too.
Was Dogfucker's GL run in 2018 or 17? Deserves to be in the to 20 after filtering for just the capeshit.
i enjoyed mr miracle
Hungry Ghosts was sadly disappointing.
very near the top of my list is Stellar, Bret Blevin's coming back to comic after almost 3 decades away. Damn was this a rollarcoaster and a villain I hated more than any I have for a long ass time
2016-2017
>Anthony Bourdain's Hungry Ghost
uh
Not much has changed, Kaijumax is still the best comic
Best new comic was A Walk Through Hell.
I wish I could say The Seeds, amazing 2 issues, but then out of a 4 issue mini they had to delay 6 fucking months?
It is now pulled from the schedule
David Aja strikes once again!
with limited new releases 2018 was a pretty crap year for new comics. Image seems to have given up on announcing a bunch of new books every year. Probably because most of the top creators have already 'announced' a book for them. Many of which still haven't come out.
At the moment it doesn't look like 2019 will improve much. DC is lowering the numbers of titles they're publishing and I'm willing to bet Marvel will do it too by the end of the year.
Layman brought out two new books, but Outer Darkness had barely launched in 2018 and Leviathan was eh. DWJ's Murder Falcon has been great
Would it be ok if you picked big 2 books instead of this pretentious indie trash? For me the best book of 2018 was Venom!
Venom.
R.I.P. Anthony Bourdain
go away Cates
Keep them coming lads, been off Yea Forums for a couple of years now but this thread caught my interest. Preferably miniseries since i have no interest in hopping back in the super hero train at the moment.
FUCKING AJA JUST GIVE ME THE TWO ISSUES ALREADY YOU FUCK AAARARRGRGRGHHGHGHRHGRHGHRHG
Layman was carried with Chew by fantastic art. Every he's done after has been meh, not even bad enough to comment on. Meanwhile farmhand is drawn so well it's doesn't even need text to be funny.
Punisher: The Platoon was great if you like war stories
Ennis's Sara at TKO has been really good too.
All thing in that pic is top tier
There weren't any.
Artifact One
What do you expect from somebody who has nothing to do with writing fiction?
eh, it's alright but nothing really special
TKO seems promising so far. I haven't checked their complete trades, but I enjoyed their one issue preview.
Great pick. Loved this book.
Still the best comic on stands.
I don't care what anyone else thinks, this was the most fun read I had in 2018.
Please continue, euro stuff is my blind spot.
Any new webcomics in 2018?
I read this last year so it counts
Man, just watching this cover you get a feeling that EU fags live in an entirely different comic world than us and weeaboos.
I'm from the US but just appreciate the variety in the medium
This looks interesting, can I have the sticky on it?
Nice thread. Reminds me of the real Yea Forums
Oh please, this is just TCJ trash.
Maestros was 2018, right?
Pretty fucking good
bro wants to be a boxer, its really good
Glad you reminded me
Few good recs here:
tcj.com
>few
also more people should read this little series
>Image seems to have given up on announcing a bunch of new books every year
That's because so much shit doesn't even get to the point where they publish an issue. Which is why it's so hilarious to think back to couple of years ago when people were on the "IT'S THE BIG THREE NOW BABY!" bandwagon and said Image would overtake DC in couple of years, which is ludicrous as long as Image doesn't have a stable, multiple long running series a la Walking Dead under its belt that can shoulder much of the market while most of their other output is basically six issue minis, etc.
What's this about?
What's the quality on these things? I've been reading the Quarry novels on and off after watching the TV series and I think they've done one or two comics adaptations.
I like eurocomics too, but taking over a thread by spamming shit with no discussion just killed this thread. You aren't point out any best of, you are just spamming shit from which is full of pretentious bullshit Some lists are worse than others, but some are too fucking lazy to list anything from 2018, one guy just put down Anything Grant Morrison, like that means anything, and another said Corto Maltese. The fuck?
Next time, actually pick some books and stop spamming, you are just wasting everyones time
What a depressing year. Garbage and mediocrity praised as masterpieces...
Nice taste, this was pretty good, and certainly one of my favorites of 2018. It was a nicely made story and the art was gorgeous. Plus reading the afterwords every issue was sometimes gut-wrenching.
This is a very interesting miniseries, but I'm gonna be honest, it becomes difficult to follow after a while, not because it's convoluted but the fact that the art is dour and grey. I would like to keep reading though.
Anyway, here's some of my top favorites, a mix of big two and indie:
>Immortal Hulk
>Thanos: Infinity Siblings
>The Green Lantern
>Sideways
>Doctor Strange
>Black Bolt
>Infinity Wars: Sleepwalker
>Sentry
>Relay
>Mech Cadet Yu
>Seven To Eternity
>Stellar
>Infinite Dark
>Plus reading the afterwords every issue was sometimes gut-wrenching.
cancer is a fucking bitch! Glad the book helped him though
>Relay
I am enjoying it, but idk, something is throwing me off a bit on it. Maybe it's just that I can't see where it is going
>Infinite Dark
Hey, someone else is actually reading this! I really liked it, despite it's sloppy first half issue.
>I am enjoying it, but idk, something is throwing me off a bit on it. Maybe it's just that I can't see where it is going
They just switched artists in the latest issue, which kinda diminished the interest I had in it, but on the other hand, they also dropped Donny Cates' name from the cover, so that's a plus. And at this point it's becoming more clear where it's going with the whole Donaldson's "replicas" going against the directive. But its slow release schedule might diminish the impact.
Monstress this year has been really great. Really doubled down on the horror aspects and I like that
>They just switched artists in the latest issue
Because the original artist's eyes are fucked again. Can you convince Relay's creative team to continue the series with the new artist?
This series was the only good thing out of Marvel in 2018.
>Can you convince Relay's creative team to continue the series with the new artist?
If it means shorter release dates, sure... Though it sucks that Andy Clarke is going through that, hope he gets better.
Came here to post this.
Fuck. My LCS owner thought it was coming still.
No. Monstress is a story with characters that are uninspired and with a plot that keeps adding things without really developing or explaining them well enough to create investment. If you think this edgy face rip off comic is decent horror just don't know what to tell you.
Suck my dick.
Not an argument.

It's just like my grandmammy always used to say. She said "Sonny boy, never forget, Europeans read comics, but Americans read movie tie-ins and TV pitches."
Based granny
I’ve been liking Williamson’s Flash and am excited for Year One.
Lindell’s second run of Red Hood is also fucking fantastic.
Fuck, wrong pic.
Lobdell*
I really dug Infinity Countdown: Darkhawk.
Venom is clearly superior.
This.
It was so good I kept forgetting it was being published by Marvel.
Was that from last year too right? I should've included it on my list , the art is top tier and a great fit for the story. I bought the trade also.
Yeah man. This book is very good. Loveness also did the underrated Nova book with both Sam and Rich. I hope he keeps doing comics.
Yeah came out last year. Got the trade myself about a month back.
Is that Black Panther comic any good?
Judas
Beasts of Burden: WDEM
The Wrong Earth
Oh don’t be a cuck, let people like what they like.
For me? Venom!
FUCK YEAH THAT'S SO DOPE!
Yeah it was
what's that middle down.
new League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Pretty dense read for a very meh comic.
I liked Infidel very much as well.
Brubaker's My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies was 2018 right? I rarely see him mentioned around here
I second this. Loved it
Storytime >
Thank bb
>My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies
I still need to read this.
you have bad taste
>...hot monkey dick...
im woke
yeah, each month proves that DWJ and Murder Falcon is the best thing happening in comics
>DWJ
?
Daniel Warren Johnson
Riding with this book. First arc just ended today. Image has been making my LCS trips much more worth it.
