How does this compare to the rest of the MCU?
Captain Marvel
Better than Thor1&2, but not as good as Black Panther
Hot Garbage to be honest.
It's better than Iron Man 3 and Thor 2, but not by much. It's probably not necessary to watch before you see Endgame unless you're a completionist.
I don't care for capeshit movies anymore. So to me, it can't be good.
Agreed.
For me it felt out of place time wise, because it should've come out waaaay before Infinity War.
Watch your back, prepare. I'll appear from the shadow and be your worst nightmare.
You have made your last sexist comment.
thats what I wear when I go to sleep. I keep the katana under the peillow
Shittier than your average MCU film. But MCU films on their own are forgetable, mediocre popcorn flicks.
Weird how they're still so much more popular than every other movie franchise.
You know how whenever a movie like this comes along defenders say "Get over it, the thing you like still exists"?
Captain Marvel actually makes previous MCU movies worse.
People keep coming back to watch movies that are forgettable mediocre popcorn flicks. If nothing else, at least recognize Feige's talent for making people give a shit about B an D-listers that have been constantly overshadowed by other characters for the better part of half a century.
I put it on the same level as Thor 1.
but that was the worst marvel movie
Worst movie desu
I hope Kevin Feige has learned his lesson.
cover a female comic book character will not make it respectable or not
the script is bad, bad dialogues
the movie recycles old jokes
This is bad is not it?
the action scenes are awful
You can see animations with better scenes
probably the worst work of brie larson
samuel l. jackson is not well, this is the worst fury ever seen on mcu
it would be much better if the movie was closer to the comics, with capitain marvel and ms marvel
This movie is the biggest mcu disaster
Thor 1/2 are probably the most boring movies in the MCU so that isn't much of a compliment.
you know, lying on the internet doesnt give you cool points. you didnt see the movie at all.
Thor 1 and 2 are legitimately terrible. Maybe not quite Catwoman or Elektra-tier, but easily as bad as Ben Affleck Daredevil or BvS.
Terrible. And it ruins the MCU and ruins Winter Soldier and Captain America.
Can this guy have a movie next?
top low-tier
So better than Dark World and Hulk at least? That's dubious praise.
from what people have said it's a mix bag.
It's got me worried for Endgame. I had serious Man of Steel vibes during act 3. Her power scale is so high it feels like she can't be threatened. Also "Just a Girl" was a Suicide Squad-tier musical choice.
They were right, she is the most powerful hero MCU has.
I'd put it above Thor 1, Hulk, and maybe Dark World / Iron Man 2. It's a film of peaks and valleys. Some stuff really works, some stuff (Carol) really doesn't.
It seemed weird that she went from barely able to go hand-to-hand with a Skrull to suddnely being able to solo the Accuser's fleet
Acceptable but really forgettable
Its best moment is the Stan Lee tribute in the 'Marvel Studios' intro
Let's call it a Blade remake because we known by now it's okay to switch the race of a character if the story doesn't *depend* on it.
That seems to be the consensus, including on a critical level. Metacritic slots it in above those two, the first Thor, both Iron Man sequels and Ant-Man, right behind the first Cap and AOU.
I don't know why this is so cringe to some people. The only time I felt the cringe creepin up was when they played No Doubt "Just a Girl" during a fight scene but that was more of an eye-roll than anything. To be quite honest, I kind of miss that manner of "GRRRRRL POWER" compared to the shit we get these days.
It's a viable movie for an MCU title. MCU is already so fucking divergent from the comics I could not care any less. Plus, Carol's rags were always VERY hit or miss for me.
The only thing that actually made it worth it was to see such heavy references to Photon. Is she going to be in a future movie fully powered and everything? Or will they alter her too?
