Welcome to the Yea Forums art thread--you guys know how it works. show me your fanart, WIPs, concept art, redesigns... everything that doesnt go in the request thread or HYW.
Also, for those looking for a prompt to kick off the day:
>Draw your favorite Yea Forums character in a style different from your own. experiment!
oh shit user that actually looks really cool. im digging the look a lot, it may not be perfectly proportioned but the slightly-off vibes are intriguing. not sure if youre looking for crit but my one suggeetion would be the either soften the shading on the fabric more or block up the shading on the face. it would add some balance to it
Easton Carter
thanks for the crit user, honestly though i'm done with that piece, I put like 7 hours into it, just wanted to bump the thread while I draw some more stuff
hm, water based character? it says he has gills but i was getting more of a fairy vibe. it might be the overall shape or something but he doesnt look exactly aquatic. cute tho!
you did, I remember seeing it and it still looks good, excellent work frend
Brandon Evans
His people are basically the Deep Ones from Lovecraft. Difference is they make qt babies until they reach senior age. That's when they start looking like Lovecraftian monsters.
Not trying to be a dick or anything, but pretty much all of it.
Jace Myers
>vague criticism about "anatomy" and "details" >unable to elaborate Hate to break it to you bud but you are just a dick.
Oliver Flores
I’ve mostly been drawing furshit but I think I’m starting to get pretty good. My biggest hurdle is that I just need to draw more.
Luke Ross
ignore the anatomy is pretty shit but only in a few key spots, mostly from the waist down, and that should be a pretty easy fix. You really just need to smooth out the transition from ribs to hips (that tight sash is really fucking with your perception of the figure, be sure to draw the clothing over the base figure sketch. it'll help with placement.) the legs are misshapen but again you can easily just adjust the muscles and fix the length so they dont look so disproportionate. its looking good, user. just keep studying real-life people and anatomy, you'll get to a point some day when it all just clicks in your head.
in the meantime here's something i doodled the other day
Not him but the waistline looks really off, and the chest muscles don’t look quite right either. It doesn’t look quite stylized enough to be on purpose so it looks more like you just forgot people have organs.
Jonathan Garcia
Legs are a bit too long, Waist is too thin, that's not how you draw someone's ribs and abs, ehhh, everything else is ok.
Joseph Brown
Good to know. I'll give it some work
Isaac Perez
Posted these in the webcomic thread, but here's a sphynx cat character (and her older form) that I made for my comic and her robot partner.
What is an art trade? I see people doing them but never know what they are exactly.
Hudson Fisher
>person A makes a piece for person B and person B makes a piece for person A
It's literally in the title
Jonathan Green
I just don't get the point of it.
Kevin Russell
you get free art and so does the other person. its like getting a commission but you pay with art instead of money
Nathan Johnson
For me it's to get out of my comfort zone and draw characters whose designs differ from something that I myself would make. It's also a nice way of getting art of your own characters from an artist you respect or admire. Not that hard to understand
Colton Ortiz
i drew Peni i try to draw something everyday, i should really start from basics
Cool. Reminds me of marina from mischief makers Very good.
Noah Lee
The design isnt bad but just her anatomy is a bit off. Like the thighh/leg area im not sure whats going on (unless thats meant to be her raising knee forward to walk?)
Adam Johnson
Dat bulg.
Jonathan Cruz
>doodling >looks like official artwork for a D&D monster manual
Joshua Butler
A big thing to keep in mind is making sure your poses look balanced Contrapposto and all that
Jeremiah Scott
Drawing some concept backgrounds for the animation intro
that was the idea but i fucked it up and her skirt too
Mason Howard
You would think I would have that down by now, but hey, just gotta keep working. Thanks for the advice dude.
Adrian Allen
thanks dudes, you're too kind. it really warms my decrepit little heart up to be conpared to DnD works
Nicholas Richardson
You're welcome, and when I said D&D I was talking about 3.5 edition and above. NOT 1st or even 2nd edition.
I just had to clarify that. Have you thought of making a fantasy creature portfolio? Even if Wizards of the Coast are at capacity, there's still Pathfinder and an untold assortion of fledgling RPGs that I haven't looked into yet. Not to mention novels. If you know color then I could easily see you doing colors for novels like White Plume Mountain and whatnot
Ryder Allen
>doing colors for novels I meant doing covers. I'm distracted by the Chris Chan father call in a different tab. It's really encouraging to listen to when drawing, though.
This is very inspirational, I haven't explored any business outlets just because a cool floating head is the most I usually do in terms of this detail. It motivates me a TON to be seen in this light; I'll start focusing more on posing, expression, background, etc. in the hopes of being able to make covers and whatnot in a few years' time, thank you very much for your kind words.
