Volume 1 made me drop Saga. Waaaay overhyped garbage.
The first 5 or so books were okay but pretty clear BKV didn't have a clearly defined or interesting story to tell.
I cannot believe I was strung along for as long as I was.
I dropped it after Prince Robot died.
Can someone tell me what this book is about? I read volume 1 but I still don't know.
Do you mean literally?
Romeo and Juliet in space, meandering off into stuff that didn't really need to be there
No I mean from your pull list. What kind of sperg throws a book?
As someone completely unfamiliar with Brian K Vaughn, what do you guys think of his involvement in the upcoming Gundam adaptation as a writer?
Be afraid. He hates it when characters he doesn’t like become popular and tends to destroy them out of spite.
thats Lord Baltimore ?
That was the issue right before OP's lol
Seriously? Wow, double dropped.
That sounds petty as shit.
>Saga
Stop being a sodomite.
I'm still mad and want Hopeless to get cancer for this.
"Heh. Nothin personnel, kid"
I started this thread by saying I’m done with it.
Same. What a waste of paper.
Oh, I dropped it way before that.
I tried reading the first Volume of Saga and fell asleep. I do not like Brian K Vaughn’s boring writing at all.
>Heh, I never liked this popular comic, I'm so much cooler than that
Well there goes any shred of hope I had for the film.
Bendis taking over Superman
Is Saga the comic of the '10s? I don't mean the best comic of the '10s. I mean the comic that best encapsulates what the hell was going on in comics this decade.
also this.
Watching that shitsack goat get shanked was literally the only thing that made reading that garbage worth it.
I did this too. Having read it later on it turns out I made the right decision.
would getting bored of something and dropping it because you have no urge to continue reading count? Because this is boring. It bored me. The first one was 10x better.
Not Yea Forums
Here's hoping Thompson brings him back since Hazmat's in her Capt. M run.
OP said Books. Comics aern't books, they're comics.
That's not a book either, smartass.
The first one sucked dick after it stopped being a realistic take on superheroes and became a "horror" story. Leviathan was fine, but S9 and everything after was just a constant increase in horrible shit happening for no real reason and wildbow getting egged on by "LUL EXCAHLASHION" memes that haven't stopped to this fucking day.
So I dunno what you expected from a story based entirely around the worst part of Worm other than more of the worst parts of Worm, but you were wrong, retard.
None of these characters matter. This speech doesn't matter.
Well fuck you're right.
I mean everyone can have their opinion but the entirety of the Slaughterhouse 9, the Endbringer chapters, and the ending are some of the best shit I've read in a long time. It's not often i find myself staying up all night to simply read.
First story arc of Saga was fun to read. Obviously a trashy romance, but enough weird stuff and good moments to make it entertaining. Favourites were the Will and Lying Cat.
It was all downhill after the first story arc ended. I stuck with it. Too long. I read through the househusband dude weed arc. Slogged through the prison story. Didnt care about anyone other than Prince Robot, Gus and the will. Everyone else just did stupid shit and decisions that made everything worse as time goes on. It wasnt until the Meteor warzone story where i said "fuck this." Specificly the last 5-6 pages where it was just black pages with nothing.
Thats Saga after the first arc. Just a whole lot of nothing.
Seeing Bendis written on the cover.
>It's FINE we killed off all those characters! You've still got these guys that we're doing literally no comics with so that's fine right?
Fables when they introduced that Dark guy, well technically I continued reading it for a while after that, but that's when it started going to shit
Poker and Chinese food with the Bendisvengers. I couldn’t even be bothered to get it from /rs/ after that.
>Is Saga the comic of the '10s
>I mean the comic that best encapsulates what the hell was going on in comics this decade
For comics as a whole? I can't think of a better one. The shipping, the forced politics instead of story, the tumblr+ art. It's all there.
For the big two in the 10's I'd nominate Gabby's AMERICA. I'm literally in awe that it ever got published.
I read until the end, but Fables stopped firing on all cylinders after the war against The Adversary ended.
I doubt he has that much pull on the popular characters. Sunrise will be keeping an eye on him like a hawk.
Read until the end of that arc and never bought any more.
It stopped being fun.
Like they watched the creators of Iron-
Blooded Orphans?
The Leviathan and Behemoth fights were fantastic despite not entirely playing to the series' strength.
Everything the S9 touched turned to shit. They were such absolute garbage villains that ruined everything.
Haven't read in a while. Has anything interesting happened, has Tony actually done something or is Slott still prancing around the lame as shit supporting cast?
>pic related
Literally could not even look at this book anymore, this character made me want to gag. She even has a line about "white men" somewhere in it too.
And to be fair, this comic is garbage, complete and utter garbage, and has been since like 2008, but this was the final last straw for me. I have a lot of patience too, you have to with this book, but this character was literally it for me.
Well, I fall asleep and drop the book when I try to read capeshit
Yeah, I dropped off at some point too. I can’t even remember when.
That DH #1 is worth a couple hundred,
The Walking Dead has been going down significantly in quality since the AOW arc. Can't stand to read it anymore.
But suffering Goon is the best
>hey, you like this character?
>now they're dead!
>DIVERSITY
>oh and that other character you liked is dead...
That's Saga in a nutshell
Nothing specific, but I dropped The Walking Dead around issue 51 because it got really dumb.
I checked back into it a few weeks ago just to see how it was, and it's somehow worse than I ever could've imagined.
>Shit that made you flat out drop books.
Getting laid off twice in one year.
The Hunter Rose arc of Grendel was a nice sort of noir-ish story with some really nice black/white/red art. The second arc with the woman Grendel was like the polar opposite and nothing but pure 80s garbage. I keep hearing the rest of the Grendel books are better but I can't muster up the interest.
Stopped reading after the cringy israel metaphor
Gravity
I think it was fine till around Mister Dark's origin which was actually a nice issue, but the stuff afterwards was kinda meh with a few good spots, but once it's clear they know where they plan to end and just start killing people off at rapid pace it just didn't feel as impactful as I felt they wanted it to be.
I never got why this upset people so much. Biggy would totally be in character to commit war crimes for the sake of Fable Town
Hung onto King Batman until the back out of the wedding
>Hey guys, here's a poem that looks like it has nothing to do with the story at hand!
>But wait....... here's the kicker guys.... trust me, this shit is genius.....
>It's actually.......... a METAPHOR ABOUT BATMAN
decent in moderate amounts but king does it so fucking much instead of writing interesting character interaction it just feels like a waste of pages at this point
First it's your fault for reading Saga. Second, pointlessly killing C-listers and teen heroes.
That's an AU. I'm guessing this would be 0079 and no way in hell is Sunrise going to let him fuck with that.
Sunrise studios is letting a gaijin do their show?
>Shit that made you flat out drop books.
If my hands are slippery, they sometimes fall out of my hands.
I'm only familiar with Gundam Thunderbolt, which was dreadfully depressing. If he's gonna go on a killing spree, Gundam would be a good fit.
every page of this, everyone is so off character. It's as if NO ONE had even watched the show they're basing the book on.
literally the 2nd page of the first issue of kelly sue deconnicks run on captain marvel
100% agree. Despite it's flaws, Worm at least held my attention. Fucking nothing happened for so long in Ward I dropped it.
Bendis made drop Superman by getting rid of Superboy.
King made me drop Batman with his mistreatment of Booster Gold's characterization.
Combined the two have made me give up on DC.
Do webcomics count?
Because I know that this (homestuck.com
I know that was a late time to drop, but Hussie had a really tight hold on me from the sum of his previous work. But this particular tier of irosincerity was just the straw tier that broke the glitching skateboarder's abdomen.
none of the characters interested me or seemed particularly likable so that's also where I dropped it
I'm amazed you made it that far. The story fell off the wagon when he introduced the FIRST set of trolls. Not a good or valuable character amongst that whole lot of grey-skinned deviantart OC fodder.
When I found out there was an issue I hadn't read with a dragon felatting himself I stopped reading.
This shit right here. Johns being praised for his GL run always throws me in for a loop. How can someone who effectively fucked all established lore and characterization get away with it?
It's the blatant insertion of this out of place political metaphor. No attempt at subtlety at all.
That and I hate whenever pro israel members paint them as some tiny scrappy underdog beating the odds when they receive massive backing from 2 global superpowers.
What's the context?
I remember just sitting there thinking to myself "I think I'm done with Sonic."
Powell said he'll return to the fun one-issue stories with the new volume
Context?
it took you THIS fucking long to drop TWD?
For that panel? Corpse mother can spawn endless zombie babies for the bad guy to control and send after Goon. But she's pretty much gone upstairs. She doesn't actually know what's going on at all and just thinks she's having a nice day with her (one) son. She died in pregnancy.
Really? That's the thing?
I'll tell you, but you're gonna feel real stupid.
Gravity makes you drop comics.
I'm not a big comic guy but fuck I loved the first issues of TWD. How did it bomb so hard? And you're exactly right, this shit isn't new. It's been garbage for ten years and somehow it's still going. Is it the show that still makes Fuckman money?
It's still as shit as you think
To be fair you picked up a really shitty book to begin with so Im not sure why are surprised you droped it again.
>autismo fails to understand the thread again
this keeps happening more and more
We get it, you're a xenophobic bigot. Go back to /pol/, Garrett.
lol at this point /pol/ obsessives are worse than /pol/. you people are ridiculous.
I kind of wanted to the first time I read Morrison's Animal Man. The "I can see them" page is one hell of a mind fuck.
Fuck Brand new day/one more day, fuck everything about it.
But that page is based.
You dropped GL at the very last issue of Johns' run?
Wat.
>who effectively fucked all established lore
I don't know about that.
Sinestro is a nutcase, Maybe that is really what 'friendship' means to someone like that.
...I get it. I get it. I am not laughing, but I get it.
I miss pillhead Red Hood.
Ultimate Peter dying. I thought it was a 10/10 ending for the book and as far as I care nothing else came afterward
user, white men are the new demon. That's good. At least among devils there is a sense of comradery.
I dropped Marvel because of this, the next time I looked to what they were doing, there was some Civil War 2 comics. And I have never looked again at new Marvel comics, didn't even bothered to look if there was something nice going.
Maybe if you're 6 or if you had a lobotomy
Current stuff from the top of my head
>Batman Rebirth
The War of Jokes and Riddles, I read the Kite-Man Interludes but the rest of the arc as well as the following arcs can fuck themselves. Biggest turning point was The Gift, god the amount of people begging for King to write Booster Gold after that. Is this what Kylefags felt?
>Aquaman Rebirth
Sink Atlantis, ironically it's like the only recent Suicide Squad story where the Squad has actual expendables in it. God, I hate how current DC Editorial has no idea how to do Suicide Squad.
>The Walking Dead
Post-Negan, it was just getting incredibly tedious.
>Superman
Bendis, fuck that crap.
>Justice League
Ironically enjoyed Legion of Doom hijinks, but the entire book was basically Snyder going 'Look how OUTRAGEOUS this is', also Drowned Earth was pretty mediocre. Last issue looked fun though, might pop-in for that.
Basically this, I only bother to read Hawkman now.
This is a good page though.
oh she's black? they really are horrible portraying that in the series.
I swear I'm only reading this book out of habit and since I get it for free here.
oh my god yes. it was just awful. I haven't paid for a new issue of spiderman since this happened.
She's not black, you retard. I'm not even sure where you got that from.
cute
After a mediocre but not great first 3 issues they had a Civil War 2 tie in with issue 4.
Fuck that noise.
Whenever Kelly Thompson is announced as the writer.
So is the comic basically over now? Like three reoccurring characters died in basically two issues and google says they don't have a planned date for when it comes back.
did you just
>51
You actually missed a lot of cool shit. The current arc is interesting and I'm not sure if I would call it good yet, but it's better than the "new bad guys, time for war" trap they fell into.
I thought that was effective though. Fucking Eugine.
Action Comics and Superman when Bendis was announced as the new writer.
Still a better character than Daryl.
because it's turned into WORDS WORDS WORDS the Zombie Comic and the art isn't even good enough to justify being monthly when it's only ever like 17 pages.
I still read it, but it feels like a responsibility now. Like a loveless marriage that stays together cuz of the mortgage and the kids.
2000AD keeps me hooked better.
