Why did Yea Forums tell me Ultimate Spider-Man was bad? I'm really enjoying this so far. It's like a modern day Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends
Why did Yea Forums tell me Ultimate Spider-Man was bad? I'm really enjoying this so far...
>why was Yea Forums wrong about this thing?
It isn't terrible as a stand alone. However the show is way to Randumb with the monologue. Other than that the show is at least average.
Not as good as the ones that came before it, but still not a travesty.
The main issue people have with it is it came after Spectacular, so in comparison it was an immense downgrade.
>Not as good as the ones that came before it
>it came after Spectacular
Oh. Yeah I could see that upsetting people, especially how it ended. Not sure why the "randumb" humor is a complaint though, it feels like normal Spider-Man humor to me
The first couple of season were really bad. It got a bit better towards the end.
I don't know if I would call the early seasons bad, but it definitely felt like it took a bit for them to really hit their stride.
Tell us that after you've heard the monkey SFX for the millionth time.
His original team with unique power sets also gets replaced with an entire team of spidermen about halfway through. Agent Venom was cool though.
And as others have said, it is just such a huge downgrade from Spectacular. It's like going from eating rib eye steak to used chewing gum you find under tables.
I'm on the final season now. I get that Spectacular was great, but that comparison is over-blowing it. I think it'd be more like if someone grounded that rib-eye into a burger. It's still delicious, but there's a way better form to eat that in
The first season is pretty much just Marvel's Young Justice but much worse and with shitty comedy. Later seasons are slightly better though.
Also, DID ANYBODY LIKE THIS VERSION OF SPIDER-MAN?
How many action adventure animated shows have you seen? Ultimate isn't godawful, but it's a very, very low bar when you compare it to other shows. Next you'll be telling me GotG and Assemble have good animation.
Haven't seen them
Drake Bell might be my favorite Spidey va to date. He captures that youthful quippiness so well
>Making Peter join shield with a bunch of literally who's and b-listers nobody gives a shit about
Wow, what a great concept! Almost like that goes against his fucking character
>Spider-Man teaming up with literal whos is against the character
What?
It couldn't even handle the concept right. The team pretty much bickered and shat on Spidey until the season finale, where we're supposed to buy that they're FAMILY and really care about each other.
Again, that's no longer a factor after season one, but it definitely soured a lot of people on the show.
Yea Forums fairly consistently has wrong taste
I just enjoyed how off the rails they went with comic plot elements.
> violent clone of Spidey with wrist spikes from the Kaine project is named Ben by Aunt May
> Carnage Queen/Ultimate Spider-Woman MJ
> Anti-Venom Harry
Also Doc Ock's initial design was pretty neato and his last season redesgin was a great update of the classic TAS look.
I never understood the "spidey teaming up is not in character" meme.
Spider-man broke the fourth wall too much and that mini spider-man (was it the spider-sense?) was particularly unfunny
It started out bad but it got decent, still more of a "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends" type of a show than actual Spider-Mam show.
It's not Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon bad though. Will Friedle as Peter Quill is awful and that cartoon is so uninspired and awful even James Gunn criticized their soundmix as being generic.
Only arc that is decent to watch is the Adam Warlock arc but don't bother after that because whatever character growth happens in it disappears afterwards.
I hated the monkey screeching sound that would happen when a character was annoyed or surprised. It was pretty overused as well.
I can't speak for that guy but I personally only take issue with him being a mainstay on a team. Him just teaming up and working briefly with a random mix of heroes is fine so long as he's not a fixture on a team, in my opinion.
He's been on the Avengers for years. Whether you like it or not it's part of the character. I get where you're coming from
Because I watched the whole first season, and it was bad. If it got better, great. But I don't really care.
>Not sure why the "randumb" humor is a complaint though, it feels like normal Spider-Man humor to me
Then you have never read some good Spidey. Spider-man is quippy, he's a smart ass and runs his mouth. But he is not LOL RANDOM!
He has been a RESERVE Avenger for years, which essentially means "I'm a good guy and I agree to help defend my city in case murderous aliens invade it." There was that one mini but it was just that, a mini.
He on the team and was living in Avengers tower during Bendis's run.
The fact that there is ever so slight precedent for something doesn't make it a central part of the character. How is he going to spend multiple decades solo just for one retard to blow through with a shit idea that didn't even stick, for you to claim he's an Avenger through and through?
>good
Yes, good isn't randumb, but most of Spider-Man comics are not good
He was also an Avenger in Hickman's run before Spock got him off the team. I'm sure it won't be the last time either. I'm not saying he SHOULD be on a team, but they really made it work multiple times even having an episode where he didn't feel cut out for a team.
Bendis' run on Avengers was very popular. If not for him and Millar you wouldn't even be seeing the MCU because it wouldn't exist.
Another instance of someone pushing that shit meme within the last decade, big woo
>you wouldn't even be seeing the MCU
Why are you implying this is a bad thing? That would be fantastic. Maybe Marvel comics wouldn't just be a tired-ass IP farm and they'd have been forced to seek out actual quality writers to survive.
Man, I'm trying really hard here to be kind because I absolutely agree with everything you're saying (especially the MCU), but at the same time you're trying to ignore reality. He's been part of the Avengers for years
Because it's abysmal in every way? The only non-terrible thing about this shitshow is its Doc Ock.
I gave Spectacular a hard pass because of the childish-looking art style and still thought this series was gutter trash.
I only gave Spectacular a chance after USM completely disappointed me.
Oh, fuck off. This show was trash.
>t. Assmad TSSM fan
See Also, don't flaunt your shit taste like that, it only makes you look more idiotic.
Not him but in both of those runs he wasn't really that important for them with the maybe exception of Dark Reign. Spider-Man never needed the Avengers.
What did you think of Spectacular after giving it a shot?
I feel like a Brave and the Bold style cartoon starring Spider-Man would be great if handled correctly.
It was better, obviously.
Actual characters instead of cardboard cutouts like Spider-Man's team on USM, vastly superior villains, supporting cast is not forgotten about, the humor that feels natural instead of being obnoxious, etc.
I found Sandman to be atrociously done in Spectacular, but I'm also a huge Flint Marko fag. They had him around for so many episodes with no development, then he became Sandman, and then he was fucking "dead" the next episode he appeared.
I'm not a fan of the direction they took with Shocker and Kraven. In the former's case, I really like Herman specifically as a character and how he made the gauntlets himself. On the other hand, I liked the increased focus on the Enforcers the change led to, and I really like the shows interpretation of them. I just wish it wasn't at the expense of Herman, is all.
As for Kraven, I hated the Ultimate-inspired direction they took with having him get his DNA spliced with a lion's. I thought his first showing against Spider-Man while he was still human was actually pretty solid--it wasn't like it was completely one-sided with Spider-Man effortlessly dealing with Kraven or anything. I still remember watching that part and being excited to see what kind of grander, creative ideas Kraven came up with for traps and the like for his next encounter with Spider-Man, only for him to immediately go for the shortcut cheat of becoming a lion man instead.
I mostly liked what Spectacular did with characters, mind you. I just didn't find it perfect across the board, personally.
I liked Ultimate Spider-Man too. I like superhero team ups in general, that fact about myself may also contribute why I loved The Brave and The Bold so much.
those mad men
lmao I just read that series this week.
But they are talking about the cartoon Ultimate Spider-Man.
At least they called it "Jumping The Shark"
>then he became Sandman, and then he was fucking "dead" the next episode he appeared.
That’s not how it happen at all. We got plenty of episodes with him as Sandman before that. Even then, his whole aspect that he wasn’t as murder-happy as Rhino or the other villains was established enough and didn’t get major play until now.
so was i
Did they at least include the bit at the end where it implied Wolverine committed sexual assault on a minor?
Peter’s monologue wasn’t good
It didn’t feel right that the supporting heroes were simplified versions of themselves (Excluding Sam Alexander Nova)
And those early seasons were trying so hard to capture the lightning in a bottle that was Joe Kelly’s Deadpool
The 2 things I thought were cool was Venom symbiote being Peter’s radioactive blood & the end credits song
nope. bendis wrote the episode too.
wow Bendis just take all the things that made your writing bearable and just YEET that shit
>Took the best part of Spiderman
>Bendis rubs his penis all over it and add random edgy parts in
>I enjoyed it
Probably because you have shit taste
What's up with the garbage backgrounds in this show? Looks like a bad photo filter, it's distracting.
Based and DCpilled
Batman has mostly shit comics too.
>Based and DCpilled
Don't most of the people complain about Ultimate just prefer Spectacular?
Yes
Yeah, it's majority people that watched only the first season and are just super buttblasted about their favorite show being cancelled. Fact of the matter is the Dan Slott Spider-Man cartoon is the worst
