I've been thinking while reading these threads; what is it exactly that makes Hellboy and Abe such likeable characters? When you consider the Plinkett test and all that other character measurement stuff I can't think of there being much to them.
Is it as simple as they are good people who has been through hardships but always gets the job done?

Attached: HB-CW-01-20.jpg (1280x1950, 594K)

They are both just simple people trying to do good. They've been through the ringer but always are willing to help others

Classic

Bromhead might be my favourite little antagonist and I wonder what became of him. It's rare to see someone actually competent.

Attached: HB-CW-02-18.jpg (1280x1949, 558K)

That third panel always freaks me out cause I keep thinking by capturing the demon, Bromehead has been petrified.

Man, with the added history, that last panel is so much worse. Cause if you're like me and read it the first time as a standalone, it's pretty comical. But now...

My grandma has dementia. How do you deal with such a thing?

I don't know. I couldn't. I stayed away until it was over.

So hellboy space is filled with lovecraftian abominations and the whole universe seems to revolve around earth and humanity

So what’s so good about the new world anyways?

Thanks for doing this.

Remember when we thought that was the end ? I miss those happy times.

My father had it. Early onset so he died at 59 and had it basically from 49, though it was hidden as thought to be parkinsons until around 52-54. Think Robin williams had what my dad had.

A very distinct description I remember my mother and I realizing when we briefly had him away from the house for a week or so due to surgeries is that insanity/dementia has a whirlpool effect. It is very easy to liken it to the 40k warp or usual cosmic horror cursed artifacts in how they warp reality around them, they drag those around them into its demented existence. It will suffocate you and drain at you, and unfortunately it definitely shattered me when I look at who/what I was before I was on the frontlines of taking care of him and what I became after.

One lesson my mother had from my father that worked great with her father (Like 86-88 so it was reasonable) is to play along with their delusions. Her sister would be freaking out about their mother's dementia (again, after 85, and after 85 your body and mind generally plummit) while with their father he would be antsy and anxious and trying to leave/pack his bags because he has a business trip or just has to go on the train. Mom would bullshit that there's a snowstorm (there is none) and they've shut down the trains. He'd say he'll take a plane, so she'd play along and say there's a hurricane coming and the flight got delayed.

If you confront their insanity and tell them they're wrong, it makes them more anxious and irritable and it wears on you. If you play along and redirect then it doesn't confuse them, doesn't challenge them and it will strain you less.

New thread everybody
Just doing my bit for Yea Forums

We live with our grandmother, and my mom can barely take it, I see her frustrated every day. My brother breaks very easily, loses his patience with grandma, and she's my dad's mom and the two of us are working together to ease everyone's pain, but sometimes even both of us fail. How can you help your loved ones through this as well? I try joking about the whole thing, and with my grandma, and with jokes I confront her with her dementia, and usually that lightens the mood. Dad seems to appreciate it.

How could I possibly help my mom and brother be more patient with my grandmother? I like how you compared it to the warp. I feel like my mom and brother got infected by it via grandma, and my dad and I are holding in there, but it's gonna take us too if we don't hold together. How can you make a united front? How do you stop it from all just falling apart at some point?

Both my grandmother and father had it before they died. Spend time with them, go with the fantasy. There's no bringing them out of it. Just try to make their last thoughts good ones, no matter what they are.
