PUNISHER: THE PLATOON SEQUEL

Garth Ennis just revealed on the Sktchd Podcast that he's currently in the middle of writing the next chapter in Frank Castle's tour of Vietnam, and mentioned that Nick Fury will be along for the ride again.

Seeing as Goran Parlov isn't currently on any books, I'd say it's safe to say it'll be him drawing it again too (and I wouldn't have it any other way).

Also worthy of noting from the interview; apparently the Marvel higher-ups are big fans of what Ennis does with his war stuff, so it's safe to say he won't be leaving any time soon. Seems like the MAX line is his to fuck around in.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck yeah.

We knew this already. Sounds cool, but I'm more looking forward to this "contemporary" Punisher comic he's working on. Wonder what direction Ennis'll take it in.

JUST HOOK IT INTO MY VEINS

Platoon was underwhelming. Not bad, and Parlov is great so I’ll check it out. But I hope he has just a little more flavor and flair for his next punisher story

OUR GOD, IS AN AWESOME GOD

Nice, a Marvel book to look forward to

We knew about the book but Ennis' progress on it, Fury's inclusion and his stance with the Marvel top dogs was news

Well shit. I guess I ain't done with Marvel yet.

Platoon did confirm that Frank is still alive and active today, so im guessing hes going to do another ''end of the Punisher'' story

I'm hoping for an Old Man Castle kind of story with Frank's age finally starting to catch up to him and him struggling to do the job, some kind of 'one last mission' arc that could serve as a solid conclusion to Ennis' time writing Punisher in the event that he decides he's done with the character.

The real reason I'm looking forward to it is because I want to know how Garth is going to write the Punisher after the end of Valley Forge, Valley Forge where he kills a group of senior-ranking officers of the US Army and Air Force. As in, I know they were evil and fucking with him behind the scenes during the series, and Col. Howe may have covered his bases, but I doubt that's the sort of thing Frank could do and then just continue being the Punisher like business as usual.

I'm guessing he's just going to ignore the shitshow that was Aaron's run?

>Ennis giving a shit about anyone else's canon

A rare occasion but Ennis will write the Punisher comic he and only he wants, and nobody will say otherwise

Well it’s not like there any tangible evidence to connect frank to them they covered their tracks pretty well and I’m sure the military would rather keep everything covered up the make the public ask why frank murdered them all

Same here.

Wonder if he'll do any non-Punisher stories for it.

Be funny if the put him in charge of it as a counterpoint to Ellis being put in charge of WildStorm.

And presumably the arcs in-between, plus that one-shot about the fallout of Yorkie's death.

Wasn’t that pretty much Aaron’s run? One thing about Ennis’ Take on Frank was that he managed to turn action/thriller conventions on their head somewhat.

>Be funny if the put him in charge of it as a counterpoint to Ellis being put in charge of WildStorm.

Would never happen, Ennis isn't the curatorial type. I doubt he has his finger on the pulse of comics enough to know who to even bring in.

what war comics have come out recently? I bet he's read every single one with a military uniform

What about Punisher going BACK to the vietnam?

The best way for Ennis to show that he's ignoring the Aaron run? Have the story outright say that Frank Castle was born in 1950 (or have his age imply that he was born in 1950), like Ennis originally intended. Aaron somehow missed that part in The Tyger.

Howard Chaykin and someone else just did a one-shot for Marvel.
