So, comics are dead or not?

So, comics are dead or not?

yes

And that's a good thing

Comics for manchildren are dying.

Comics for actual children sell in the millions.

My hope is that those children will grow up, ignore manchild comics entirely, and create a renaissance of serious and artsy-fartsy comics for adults.

So long as we keep them close to our hearts, they will never die out.

I'm up for this

you are absolutely correct that women are children.

however comics for adults are available for everyone else.

My LCS is an antique store now.

I am a-ok with that. Down with the capes.

>Bill Maher like Blackhawks
Based

fuNKO Pops are taking over.

You're trying too hard.

>actual children
Real appropriate stuff you got there

Attached: hm.png (627x667, 544K)

No, they are suspended in a netherworld between life and death waiting for you to read them

DESU, most of my great comic buys have been from antique shops.

Honestly haven't read much comics since post-Secret Wars and Bendis going to DC.

>My hope is that those children will grow up, ignore manchild comics entirely, and create a renaissance of serious and artsy-fartsy comics for adults

That's already been done, and is currently being done.

Why are you such a brainless shit-gobbling retard who shoves pine cones up his ass?

My dude, it's nice that some small press and self-published comics exist, but it's hardly a renaissance when nobody's buying them. Calm the fuck down.

I found a bunch of great Fantagraphics mags from an antique mall. Some really cool shit.

Image is an indie press? News to me, fat miserable retarded manchild faggot that continues to buy retard shit nobody cares about.

Capshit comics are totally dead

this capeshit needs to die

You seem unreasonably upset over such unimportant stakes.

But if Image is your source of "serious and artsy-fartsy comics for adults" then you have more problems than just overreacting on 4channel.

I don't know but Disney is doing a great job to make this come true.

No, I just have such little regard for you as a person, cumdump mega-fuck-up loser virgin retard.

Go back to wanking stains all over your socks and pillow fat miserable fuck :)

Name 10 comics you read/have read.

I can name 10 comics objectively better than them, which is how secure I am that you don't read comics or only read surface trash.

about the only costume in that list that they're not using anymore is the Ms. Marvel Leotard, which is honestly one of Carols' weaker costumes to begin with.

>Image is an indie press?
Uh...yes. almost everything is creator owned

They are thanks to you. You were the last bastion of Hope and you hesitated.

Yes
Liberals killed them by alienating their core demographic

That is already happening in Europe

these are picture books with comic style

Notice he hasn't responded

This is fake. This nigga hates comics and the people who enjoy them. He has said on his show that the problem of modern day people is they have their heads in too many comic books and they need to grow up. He's never read a comic book in his life. Rather he rages for hate against the comic fans.

There are only like 100k people in the US who read comics in large enough numbers to matter. It's like how alcoholics pretty much prop up the alcohol industry, because without them it wouldn't be profitable enough to continue.

can you name 10 comics objectively better than my top 10

>We3
>The life and time is Scrooge mcduck
>Criminal
>A contract with god
>Hitman
>The question
>doctor 13 architecture and mortality
>Planetary

American comics definitely are the industry is shrinking but people are saying it's going to grow this year.
European comics on the other hand seem to be doing better I've seen more euro comics break the American market recently and I honestly think they're much better on average. Most indie American comics are webcomic shit that I legitimately wonder if anyone buys

>he thinks this doesn't count as a comic book
The absolute state of capeshitters on Yea Forums.

>Tfw you never got to finish Joe Palooka because of the comics scare
Worst timeline.

Alice in Sunderland
American Splendor
Are You My Mother?
Arsene Schrauwen
Bottomless Belly Button
Can't We Talk About Something More Pleasant?
Cerebus the Aardvark
Duncan the Wonder Dog
Frank
Jackie Chan-- OH SHIT

It’s just another case of “person on the outside thinks everything under a certain name is the same.” It doesn’t matter that some very thoughtful adult comics exist. Their perception is that comics are for kids, and unfortunately in 90% of cases he is mostly right. It’s the same thing as something thinking animation is stupid. They could reluctantly watch an episode of king of the hill and love it, but go back to calling cartoons stupid the next day because they can’t let go of their perception.

No particular order:

>Martian Geography
>Corto Maltese
>A Jew in Communist Prague
>I Killed Adolf Hitler
>Julius Corentin Acquefacques, Prisoner of Dreams
>Dungeon
>Jerusalem Chronicles
>The Initiates
>The Metabarons
>Motherfucking Moomins

> We3
Not that user, but "muh dead pets :(" is hardly an example of a good comic.

Prophet, Orc Stain, Island, King City, Multiple Warheads, Jan's Atomic Heart, Old City Blues, The Wrenchies, Prince of Cats, Mirror.

Thank you for the compliments folks, but I'm already aware that I am Based and Prophetpilled.

American comics are dead

They always have the potential to come back. They just need to stop being absolute garbage.

>planetary
Literally every other Wildstorm book, which you have not read.

You tell me

Digital comics are fine. Everyone buys digital now

If anything it'll go the same way as Blockbusters

Who is the quote originally from? Bill Maher has gone on record of stating that he's never read a comic in his life, so it's certainly not him.

Western comics have been entirely replaced by manga.

One piece alone outsells the entire Batman franchise in the west now.

Manga succeeded over comics because they still care about telling actual stories with actual characters.

Western comics are indeed dead. And it died an absolutely pathetic death.

Probably since it's one author, one artist for a manga series, while cape comics have been floundering about with the same characters, different creators.

Yeah, it's not exactly difficult to know where to start with One Piece. Volume 1, like all other manga. Ask someone where to start with Batman, you need a fucking doctorate in comics history for that shit.

No, you don't. Google "batman, where do I start". Follow the advice. If you have even one brain cell, you find shit easy.
One Piece has like 90 volumes, and is gonna have a disappointing ending. I like seeing what different teams do with cape characters, rather than just one team hanging on for the money/because they'll never create anything as popular as their currently biggest work. One Piece is pretty good, but just as prone to every flaw of battle shonen going

The fact that you even have to research where to start is a problem in itself as far as appeal is concerned.

Just because you don't personally prefer One Piece doesn't take away from the point of it being easier to jump into, and the fact that it's better selling than Batman as a whole.

It's happened in Europe since the fucking 1930s

>Elmer
>Dreams of the Rarebit Fiend
>Beautiful Darkness
>Tintin in Tibet
>Beasts of Burden
>A Family Matter
>The Arrival
>Oddballs
>Robert Crumb's Genesis

>MALE
the good stuff died in its prime

>hitman and Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck on the same list
I’m intrigued.

>Elmer
>beasts of burden
I like you.

>It's so easy
Obviously it's not easy enough since Capeshit sales have been nose diving and new readers aren't bothering jumping into that convoluted mess.

You're intrigued by entry-level comics? British Invasion is what everybody starts with when they first ask for recs, and everybody and their mom has read Life and Times.

capeshit comics will die within several years. the divisions of the big 2 will become very small and only manage old franchises/IPs
