Having a character designer be in charge of directing an entire game

You missed Yea Forums.

Honestly why did anyone let him be in charge of character designing?

Nomura didn’t want to make it and it shows too. I honestly think all the KH handheld titles were an excuse for him to not fully commit to a KH3 but please the executives at the same time.

I honestly don’t understand why SE is a horribly managed company. They should have just given KH3 to someone who cared. This wouldn’t have flown in America.

>What went wrong?
You didn't go to

Nothing. It was a fun game that was worth the wait.

made in japan

KH is Yea Forums newfags

Putting anime and Disney together.

it was too easy.
everyone besides sora. donald, goofy, roxas, and terra came out looking bad with kairi getting it worst
pacing was awful
disney made them make half the worlds shit

but overall its a good game and a final mix cn fix most of the bigger problems the way it did with kh2

In no particular order
>Too much emphasis on gacha shit
>Nomura coudln't contain his desire to get a redo on XV
>Disney meddling is ridiculously transparent
>The director self identifying with the bad guy leads to a lack of catharsis in his defeat
>Pacing is broken to the point of nothing happening for 80% of the game
>Some worlds actively get worse after completing them
>Postgame is nonexistent
>Combat is even more trivialized
>The worlds are fucking huge but ultimately just vehicles for mini games

The real problem is that it didn't feel like an real ending.
KH1's ending felt like a satisfying conclusion to the game.
KH2's ending felt like it wrapped everything up and showed that there could be more on the horizon.
KH3's ending left a lot of lose ends and felt more like setup for the next game.

there wasnt a lot of loose ends. like the box stuff is all one thing, demyx is another and what happens to sora is a third.

Why is KH the only series who’s combat gets worse with each title? KH3’s combat makes KH2’s look like a masterpiece.

>Routinley give the player tons of enemies with high health to high fight
>Combat is nothing but mashing X and pressing triangle for a super move

It gets boring fast. The jump button is useless too because Sora automatically floats to any enemy in range. Remember in KH1 where you had to actually time your jumps to get a hit in? I need to replay that game, it was so fucking good.

Because they really love zippers, belts and big shoes

My main complaint with KH3 is above all how Sora was written. I hate how retarded he is. This is our protagonist? A hopeless idiot who refuses to mentally grow up no matter what horrible things happen to him? This is a SHIT protagonist Nomura and it's NOMURA'S fault that Sora is so terrible. Sora is a horrible protagonist and yet Nomura says Sora is forever the main lead? What a bastard, he continues a continuous story with a protagonist who Nomura refuses to let him develop mentally that sounds like a horrible formula. You see it's shit like this that made me drop One Piece (I hated Luffy and couldn't stomach him being the main lead of a manga that has like a thousand chapters and ongoing).

But the real worst part of the equation is that Nomura is capable of doing acceptable at writing some characters like Riku or Roxas. It's just that because Nomura said he doesn't sympathize with Sora that he does a horrible job at managing Sora's characterization. Nomura doesn't like him and just lazily defaults on him so his leaves us with a protagonist who is written by someone who doesn't care about him and this same character is going to get the most screen time and the spotlight only to annoy us with infantile nonsense, bad dialogue, and stupidity and whatever conflicts Sora has he just resolves by "wishing" like how he learned the power of waking? Nomura needs someone to beat his skull in with brass knuckles. I hate what's become of Sora especially since I remember he didn't start out like a hopeless retard.

Two separate "mystery" girls.
Luxord's wildcard.

Both of these hit the main beats. KH2 may not have had the best story, but it did conclude basically everything short of Maleficent's future role.

luxord's wildcard is part of sora's deal. but i forgot about stalker-chan and skuld so lets make a 4th loose ends called khux shit

I mean sora did have his mind undone and redone while 2 other people were stealing his memories

Anyone have a list of all the stupid things Sora did in Kingdom Hearts 3?

>I mean sora did have his mind undone and redone while 2 other people were stealing his memories

Speaking about that, I hate how Sora wants to save Namine, the cunt who destroyed his brain. As far as in-universe goes I blame Namine for destroying Sora's mind and after that? It left us with the eternal kiddy infantile of happiness friendship moron who is incapable of learning anything or reflecting on anything. Oh yeah and if something is dangerous and you warn Sora NOT to do it......he will do it anyway because he's stupid. Sora is stupid and Namine in-universe is to blame. Seeing that cunt come back to life in the ending disgusts me (same to reviving the other clone characters as fanservice).

.hating that roxas and his gf came back and got to go to the beach with all their friends
shit taste

>Maleficent
You know, by time I had got to the end of KH2 I had more or less forgotten about her, but then they built her up in the spin offs and talked about her master plan, and spent a good amount of time in KH3 with her, so I had hope there was going to be some pay off, but no. Nothing. Just another lose end.

While I agree that Sora basically became a moron starting with II at latest and arguably Chain of Memories at earliest ("Do it, Namine! Erase all of my memories for no reason! I can still beat Marluxia without them!"), Roxas didn't fare much better in Days. Most of that game was him struggling to understand words while the real plot happened to Xion.

That being said, while Riku is my favorite protagonist, I'm not sure he could carry the series. Sora feels goofy enough to fit into Disney events while Riku is more straight laced. Also, Riku only really has two friends (Sora and Mickey) while Sora has the exuberance that makes me believe he'd actually befriend everyone he meets.

namine was forced to do that by marluxia and larxene.

Almost got it until the last sentence. The US is unable to mismanage a video game? Really?

I actually liked her and pete is days. after they got beat by a computer program they stopp picking unnesecary fights and just go in and out to find what they want

I remember him going "Unga bunga, Sora smash" with sensitive machinery again, which really pissed me off.

Nomura has no idea what to do with her if you ask me.

>I want Kingdom Hearts!
>I want Xemnas' castle!
>I want the datascape!
>I want the mystery box!

the datascape and mystery box are connected in that she thinks they will lead her to the book of prophecys

So? She still did damage and quite frankly going by how Sora has become seriously mentally challenged, I think the damage is permanent. Besides Sora has every reason to want to murder Namine. Would you trust a person who literally has automatic control over your mind (and the minds of those who know you)? I know I wouldn't. That cunt is a liability and all it takes is for her to be offended or have a bad day and she can abuse her literal Mind Rape power. A person that dangerous shouldn't be allowed to live. And besides shes'a freak show Nobody that shouldn't have existed even by KH's universe lore rules. So killing Namine is doing nature a favor. Cunt deserves death.

To the level of Square Enix? We’re to capitalistic to sit on a lucrative franchise for 14 years(while another franchise hemorrhages money in development hell for 10 years), give the next project to a guy who doesn’t want to finish it, and releases a half assed product.

If KH3 ended up being mismanaged in the US, it’s because executives did too much to try to fix the debacle.

diz what happened did ienzo betray you again

you do relize the disney worlds being so shit is all on disney right? like maybe it could have fixed some things but not frozen

>To the level of Square Enix?
Fallout 76 is such a hot mess that it's actually, literally, worth negative dollars.
Anthem will break your PS4 to the point of you needing to buy a new one.
A shitty installment to a franchise is way better than those.

Didn’t he try walking into fire in the first world?

I saw a good retrospective on Kingdom Hearts (1, CoM, 2, Days, and BBS) that pointed out the flaws of each narrative as well as what they did well.

I hadn't realized how sloppy 2 was narratively. Probably because I started with that game.

What does she want that book for again? I can't even keep track of what she wants at this point.

>I saw a good retrospective on Kingdom Hearts (1, CoM, 2, Days, and BBS) that pointed out the flaws of each narrative as well as what they did well.
link?

>What does she want that book for again?
because it tells the future?

Whatever, I'm finished with Kingdom Hearts simply because Nomura has made the protagonist tremendously unbearable. Heh, choosing to "die" when Mickey Mouse tells him not to do it and Riku tells him the other characters can help him save Kairi the useless twat no one in the fanbase cares about. And Sora rejects both Riku and Mickey and stubbornly as well as stupidly decides to save Kairi not caring about the consequences.

Xigbar was right to insult Sora in Olympus when he said:

"I'm not impressed by a guy who throws away his life forcing others to save him."

And look what Sora the idiot has done, he threw away his life and created a situation where the other characters need to save him...again because Sora didn't learn his lesson from Dream Drop Distance. Yeah I cannot continue the series with a shit protagonist. Fuck you Nomura, I'm out.

Disney meets Anime should really have been one game.

he was already doomed though from saving everyone the first time they died. he had already abused the power of waking and was going to pay the price irregardless

They're getting around to the other games. Coded is next.

Oh, right. That's a good reason.

>Disney doesn't want SE touching their perfect Frozen and Tangled movies so much that Sora isn't allowed to affect their plots

Seriously, entire scenes from the movies play out while Sora and the gang simply stand in the background and react. It's especially evident with Frozen. We weren't even allowed to have Elsa as a party member.

since coded is now the most important game im looking forward to it

yeah pretty much. originally the villain in frozen was gonna be an evil version of elsa's ice castle and you would have to storm it to save elsa at the center but it was deemed no good by disney

Well for starters, there’s no real focal point, the characters are spread out too much, there’s an overabundance of empty space in the center, essentially what I’m saying is that it’s not a good layout for boxart, it would work better as just a poster.
Also, there are no darklings in the actual game, and the clock has 13 o’clock, so those are inaccurate and retarded, respectively.

>there are no darklings in the actual game
dark aqua

Show us on the doll where Nomura touched you, user

The ending, at least for me, relied to much on the future rather than trying to wrap up the already tired narrative Xehanort

Attached: Sora-selfie-Wreck-it-Ralph.jpg (1160x653, 593K)

I'm curious what they'll have to say about Data Sora's characterization. I like him more than actual Sora.

Tangled's team at least let Sora and Rapunzel have chemistry and interaction.

For some reason, the idea of Sora hanging out with the princesses on a Girls' Night Out sounds like it'd be something good.

He's their gay best friend that's not really gay.

I feel like they'd just talk all night about his hair, then he'll win them over by talking about the heart and stuff

Attached: 1533839827458.jpg (3000x1227, 424K)

Someone should write this.

sora has already interacted with all of them except tiana and pocahantas and vanelope and only has interacted with everyone else outside snow white, cinderella, and aurora in their own world

It was basically a metaphor of Nomura:
>SE taking away versus because they want KH asap
>disney meddling as if this where a made to order game
>Nomura protesting by not putting a single FF character there and having the versus easter egg

They had to give him the FF7 remake as he wishes it to be in order for him not to leave the company.

How would guys have liked the series if it stayed simple as it was in KH 1 story wise?
>There is only one Ansem and he's evil
>There are only two keyblades (one for light and dark)
Personally, I've recently been working on a story in my head that, if the series stayed to its simple roots, how different things could be. One of my favorite ideas is to have Ansem's students (remember, he's evil in this version) be some of the main villains from the Final Fantasy games. Maleficent's Disney villains with Ansem's Students, two groups going for their own goals, with poor Sora stuck in the middle have to fend them off.

At first I thought that Arendelle was the worst because it's just a recreation of the movie and there's no impact the player has at all so it's just the most filler its ever been.
Now I realize that Kingdom of Corona is the worse of the two because Rapunzel leaving your party means that level actually gets more boring once you beat it since you no longer have the hair swinging or team up command.

What you just descirbed is miles better than what Nomura pulled out of his ass for almost two(2) decades.

that wouldnt have given us xemnas and his amazing voice so its shit

he didnt even know he was working on 7 remake until they announced it at e3 with him directing

Because he has more chemistry with them than Kairi.

Versus was in production for 2 years lad, it never got in production hell.
He just conceptualized it on 07 and was waiting his turn for the studio to work on it.

>that's not really gay.

>Versus was in production for 2 years

Shut up, Nomura.

He didnt want to do KH3 and it shows lad.

They gave it to him on silver platter because he was going to quit the company after KH3.
Hence why he told cyberconnect2 to fuck off and started the game from scratch in-house. He is like the only celeb dev left in SE. love him or hate him it is true.

The truth hurts right?

Make Organization XIII better characters (and keep Axel evil) and I'd be down.

Though, there were three Keyblades in KH1 if you count the one made from princesses.

How so? Remember, in this version the whole concept of Nobodies isn't a thing. Evil Axel does sound cool, but I'm drawing blanks.

I despised both of those worlds because they picked popular movies at the cost of REALLY boring landscapes

They'd probably all gasp when they hear him talk about Kairi when all he drones on about is Riku

It came out too late. This is what happens when you spend 13 years padding out a story passed its expiration date with nothing but mediocre handheld games. Most of the original talent has either died or moved on. So what you're left with is a director that makes everything up as he goes along with no one there to filter out his retarded ideas.

>since coded is now the most important game
No that's X.

Just finished the Monsters Inc world, definitely a step down from the earlier games. My main gripes so far are the combat and story.
>combat
The combat is boring. There's a lot that you can do in combat but ultimately you just spam attractions to instakill everything.
>story
Monstropolis is the 5th or so world and I actually do not remember what the plot of this game is. Basically you just go to a world, dick around for a while and them some organisation XIII guy comes and says "hahaha you are playing straight into our plans!" and then runs away. Despite the complete lack of story, you can't go 5 seconds without a 20 minute cut-scene of no importance.
