I remember from the moment season 4 premiered, I was taken aback at how most of the episodes were so corny, lame, stale, and Nick Jr-esque, compared to 1-3.

It feels weird how some Zoomers who grew up with s4 are now lumping it into the "good seasons".

how many of those "look at me I dislike new spongebob" threads do we need? we get it, you're nothing special

its almost as bad as the non-stop "NOW THAT THE DUST SETTLED" samurai jack threads

The only reason people try and lump it into the "good seasons" category is because season 4 had like 3 episodes that were written pre-movie so they try and claim that it's still as good as season 3

Season 4 is 14 years old

>spongebob stopped being good 14 years ago
>season 7 was 10 years ago
A lot has changed since then but at the same time nothing has

The Simpsons is even more ridiculous when you think about it. People often cite The City of New York v Homer Simpson as the last holdout of of the golden age, and that episode aired 4 years before 9/11.

>2nd spongebob movie was 4 years ago
somehow it feels much older

Fuck off, S4 had plenty of kino episodes.

Krusty Towers
Have You Seen This Snail
Selling Out (possibly the best Krabs episode in the show)
Dunces and Dragons
Smart Patrick ep
Chimps Ahoy (quite possibly the best Sandy episode in the show)
Wishing You Well
etc.

Really, generally, S4 was better than S3. Sure, S3 had higher highs, but as a whole, it was pretty mediocre.

People need to stop this meme. It's not like the majority or even half the writers left after the movie. No, a lot of shitty episodes from later seasons were actually written by people who helped write some of the classics.

The real jumping off point for Spongebob should be not the movie, but the S05E01 episode "Friend or Foe", detailing the backstory of Krabs' and Plankton's rivalry. It's pretty good and is perhaps the closest the show ever came to telling a coherent somewhat serious story. It's a perfect note to end on, really.

I thought people universally agreed that Simpsons was good until somehwere in seasons 9-11.

What's more ridiculous is how Simpsons went from the fairly decent season 9 to the mostly bad season 11 in just 2 years.

Season 2 of Spongebob was the best out of the pre 1st movie seasons, prove me wrong.

9-11 are considered a transitional period by most, with season 9 typically being the farthest that people define the golden age. Typically you see people say either seasons 7 or 8 were the end of the golden age, with the City of New York v Homer Simpson being a sort of last gasp of the golden age that happened to be the first episode of season 9.

all three seasons are great there's no need to argue

It really depends on the person, some people say its 3-8, others say up to season 10 or season 11 episode 5 to up around 14, a few I've seen claim it's up until the movie. The show's been on for a long time, some people are fine with watching the episodes they grew up watching. Same with SpongeBob, i've seen some people claim the post-movie seasons were better than pre seasons

Zoomer here, I noticed the quality drop as well. Season 4 was still a lot better than what would come after though, to be fair.

I've seen kids who grew up with the seasons after parsing those and shitting on the early seasons. Yes they have the shit of taste

all of these were utter shit and i can't believe you put chimps ahoy above survival of the idiots or even fucking tea at the treedome.
>s4 better than s3
either youre actually retarded or youre baiting the thread

The season literally starts with Mr. Krabs losing his shell showing him very unpleasant. An indication of how the show would be from that point forward.

Survival of the Idiots is a better episode, but it's not primarily focused on Sandy. She might've as well been an antagonist for this episode. In Chimps Ahoy, she's the protagonist and she uses her positive character traits, such as intelligence, to save the day.
>either youre actually retarded or youre baiting the thread
S3 had a lot of pure mediocrity. The bodyguard episode, Club Spongebob, New Student Starfish, all three specials, Clams, Plankton's Army (seriously I cannot even remember this one, is this the "fellow miscreants" one? probably not) and probably a bunch of other episodes I remember very little about.

God forbid anyone have a different opinion then you user

I saw you, Sandals.

You know I've never bothered to actually learn which episodes were which seasons but if these are your "good episodes" then you've successfully converted me to the season 3 was the hard cutoff club
