He's fighting an alien that lives inside of him and hates him.

It's a reference to the talk she had with Negative just as much as the one she had with the Nazi scientist.

She doesn't control her alter-egos and she feels that's a good thing. This idea got some strong reinforcement both by how the evil Nazi who told her he was a lot like her in a way, used control over multiple bodies as a weapon, as well as the fact that Negative is struggling to control his own powers and is only making things worse by doing so.

well so far the mummy is all about gay angst and muh bandages. He seems like an extra with nothing to do. he has the same "I look like a freak" "control of my body" angst,etc they all seem to be dealing with the same shit instead of each having their own thing. he seemed more interesting when he was acting like the actresses lap dog or the mature and wise guy of the team. robodude's drama is not grabbing me and despite it just being a voice, I never liked any of brendan fraser's characters. his adventures could be fun like in Bedazzled but I never felt for him

I think dalton is really missing on this show, he could deliver a mix of caring and manipulative that can really make the rest of the team shine. As it is, they can't react to the things around them.

No, a moment like Cliff going "What the fuck?" is a comedic moment because he can never comprehend the weirdness around him. Jane hates overly controlling people because her father abused her and she has her own way of coping with her trauma. She was able to get better with the support of Cliff.

I would disagree, like cliff's character building in the pilot develops mainly due to him confronting the chief.

Jane in particular would not be so obnoxious since the chief would know what makes her tick, and exposes her vulnerabilities.

Rita would have an actual conflict in terms of having to pick between the chief or the rest of the team, although what they are setting up right know is fine.

And Larry would have somebody to drive him to live with his negative man persona, when he himself just wants to get rid off.

I understand the basic plot would have to be reworked though.

I saw it as more him lashing out at anyone. His issue was not with the chief but with his situation. It did not get dicey until he found out the truth was being kept from him, even then the excuse was sound.

As for the chief and jane, it playing out a bit like prof x is kinda the point. Having her multiple personalities taking out obvious badguys doesn´t really convince anyone that they´re a problem, but having them hurt the people she cares about and are trying to help her, now that is an actual issue.

Holy shit that was a great. Now I know why Daredevil had to get cancelled - two comicbook shows of this magnitude simply couldn't exist at once.

Cyborg is the one forcing them to become the team. He's making the decisions and he's deciding what's wrong or right and motivating the others to do good.

I was pretty dubious of the decision to include him, but they're actually doing something interesting with him this time.

He didn't direct any actually, but I'm pretty sure he was part of the writer's room for the show and is credited with writing the season premiere and finale.

having him bringing the team together doesn't really make sense since they established he hasn't been on one before other than the football team.

He's the only one with experience in superheroing, even if he's just fighting muggers. Part of it is him subconsciously trying to prove he's a capable hero to his dad in order to get that spot in the Justice League but there's also a genuine desire to do good that motivates him to rally the team together.

That's not really what I'm talking about. Him being kind of up himself and obnoxious, and desperate to prove himself, is nice. Plus I like the implications that his dad is fucking around with his memories and sort of living vicariously through him.

I can say outright that I thought he was going to be by far the worst part of the show, but was wrong. He's not the best of course, but he fits the general 'theme'(People who went through a traumatic experience and made them into the ''monsters' they are) perfectly, he offers something the others don't have so he's not useless to the narrative(a general desire to go out there and help others and dreams of being a 'big time hero' rather than just get back to 'normal'.) and him being the most 'normal' and modern(In terms of age, not progressiveness or whatever) of the group helps give them another perspective which is always nice.

Simply put, that one guy throwing Cyborg at every DC property and hoping he sticks finally actually managed to hit the right part of the dartboard. Cyborg might not 'belong' to the Doom Patrol like the comics, but he belongs in this show and it is good that he's here, and I want to see more of him. Good on ya', Cyborg! You finally fit somewhere, in the place with people who can't fit in in a cosmic twisted irony!

In a cruel twist I like him a million times more than Jane, who I thought was going to be the most fun after the first episode but by the second I felt like I already had enough of.

Despite one of them being a raging homosexual with drama issues, one of them being a literally prissy dramaqueen actress and one of them being that guy from the Mummy's voice the vast majority of stuff I've seen here or elsewhere is in love with the cast. Grant actually is a bit of a technophobe. In interviews he talks about how a home he has that doesn't have the internet and even self admits it some. He still is a functional person though, just general old guy doesn't like technology level stuff.

I mean you would think that after shoving him in half a dozen teams every year he would have stuck before now. This is the guy who's been in everything from the Justice League to the Superfriends and never felt like he 'clicked'. It's even weirder because they have an amazing robot character in this one with what's essentially a more powerful and better told version of Cyborgs origin story and he still manages to fit.

March 29th, DC Universe panel at Wonder Con. Probably some more details for second half of Young Justice season and Swamp Thing, maybe preview clips; might be too early for Stargirl and Harley Quinn. If rumors of Doom Patrol getting a second season are real, probably first place it'd get officially announced.

Most of those complaints are also from Hammerhead, who is a hyper-aggressive bitch that hates practically everything.

Freaks of nature live peacefully in a mansion in a small town when their leader is sucked into a wormhole (along with the town). After getting the town back via a donkey, they’re now chasing down all leads to find their leader. Hilarity ensues because they’re all a bunch of clashing personalities that can barely work together for a common goal.

Originally, yeah. He was part of a group of mages like John was implied to be part of (but most of John's crew died behind the scenes and in Moore/Veitch Swamp Thing).
Mark Waid was editing Morrison's DP at the time, and couldn't convince the Hellblazer editor to let Morrison borrow John.
So Morrison shaved the serial number off, made him permanently drunk, and went in a bit of a different direction as the series progressed.
The kicker is that Morrison had written a two issue Hellblazer story with art from David Lloyd (V for Vendetta), and those issues ended up being released at the same time that Kipling was introduced in DP.

I wish Mr Nobody was narrating this episode. The dialogue is all over the place, and when it wasn’t exposition it was some of the cringiest shit

It felt like it was aping a bad Dr Who episode, and for all it’s attempts at “woah this is weird” the writers clearly wanted to explain the weirdness rather than have us and the characters react to the weirdness. I hope that this next episode makes some attempt at remedying this, because so far it’s the only episode I haven’t enjoyed. Those first three episodes are perfect.

Found this thread just to post this - the fight scene was actually alright and I've been dreading more cgi because Rita's blob phases are a bit hit and miss. Great episode, genuinely looking forward for more.
