What Batman comics should I read as a fairly casual reader who only cares if it's particularly good? Let's see... I've read Dark Knight Returns, Year One, The Long Halloween, The Killing Joke, Frank Miller's All-Star Batman & Robin (fucking retarded)... I read most of that stupid Grant Morrison story arc where Batman goes insane and lives as a fucking hobo while Damian takes over... I think that one was the only time I've ever read along with the comics as they came out, which didn't leave a good taste in my mouth. Anyways, what's some ones that are like really really good?

bump

Court of owls story arc
Knight fall
Batman vs the monster men
batgirl year 1

Isn't Knightfall ridiculously long? Might have to pass on that one.

Check out just about anything from the first 100 issues or so of Legends of the Dark Knight. An early 90's series created after the massive unexpected hit of Burton's Batman that lets the best creators of the time do pretty much anything they want in 4 issue arcs with little or no continuity or editorial constraints. Best arcs:

>Gothic
>Venom
>Blades
>Going Sane

That sounds pretty cool. I'll check that out.

I know you said you weren't a fan of Morrison's later epic but his arc Gothic is a legit classic. Awesome take inspired by Faust and the gothic horror novel The Monk that warped my brain as a teen.

Batman: Hush
No mans land
Dark victory

Read vengeance of bane 1 then just volume 1 of Knight fall
I don't really recommend volume 2 or 3 unless you're really enjoying it

Also jokers last laugh is fun but more of a crossover

Start Morrison from the beginning.
