How come this show hasn't gotten its own board if it spams Yea Forums?
How come this show hasn't gotten its own board if it spams Yea Forums?
Its only autistic hate threads.
Because MLP spammed literally every board on Yea Forums, not just Yea Forums, and there's only spam for a few days after a new episode airs. Unless you're one of those people that gets asshurt at a show having two whole threads.
Because mods learned about the MLP catastrophe.
This is literally the only thread about the show on here rn, get a grip on your life you embarrassing, melodramatic autist.
It's nowhere near as large to deserve its own board. Samurai Jack had way worse spam when it aired so should that get a board?
/mlp/ n containment boards overall were a mistake.
All that shit should be moved to /trash/
Prove me wrong
Spamming SU threads on Yea Forums isnt enough. MLPfags got their own board cause they were legit spamming every board on the site with their faggotry, like Yea Forums being spammed with MLP fanfic threads
they have already become accustomed to their containment board, trying to move them would be a catastrophe, they could move and found their own board or migrate to another (something that has already happened several times in the past)
>Yea Forums being spammed with MLP fanfic threads
What? For real? And mods allowed that crap?
yeah, its called /trash/
Easy to get away with when Yea Forums was and still is one of the deadest boards on the site. Mods and Jannies are barely ever online.
probably because the show is mostly dead
MLP is 8 seasons (and almost 10 years) in and will probably still last a few more years
unless the movie is just a runaway success (doubtful), Steven Universe is probably just going to go the way of Adventure Time, where (outside a few threads) people mostly just want to forget about it
also, MLP has a board because bronies are some of the most annoying motherfuckers since furries and fuck up almost every thread they were in
This basically, and even then the spam is nowhere near how bad other shows been in the past, partly due /trash/ mind you.
/vp/ was a combination of "threads being spammed" and ease threads derailed into being a about the medium not related to the board (IE: Anime discussion on Yea Forums, Game discussion on Yea Forums) as well as the multimedia nature making it related to a TON of boards. Ultimately /vp/ was created to help centralize pokémon fans so they can discuss everything at one place without going offtopic and bothering people who got annoyed at it or the frequency of threads in the case of Pokémon General.
/mlp/ was pure containment due Autismos not shutting up about it ANYWHERE.
Steven Universe was nowhere near either, even at its height and even they the "Catch-All" board was created to grab /sug/ just like it grabs other undesirable series getting too big for Yea Forums.
Fuck, Yea Forums is probably the biggest exporter to /trash/, it is basically Yea Forums threads, Fatfags and Furries and that fact alone means Yea Forums will probably never spawn another proper containment board due already making use of /trash/ before things get critical.
There is a dedicated board for that shit trans show
Its called /trash/
>/vp/ was a combination of "threads being spammed" and ease threads derailed into being a about the medium not related to the board
Also the fact that Yea Forums was the biggest board on the site at the time, so it was already hard enough to discuss everything in a flood of threads about whatever the popular subject of the moment was. When you add in Pokemon hype, shit got out of hand. That's also why Yea Forums now has three spin-off boards.
>and will probably still last a few more years
Season 9 has been confirmed to be the final season of the current generation. But a reboot will come soon after.
/mlp/ was a special case. It's hard to believe if you weren't there, but that shit engulfed EVERYTHING. You know how Yea Forums gets like 15 /pol/ threads a day, normal threads get derailed by a single "Trump is a jew" comment, and retards can't help but to join in those discussions every single time they're posted? Imagine that on a much bigger scale. Like, nearly every thread would eventually have someone post a pony reaction image that would immediately derail the thread into either a pony discussion or people bitching about ponys. At its peak, you literally could not go into any thread on Yea Forums without ponies in some form. And it was spreading to every fucking board.
Steven Universe, at its worse, was just people making too many threads about the show on Yea Forums.
M8 there was MLP spam in every board from /3/ to /o/, often having nothing to do with the board topic at hand. They flooded literally every board on the site and the only board that managed to escape relatively unscathed was Yea Forums because they have special dedicated mods and were moot's personal baby.
>unless the movie is just a runaway success (doubtful)
>Doubtful
Change Your Mind brought a lot of people back into the fandom and the film was hyped up last year, so I doubt it’ll be a flop.
Is there a reason MLP was shilled so hard? It's an alright show but man did people go fucking absolutely bananas over it. It's such a weird nostalgic memory.
Even to this day, I don't know how it got as big as it did. I think it was a perfect storm of the internet starting to get big and the show being pretty good from what I heard. Then bronies basically became furries 2.0. Even when I was in college, there was a fucking MLP club and this was like only a few years ago.
When it first aired people were joking around about it being literally the greatest cartoon ever made, because it slightly exceeded expectations and they thought calling a horse cartoon the greatest cartoon ever made was funny. Then people actually bought into it and started to parrot those opinions around like they were real, even though it was originally a joke. Then Yea Forums got a hold of it and it was spammed everywhere. It was basically the most dramatic version of pic related I've yet witnessed.
My Little Pony has good porn but I can't say the same for Steven Universe.
>Even when I was in college, there was a fucking MLP club and this was like only a few years ago.
That's the weirdest thing. It wasn't just an "extremely online" thing. You'd run into MLP fans out in public and shit too trying to spread the good word. It's easy to forget how much of a cultural phenomena this show was. It then just all immediately dropped off after like 3 seasons for god knows what reason.
>trying to spread the good word.
It's funny you'd use those words. I remember at its peak before the creation of /mlp/ I saw some anons talking about how they were "converting" people towards mlp and away from other cartoons. Like, they were saying that they were getting their friends and younger relatives to stop watching any cartoons that weren't MLP, actually using the word "converted". It really was like a revival of the early-mid 00s furry autism.
>It really was like a revival of the early-mid 00s furry autism.
That's because bronies are just furries-in-denial, even more so than Poképhiles.
Says you. I beat off to amethyst everyday.
It's not pony levels of shilling
that's true, the board is dead
>It then just all immediately dropped off after like 3 seasons for god knows what reason.
People got consumed with fan theories and trying to add layers of depth to the show that never existed. The moment the actual writers started to contradict their head canon they got angry at them for it.
This also ties back to , in the very early days people were making joke theories based off of absolutely minuscule moments, which the later people took seriously. The entire MLP fandom was founded on a joke gone completely off the rails
It was a cartoon that massively exceeded the standards set for "Girls' Cartoons" by other shows, including the previous MLP generation's cartoons.
Furthermore, it's worth remembering that a lot of "Bronies" overlap with Weaboos, especially in the early fandom.
Weaboo culture had already set the precedent for boys to enjoy girly slice-of-life cartoons. Furthermore, certain "action-girl shows" like Power Puff Girls, Kim Possible, and Totally Spies had already set the precedent for boys liking action shows with a girly aesthetic.
And, as it turned out, MLP:FIM has a healthy mix of magical action and slice of life, so it appeals to both kinds of boys who already had a predisposition to like it.
This, when combined with the anonymity of the internet, allowed many males to openly profess their love of a cartoon for little girls. Anonymity emboldened these males in the face of the mainstream view that males should not like feminine things, and this boldness also ended up breaking the shell of "eww, girly shit" that a lot of males have built by default, which only added to their ranks.
Then, because of the typical male revulsion of girly things, MLP became a great way to troll males who hadn't already broken that barrier, and as we all know, feeding trolls only makes them more emboldened to continue, until the mods shut down their posts directly.
Of course, banning something only makes it pop up elsewhere, and because SO MANY people were using ponies to shitpost, it spread out to all the corners of the internet once Yea Forums cracked down on it.
The funniest part is how anyone can spam Wormwood or A.Wyatt Mann comic without sending this shitty website in a frenzy of shitstorm but post a technicolor cartoon character and you fags go bonkers.[REDACTED] Is perfect to show how ass-backwards the common channers values are:"Nazis are cool but toony toons Carebears is a menace to our fucking polynesian cave painting forums and our values,we must put the hammer down or we'll get engulfed"
You fags are eternally stuck in 2008 when fur-bashing was the hottest cool meme and you havent evolved since.
Imagine being this wrong
>He knows
Only very partially correct. MLP wasn't shilled, it was a Yea Forums troll to Yea Forums's bocu no pico. Stupid kids thought it was serious praise and actually started to watch it as if they were watching the next big cartoon and so it became a vicious cycle and snowballed into it's own community.
It almost didn't matter anymore that the original threads and posts were to trick retards into watching a cartoon for little girls, lonely young men used it as a device for friendship as the series implied and set into it's own community.
It got out of control when the discussions left Yea Forums when the retards were being mocked and laughed at and continued on reddit in their own hugbox.
MLP is the greatest troll Yea Forums has ever conceived (on a SFW board).
Of course reddit's the worst ingredient of it all, a haven from shitposts (like telling Notch to get off vacation and do more work, eventually drifting away from Minecraft development from the huge influx of redditbux and upboats) and also protected MLP duped idiots from the rest of the board until moot had to contain their shit when they just couldn't shut the fuck up about watching that stupid cartoon.
So MLP being shilled was just glue sniffers telling others how to get high sniffing glue after the bully tricked the retard about it.
I know because I was there. I hopped into the early threads because a new cartoon is a new cartoon, and I dropped it after 3 episodes because it just felt like an ever-so-slightly about average little girls show. I remember the original people that were joking around getting really upset at the people that took it seriously, and they even made threads trying to explain what happened, but it was already way too late. There were like two or three days where there was this sort of mad dash by the original jokesters/trolls to contain it, and then they were completely overwhelmed when the real spam set it. It was like watching a man drowning at sea making a few last desperate gasps before a wave knocked him under for good.
This
it also failed to even break 1M views
/sug/ would be practically empty if it existed, whats the point?
90% of the viewers watched it via stream, that's normal vierwership these days since Tv is literally dying.
>if it spams Yea Forums?
There's literally one SU thread in the whole catalog OP, and it's yours. What does that tell you?
prove it
Fluttershy by her self has 168927 images it would over take Yea Forums just as pokemon would over take Yea Forums.
