This whole comic is garbage and five years too late on the bandwagon.

darkseid rape her quick

>Is this DC's Mockingbird or America
Since Steppenwolf isn't in Red, this series isn't canon

THAT'S SOMETHING DRUMPF SAID ONCE!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
THEY GOT HIM GOOD!

>Obsessed Trumpfag on damage control
Go be a REAL patriot and hang yourself, nigger.

That's very kirbyesque.

Bye

Did this issue get storytimed and I missed it?

>the villains are bad
cool
>the villains reference something the creators think is bad
fine
>the villains reference something the creators think is bad, but you think is good
REEEEEE

TW for Yea Forums: this issue shows empathy towards women who suffered sexual assault.

Last issue we saw Auralie and Big Barda covered up a murder.

Hahaha go fuck your mom, you filthy redneck scum.

>Scott as a paratrooper
Say what you want but it's undeniable that Cecil Castellucci did her homework.

Both Wonderful Willik and Aurelie showed up In Mister Miracle #9, an issue titled Himon.

Really I think it's safe to say that Castellucci based all off this the mister miracle series.

Aurelie is living a doomed fate being the one of the few decent people on apokalips.

Attached: RCO011_1551998042.jpg (1988x3056, 1.16M)

Really this wholes series is a tragedy.

Attached: RCO013_1551998042.jpg (1988x3056, 1.25M)

How is it a tragedy?
She has absolutely no agency. It's just the world she's in being shit.

This is an edit, right?

What moron thinks of this shit??

Why didn't she just kill him quickly. It would've been worth it. This way she's just getting herself arrested so she can't do any subversive action in the future.
Damn women and their emotions.

How is it not a tragedy? She yearns for agency and in the end it will be her undoing.

This feels like a kirby scene, you got a group of clearly conditioned people shouting hate

Attached: RCO018_1551998042.jpg (1988x3056, 1.45M)

You have to actually cause your own undoing for it to be a tragedy. Otherwise it's just a biblical fable. Woman disobeyed God (by proxy, in this case God is established authority), so he punished her.
A tragedy is a tragedy regardless of if you are sympathetic to the character.

It's the Lump.

Attached: 20190308_093201.jpg (1988x3066, 2.69M)

This artist is wasted on this shit.

>You have to actually cause your own undoing for it to be a tragedy.
And she is.

That BMP sound effect kinda takes away from the scene.

Honestly, the line "You're a nasty woman" feels so awkward. I like the comic well enough, but there are too many moments where they stop and spell things out to the audience.
Like the line at the top of this page.
>If I were a man...
>But you're not a man.
Does the author think we wouldn't get the message if they didn't have every other line awkwardly pointing out what was happening?

Attached: RCO020_1551998042.jpg (1988x3056, 1.24M)

One thing I don't get is why these guys pretend like they're good. What's the point in pretending to live to a status quo in a setting that is completely at odds against it?

I agree, the nasty woman line is clunky.

Attached: RCO021_1551998042.jpg (1988x3056, 1.73M)

Attached: RCO022_1551998042.jpg (1988x3056, 1.35M)

I think it's some kind of moral inversion. Like if you take the human code and replace every "GOOD" entry with "EVIL" and leave everything else the same. Isn't that what anti-life is supposed to be but on a more fundamental level?

I thought Scott had blue eyes?

And that's it for issue 2. Truthfully I liked issue 1 better but I'm interested to see how this plays out.

>What moron thinks of this shit??
A current year comic writer.

Um what's Barda's problem? She's tiny?

>I like the comic well enough
How low have your standards become? What do you consider to be a bad comic? You are fascinating to me.

I view as a society that values hate and aggression as virtures, it's all very militant.

Tiny and dwarfed by the role she's in.

Newsflash: they're all current year writers. You're never gonna get a book that says fuck feminism, fuck diversity, fuck social equality.

I was just trying to be polite in the hopes that it would keep the discussion civil. The only part I've been enjoying is the art.

dat 3rd panel

I don't know this dreamer character, what was she supposed to do?

i hope the writer don t expect us to take this run seriously.

There is something ironic about how much cheesecake is involved in regards to the subject manner.
But I'm figuring it's intentional seeing how Cecil Castellucci also wrote that Wonder wife tie-in for milk wars.

Beautiful Dreamer, one of the forever people.

Attached: Forever_People.jpg (500x614, 293K)

She is and she isn't. You shouldn't take comics too seriously in the first place but as long as you are you might as well be serious about it.

i never thought that way, my fault.

We're all learning user.

Wait a second I thought the Furies were Darksieds elite bodyguard.

So is this like a Parody of the viewpoint of Feminism?

Or is it just a Feminist writer wikipedia-dropping some obscure characters in an abortion of a New Gods story?

Misogyny is often as subtle as a baseball bat to the knee.

I don't understand why people have been having such a fit over this, crying about how it betrays Kirby's vision and whatnot.
I'm issue one Darkseid rapes Granny Goodness and there were complaints that "Darkseid shouldn't have emotions and desires" whilst simultaneously missing the point that rape is about power and subjugation; which is exactly representative of Darkseid being the concept of fascism and control - antilife is about devaluing the freedom of the individual so why wouldn't Darkseid do that anyway?
Is it literally because it's tackling the subject of rape and harassment, which makes people uncomfortable?
People hearing that x behaviour makes other people uncomfortable and taking that as an attack on identity?
Or is it just on the nose politics being worn on the sleeve that people have an adverse reaction to, because they want comics to be a safe space where identities and ideas aren't challenged?

Did you take Kirby's bombastic 4th world seriously when Don Rickles made a guest appearance or when Dracula and co. appeared? There's your answer.

>Is it literally because it's tackling the subject of rape and harassment, which makes people uncomfortable?

That and incels here are triggered by the female point of view.

I understand you're discord trannies trying to point something out, but I'll give it a shock

It humanises Darksied and makes the forces of Apokolips, especially the Furies, into pathetic bickering children. So it's not so much the subject matter, but how it plays out. Feminists can't write characters who are not either a parody of what they hate, or a parody of what they believe in anyway.

That's an opinion, I suppose.

Took you this long and still can't think of a counterargument I guess?

Bodyguards? No, that's not a thing.

Does Darkseid rapes anyone in this book? If he doesn't I don't give a single shit about this piece of shit.

"Waaa! men are mean! Waaaah! Why can't I get a good jOB?! WAAAH! WHY AM I SINGLE?!"}

Fuck off already.

Sorry, they're the most elite Strike force in Darksied's employ.

But taking the medium seriously would mean criticizing this book. Harshly or not.

Did you think Kirby wanted you to think Apokalips was cool? Them being what amount to as immature violent thugs is the point. The whole process is about stunting your ability to reason and think for yourself, where you blindly accept to die for darkseid because that's what's been program into you.

Actually Apokalips is supposed to be the penultimate facist dictatorship: Why the fuck would Darksied do stupid shit like beauty pagents when his Female Furies should be out conquering worlds?

No there are several counter arguments, I'm just not sure it's worthwhile to engage when you've already glossed over aforementioned points and any further dialogue will just devolve into moving goalposts.
To imply that the Female Furies shouldn't be resentful or hateful towards each other, when one of the most defining features of them is that they despise Barda for abandoning them and not conforming just doesn't add up.
Darkseid isn't being humanised by devaluing women, that's something fascism inherently does. One of the core tennets of fascism is that everyone has a specific decided role, and for women that role is procreation and childcare as a second class citizen - so the female furies being treated as such makes sense.
Sure it isn't a 100% one to one recreation of Kirby's work but to do so would be meritless as that already exists - but this doesn't betray the ideals or concepts he was putting across.

Yeah this is nonsense, fascism is actually based and never does stupid shit.

Apokalips is a wacky place.

You prove my very point then; The feminist writer can't write about Facism without turning it into a cartoonish parody. "Females are second class citizens on Apokolips" is probably the most laughably stupid and out of touch to the characters and story of the New Gods ever.

It's fucking Apokalips: there are no second class citizens because there are no Citizens. Everyone is a slave to Darksied and they are valued according to use.

I think we can at least agree on the fact that western women shouldn't be allowed to try to garner "sympathy for me, stop the oppression, end the misogyny" with a comic like this. None of the lead protagonists' problems happen to women in real life.

But I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that fascism isn't a cartoon evil in and of itself or that slavery doesn't have hierarchies.

> I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that fascism isn't a cartoon evil in and of itself or that slavery doesn't have hierarchies

I'm not disagreeing that slavery doesn't have hierarchies, but that Darksied would dark about "Procreation" when the Furies are his elite warriors.

Facism isn't cartoony evil, it's an actual horrible real evil like all extreme authortarian regimes.

That doesn't make the dialogue less of a chore to read.

Darkseid tells Granny in the first issue that he needs to have sex with her to relieve his urges, or something along those lines. It seems strange for the big guy to be a slave to his carnal desires like that.

Also, in this issue Darkseid believes Willik when he lies about not touching Aurelie. It's an analogy for the real world, sure, but it makes Darkseid look gullible. Couldn't you just have Darkseid not give a shit about the rape? Why would he care, especially given how nonchalantly he had done it to Granny?

His characterization is being sacrificed to better suit the stories message, which ultimately makes the story (and its message) weaker.

>It seems strange for the big guy to be a slave to his carnal desires like that.
He isn't, Granny is.

Also ultimately, why would he care about a Fury beating down one of his lesser guards? Most stories give the Furies Carte Blanche for shit like that.

>it's an actual horrible real evil like all extreme authortarian regimes.
Yeah but it's also is kinda cartoony evil. There is an absurdity to these oppressive regimes where their actions and reasoning come off as ridiculous.

Of course there are eccentricies, but these are mostly due to human emotion and an incomplete actual facist ideal.

In the end, true facism is impossible because the leaders of human states will not put the state before their own well being. It's actually why Nazi Germany was a pretty shit facist state.

Jack Kirby's new gods are human, there are personal gods in that sense like the greek or nordic pantheon. They are fueled by human emotions, human desires and human follies.

Whys the book called female furies when all furies are always female

Because that's the name of the group.

Attached: 1548612468171.jpg (1988x3056, 1.41M)

True, but Darksied is basically a turbo autist focused on control, so he won't spend tons of time doing coke or fucking sheep like a commom despot will.

It was a form of control over granny.

Ahh. Always thought they were just called The Furies

Why so wasteful and short-sighted when it's her ambition that Darksied can use as a chain?

He still is though. She's still under the idea that she can rise up in his ranks.

>None of the lead protagonists' problems happen to women in real life.

So you're a #MeToo denier, that explains so much.

Because he's making a statement that she isn't his equal. Despite she thinking she ought to be.

Barda a qt

Darksied would foster this ambition though; He does it all the time with Dessad and his son the retard one I can't remember.

You're being dense as to what constitutes cartoon evil. If you're looking for a "serious business" totalitarian system, your best bet is 1930-1957 Soviet Union. Fascism is a joke on principle.

Any woman in the civilized world can report sexual harassment and rape to the authorities who will then exact the law in the interest of the victim.
Demonstrating a "female gaze" as seeing that the possibility of crime means the absence of law is this comic's greatest banality.

>130-1957 Soviet Union

State Communism is Facism by it's design though.

No, fascism is fascism and Stalinism is a form of state nihilism dressed up as communism. If you think every form of extreme authoritarianism is fascism, you don't understand the meaning of the term.

Who isn't a fucking #MeToo denier when it's basically a modern day witch hunt

>the retard one I can't remember.
Kalibak and in a sense he has fostered that ambition.

And we all know how well the current system has worked in the past. Women have been belittled, they aren't believed, they are blamed for their own abude, they are demonized and ostracized for telling what happened to them.

His rape didn't put a stop to Granny's lust for power. He simply put the fear of God in her, making sure she bends the knee and doesn't try to overthrow him.

Not on this website, honey.
