Being dead

You're kidding? What genius thought that was a good idea? How did he even die?

I stopped to care about him when he broke with Marlo and she became The Death.

Hulk used nanites to de-power him from being A-Bomb when Marvel wanted to reduce the number of Hulks back down to just Hulk and She-Hulk. Then Spencer's Captain America had Rick become the Wikileaks of the superhero community. After Captain America joined Hydra and took over the USA, Rick was executed by a Hydra firing squad during the Secret Empire event.

>Rick was executed by a Hydra firing squad during the Secret Empire event.
That's silly. Peter David told me that Rick always carries an anti-firing squad cloak.

Please tell me it was a well written and emotional death scene because that sounds terrible reading it like that

Why hasn't the MCU used Rick Jones yet?

They have...sort of. His name appears in a blink and you miss it document in the opening credits of The Incredible Hulk

I didn't read this shit, but this all was like an alternate world, or undone by cosmic cubes, right? Rick gets some nice little moments...

And then well... ya know.

Thing I hate the most is that Black Widow came back but he didn't.

At least Immortal Hulk and Coates' Cap aren't ignoring that he died, I guess.

Someone will bring him back. There's always someone who says "Rick Jones can still work in this modern age!" and he'll be around until someone kills him again.

Isn't his wedding issue getting reprinted soon?

Christ this is garbage.
>these book reference that he had a shitty death so it's okay
No

I'm 99% sure that Ewing will bring him back in Immortal Hulk if future covers and solicits are anything to go by. Especially with the whole "Gamma makes you immortal" theme.

>Especially with the whole "Gamma makes you immortal" theme.
I forgot about that. Yeah, would probably be the best place to bring him back. I'm sure they could do some crazy stuff with him.

Except that I never said it was OK, nigger.

Unless Feige takes a special interest in him I doubt we'll ever see him. I'm OK with that though

Hopefully he does come back, he's one of my fav c-listers. I also liked that he's the unofficial superhero sidekick, guy has been with Hulk, Cap, Mar-Vell, and ROM.

it was a good death

I’d murder you all to have the real Captain Marvel back again.

Unofficial? He wrote autobiography called "Sidekick".

It's time to let go man, he ain't coming back in our lifetime.

bruh he was literally merc'd just to launch the Marvel Graphic Novel line, nobody cared about him, and he aint coming back.

You need to murder Quesada and Jemmas. Maybe even Nicieza.

Isn't it hinted at that he's made some kind of deal with Death?

Death was running around with the body of Rick's wife during the Scarlet Spider.

Yeah I always thought Nicieza completely mishandled Genny after PAD scooped him up. I get that Nicieza wrote his first series and all but he was pretty shit in Thunderbolts and killing him off that way just to wank Zemo was fucking dumb.

in hindsight, this was building up to a redemption arc for hydracap but spencer was too stubborn to prove to everyone that nothing will get retconned so we ended up with fantasy steve instead.

probably got turned into a woman

This page is actually pretty endearing. It works on a basic human level and I empathize for both parties.

This is so dumb it’s funny.

>I didn't read this shit, but this all was like an alternate world, or undone by cosmic cubes, right?
As far as I know, no. Kobik the Living Cosmic Cube (who is at least partially responsible for this whole mess) deliberately chose to keep everyone who died (like Rick Jones, Black Widow, and the ENTIRETY of Las Vegas) dead in order to teach some kind of lesson. Also Captain America is still Hydra. The current good Captain America is a construct created by Kobik while the real Captain America is still Hydra’d which will probably stay the status quo until Trump is out of office... assuming Marvel doesn’t just forget about that point plot

>Christ this is garbage.
This is modern Marvel, boy

>eliberately chose to keep everyone who died (like Rick Jones, Black Widow, and the ENTIRETY of Las Vegas) dead in order to teach some kind of lesson.
THIS WAS ALL HER FAULT! WHAT LESSON IS SHE TRYING TO TEACH WHEN SHE CAUSED ALL OF THE EVENTS THAT LEAD TO ALL THIS DEATH?!

It's like poisoning a water supply and not giving out the antidote to teach the people poisoned not to drink from the water supply!

>Gamma makes you immortal

Plot twist: gamma is also the origin of all superpowers. The cosmic rays that struck Richards' spacecraft? Gamma rays. The radiation that tainted that spider? Gamma rays. The Vita-rays that turned a sickly young man into Captain America? Also known as gamma rays. Even the X-gene is the result of gamma rays. One way or another it all comes back to gamma.

And that's why no superhero can fucking stay dead but normal people die for keeps, unless they spend a lot of time around superheroes (it's second-hand irradiation so they get the immortality but not the superpowers).

>normal people die for keeps
But they don’t, not even the nameless extras stay dead.

If a normal person spends enough time around superheroes they become immortal too. Because of... uh... the second hand gamma rays coming off them. Yeah, that's just plausible enough. Why do you think Aunt May is still alive? Mephisto? Please. It's because she spent years living in close proximity to Peter Parker.

>Then Spencer's Captain America had Rick become the Wikileaks of the superhero community
Isn't that what happened to his DC counterpart Snapper Carr except fifty years ago? Brilliant as usual Spencer.

Explain why billy bob from Oklahoma crawling his way out of Valhalla.

imo it’s more like not feed your kid’s dog while they’re at the camp you forced them to go to and then blaming them for letting the dog starve to death.

Rumor has it the ending was supposed to leave everything that way and Kobik wouldn't have been able to undo everything even if she wanted to. The supposed original plan was that HydraCap was going to remain the only Steve but the parts of the story with the good Cap running inside the cosmic cube were added because of fan backlash and pressure from Disney to undo it all. But Spencer already said the cosmic cube wasn't going to undo everything.

So they had good Cap come back as a double and Kobik decided to not undo anything. Then they just had Black Widow turn out to not be dead and had Strange raise Vegas from Hell. At least we got a decent little crossover from that.

The real Captain America died fighting Onslaught and was replaced by a copy made by Franklin.
