Have you heard about Milwaukee?
>ecelebs
Yikes.
That's right user.
They laught at comicsgaters but also call this the blandest movie in the MCU, the first 20 minutes are about the Twitter drama, they say that Larson is a miscast and the character doesn't work, they say that she has no arch or developement and the movie could work better with a script like the First Avenger, Jay says that it is the first movie that he doesn't recomend from the MCU, but Mike is ok with it.
Very cool.
>This is the least important film in the history of cinema.
The also spent like 15 minutes calling Brie a prick.
I can guarantee anyone that says anything bad about Captain Marvel are two things:
WHITE & MALE.
You forgot how they said has a problem sticking her foot in her mouth.
ENDLESS TRASH
okay, but would I enjoy the film if I dodged all the twitter drama and clickbait articles? Is it ***fun***?
See
Pretty much what anyone sane expected after seeing the trailers. The character was miscast and the move is about as lame as the character. They should have just made that black widow movie instead.
I forgot to also mention that Jay masturbated times during the showing.
>Captain Miscast
Yeah that sums it up
Mike said it's only worth it if you're a diehard MCUfag who just wants to prepare for Endgame.
Jay said it's too dumb even for that.
Actually, I say the casting was spot on, it's just that Carol's a shit character to begin with, so getting a shit actor to play her stays true to the comics.
Wow this is cringy. What happened to these guys.
>but Mike is ok with it.
Mike doesn't give a shit about MCU movies. I remember in Black Panther he said "Fuck it, you'll go see it anyway"
It's fine which is all that most MCU flicks are. Not amazing or horrible. Fine. There's starting to be a problem though that fleshing out the Universe is more important than the individual narrative of a film and fleshing out new or old characters, though.
They laugh at it as it deserves.
>SHUT UP YOU ALT-RIGHT INCEL
>So Mike how did you like it?
>It was terrible.
They don't say she's miscast.
They say that Captain Miscast is an obvious pun.
And then they talk about how exposure to Brie Larson talking turned them against her as a person because she phrased absolutely everything in a confrontational way while also being tone-deaf insofar as she would talk about representation to a woman of color instead of playing the ball back and practicing what she is in the process of preaching.
Also Fury has a better arc than the protagonist, because she does not really learn much or change significantly.
Any given person you talk to in Wisconsin is more likely to be drunk the older they are, starting at around 16 years old or so.
t. born and raised here.
user
IN THE HOOOOUUUSE
>16 years old
14 here ...
Given the demographics of film critics, likely.
But wrong. There are a number of women who disliked it, too.
Turns out not everybody enjoys being clumsily pandered to.
>they laugh at comicsgaters
I think they basically say everything they were saying. They just add that 'bearded white men are fighting other bearded white men over this corporate slop'
I can pretty much imagine the whole review from this post and don't have to watch the video, so thanks, user.
Yw, worst RLM video un years
Yeah. It's real method acting.
Have you somehow missed that being the drunken losers from Milwaukee is their brand?
Well I've gone to school with kids who've been drinking since about 10 or 12 or thereabouts.
Also, when I first looked up "fetal alcohol syndrome" I could have sworn a lot of the people that showed up in image search I went to school with.
>"She's so perfect and boring"
Finally these hack fucks get something ri-
>"Just like Superman"
Fucking casual hacks.
>'bearded white men are fighting other bearded white men over this corporate slop'
I'd say that's probably the most accurate assessment of this so far.
Why do people take issue with RLM, again?
Nah, the comicsgaters are neck deep in delusion. They're still saying that the movie is a flop, that it is a flop BECAUSE it has a woman in it, etc. They also legitimately believe that Larson hates men and told them not to see the movie, whereas Mike and Jay recognize that she merely said a correct thing in the worst way possible.
user they saw a movie and judged it as is even with brie being a cunt. They didn't get hystarical about it.
>Why do people take issue with RLM, again?
DCkeks and /pol/acks think they're in league with Disney to turn the frogs gay. Normal humans don't have an issue with them.
Haven't they been shitting on the new star wars films pretty consistently though? Seems odd someone in league with disney would piss all over the disney star wars films.
How new are you? The most they know about capes are from movies.
They both openly do not give a shit about Marvel or DC. Rich and Jack are the only ones who seem to really care about comics, and even then most of their knowledge of it seems pretty entry-level. Jay openly doesn't really give a shit about any sci-fi nerd shit (going by his reactions of mild bemusement to Mike constantly sperging over Star Trek and has the most mild reaction to the Star Wars decline of the trio. They just watch these movies because they're guaranteed views.
Found the rat.
It's mainly because they give Marvel movies 7/10s all the time because they're the same cookie cutter thing but cast a critical eye on DC movies. It's dumb capeshit drama
>They actually fell for clickbait and literal who reviews as real controversy surrounding the film
>When about 90% of regular moviegoers aren't even aware of that shit
Fucking sad.
They take swings at TLJ every opportunity they get.
That's different because shut up! Shut the fuck up and let me dictate my own worldview you corporate shill!
They jerked off like mad over Force Awakens and then shat all over Rogue One. That kinda burned a few bridges with some.
No, seems like a run-of-the-mill Disney superhero movie, except the main character has no character.
Did I really need to put a /s or something for you to get the joke?
>How new are you?
Ironic
People just don't like them when they say something they don't like and do like them when it agrees with their preconceived notions.
People weren't this shitty 10 years ago. Social media literally made people more polarized.
>DCkeks and /pol/acks think they're in league with Disney to turn the frogs gay.
Actually, the problem most people have is you zoomers spamming eceleb faggotry everywhere.
I don't care if he agrees with every single opinion I have, I'm not going to watch your retarded youtube shit.
That's because the MCU movies are consistently inoffensively bland while the DC movies have been innoffensively bland at best, complete tire fires at worst.
The only funny thing about the Ghostbusters drama is the people who still try to die on the hill that 2016 Ghostbusters was good. It's like the shitty movie version of DmC where casual game journalists still can't get over people not liking their shitty reboot.
Mike
>the movie isn't good, but watch for continuity
Jay
>the movie is bad, don't watch
Even though I disliked Man of Steel, I wouldn't call the Superman in there perfect and boring.
I find it unlikely you need to watch it for the continuity.
>let's review every superhero movie that comes out except the one that's actually a good film just because it's a cartoon, which is somehow more childish for our dignity than live-action SUPERHERO MOVIES
What did they mean by this?
So what we're fucking Yea Forums now?
The marvel movies are cookie cutter shit, but they are so formulaic and safe that it’s hard for them to be actually awful. The DC movies are worse because they take risks and fail.
Well, you do need to watch if if you care about why CM is in End Game in the first place and unfamiliar with the character.
There's been a couple reviews they did I didn't agree with.
But even then I found them enjoyable.
Unfortunately it sets shit up.
It's the most bland MCU movie since the first Thor
There's nothing in it that's particularly visually interesting, the story is average, the action is mediocre, and Larson is pretty flat throughout. The only real redeeming parts are Jackson who seems to be having a pretty good time and Ben Mendelsohn who brings some genuine pathos. Third Act CGI is laughably bad at points.
It's a 1.5/5 for me.
>They laught at comicsgaters but also call this the blandest movie in the MCU
Those points aren't mutually exclusive
You don't think you could figure it out from the pager credits scene and her showing up in Endgame?
Maybe I'm giving audiences too much credit but the Russos are generally pretty good at explaining things just enough that you can follow it without having seen the stand alone movies.
They have been shitting all over every mediocre or bad movie they came across. And over hype culture "influencers" in their little cottage industry of lapping up industry droppings.
Despite their obnoxious veneer, these guys are very credible critics who are open about their likes, dislikes and motivations so the viewer sees where they come from when they dive into Italian horror classics or current block busters.
With their dialogue formats they also leave much more room for disagreement as a valid option, relative to the "one guy and his opinion" kinda critics.
I do as well but people are so polarized and need a hug box that any thing that conflicts with their beliefs is poison. It's fucking depressing and I say this as a 30 year old loser having to deal with people who just cannot adjust to different mindsets. It's just fucking depressing.
Superman's so far from perfect in that film that it's a problem
Nah all it does it Retcon shit for no damn reason. Just ignore it and you'll be just fine.
Unless they take up most the film referencing back to the Captain Marvel film.
Kinda think they will.
This is Captain Marvel in a nutshell. A soulless corporate schlop.
It's so funny. Like every reviewer I go to trashes the film, yet I know so many people who just defend it so much.
>being surprised someone here is autistic enough not to understand
They don't call him perfect they say his powerset is boring
I mean I watched Thor 2 so I'll probably get around to seeing it eventually but I'm pretty confident I can go see Endgame without paying to see CM in theaters or dealing with a shitty cam.
they say that the movie is just like if Lucas made Solo between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi
Yea he's super troubled which could have worked had that been leaned on more to be a story about him.
Probably white knights.
That's pretty funny.
This review might have honestly cemented Jay as best boy.
I completely agree with this. Neo cons won.
>these guys are very credible critics
You must be underage probably
Fucking end yourself Yea Forums scum!
>I find it unlikely you need to watch it for the continuity.
it kind of does but you can just read spoilers instead
>movie explains who CM is
>and sets up the skrull as the future phase 4 plot line
On one hand this is a pretty good post and I can see myself using it as copypasta.
On the other hand I just looked up the post and the thread barely got any replies and nobody replied to it, so I have to conclude it was your post and you really wish more people had seen it. So that's a bit sad, but congratulations, you got your wish.
>but they are so formulaic and safe t
The characters aren’t killing each other or giving a 20 minute exposition, this makes it a safe moviesz!!
>it's mediocre as fuck
SHOCKER
>these guys are very credible critics
Mike isn't after he ate up that shit fest that was Jurassic World and Solo but the rest, especially Jay are genuinely good and consistent
No, they just makes quips and snide remarks for 24 minutes until the next action scene begins.
you're either with her, or you're the enemy
Come on Jurassic World isn't that bad. It's a fun inoffensive soft reboot that makes sense in universe. It's not any worse than any of the JP sequels and it never tries to be anything it's not.
He wasn't even super hot on it or anything, basically he was just saying it's >fun
I suppose so.
Anyone with 60% of a brain could see what was happening; I thought the movie was pretty solid myself, but comicsgate and the like literally gave it FREE advertising with every video and tweet they posted. And as a plus, the SJW's are the backup to defend it no matter what.
I hope Disney employs these sorta tactics again with Black Widow and such, it'll be hilarious.
I think Mike has just gotten so cynical that he no longer cares what people do or don't watch. Half the time he doesn't give a straight answer as much as he goes "fine whatever, you'll watch it anyway" just like this review.
Well, Mike has admittedly pleb taste.
But a lot of people have pleb taste, so that's kinda useful as a point of reference.
>diversity is good but she said it in the wrong way.
>much black representation
I don't know why people are acting like Jay isn't still a fag.
>not liking Jurassic World
And I’m out.
How come they call movies bland and generic but then their script fixes are often the most generic, cliche things imaginable? As if their suggestions are going to make it better?
>HITB threads getting deleted on Yea Forums
>make one on Yea Forums instead
fuck you.
What the fuck, I love Jay now!
Doesn’t impinge on the truth of his words if they are spoken around a cock.
>It's mainly because they give Marvel movies 7/10s all the time because they're the same cookie cutter thing but cast a critical eye on DC movies. It's dumb capeshit drama
Have you considered that they apply the same critical eye to both things, and the DC movies are just much worse than the generic Marvel movies?
>Before Youtube and ecelebrities, people used to think for themselves.
You naive, sad little boys.
so what everyone expected, seems reasonable.
Jay and Mike are unironically based and redpilled
I agree I'm just explaining why. Most of their marvel reviews are
>Yeah it's the same movie but here's what did and didn't work
Go onto any Star Wars discussion here and you'll probably find someone calling Mike a TFA apologist because he said it was okay.
Would you a Fem-Rich that has a regular female voice except for the laugh and orgasm noises?
>They don't call him perfect they say his powerset is boring
That's not really any better.
Jurassic World was... inoffensive. It's not a bad movie, but there's very little that I'd say is particularly memorable about it.
We desperately want to be.
Honestly it’s a pretty fucking dumb post. 20 years ago people still had reviewers and it wasn’t like you needed credentials to be one. The poster seems dumb and the type of person to mindlessly regurgitate whatever fucking opinion they picked up from someone else, as I can not fathom how someone actually came up with that amount of original stupidty and can only assume they are using someone else's opinion in the wrong context.
I have unfortunately, and it's split 50/50. Some people hate them because they had a low opinion of solo and TLJ.
>Found the rat.
He's correct. Most of the hate for RLM is simply because a bunch of tards have been brainwashed into thinking they're on the opposite side of an imaginary culture war. DC fans have gradually become subsumed into this group to legitimize their love of garbage movies and hate for anyone that sees them for the dross they are.
>they absolutely shit on Aquaman
Yea Forums goes MORE LIKE REDDIT LETTER MEDIA
>they give a critical but objective review of Captain Marvel
BASED JAY
you're all hypocrites
wtf i want to fuck jay harder now
We ARE FUCKING Yea Forums now
I think that was a terrible review. The starting framing device went too long, the movie review was barely there, their fix was terrible and you could really tell that Brie got under their skin while they are trying to enlightened centrist shit on everybody with a opinion.
He does have a basic power set. Writers have been trying to add new shit since the silver age but it never sticks. Especially if your only knowledge is from movies
reminder that Mike genuinely liked Ready Player One and claps when he recognizes thing
Okay, but tell us how you really feel about Brie Larson.
>Yea Forums is one person
There's not much to say about the actual movie.
>and you could really tell that Brie got under their skin
And rightly so. She's a brainlet
It's amazing to be that a bunch of uncultured slobs are making money by poorly reviewing garbage hollywood blockbusters. The thing that bothers me is that their shit gets spammed for views on the cartoon and comics board. Fuck off.
The force awakens is okay. The last Jedi is a complete trash fire.
This whole rant was like a dopamine shot into the center of my brain.
The powers that be have succeeded in creating a culture in which they get to dictate the two sides of the pointless issues which they propagate in which anyone who tries to criticize the the basis of the conflict, no matter how blatantly idiotic it might be, is mocked.
This.
I like their vids.
And Captain America doesn't? And Captain Marvel doesn't? And Wonder Woman doesn't? Fuck off.
>people are spending day after day just talking about brie larison
I think they saw evs' channel because this is the second time they've laughed at his type of youtube channel.
Why would I listen to a janitor talk about movies?
You should have realized this a long time ago.
All that does is solidify the fact the SJWs are NOT the champions of the underprivilige like they keep calling themselves, just corporate stooges.
Review seems spot on. I feel like there are previous superhero flicks where they should have had all the same complaints though, like Ant-Man and Wonder Woman.
Mike never claimed to have good taste in film and tv
so how long do we have to put up with this shit? Because the longer shit like this goes on, the more I want to kill myself. Because soon you can't even order an ice cream without this nonsense following you around.
>Jay tries to have it both ways by attacking Larson while stating that he agrees with her ideas
What a coward.
Yeah, but what about Hilary's emails?
>They laught at comicsgaters
They don't even mention CG
If anything its Geeks + Gamers along with the typical culture war whores who have been the most vocal on youtube.
No, he says that she's making a good point but making it terribly. Which is a completely sensible point of view that apparently goes over your head (presumably for not being vitriolic and extreme enough).
>I have to always agree with a person/channel to like them
> if i don't I'm an hypocrite
man god forbid if ever discover all the media I like is made by people who don't share my particular world views
No, it solidifies the fact that everyone is an unwitting corporate stooge and /pol/acks are absolutely retards who have chosen the dumbest of hills to die on. This move isn't social justice but because delusional manchildren attacked it for being something that it's not, SJWs defended it for being something that it's not, and ultimately the manchildren lost because they CREATED THE NARRATIVE OF IT BEING A FEMINIST MOVIE BY ATTACKING IT AS AN ATTACK ON FEMINISM.
I rarely see self-defeating idiocy on this level. The morons attacking this movie created an enemy and then goaded that enemy into crushing them underfoot.
>just makes quips and snide remarks for 24 minutes until the next action scene begins.
If a movie hss quips it means it’s safezz
Her ideas are correct. Jay actually has a nuanced, mature position here. She is right that there are unfair hiring practices in Hollywood. She however went about stating this in the dumbest, most confrontation and awkward way possible.
>Implying the hatred for this movie wasn't 4d-chess astroturfing by the Disney corporation in order to have an angel to market their new product
open ur eyes sheeple
That'd make sense if it wasn't so vitriolic. The fact that it's not just disagreement but attacking is what makes it hypocritical.
>It's a fun inoffensive soft reboot
It’s a funsies movie! Like my childhood!!!
>Yea Forums is one person
Well yes, did you think Jurassic Park was some cerebral art piece or something?
What unfair hiring practises? She just wants more affirmative action.
And that should tell you that /pol/ is NOT the reason why Trump won. I don't know why people keep talking about /pol/ as if it's this dangerous group of evil murkers when in reality they're just the bizzaro SJWs of Yea Forums. (as in they're just as useless and pointless as SJWs and that it's the corporations who are causing all the suffering in the world. Right down to ruining entertainment and attacking fans in the name of profit)
no, asshole
20 fucking years ago, you had reviews AND THAT WAS IT.
you had word of mouth sure, but that wasn't a really popular fuck talking about a game for 30 mins on what would be TV back then!
FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!
Yeah? Jurassic Park is a theme park movie about a theme park. People like it because it's unironic and fun and dinosaurs are cool. JW hits most of the same notes.
No, she wants more people of color becoming film critics. Which Mike and Jay agree with, because having multiple different perspectives to look to when it comes to reviews in a good thing. They just recognize she worded it terribly by making it an attack on white men who hated A Wrinkle in Time.
>Mike isn't after he ate up that shit fest that was Jurassic World
I will never understand why he likes that movie
same thing with GotG 1 & 2, those movies are just a series of pop songs.
>ultimately the manchildren lost
Disney raked in the free advertising
Youtubers raked in the Ad cash
Those articles raked in the clicks
The only people who "lost" was all of us having the board cluttered with dozens of captain marvel threads.
>they CREATED THE NARRATIVE OF IT BEING A FEMINIST MOVIE
The Director called it a feminist movie
cosmicbook.news
He said that there's nothing wrong with more voices and more different opinions from different people from different walks of life including but not limited to race and sex.
Which isn't a terribly bad position.
The other hand of course is the way she phrased it sounded like she wanted less opinions from people of a certain demographic. Which is...inherently less different opinions.
Nobody liked A Wrinkle in Time
>Jay actually has a nuanced, mature position here. She is right that there are unfair hiring practices in Hollywood
She doesn’t really talk about hiring, mostly RT approved critics which according to her need to be less white males. Maybe open a blog and try to boost it instead of blaming men?
Dark Knight >>> whole MCU
Mike likes stupid, entertaining things and doesn't care of it's technically great
So more affirmative action
>Jurassic Park was some cerebral art piece or something?
The original movie was great. The reboot a horrible boring mess to appeal to low iq people like you and RLM
If you said Batman Begins I might tend to agree with you but TDK has that whole second movie that tries colliding into it in the last third that goes nowhere.
Whatever helps you sleep at night buddy
This is pretty much what I felt with BP too, although this one looks like an even more mediocre movie so might be even more egregious.
X-play debuted in 1998. Retard.
Exactly. THat's why Brie Larson's such an idiot. Pretty sure if you got a black guy/girl/whatever to review it, they'd give it a bad score too because it's dull, boring, and nonsensical.
The movie being great has no bearing on it just being a fun popcorn flick, which Jurassic World also was. Because none of the films from the first onward have any pretension about being anything more than a showcase of cool dinosaurs.
I mean it's just marketing 101. Ghost busters made the mistake of putting out a shitty title and then getting bad reviews. But it tried it's hardest. Disney only had to damage control brie larson's words with paid and free whiteknights.
I can't believe people are fucking pro-corporate in this day and age. Talk about wanting to be a fucking mindless serf.
This goes to fucks on both sides because only disney was smart about pro and anti captain marvel were just pawns to fuel the publicity,
Anyone with a brain already knew this.
>cosmicbook.news
>2019
We both know the hate train against this movie started long before then. The increasingly angry manchild audience was growing more and more bitter at Disney/Marvel and at the world in general and chose to attack this movie on the premise of it being feminist. The SJWs responded by fighting back, and Disney of course weighed in to say sure it's feminist or whatever, buy our tickets. The incelsphere turned this into a political slapfight that would generate money for the people they hate and publicly vilify them AGAIN.
>, she wants more people of color becoming film critics. Which Mike and Jay agree with, b
Nobody is stopping them from becoming critics. This practically reeks off “All white People are hive minds because they don’t like my movie”
>Pretty sure if you got a black guy/girl/whatever to review it, they'd give it a bad score too because it's dull, boring, and nonsensical.
In fact I'm pretty sure they did
No, it doesn't in the slightest. You're just reading what you want to read rather than what's actually there.
My problem with the Aquaman review wasn't that they shat on it, since that was pretty much what I was expecting, but that they kept contradicting themselves in the review, criticizing it for being too much like Marvel, and then for not doing the things the same way as Marvel does. It was just an unfocused and contradictory review that felt that they were too focused on the end goal of shitting on it that they didn't even bothered to do a proper review.
At least T'Challa is a genuinely likeable character and was set up properly in Civil War.
The argument falls apart pretty quickly if you just think about all the things black creators are making that are hugely successful at the least critically. Black Panther, Get Out, Atlanta, Sorry to Bother You, Spider-Verse, Donald Glover's entire career, etc would be getting panned too if it was just an issue of "old white men"
Yeah they did
It's barely better than Green Lantern and is only saved by having Samuel L Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn
The first movie was a well made piece of art. Jurassic World is a CGI badly directed boring film to appeal to nostalgic people
/tvpo./ BTFO
I think it has less too do with the nerds being angry at disney in general and more too do with the fact that we've already gone through the "you have no choice but too like captain marvel" song and dance. The people who generally get upset about this sort of thing were primed for outrage and Disney just happened to pick the most condescending actress in the entire milky way galaxy to boot.
>She doesn’t really talk about hiring
She does, she talks about the number of non-whites and men that work in Hollywood press and how they're generally not favoured.
>which according to her need to be less white males
She doesn't say this, she just says there should be more opportunities for other critics. What's she's saying is perfectly rational... the issue is the way she says it, and the tone she takes. She comes off as self-righteous and vindictive, even if she's not trying to be.
Still, I find it pretty despicable that people were trying to spin this as "she hates white men!" And stupid, because everyone else with a functioning brain can see that this isn't the case, so it just makes the /pol/ brigade look like liars and turns the public against them.
It's entirely possible to agree with someone while thinking they're a shitbag.
And that just proves my point. Brie Larson's a moron who doesn't realise that just because white men don't like something, DOESN'T MEAN the blacks (oh I'm sorry, PEE OH SEE) will like it.
>No, it doesn't in the slightest
It is. It’s the same as the oscars.
How is that even remotely relevant to the post you're quoting?
>indie horror streaming service
god fucking dammit jay, is it possible to be even more hipster?
Did you not hear that gigantic rant about corporate slop at the beginning?
Is he talking about Shudder? Shudder is pretty good and writing Joe Bob Briggs paychecks.
You reminded me of a screencap I saw years ago saying that Kristen Stewart was a good choice for Bella in Twilight because Bella in the books was also a boring piece of shit.
the trailers made it look like another mediocre MCU movie.
>The increasingly angry manchild audience
not just men, there's a lot of female youtubers these days.
Most of them liked WW too so really its Brie that they hate.
>The SJWs responded by fighting back
The SJWs called them incels and sexsist for thinking shitty trailers looked ike shit, there was no "response" just the same attacks on fans.
>political slapfight
who the fuck was talking about politics?
>DCkeks
Pro-Corporate aint even the word for it. They practically think they're family and want them to parent their kids.
>she just says there should be more opportunities for other critics
Nobody is stopping them. It’s just an issue because of they don’t review the movies as they like them to do. The same issues with the Oscars.
I have a problem with the term "PoC" in general and I can't believe it's seen as OK. How is just not for the convenience of white people as a catch all term for minorities? Are we really expecting a 40 year old Puerto Rican man to have the same opinion as a 16 year old Asian girl?
wait wait wait, so your telling me that saying "x community benefits from having more voices and viewpoints" is way better at convincing people than "FUCK WHITE PEOPLE"??
wow.
I only seen it thrown around on social media and by straight white "allies"
All the "POC" people I've ever known wouldn't ever use that term unless they were trying to juice some white people.
Eh, Carol can be any kind of character, this was the perfect opportunity to reinvent her. I'm hoping the based bros actually do reinvent her completely in Endgame, seeing as they seem to have the ability to write every single character in the MCU better than their solo movie directors.
If you think about it Carol was perfect as a feminist icon too. I mean, not as a fake feminist icon created by manchildren so they could legitimize attacking a movie and promptly get steamrolled by reality. Carol's never been a super great character but her history at Marvel technically has been fraught with battles against sexism - meta-battles against the industry itself being full of people that were trying to get rid of her. I mean shit, this is the character who was written out of the Avengers through being impregnated in a dream by her own son and kidnapped by him while the rest of the team smiled and watched, all because a writer hated the idea of female superheroes. Marvel could have really leaned into some weird shit with her and it would have made the feminist angle actually legit.
But nope. Skrulls bro!
It still makes me sad that so many people railed on James Rolfe. Guy is a class act.
even with just asians man.
no one can hate asians that another asian.
t.asian
To be fair, it's often thrown around in the context of problems that certain groups tend to share.
Why are you acting like the whole movie was "Fuck white people"? Sounds like you're a little faggot if you let a few off hand remarks startle you.
I thought it was kind of funny so many people got mad at him basically saying he just didn't care to see it.
I don't like the new God of War because the old games had bigger better set pieces.
But all the game journos ate it up for the father son dynamic.
>Listening to some user's opinions over a 30 minute video
>Agreeing without watching
You, my friend, are a fucking retard
>A summary is an opinion
>Dares to call others retarded
It's been weird see video games turn into the same thing as hollywood where there's actually a formula for getting awards if you have the budget.
it was because it was the god of war game journos had been pining for
>less violence and sexual imagery
>most violence is zombies, giants and inhuman entities
>even the valkyries seemed more like robotic ghosts than humanoids
that doesn't make any sense, the old games were heavily criticized for having a shit story and Kratos being a total non-character
And then DMC 5 comes out and the same journos lament that it's not a sequel to the arthouse masterpiece that was DmC, aka the game with a sniper abortion and I'M YOUR PROM DATE, FUCK YOU
The funniest thing about sniper abortion is Vorgil is actually the best part of DmC
based and Jaypilled
not that user but
the summary is wrong because he calls it twitter drama, in reality its a youtube thing that is reacting to news sites.
>The summary is wrong because he says "Twitter" instead of "YouTube"
So if I swap out the two words, then the summary is correct again?
No. I'd say Yea Forums is fucking us!
>They laught at comicsgaters but also call this the blandest movie in the MCU
no way fag
that will forever be thor 2
>they say that she has no arch or developement
I see so many critics saying this but I don't understand. Her arc was not about herself learning to change, but to accept herself when her leaders were telling her to change, to not be herself, and to surpress her potential even when she clearly doesn't want it. The ending of not having to prove anything was the pay-off. It's a story about self discovery. Are critics retarded?
almost
the first chunk of the video is them talking about their shitty city
I don't see it as contradictory, Aquaman did a lot to imitate the Marvel formula and it was better than the garbage that came before it like BvS and JL but it was still a poor imitation of the formula and the film had a lot of problems because of it.
Thank You my good man. Took the words right out of my mouth.
Twitter drama often spills over onto youtube with people on youtube whining about what someone says on twitter.
I mean, it's both really. Youtube and twitter and social media in general are always getting involved in dumb shit like this.
>tfw Brie was right about male critics
They spent more time talking about the shit surrounding the movie, than the actual movie itself.
Jay's the horror guy, is it indie for a horror guy to like a horror streaming service?
the only thing Carol fights is apathy and obscurity
Because as they said, the movie is incredibly bland and cookie-cutter.
But he actually brings up GotG and the pop songs and says at least they had some meaning to the character and not just inserted into the movie for reasons. And he's right.
The entire first part of the review is pointing that while that narrative was the goal of the movie, they did a shit job of it and instead of experiencing Carol's failures and traumas, we get snippets in shitty flashbacks.
There's barely anything to talk about
Yeah, not like I'd give a girl an orgasm anyway like some fag.
Honestly I haven't seen red letter media since I realized they don't know shit about criticism. Their video about The Force Awakens was prequel talk, said absolutely nothing insightful, and had more filler than unabridged Dragon Ball Z.
I think there was another video that put me off and I'm glad I can just ignore them. They're cranky old guys, who cares about them?
>It's bad because they're following Marvel formula
>Oh, and it's also bad because they don't follow Marvel formula
That was pretty much the whole review.
>implying you would need to be involved for Fem-Rich to make orgasm noises
She'd be humping those Star Wars toys just as much as the real Rich.
I hope you mean ironically best, because Vergin is an embarrassment to his namesake on a base level.
Marvel formula isn't so bad if the character is likeable
>that pic
face looks terrible, boobs are trash and the rest of the body looks like crap too.
who signed off on this?
Not any more than any other character
>they did a shit job of it and instead of experiencing Carol's failures and traumas, we get snippets in shitty flashbacks.
but we don't need that. We see her fail multiple times through the movie. She gets beaten by Jude Law, she gets kidnapped by the Skrulls (which by the way were fantastic), and we see her fail to protect Mar-Vell and get manipulated for years. The implication of "all her life she has been told to submit and give up" through the flashbacks are there, you don't need to explain the entire story of how she made a booboo when she was 7, because the pay-off at the end is that she always rises.
If she was a guy this wouldn't be a criticism
>it's better because they tried to follow the Marvel formula
>it's bad because it didn't do a good job at following the Marvel formula
>it's also bad because DC can't make a good superhero film anymore without trying to ape the Marvel formula
Are you really this dense?
>insulting Gary Frank
faggot
>Are critics retarded?
They’re not critics, they’re YouTubers.
>defending Gary Frank
retard
>defending scuffed work
cisgender normie
your point is that you're a stupid cunt then
don't tell me your favorite style is calarts?
>despite being the blandest movie ever, Captain Marvel is a lot of things to a lot of people. It's the movie Rotten Tomatoes doesn't want anyone to have an opinion on. The movie dumb, bearded white guys are protesting. The movie other dumb, bearded white guys are white-knighting. The movie Brie Larson doesn't want us to see. The movie that inspired a ton of cheap clickbait articles from terrible online journalists who have no idea how Rotten Tomatoes works. The movie easily manipulated, twitter obsessed weirdos have given a ton of free publicity to, by convincing themselves this corporate product is a feminist cause. The movie that had charities started for it in order for underprivileged little girls to be able to see, which benefits absolutely nobody but Disney. Buy these fuckin poor kids some food instead, you fuckers. It's Captain Marvel! If the movie is a hit, it's because society has become enlightened enough to celebrate a female led action movie. Finally! If the movie is a flop, it's because of toxic online trolls. Finally! No other explanations exist! Eat the multi-billion dollar corporate slop and pretend it's social justice, you weirdos! Thanks for making the world an embarrassing nightmare, everyone!
i prefer Carlarts

i just thought the movie was good and I don't give a fuck about the drama
I'm just sick that the youtube critics are factually wrong in some basic shit, as if they can't get basic subtext in themes and characterization, while also criticizing that the movie has too many things happening when it's one of the best parts IMO. Dunno why you would want a small-scale, stale story.
cheeky lad
Did people like the Doctor Strange movie? I feel like similar criticisms could be applied to that as well.
Yeah, somehow they liked it a lot even though it was basically magic Iron Man
I think it was ok. The humor was a little bit too much for me to be honest.
you didn't already?!
Every single reviewer I go to has shared my opinion about this film. Are women just that easily entertained to give this such high praise?
>there are only two styles of art: generic capeshit house style or calarts
Capeshitters everyone
no, its just the internet demands this Disney movie be treated like some important cause to fight/shill for.
They're all like that. Except for a few exceptions, it's hard to make a movie that'd leave you feeling disgust, following that formula. But they never make a great one either. It's safe and comfy and brings money.
Personally I'm burnt out - I stopped watching some of the movies in theaters (Dr Strange, both Ant-Mans. I wish I wouldn't have watched Guardians 2) but luckily there's just one more movie and we're done.
It's too "important" to the movement that women and white knights will never criticize it.
gary frank is far from generic
I don’t think I’m even gonna Endgame.
Someone I knew in real life was just gushing about the film, and I just didn't want to tell her my actual thoughts, but it's so fucking weird how people will just think any film that aligns with their beliefs = best thing ever.
Take away the glass eyes and fucked up mouths and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between him and all the other house style artists over at DC and Marvel. Drawing a bunch of lines on faces doesn't make them good, especially if you suck at dynamic action and panel composition like Franks.
frank is able to make detailed expressions, realistic faces and those lines give his art a lot of texture that many artists would dream to have
you're just a faggot with bad taste and you don't know what generic looks like
>Yea Forumsmblr on suicide watch
Gary Franks pales in comparison to the likes of Geof Darrow or Frank Quitely.
>broflakes
Twitter and Tumblr really need to work on their insults.
>broflakes
I don't even like these guys but jesus, how do you say that with a straight face?
