Then how do you know how to work Yea Forums and not google. We don't need more spam here
It stars a woman and we hate women.
Because dumb people are screaming that you either love it, or you're a bigoted incel manchild who hates all women and should be killed.
Please stop making threads. There are dozen up already
Sad but true.
And Niggers
Honestly? Because it’s just a bad movie. Just torrent it and watch it yourself if you’re curious
Never going to happen Yea Forums has been BTFO again and it's going to be MONTHS before they stop having their temper tantrum
It's Black Panther all over again
Brie Lawson is a cunt, both through interviews and how she presents herself, any criticism against the movievis viewed as antagonistic or woman hating.
Someone post the Thinking of Stan Lee thing.
/pol/ is brigading it because there's a woman in it. They go after every movie that isn't mostly white guys except for anime or that they don't consider a "Republican" enough movie. That's your answer from now on.
They also hated BP and Spiderverse because black people, the new SW movies because black, Hispanics, asians and women in it. There's plenty of real things to criticize but /pol/ doesn't watch these movies, they hate them because of politics/not Nazi enough and bomb the fuck out of them before they come out. It's become more obvious lately because they start extensive smear campaigns before the films are even finished so it's crystal fucking clear what's going on.
I literally searched it on google and lo results don’t explain anything
I was watching the max steel movies I don’t know what the fuck happened I just know people boycott her or whatever
I don't hate it, but I was disappointed. The protagonist was bland and had no flaws or character development, the plot, with the Kree/Skrull war and the lightspeed engine, was poorly explained. And the action was lackluster. It felt heartless, like it was just going through the motions. There wasn't even a semblance of a theme beyond "women are powerful," which is fine, but comes off as dishonest when the protagonist never actually struggles. The only development Carol gets is going from "more powerful than any Kree or human" to "even more powerfuler than any Kree or human and can also fly and survive the vacuum of space unaided and destroy alien battleships singlehanded."
I'd give it a Thor: The Dark World/10.
hating it implies there is enough substance to it to find it offensive, it's more that a PR firm is trying to trick idiots into seeing it by claiming it's making some statement about female autism or something like that.
yeah man it's all those nazis, if we don't give disney our money hitler wins
Simple, outside the trolls and shit
For some they don't like how it feels forced down everyone's throats politics-wise
For others it's because it has women and they get triggered every time a pussy is on screen
what's wrong with this photo? Why does it make you so mad spicanon?
The theme wasn't about women. It was that you might need to question what you've been led to believe. Sometimes your enemies are not the "bad guys" and you might be wrong.
The movie is fine, but I just don't want them to Deus Ex Machina Endgame by them sending in Captain Marvel to come beat up Thanos and save the day.
From what they've said, CM is the canonically most powerful in MCU, so it's making me nervous. I'd hate for all that build up we had to get killed from someone we JUST met.
They're gonna fuck up Endgame aren't they?
lot of fans don't seem to like how they're selling her as this super important super powerful super awesome amazing hero right before the MCU climax, honestly it would have been universally panned if she were male we'd get a lot "what's the point of this character" but since she's female the point is she's the """"""first"""""" female hero. normies seem to think she's just there to replace Captain America, based off her design firstmost.
Some user in a thread somewhere said that the best possible ending we could get was if Endgame gassed up Carol's power, only for her to get her shit kicked in by Thanos, and have Nebula kill him instead. It would be a perfect conclusion to her character arc.
I don't think we have too much to worry about. She's just going to be the flying brick able to take more punishment than Cap and Tony just like Thor. Her primary use will probably be absorbing all energy projectiles from The Infinity Gauntlet
How to remember a dead friend 101:
>post pic of yourself
>shove designer sneaker into camera
>place handbag of your own fashionline in shot cause you know this post will be seen by a lot of people
>wear weirdass designer gopnik uit and sunglasses

hmmm
>people didnt like it because the trailers where all girl power men suck
>they went to rotten tomatoes and clicked on dont want to see
>rotten tomatoes took the dont want to ser option away because people who didnt want to watch it where saying they didnt want to watch it
>everyone got pissed off at a shitty website removing user friendly options to appease a massively shitty corporation
>somehow tumblr thinks this still is about feminism
I like the movie, but there are some things that confuse me.
Is there a valid reason why Fury wouldn't have called upon her in Avengers 1?
Where does her title (the title of the movie) actually come from? Is she a Captain? Is that stated? There are some blanks we have to fill in that I feel like we shouldn't have to fill in.
In GotG, Ronan calls Quill "mortal". Are Kree not considered mortal?
Some other things, too, but I can't remember them all.
>It was that you might need to question what you've been led to believe. Sometimes your enemies are not the "bad guys" and you might be wrong.
Fair enough, but I still think it rings somewhat hollow. The Kree/Skrull situation was poorly explained and the only reason Carol finds herself in a situation where she needs to question what she's been told is because she was abducted and brainwashed. It's really more of a psychological thriller plot than a superhero one and I think fit poorly because the movie doesn't really have the time to explore it between all the superhero stuff. We never see Carol actually grappling with these themes, she just kind of rolls with the plot. When Talos shows up and needs the plot to swing in his favor, Carol just kind of goes along with it after some brief exposition.
Nah man Disney would support Nazis if it benefitted them and giving them your money is not "good." But since Stormfront piled into /pol/ it changed from Libertarians to Nazi elements (and /r9k/ elements). Though the reddit T_D flood is changing it again now.
But really it's not so much Nazi right now as a cult of victimhood, but now twist, white males are the victims! It's about as dumb as all victimhood cults are.
I don't think we'll see Nebula wield the gauntlet. At best she'll sacrifice herself to ensure Gamora and the rest come back from the dead
didn't like that The Avengers Name comes from her callsign, that was a bit heav handed
>In GotG, Ronan calls Quill "mortal". Are Kree not considered mortal?
It's not technically canon but in the dance-off blooper Quill says that Ronan has Celestial blood.
She's the "wrong kind" of female superhero, basically. People like to point to other movies like Wonder Woman which didn't get review-bomb brigades as evidence it's not sexism, but this ignores that sexists don't necessarily want all women to suffer, many of them are simply have specific expectations of how women are supposed to be. Carol is brash, aggressive, cocky and doesn't take shit, and that threatens weak men.
Yeah that's a fair criticism and true. It would have been a much better movie if they'd been willing to diverge from the formula and make it more of a psychological thriller. The paranoia could have been great.
>The extremely on the nose feminism at the beginning.
That kind of shit is why feminism in mainstream media gets hate. I'm glad it wasn't littered allo over the entire film.
Stop painting men as bad guys, men can be dicks. This isn't fucking news.
Maybe instead of having the very stereotypical
"young girl looking up to a female hero" bullshit, they should of had a young boy looking up to her or both!
The entire film is very by the numbers and okay at best. Please don't make her the new centre of the MCU though. T'challa would make way more sense.
Disney hired a stupid bitch who opened her mouth instead of smiling for the camera. They produced a mediocre film that rethreads the same formulaic superhero origin story. Combine both and you will get it.
That scene was some of the most blatant forced foot fetish shit I've seen since Joss Whedon
Marvel made me hate Carol when they made her Captain Marvel and try to mouth-feed me with "New Captain Marvel is the best superhero ever" so there is no way I am going to watch the move either. Do not hate the movie because I did not see it but there is no fucking way I will pay a ticket to watch a superhero movie of a character that is fucking cancerous on comics.
Because people on the internet think that just because they don’t like something, they think that thing they don’t like is shrouded in some cabal conspiracy to be shoved down their throats.
When in reality, they are so obsessed with the movie they don’t even realize their unhealthy obsession with hating it for no reason other than their delusional thoughts.
I'm gonna get on my small storytelling soapbox here.
For whatever reason, it is extremely rare to have a story where a boy looks up to an older female mentor. It's just not a thing that happens frequently, which is baffling considering how often the opposite happens.
had the wrong pic
enjoy fungus foot
>Carol is brash, aggressive, cocky and doesn't take shit, and that threatens weak men.
you just described Diana too, and yet everyone loved that movie
doubt the problem isn't her personality but rather moreso how she fits into her respective setting
I haven't seen the movie but I am curious how good Larson's performance was
youtube.com
So is a shitty character glorified as a hero?
Arrogant assholes are not good characters.
People who like them are just weak idiots that want to self-insert.
People forget that there were constant complaints about Wonder Woman here when it was in production and first came out, the hate campaign just hadn't coalesced yet (that whole subsection of the Internet is more developed now). But there are other minor things, like Wonder Women has been a well known cultural staple for so long everyone is used to her, she debuted in BvS instead of her own film, and the actress didn't make comments clickbait could twist around. The closest thing was that women-only WW showing.
>that mid credit scene
yeah she's gonna be the deus ex machina, isnt she?
I thought the feminism was surprisingly subtle. I expected them to specifically paint Jude Law as sexist or something but they didn't. It was more of a "don't let people tell you that you can't do something, just keep getting back up until you do." Which is undoubtedly a feminist angle but they didn't really call attention to it as such. I think the closest they got was the cockpit joke and Maria telling Talos not to call her young lady.
That's what they keep painting her as in-universe, but there's basically zero chance that's the case in the movie.
Basically all the trailers and this scene are only showing the first 20 minutes of the movie.
>I haven't seen the movie but I am curious how good Larson's performance was
eh pretty wooden, lots of sassy quips...lot of scowling
Forget Yea Forums this place is becoming more like Yea Forums
I thought the asshole biker part was a bit heavy handed too and didn't really pick up on the msg of keep getting back up until the montage at the end.
Plenty of male heroes are brash, aggressive, cocky, and don' take shit. It's when a woman displays those traits that insecure men start feeling uncomfortable.
This!
No, there's no way in hell. Tony will play the main and biggest role bringing Thanos down, and probably die doing so. That's obvious. The next biggest role will probably be Cap followed by other core Avengers (Thor etc.). Everyone including Carol will have something to do, but probably not much.
Even the paid reviews had rated it 81%. Must be really bad.
Because too much pr with too much "stick it to them" attitude with exxageration with too much overhyping.
This thirsty hamfisted "this movie must succeed at any cost and shame critics" from their pr group just produced anti-hype and contradictonary user.
I disliked Carol because she had no flaws. Even the greatest of human beings, male or female, are flawed. Let her be brash, powerful, and confident, but balance it by having her hot temper get her in over her head. Even Captain America suffers from doubt and has a weak spot in the form of Bucky that can be exploited.
Fuck off cunts, some of this thread is an actual discussion (I know right?!)
Can we not always have you wankers saying "it's just man babies" or "it's just feminists".
Just fucking once?

If a movie is over 75%, chances are it’s a decent movie with some issues. If you can’t put shit aside to try and actually enjoy movies regardless of their RT score, you might as well be a miserable sack of cynical waste.
This movie is so fucking bad that any part of it, that could be potentially called feminist, would barely make a dent to its over all quality.
It's shitshow of the highest order. I am not even sure if you could salvage half an hour of good movie out of its two hour runtime.
The emotional scenes drag on and on, while the hapless watcher hopelessly awaits for a scene to wake him from his stupor.
Also the music was so fucking shit.
Thor - 77%
Captain America - 80%
Iron Man 2 - 73%
Iron Man 3 - 80%
Thor 2 - 67%
Age of Ultron - 75%
Captain Marvel - 81% --- MCU IS DEAD!!!
It's funn how she pretty much became the character she played in Scott Pilgrim
Those traits are not glorified. All the said heroes had to learn humility one way or the other-Thor, Tony, even Diana had to.
CM is a bland mary sue with flaws that are never mevento affect her because she serves only one purpose- self insertion.
It's not exactly what you're talking about but I thought it was nice that the GOTG movies played up Peter's relationship with his mom so much. She only has one real scene in each movie but what little we see of her character reverberates throughout the movies in Quill's character. Gunn took something that in the comics was basically just an excuse to get Quill into space and was promptly resolved and dropped and made it a central character trait.
Nice try shill. Never trusted paid reviews since TLJ.

This is the most damage controlled MCU movie I've seen since Thor: The Dark World. The Disney shills are in desperation mode, and it's hilarious what lengths they'll go to.
No amount of self-reassurance will EVER "fix" this movie. It was a complete abomination, and the defenders know that deep down in their hearts.
1. Brie Larson is an unlikable cunt.
2. She has foot fungus
3. The effects and production value of the movie is shitty compared to any of the previous MCU film. literally CW show worthy.
4. It's super fucking feminist, and feminism can go to hell
5. Disney is pulling out all the stops in corporate espionage to try and get this movie working including changing youtube's algorithm, forcing Rotten Tomatoes to remove a feature, and using Stan Lee's twitter account even though he's already dead
6. Captain Marvel is a Mary Sue.
Her flaw is blind nationalism to the Kree Empire.
Which also makes it insanely ironic that she takes the colors of the US Air Force.
It is basically Marvel's Green Lantern.
Now post their user reviews
This is sadly accurate, I do miss Carol from the Ms Marvel run when she wasn't perfect all the fucking time.
Thats something i will never understand. Why not closed shoes.
Why not use toe covers or skin colored toe protection.
audience score and top critics score is all that matters. And Captain Marvel has one of the lowest top critics scores.
Quit making this stupid comparison, casual
OP asked about the "controversy" which started before the film came out. The biggest reason for the anger was the Brie interview comments, that's it, and earlier "REEEEE a female lead." From those who actually watched to movie, I see barely any or no "hate." There's a lot of eh it was average, it was okay, it was boring, or good but not the best. The hate is all the stupid culture war shit.
I think the brainwashing element is there to absolve her of that.
The fact that there's a picture at all is so mind bogglingly disrespectful. "A person died today. Here's how I look thinking about that fact. Also, I had someone else take the picture for me, because I didn't want to strain myself taking a selfy."
All she had to do was not have a picture and no one would have realized what a cunt she is with that tweet. She must have done it on purpose as a way to say "An old white man died, WGAF?"
I forgot about that part but to be fair bikers are faggots of the highest order
Maybe Brie should stop being such an annoying self absorbed social justice warrior then.
Carol is a fascist full-stop. That's her flaw. Followed by the drinking.
>Her flaw is blind nationalism to the Kree Empire
but she was brainwashed and indoctrinated to have that, it's not really her flaw
Funny how well this comparement fits.
followed by being very angry and always destroy property without reason in this wake.
Things I liked:
>Mendelsohn/Talos
>Jackson
>cameos from Ronan and his right hand man
>the scene where she thinks the neighbor is Talos
>the cat
>Jude Law
>Annette Benning as the supreme Intelligence
>fight scene in the train
Things I didn't like:
>The Skrull twist
>most of the heavy handed feminism stuff "Cockpit"/Biker scene etc
>most of Brie Larsons acting, don't know if it's the role but she has got like 3 facial expressions
>the costume in it's mohawk form
>the music was entirely forgettable
It's not you samefagging casual. Autocorrect fuck you over did it?
>People forget that there were constant complaints about Wonder Woman here when it was in production and first came out
Not really, people were laughing at DC, and expecting another critical disaster. People weren't really up in arms in the same way, even with the women-only showing, which was largely ignored after the initial indignation. When Brie made her comments, a subsection of people on this site would not fucking drop it at all.
Avengers 1 will probably be shrugged off as Fury wanting to see if his newly formed team could handle which I guess makes some sense but still comes off a bit weak.
I'm more curious why Carol never stepped in to stop Ronan before the GotG considering part of her mission is to stop Kree warmongering and Ronan seems to be one of the most well known Kree warmongers, AND she's run into him before.
I think a person who doesn't regularly reconsider what they believe or self-verify but just mindlessly follow along, especially with such conviction and enthusiasm, is really dangerously flawed. That's no excuse. You could use that to excuse the Soviets or the Third Reich, too.
Bad PR+Mediocre movie=Hate
I still feel bad for Temuera Morrison for being in that
It may not be her fault, but in storytelling terms, that is her flaw that she overcame.
Also, she was too emotional or something. Didn't really see that.
this. If you can't say it's her own fault for being that way, then it's not a flaw.
Prime examples:
>The Disney shills are in desperation mode, and it's hilarious what lengths they'll go to.
Assumes some sort of Disney fan boy. I live in Orlando bud, I’m so jaded to Disney bullshit I could not care any less about this fucking company
>Nice try shill
Yes, I’m a shill because I don’t give a shit about Rotten Tomatoe scores as much as you do. Sperglord
Based and Redpilled
I mean I do think it's funny that Feige said her origin in the comics was too close to Green Lantern but by changing it they actually made it even closer to Green Lantern. Mar-Vell is reduced to a supporting character who exists to die and empower Carol, she is taken into the fold of a group of elite space warriors by Yon-Rogg, in effect her Sinestro. The starkest difference is that the Kree are cunts and are deceiving her for their own ends.
she was literally brainwashed though. Not figuratively by propaganda, but literally.
Same reason why Peter Parker never helped during the alien invasion of New York. It was retcon.
Nah. I just remember posting about Godot's Israeli accent and her being a skelly. Nobody was mad about anything but the women-only showing.
I agree with everything minus the neighbour scene, that felt like padding for a runtime a bit. Maybe it wasn't, just felt like it.
And I actually loved the costume.
First no, second no, i am just drunk and bad at grammar
something tells me she wasn't actually thinking about stan bros
Based
You miss the point, it doesn't depict her as bad, only the kree for brainwashing her into their ideologies.
>"Cockpit"
they really couldn't help themselves from making a quip about that, couldn't they
>the music was entirely forgettable
I actually was taken aback by how bland it was. Marvel films have a reputation for this, but this movie deserves that more than a lot of them. I was forgetting the musical score when I was watching the movie, not even after it.
Granted I'm thinking of Yea Forums and /pol/ too but there was a lot of Gal not looking like a warrior and of course some good old fashioned "Jews." I agree they or especially Yea Forums wasn't as bad then though. But there was a lot of whining people have forgotten now.
Pretty sure in Civil War Parker says he's only had his powers for 6 months so he probably didn't have his powers in A1.
>I-I'm drunk
Right, underaged joke. I might not like Carol, but don't say stupid shit
The actress hates white men so much she personally funded a study to prove there were more white men than other groups involved in film criticism. She then demanded that white men be replaced by women and minorities en masse. She openly fantasizes about assaulting men she sees in public. When a guy at the gym tried to compliment her by saying she could lift something he couldn't she made some snarky remark about how he has to reevaluate his gender norms. She complained that 'A Wrinkle in Time' was reviewed by white men even though it's "not for them".. even though the characters in the original book the movie is based on were white. As far as the content of the actual movie, it is aggressively feminist. It features her robbing a guy who tells her to smile, and a flashback where she is oppressed by men, like a guy in the air force telling her why they call it a COCKpit. Most reviews openly say the movie is mediocre, but give it a passing grade anyway because it's 'her turn'. The effects budget was blown on de-aging Samuel Jackson; the CGI is crappy. The movie also has the skrulls portrayed as oppressed fleeing refugees. It's set up to make her the deus ex machina that saves the universe in Endgame. The media is actively conspiring to shut down any criticism of the movie. Rotten Tomatoes stopped having the feature for their site allowing you to say whether you were interested in seeing a movie, citing 'review bombing' (they weren't reviews, people were just saying they didn't want to see the movie which is what the feature is for). Now Rotten Tomatoes has deleted tens of thousands of user reviews, although it only raised the score slightly. Youtube is also censoring videos that criticize the movie, burying them under friendly reviews. There's also been some criticism of the fact that Brie seems physically unfit despite her boasts, and relatively unattractive compared to the male Marvel stars who are all classic hunks.
Wasn't the Invasion at a time where he didn't have his powers?
Cause in Civil war he says that he only had his power for a few months and the mcu timeline is about in line with ours, so alien invasion happend in 2012 and CW happend in 2016
Brainwashing isn't mind control though. She had free will to reassess.
HOLY FUCK IT DROPPED ANOTHER PERCENTAGE!
IT"S GONNA GET INTO THE 70's!
There is nothing feminist about it. Even WW had more feminist pandering. The pre release PR was bad and it was formulaic origin story and characters were bland. It was going to create a reaction. Atleast Black Panther handled its PR well.
The confidence of these people is something to behold.
And she eventually does, because she eventually learns that she was brainwashed. What's your point?
Calm down, you grumpy antifun user. As if it matters, still the GL comparisment that user made fits.
Princess toadstool is such a bitch now
>someone took the time to write this post
who hurt you, user?
>There is nothing feminist about it.
There is and theres nothing wrong with feminism when it's done right, like WW.
Don't be that person.
Yeah shit like GOTG or Strange at least have a recognizable theme. I couldn't pick out one for Carol.
Neighbour scene was maybe a minute or 2
Regarding the mohawk costume, it just looks off...like maybe it's the white out eyes or the cgi or both but...ehhh
This shit always happens. Companies know that social justice is a hot topic for the past couple of years and so they use it as a sales pitch for whatever they're producing. Along come some people who try to critique the product or company making it who feel that social justice isn't a something that exempts the product from needing a certain level of quality. The company astroturfs a pushback of SJWs that continues to gain steam until anyone who resembles the people criticizing the product are vilified.
You cant handle PR when you make an arrogant bitch the lead actress.
feels like he should've called her for Avengers 2 at least
Ultron was literally seconds away from destroying the planet, and from their perspective when Fury got involved they all thought Ultron could nuke them at any time
it's not like she's doing something so important that she couldn't stop by and help
but it's obvious she didn't exist at that point, Doctor Strange and the introduction of the order of sorcerers had the same problem
Just because she overcame her flaw doesn't mean it wasn't a flaw. Anyone could see her blind loyalty to the Empire was misguided at best.
She had reasons for being that way, but still.
>There's also been some criticism of the fact that Brie seems physically unfit despite her boasts
I don't think there was a hand-to-hand fight scene where she wasn't doubled
A2 will probably be "it was an earth problem" or something dumb like that
But she overcame it, it wasn't blind loyalty. She just didn't know the whole story.
It's not really a flaw if she can't be blamed for it, I think that's what people are trying to say.
>Brie Larson is today's Wikipedia featured article
Am I supposed to think that wasn't on purpose?
This movie isn't for little girls. This movie is for the indignant and neurotic soccer moms who will drag their daughters to the movies because they think supporting a character completely hollowed out and shilled by one of the largest companies in the world is somehow a progressive act.
>It's back to more ratings than Avengers got in its first year
Forgive me if I still don't think this reflects people who have actually watched the film and gave an honest opinion.
think I can pick up some hot lolis if I go see it?
At the end of the day it's various issues. Unlikable lead actor, unlikable character from the comic books, weak plot, turning Nick Fury into a house slave for a white women. Shoving a character like this in at the last second before the climax of the MCU who has no place in the climax and any focus placed on her takes away from the focus of the original characters.
The core of this always boils down to the fact that Captain Marvel was not picked to have her own movie because she was a popular character. She was not picked to have such large focus in the comics because fans loved her. She was picked because literally every noteworthy A list Marvel female superhero was owned by a different company at the time where they wanted a female lead.
Storm. Shadowcat. Jean Grey. Sue Storm. Rogue, She-Hulk. Emma Frost. X-23. All the female heroes who could carry a film with them as a star. Off the table because of legal and that's the real joke. The joke is they had a few they COULD have worked better than Captain Marvel with but they made them in accessories to other heroes(Wasp/Scarlet Witch) or they didn't have faith that they could carry a film (Black Widow)
So they were left scrounging the bottom of the barrel for a strong, superpowered female and they get Captain Marvel, whose claim to fame in my memory before she started being pushed years ago was that chick who the 90s X-Men Rogue power drained to get super powers. And hopefully after Infinity War finishes and X-men belong to Marvel, that'll happen again.
The hero's journey in this one is not very compelling or entertaining. I didn't know who captain marvel was before seeing the movie and I still have no idea who she is after it's over. Marvel movies made me care about a cgi tree and a rabbit, but didn't give me a reason to root for Danvers. I enjoyed the Skrull stuff, especially Talos. I thought the dynamic with her friend and her daughter was a nice one and maybe something could have been there with all the pieces they had but for whatever reason didn't come together to feel like what I expect from Marvel at this point. It just feels off... But the movie wasn't for people like me so what the fuck do I know. I just don't think anyone can relate to it because there's honestly nothing to relate to.
Fuck, good bread Yea Forums. Proud of you.
It wasn't blind loyalty to begin with. Her "flaw" was something that she was brainwashed into believing, false memories. You can't help but believe false memories, dumbass.
>She openly fantasizes about assaulting men she sees in public
Meanwhile, Rosa Salazar was busy head slamming female interviewers' heads to promote Alita.
I was expecting Alita to be fuuuuuuucking shit like most anime adaptations but was good stuff.
Also can I get a link because that's pretty hot.
incel
You and me both. I haven't watched a marvel movie in theaters since Thor Ragnarok.
Making a memorial post about an individual while making it all about yourself is super selfish and contrived.
Also, I'm not Latino.
You're mostly right but I will never agree with the idea that any of the X-Girls or Invisible Woman could carry their own movie when they can't even carry their own comics. They are team characters, always have been, always will be. I have no love for Carol but she was always the obvious choice to push. Of Marvel's 70s feminist heroes she's the only one that made it over 20 issues. And although like She-Hulk and Spider-Girl, Marvel's only other long-running solo female heroes, Carol is also a spin-off/legacy, she has the distinctly singular benefit of Mar-Vell being dead and irrelevant for longer than he was alive. It was never going to be anyone but Carol.

I just like listening to her talk because she sounds just like two friends I had in the army.
It's worse than that. It was barely better than SW:TLJ.
*SCHHHHHHHHHLUUUUUUURP*
So that's why she couldn't question why they were attacking a refugee planet, or why the Kree were adding such planets to their Empire in the first place... the brainwashing.
There's a clear anti-colonialism sentiment here.
Lmao is true
I could shit in my hand and that could be better than SW:TLJ
Would she make a good X-23? I can't tell
She's fucking lovely tho
DC getting their act together, I thought Aquaman was fun.
I think marvel might release soon that the connected universe could of been a fluke and is starting to run out of steam.
Usually Marvel movies release solo hero films to set up the character to appear with the other heroes and what happens in their solo movie will dictate how they'll interact with the rest. If the lesson from Captain Marvel was not to trust what you think you know about people, then it might come into play with how she acts with the rest of the Avengers. If so then I guess the lessons she learned in Cap M will become more clear and she'll have more development in Endgame. Usually the solo hero movies are still just fine on their own and give us enough to be satisfied with it without needing to see the next one for it to be a good movie. I felt Cap M missed this and I'm not really sure what they were really trying to do. This was supposed to be the first time we see a younger, maybe more naive Fury, but he comes out of the whole experience not really being all that shook up about this whole new universe of aliens and shit he was just exposed to. Even after he gets his eye ruined by an alien monster cat. He just makes jokes. If this was the movie we were supposed to see him change from the Fury we know now to the Fury he was it didn't really happen. It's a bunch of stuff like that they just completely missed.
That's now how RT works, retard. A movie can be 100% if every review gave it a 6/10 because 6 is fresh. Pretty sure you would have failed high school getting 60 on everything.
60/100 sounds like "decent with some issues" to me if it's that consistent
>has BRIE written in her bag
'Getting back up' would be really good if it was a core theme.
Instead its sorta hamfisted frankenstein of what it wants to be. And it turns into the straightest DC Superman movie Marvel has produced once it got past all the garbage scenes it wanted to have.
Its mostly a mix of fanservice, a undervalued theme(only goes there for the final capture scene), hamfisted silly feminist scenes.
At the least its 1/3 fanservice and 1/3 Superman.
She has no ass.
/thread
And this movie needed what Superman had. It needed Carol of Murder.
>Is there a valid reason why Fury wouldn't have called upon her in Avengers 1?
Why bother making a new team if you don't plan on using them? She said she was going to be a few galaxies away and was going to go off to fight this huge war. He didn't know how long it would take his message to reach her, or even if she'd respond to it. It was a pager, not a cell phone. It's been so long since he's seen her during the events of Avengers 1 that he probably didn't want to put all his eggs in that basket. He had all the Avengers there ready to go that day. That's why he didn't just call her up for every damn thing
Are you serious? Absolutely nothing about that picture even comes close to resemblance of the thought of remembering Stan Lee. Everything about that picture screams ‘It’s all about me’ while using such a post to get more eyes on her
>There's plenty of real things to criticize but /pol/ doesn't watch these movies
Neither does anyone else
SHE HAS NO GRACE
THIS MOVIE IS A FUCKING DISGRACE
they ran the ghostbusters 2016 playbook and it's biting them in the ass. the film itself isn't good and is filled to the brim with its ham handed message. i'm legitimately surprised disney let this film come out and passed the script on what it was. this is supposed to be the face of the mcu for the next decade? rough start.
I'd like to see her go up against Captain America, just to take her ego down a little bit.
She blasts his shield, it absorbs it or something before through it at her and knocking her out of the sky with the energy.
Just something to show her current OP level isn't everything.
She feels a little like Marvel jesus atm.
>Is there a valid reason why Fury wouldn't have called upon her in Avengers 1?
They wheren't that fucked. Nobody had a real usage of the Tesseract.
>Where does her title (the title of the movie) actually come from?
Comics
>In GotG, Ronan calls Quill "mortal".
This is the kind of high horse you get after spending decades turbomurdering worlds for piety.
The parts that stick out the most is Carol going 'stronk womyn' after regaining her memory and negotiating with the Skrull.
The practical effect fight scene in the chase scene where she is stopped from hitting the Skrull by normal people.
It needed a better goal on what to achieve.
It spends 2/3 of the movie setting up for a Carol of Murder, and then it becomes a hopeful Superman movie.
>Just let the skrulls in they're fine hard working people who just want a better life
ARE YOU FOR FUCKING REAL
SKRULLS
FUCKING SKRULLS
LETTING THEM ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR PLANET
FOR FUCKS SAKE CAROL
>There wasn't even a semblance of a theme
I guess you missed the tie-in ads but as with every MCU movie, the theme is that you should join the military.
By the way, you should really join the military.
Every single hero on the current marvel roster has their weaknesses and doubts, except Carol. It's so fucking bizzare.
She's more of a force than a character, which I guess is kind of interesting.
Wtf movie did you see?
Diana was sweet and kind. The only time she fucked men up is when THEY attacked her or her friends. Did you just.....want her to sit there. She didn't threaten anyone.
WW had a perfect type of feminism of showing a woman with strength but not "urrrr hurrr she's better den dah men" way. She still learned from men, and didn't seem begrudgingly hostile about it, and pursued her dream of protecting them.
It's a far more compassionate form than whatever CM was trying to push.
Wow, they all look so.. Frumpy.
Heftier, Fluffier, Fatter: Chair Force
The marketing and the liberalness of the main lead
Boy this "colonizer" shit is so stupid. It's been, what, 100+ years since colonialism ended? Are they seriously expecting every single established demographic to just try to find their point of origin to "make things right"?
It's shouting at the clouds.
You don't have to be intimidated by women, user
>encourages girls to go into a guaranteed rape pit
for feminism, I guess
Honestly I was fucking dreading what it was going to be when it came out.
>Jewish, Model/Actress
>A character who is basically a flagship for feminism
It would of been so easy for them to pull that bitter vibe of feminism that soo many spout these days but they didn't and it paid off by not alienating anyone in the audience.
I was genuinely shocked, even the Themiscyra scenes didn't feel hamfisted.
It's a movie that takes parallels from real-world history, relax
>It's been, what, 100+ years since colonialism ended?
Amazing historical insight.
Same exact stuff. The neighbor gag was pretty good
>Ultron was literally seconds away from destroying the planet
Fury just has a pager, how could she even get to Earth in that time? By the time she got there the Avengers would have either won already, or the planet would be fucked.
Well, not with them looking like that I won't.
he doesn't know that for sure, it's stupid for him not to do it when they're in a desperate situation like that. if she comes back to a ruined world then she can Avenge them.
They kept the Amazons pretty consistent to their original comic form. Paranoid and suspicious of outsiders but hardly "eew men."
I've never actually read any WW runs, could you recommend some? I'm okay with the death by snu-snu versions.
Uh-huh. Now hurry up and Join the Navy.
I don't give a god damn about all the autistic political reasons people hate it, but fuck Carol Danvers and fuck Marvel for pushing this dull stillborn of a character for the past 7 years.
Because she's a man hating feminist. I'm not even white and don't live in america but seeing her ruining her own movie for feminist shit really made me mad.
