Comic has been going on for like 2 years now even tho it was only planned to be one.

Using Watchmen as a scapegoat for your 5 year mistake

Wrong:
Concept, execution, writer, trying to channel Moore's voice, Rorsarch 2, Comedian inclusion and being saved, Johns trying to politics, out of character Manhattan, directionless and muddled

Right:
The joker mime parents were kind of interesting and his "power" sort of creative.

>What went wrong?
Johns is the writer
>What went right?
The threads are extremely funny and johnsfags are pretending the comic doesn't exist so the only people defending it are brainlets. Everyone involved seems to be retarded

Attached: Johns Wink at the camera.png (779x652, 741K)

>The joker mime parents were kind of interesting and his "power" sort of creative.

I haven't been reading, the Joker has powers? Which of the three Jokers is it?

>and his "power" sort of creative.
I stopped reading after a few issues. What are Joker's powers?

The pacing is horrible.
It's bee 9 issues, but it feels like we've had 5 issues worth of content.

we are 75% of the way through the run and I can't remember what's going on anymore

Better than Watchmen.

>The joker mime parents were kind of interesting and his "power" sort of creative.
Johns literally had to scrap what he had planned when internet guesses his retarded plan for them (being one of the joker's parents)

He's talking about Mime's powers, not Joker. He's just saying that Mime and that one girl are Joker's parents (even though it's just a random fan theory that makes no sense unless they get thrown into the past soon).

Now that I think about it Watchmen 9 was the issue on Mars so obviously DC 9 had to be set on Mars.
>What went wrong?
Compare how much went on after 9 issues of Watchmen and answer it yourself.

Doesn't Mime just have invisible gadgets?

>What went wrong?

They decided to bring fucking Watchmen into the DC universe.

We had an entire issue focused on the comedian is Punisher now and some villians hiding on a subway station. Johns clearly didn't knew where the story was heading, it's Darkseid war all over again

Wait, Watchmen were not a part of DC Universe?

Yes, but which of the three Jokers?

>What went wrong?
Having to tie into Watchmen
>What went right?
Somehow it still outsells Heroes In Crisis

Bravo Johns

>Wrong
Everything.
>Right
Nothing.

>Somehow it still outsells Heroes In Crisis
Because it has Watchmen characters in

>So we are 75% (9 of 12) into the run now. What went wrong?

DC editorial backing down from the whole concept is what went wrong. The only reason that series exists is so that Doc Manhattan can helicopter his big blue dick at the end and make Nu52 universe go away. There is no point anymore if they're not going to do it.

Fucking nothing happened dururing the first 7 issues.

I wish Thomas Wayne kept meeting Batman

It spent most of the story with the characters randomly running around sewers and Gotham. This is suppose to be the epic DC/Watchmen crossover yet most of the comic feels dull.

Johns doesn’t know what he’s doing and making up stuff as he’s going along.

This.

Right:
The new characters
The Art
Keeping the Justice League characters to the background
The page layouts
Some of the humor/dialogue
The Superman Theory
Black Adam's sanctuary
The inclusion of politics
The use of Dr. Manhattan, the implications that he is God.

Wrong:
Lack of motifs/symbols
The pacing
The deconstruction of characters
The pointless return of the Comedian
Adrian Viet's potential fake out tumor plot
The concept of putting the Watchmen into a superhero continuity, that's like making a Godfather sequel take place in the same continuity as The Fast and the Furious films.

Johns original Watchmen characters have been trash. Forcing in his own original creations to be actual Watchmen characters is so dumb and they got way too much focus in this story.

How the fuck can you plan a sequel to WATCHMEN, of all books, and not actually PLOT THE FUCKING THING IN ADVANCE!?

>Doc Manhattan can helicopter his big blue dick at the end and make Nu52 universe go away.
Never going to happen, although they let everyone think it would.

>What went wrong?

it was a bad idea from day 1

I can't help but feel like editorial kept fucking over Johns and he just stopped giving a shit along the way.

>I can't help but feel like editorial kept fucking over Johns
Why would you think that after darkseid war? please, justify yourself.

Don't you know? Johns' JL run was ghost-written by Jim Lee.

kek, i forgot about that.

I hope they bring Pandora back after this whole mess is over.

one issue every 4 months does not help maintain interest in a story

Did you mean to respond to me? I'm putting the blame solely on Johns. He should have spent a few years plotting out the book in minute, exacting detail before he even started. That's the only way to do the original justice.

t. Steven Universe fan.

Oh Darkseid War was totally his fault. Johns can't write the Justice League for shit. He CAN be a good writer, as seen with a few other titles, but that and Doomsday Clock have been disappointments. However I will give him some credit considering he's in a pissing contest with Didio, and probably gave up after so many delays

Keep introducing concepts only to later ignore it and never think of it ever again.

>There are three Jokers.....meh who the fuck cares
>Comedian was in the Batcave.....okay whatever
>Wally West is super dooper important to this whole event and remembers the past world.....fuck it remove him from the rest of the books
>Manhattan insta poofs anyone who notices him
>Johnny Thunder might remember? Naah fuck that too
>This clown couple might be Joker's parents
>Alan's lantern might be the key to everything, nah drop that too
>You know what? Let's just have a bunch of superheroes go fight Manhattan, who cares that none of them had even a theory that there was anything weird going on at all or knew he existed
>Wasn't Manhattan insta poofing people that noticed him?

It's complete and utter garbage. We are 3/4ths through the story and we barely know anything about the main plot since it's been meandering so long. So far, all that's been revealed is that Manhattan has been fucking with the DC universe and that he thinks Superman might kill him despite Superman only appearing in two issues with one being a flashback. There's just too many B-plots and the whole "Superheroes are actually made by the government" conspiracy feels like something from a completely different story line spliced in for padding. Then you also have bullshit like the JSA and LoSH being removed from continuity and the story ends up as one big bloated mess without any real direction.

>What went wrong?
It exists.

I keep wondering if the story is ever going to attempt having a logical conclusion at all. As the issues keep on going it really doesn't look like it.

But they keep fucking things up with each issue creates some huge revelation, only to not mention that huge revelation ever again in any later issue. Meanwhile another totally new huge issue is revealed, and repeat. We got three Jokers, Wally is important, Metron Chair is important, Thunderbolt is important, missing mime kid is important, Comedian is alive and knows truths, now Firestorm is all a lie. Each time something huge is revealed, it is never mentioned even in conversation again in any later issue. It's becoming too much to wrap up in the remaining books.

I honestly think I could have done a better job with it and I'm just some fucking yahoo on the Internet.

Johns is a bad writer with little to no long term planning capabilities, Frank is a technically proficient but creatively uninspired artist
plus, DC doesn't really have editors

Is Wally even in the story any more? The first two issues made it seem like he was going to be the one guy that solves everything by being the one thing Manhattan cannot really plan for or predict.

Mime and Marionette are kinda cool. Everything else is just bullshit with raisins on it

The delays were 100% on him. He had almost 2 years to script the series and he didn't.

the jokers thing is a black label book by him and Fabok
probably after nobody picked it up like they forced Robinson to deal with Grail and baby darkseid

Its "The Lost" model of scriptwriting: don't plan anything out in advance, just create more and more unanswered mysteries and have characters go WHAT DOES IT MEAN and then just shit out a bad ending when you run out of time.

they mentioned him last issue but probably won't be relevant

>DC doesn't really have editors

>hey Bob! put Geoff and Frank on the phone, i need to explain to them how Clocks work.
>are you sure Ben? It will probably take them 2 more months to fix it.
>You are right, fuck it, send it to the prints

Attached: Clocks.png (477x350, 168K)

I fully believe that was the plan at the start. Maybe not literally erase the Nu52 universe, but alter it until it resembles the pre-FGlashpoint universe enough to placate everybody's nostalgia while still technically being a continuation of Nu52. But it seems like only Johns was committed to it, and even he didn't have an actual plan of how to get to the dickswinging point. Then Didio got in power again and that whole plan of un-Flashpointing was just tossed in the trash as the first thing he did. And now there's no plan and no reason for this event to exist.

john locke >>> jack shephard

>I fully believe that was the plan at the start
No, that was a way to sell you the comic, it was nothing but lies. Johns doens't care about pre-crisis, the idea the same guy that came out with the 3 jokers bullshit, killed barry's mom, turned superboy into a psyco, reshaped captain marvel into a royalties friendly character and retconed parallax cares about the "big canon" is dumb, Johns only care about making his work canon so he can get shekels in future adaptations. But no one in DC wanted new earth back. Johns was mad about losing the JSA (his) and Superman not being married, or his favorite legion, but that's it.

DC fired all their real editors when they moved to Southern California so they hired a bunch of gay dudes with literately no comic experience

Didn't X-Files do it before Lost?

Anybody else feel like there's going to be another event after issue 12 that wraps this whole thing up ? Like a 2 or 3 issue or maybe just one big issue like DC Universe Rebirth #1.

We could have had it all with the merging of the timelines throughout rebirth but it feels like we're getting pushed towards another reboot.

>Anybody else feel like there's going to be another event after issue 12 that wraps this whole thing up ?
Yes, another 12 issues so we can tie everything up during 2022, are you braindead?

>What went wrong?
Having Frank as solo artist. For all the problems Heroes in Crisis has, at least the rotating artist team makes it so that the monthly schedule isn't screwed up.

>blamming frank

The initial delays happened because of him. Johns or DC are the ones to blame for the current delays.

I want a Mime and Marionette miniseries. They have staying power and potential so I'll give DC that. Best thing to come out of Doomsday Clock along with Black Adam's story.

Gordon will be the main hero of course , someone gotta Rape them

I kind of want to see Reggie become a Batman villain in the future. He's kind of been forgotten about.

The "Magic" and Captain Atom moments in the current issue were fucking great

>along with Black Adam's story.
How???
Magic being a code is pure hack

They decided to mashup a fuckton of different concepts and storylines but decompressed the book to all hell so nothing is happening while a lot of shit should be happening.

>fucking Watchmen crossover
>with several diverging storylines because why the fuck not
>JSA back
>LSH back
>metahuman garbage whatever
>something about psycho pirate?
>look at my fucking donut steels you dipshits

have they never seen anything but a digital watch either?

Even if that's the case, it doesn't excuse being lazy. How hard is to use fucking wikipedia? They have no respect for the readers and if we are honest most of the readers are absolute retards

>Rorschach 2
>Bad
He was the singular interesting part up until like issue 5 when they ditched his ass

>he is retarded! aaaaaaaaand the son of a minor character!
His identity was guessed the minute he appeared.

Or Heroes in Crisis is dogshit.

Isn't that how Johns normally writes?

>Johns is a bad writer with little to no long term planning capabilities

That explains how he got so far in Didio's DC.

It's not worse than this.

>How hard is to use fucking wikipedia?

Johns strikes me as a person who abhors doing research. He seems remarkably ignorant of anything outside of cape shit and junk food.

Tom King would just send Harley to beat up Manhattan if he wrote it.

To be fair, that was the artist’s fault.

Batman
No, it was Johns fault, it was the artist's fault and the editors fault. Do you believe something like that would had escaped Moore's attention? Pic extremely related, says a lot about the morons behind this comic, they wanted to do a watchmen sequel so they must undergo the same scrutiny as the comic they are trying to use as the selling point of this cashgrab

Attached: china.png (366x231, 51K)

Not before Manhattan spent 3 issues talking about his PTSD.

>That image

I think we can safely say that comic books are not art.
