"Dear advertisers. I am disgusted with the way that old people are depicted on television. We are not all vibrant, fun-loving sex maniacs. Many of us are bitter, resentful individuals and long for the days when entertainment was bland and inoffensive. The following is a list of words I never want to hear on TV again. 1. Bra. 2. Horny. 3. Family jewels."

Same, but Yea Forums

>bitter, resentful individuals and long for the days when entertainment was bland and inoffensive
Sounds familiar.

And in 1990 you still couldn't mention the existence of gays on network TV.

So /pol/?

>Many of us are bitter, resentful individuals and long for the days when entertainment was bland and inoffensive.
So the modern era but replace old people with feminists making everything stale and inoffensive

There have always been angry reactionaries who were bitter at any kind of social progress or change of any sort displayed on TV.
In the 70s Star Trek got massive flak, for example.
It's just that these days the religious rally with signs and hand-wringing has fallen out of favor.
Now we have online hatemobs for and/or against everything.

But also astonishingly precise, civil and informed protest from the youth online.
Right now there are organised protests by mostly young people and tech experts contesting art. 11 through 13 of a new EU copyright proposal after massive mail campaigns proved unfruitful.
The protests argue that the law would be impossible to implement without destroying all online platforms of any meaning due to impossible standards for copyright liability making the hosting of any community content untenable under EU law. Meaning everyone in the EU would become cut out of YT, social media and image boards if the law was enforced as written, given the prescribed standards against copyright violations would be impossible to implement and algorithmic solutions would be unable to account for fair use, satire exceptions or even personal rights to one's own image.

Fox did not allow gays to be mentioned on their shows at all until Homer's Phobia.

>bland and inoffensive
except its never not this. unless you step into indy producer territory. if you think otherwise then youre kidding yourself, they only change the recipe just enough to make you think theyre doing stuff differently.

Uhhh three's company aired in the 70s

this was probably taken verbatim from an actual letter

You heard boomers claiming it was better in the clean, inoffensive days of Leave It To Beaver, yet there were lots of people (intellectuals and whatnot) complaining about how dull, insipid, and mind-rotting that TV in the 50s-60s was.

I actually agree because of all the TV shows from that time, Twilight Zone seems to be the only one that anyone still cares about outside of boomer nostalgia.

I Love Lucy

And black people were paid to be tv hosts all the way back in the 50s.

People have deleted the social conscience to convince themselves that we are better in every way to our ancestor, flat out denying the past. This is why we have people saying that black panther is the first movie with a black cast and shit.

Our current situation is similar to the victorian era, where people denied old advancements and claimed technology and concepts from the classical period was brand new, just to feel like they were better than the past.

Soon, we will be claiming that people couldn’t possibly kill other people with muske- Oh wait, shit.

Don't really hear it mentioned much these days.

It’s still quite popular and it still gets decent airtime.

>And black people were paid to be tv hosts all the way back in the 50s.
And Louis Armstrong was a beloved American icon back then too. W/e.

>The following is a list of words I never want to hear on TV again. 1. Bra. 2. Horny. 3. Family jewels.
Uggh, my mom in a nutshell.

>Many of us are bitter, resentful individuals and long for the days when entertainment was bland and inoffensive
Yea Forums, Yea Forums and /pol/ but replace "bland" with gays, lesbians and female characters.

>who remember the good ol' days
ftfy

>everyone in the EU would become cut out of YT, social media and image boards if the law was enforced as written

I fail to see why this would be a bad thing, the Internet Fortress Europe would only weed out retards and other worthless faggots that aren't either capable or willing to circumvent stuff.

I was legit shocked when they started advertising vibrators on TV.

This thread could have been good by adding words and phrases of various levels of being offensive, but you decided to bitch only for its own sake.
4. Moist. 5. Kumquat. 6. Fart

Look at 90s Nickelodeon. Barring a few exceptions, few of those cartoons hold up when you take off your nostalgia goggles.

Most 90s cartoons aren't that good

Does he remember when it used to be Chuck’s Fuck and Suck?

spot on
