Incredible Hulk made $134 million across its entire run. Captain Marvel will beat that opening weekend, and by Friday had already beaten the entire opening weekend of Ant Man. It's projected opening weekend is a smidge higher than the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie and, like that movie, it'll probably make about 800 million dollars or so globally.

It probably won't get to hang out with Black Panther in the billion dollar club, but the fact that Yea Forums is focused on the fucking Rotten Tomatoes poll is the strongest proof of its success; y'all can't even pretend it's a flop.

Yeah if you don't want to watch the movie that's fine. However if your going to review a film you should judge it just as a film and not because of what actors have said and done. This doesn't just go for Brie Larson but also other controversial actors like Johnny Depp. Just judge the film on its own merits because hundreds of people worked on it and there are probably a lot of them that share your opinions as well as many that conflict with them. Films are a huge collaboration and shouldn't be judged on the personal life of one person even if that person is the lead. I actually liked what they did with Larson. I wanted Carol to be violent and barely in control, and I got that. Murder Carol is now canon to the MCU and I can't be happier. There's one really cringey 90s "girl power" type moment (cockpit line) but the movie isn't about feminism. Black Panther was a way, way, way better movie than Captain Marvel.

It's marvel making a grrrl power movie from a completely irrelevant C-list character (and I'm generous, her most important feat was having Rogue steal her powers) with the most confusing backstories; but they need a strong independent female lead who don't need no man, so they've been force feeding her to the entire comic industry for YEARS. And by that I mean shit like not allowing stores to pick up any of the popular books unless they order at least 20 copies of Captain Marvel (which stay unsold, but they don't mention that on the sales reports, inflating its position on the charts). Not really, that "not interested" function was useless to begin with, it's more useful to know who's interested in first place than those who aren't. Every movie, from Madea to Interstellar, had 99-98% "want to see" percentage because rarely anyone bothered to click on "not interested". It just served no purpose, and it was used in this case to try and "prove" that people weren't gonna watch this movie somehow. They had to remove it ages ago but it took this concerted effort to do it.
