Sheldon was too much of a "nice guy." He was butthurt at some guy for "not respecting her" or whatever but he kept a creepy love shrine for her and only was attracted to her in the first place because her tits were made of metal. Totally shallow.

More recently I've heard that when the show was airing, Rob wanted Sheldon to win but also that they meant for romance in the show to be more for humor than a real big component to it. How things would've ended is with Jenny being mature enough to be happy with who she is.
