DARK PHOENIX Leaked Endings

Which is better, Yea Forums?

Original ending (Pre-reshoots)

The X-Men rescue Jean and bring her back to the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. Magneto and his acolytes follow them to kill Jean and confront the X-Men. Meanwhile, Agent Smith (Jessica Chastain) approaches and corrupts Jean. After nearly killing Xavier, Jean attacks the world leaders at the United Nations’ headquarters in Washington, D.C., while Agent Smith calls her alien armada to invade Earth. While the X-Men protect civilians, Cyclops reaches out to Jean and restores her humanity. She spares the world leaders and disintegrates Agent Smith, then flies into space and sacrifices herself to destroy the alien armada. The government blames mutants from the crisis. Magneto and his followers leave for the island of Genosha, while Professor Xavier and the X-Men return to the school to keep fighting for pacific coexistence between humans and mutants.

New ending (Post-reshoots)

The X-Men rescue Jean and bring her back to the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. Magneto and his acolytes follow them to kill Jean and confront the X-Men. Meanwhile, Agent Smith approaches and attempts to corrupt Jean, but is interrupted by the Mutant Containment Unit, which arrests the Acolytes and the X-Men – including Jean. Agent Smith and her team of shapeshifting alien warriors attack a train transporting the captive mutants to retrieve Jean, leading to a battle between the mutants and the aliens. Agent Smith attempts to manipulate Jean into killing her friends, but with Cyclops’ help, Jean overcomes Agent Smith’s influence and sacrifices herself to destroy the aliens. The government blames mutants for the crisis. Xavier and Magneto decide to build a safe haven for their race in the island of Genosha together, and Xavier appoints Cyclops to replace him as headmaster of the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters, which is renamed in Jean’s honor.

Why does the government blame mutants?

>Jessica Chastain's Role
That role sounds very familiar. Is the timing coincidental?

I think the movie would be 100x better if Jean was useless

They're almost the same exact ending. What was the point of changing it at all? The MCU jab?

To make Jean less evil for the Disney version in some years.

In both endings she only kills the aliens tho

So how was Jean alive at the end of Days of Future Past?

So they removed Dark Phoenix from the Dark Phoenix movie?
Or did she already fuck shit up at that point. Wait, does Dark Phoenix get arrested by the police in the new ending? That would be hilarious.
Also weird that they‘re trying to move into a 2000s/2010s comic position for some reason at the end there. Not that it matters, but still odd.
Either way, this movie will suck no matter how they slice it. Pretty sure that now that they messed with it, it‘s gonna be even worse.

Because

Just die already so Disney can reboot the X-Men into the MCU.

>Or did she already fuck shit up at that point
She kills Mystique early on and you see her destroying stuff in the trailers.

In the first one she attack the world leaders, she doesn't kill them but you know... makes more sense with both ends.

No space armada?

Worst thing to ever happen to the X-Men franchise. What a shitty way to end these movies, a 3rd ending nobody wanted.

>bringing Genosha into this shit
Goddamn it, Fox. Did you really have to bring Genosha into your shitty film? Can’t you just die with SOME dignity at the very least?

Original ending was way better.

Kinberg implied Mystique isn't the only X-Man who dies, does anyone know who else it might be? I'm guessing Beast would be one since he joins Magneto.

It's amazing that they could very well make a worse X-Men ending than The Last Stand, which killed off Cyclops.

Jean is always dying and coming back to life, not counting clones and MORE time travel shenanigans. You dont think in the thirty or whatever years it takes to get from Dark Phoenix to the ending of Days of Future past, that the X-Men wouldn't have to deal with pheonix or other horseshit along the way?

Because they need more reasons to hate them

It‘s incredible how they tanked the main-line franchise so hard after DOFP had given it a new chance and they've had two cool spin-off movies.

I‘m really hoping MCU can do things better simply because they get to start from a clean sheet again. They can actually get a decent cast and can focus on making the characters relatable. Also they get to reset the tone, they get to be more colorful and out there.
They might actually get to make a space opera out of Dark Phoenix for example.

>She kills Mystique early on
How is this bad?

Holy autism. It's a bad thing in-universe obviously.

Mystique is mutant messiah in this timeline for pointing a gun at the president but not pulling the trigger. Literally saved his fucking life from herself. So everybody loves her.

I'm just bored by this, it's the worst I can say.

Holà

>Which is better, Yea Forums?

The one where they take the final print of the film and light it on fire because the entire phoenix concept is hot garbage that was retarded in the comics and extra double retarded every time they've tried to do it in film or television.

Don't worry friend you get a 4th shitty ending when New Mutants comes out in two years :^)

Both sound like shit.
>having the first portrayal of aliens in your muh tolerance allegory capes be a hiveminded race of invaders who get exterminated
Good job.

...

Timelines.

The old timeline had a great cast. Yeah Huge Ackman doesn't look the part but he's a solid actor.
New timeline only really had a good Magneto and that was a curse in disguise.

>Not the Raven School for Gifted Youngsters
You had one job Fox.

The original ending sounds better, its bigger with more stakes. Magneto already attacked Washington and Apocalypse messed up the world but this one train in the new ending is straw that broke the camel's back?, also Charles running off with Magneto is a weak way to end a 19 year series of movies.

The Pheonix was great the first few times it was used in the comics. It is overused at this point but can still be good. It is garbage in the movie. Only good adaption was X-Men 92 cartoon

There was a really exciting time with Legion, Logan, Deadpool and New Mutants all being talked about where there seemed to be so much life in this franchise.

It's insane how much it's been squandered.

>Magneto
>Killing another mutant
No

New Mutants isn't coming out.

More action.

The original ending had the X-Men basically on crowd control while Scott talks Jean down from killing the world leaders, then Jean flies up in space and blows herself and the Not-Skrulls up.

Quicksilver. Notice that he's nowhere to be seen after the confrontation with Jean in the neighborhood.

Attached: Death flags.png (600x338, 238K)

It's the same timeline.

Jean kills his favorite squeeze and maybe his son.

How are you sure this is real? Did I miss something?

No it isn't. It literally can't be.

Magneto kills other mutants all the fucking time.

>Mutant Containment Unit,
>MCU

AH HAAAAAA!

We should have gotten a Legion Quest movie instead of this

What about literally all those times he tried to kill the X-Men so they wouldn't get in his way?

>Jean is always dying and coming back to life,
But that's in the comics.

You mean his favorite GRAVITY SQUEEZE

You can have 1 (one) Quicksilver scene per movie.

>reshoots
What the fuck is going on? It's like every frricking movie has some BS drama going on for it that requires some idiotic late-game studio-sanctioned shenanigans. Can't they just do it right from the start?
Or is it just me swallowing the "outrage" pill completely unnecessarily?

It's the fucking Phoenix host, coming back to life is what phoenix do.

Test screenings.

>yfw they rework the movie to be a Carrie/Akira/Chronicle thriller/horror of telekinetic nightmare and the movie is about the x-men trying to survive Jean's wrath while at the same time protecting the world from her and trying to bring her back

If that's what it's actually called then it would be one of the pettiest things I've ever seen, like it's so petty it's amazing

Ah Jesus Christ, it's like I knew about it, but repressed it. Fucking idiot execs, holy shit.

Most big-budget movies get reshoots. They usually last one or two weeks. The red alert are when reshoots are unusually long, like Dark Phoenix month-long reshoots. That's indicative that there's something fundamentally wrong with the movie that they're trying to fix.

And even then, sometimes it works. Look at World War Z, for instance. The entire third act was reshot and the movie ended up becoming a box office hit.

I just want to see the laughable Mystique death scene desu

>World War Z
The one with Brapp Pitt?
It fucking stank.

>Killing one of, if not the only cool things off
Yeah, that fits

It's literally the future that came from the changes Logan made in the past.

It was a hit, though. And the revised ending was better than the overlong, grimdark original ending.

Did you miss the latest trailer?

It was a bad film but it was the highest grossing zombie movie of all time.

Dunno man. It could be a hit, but it felt like three episodes from a not-existing TV show slapped together into a "feature film". And not very good at that.

Real shame.

He's a thorn in a writer's side, they made him so OP that he became a limitation and they had to find retarded ways for him to not just solve the movie. Like Apocalypse being fast enough to see him in Justice League: Superman sees Flash Redux, except the previous movies established he's way, way too fast for that. Like borderline comics Flash fast.
For a trading card game metaphor, he's a design limitation, there are some things you can't do if he's around.
It's also an issue with Thor and Hulk in the MCU, that's why they were put aside for Civil War.

That just creates one more timeline. That's how timelines work.

>Like Apocalypse being fast enough to see him in Justice League: Superman sees Flash Redux

Apocalypse came out a whole year before Justice League, my dude.

Its literally shown not to be the case in these movies.

He doesn't die, but he gets hit in the head with a piece of shrapnel and spends the rest of the movie in a coma, only waking up in the ending montage.

Also, Magneto once again does not find out that Quicksilver is his son.

The is only one timeline at a time, the old one got deleted.

Then it's literally fucking retarded. Does anyone who makes these moview read comics?

No.

This actually makes me wonder. With IF end with a multiverse of a singleverse? If Scott resets the timeline will we still see one universe without the reset?

I was more implying that the sequence wasn't nearly as satisfying. Although
>Snyder is a hack
News at 11.

Why is it retarded?

Who gives a shit if time travel works one way in the comics and another in the movies. The movie was great.

No, because a second universe won't be useful. In comics it's because drawing them is cheap and they can always keep telling stories about that universe if they want.

Because it makes the universe shallow and is transparently a clumsy and needless retcon. It also makes the original movies retroactively pointless plot-wise. And it's also unjustified from a meta standpoint, the movies are still there.
And I would say solid to good rather than great.

All of that is retarded and you're dumb.

First off, how does it make it shallow?

Second, of course it was for the retcon, even if it was a split timeline it was for the retcon, are you stupid?

Third, the original three arent pointless, the entire point of DOFP was to prevent them from happening. Without them, DOFP has no plot.

Ok...another question. Are people HERE to retarded to understand multiverses? I think so and then it makes sense for the movies to not use them

Also isn't it how timelines work in most fiction and /x/ "physics"? When you change the past you create a divergent timeline. Other works where you change your own original universe usually don't deal with different timelines existing. Like there is only one timeline that keeps changing in BttF.

So just like the american Big 2 comics?

Shallow because less possibilities, less characters, less stories exist in that universe.

Divergent timelines is the only elegant way to retcon, it's a soft retcon where the shit still happened but it's not the story you're following anymore.

That just makes Dofp pointless too. It shouldn't exist as a movie if the first 3 didn't happen, it makes them not happen so then it doesn't happen itself. It's retarded. Again.

Nice insults though champ.

>people are stupid so make stupid fiction
Gay

None of what you said makes any sense.

Actually no, not like that.

>erase the events from 3 movies from continuity
>doesn't reduce the number of stories from that continuity

And yes, sorry, causality does make sense and is one thing that's too much to ask my disbelief to suspend over.

If the first 3 still happened in the future where Logan arrives then DOTFP would really be pointless. Stopping those movies were the only reason Logan went back in time.

Am i wrong? At least for blockbuster films that are for the masses. I still want my sci fi tv shows that actually explore stuff.

But those movies are still required for the events of the the time travel movie to happen you idiot. Even if they technically dont exist in the canon, thats because there was an entire story revolved around removing them from canon, requiring them to have existed and had impact to begin with. And Professor X and Wolverine still remember them.

Right but if he stops these movies he can't go back to the past, or moreso he has no reason to go back to the past, so Dofp doesn't happen, so the first 3 movies do happen, so he goes back to the past, so the first 3 movies didn't happen, do he doesn't go back to the past, etc. It's a timeloop fuckup. Because that's how causality works.

You sound like you need to control your autism and learn to appreciate individual stories instead of "BUT DA LORE HOW DO DA LORE WORK WUT DA TIME TAVEL LORE"

Moreover, you actually can make it work if you keep both timelines alive, because then the Wolverine who goes back to the past doesn't get erased.

I did, that's why the retarded logic only strikes me now, because I turned my brain off bro and just enjoyed the movie.
That doesn't make it not stupid

No you fucking retard thats not how it works because Wolverine didnt literally go back in time, his 2020's consciousness/memories were in his 1970s body. You dont need there to be a clean loop because nothing actually physically went back in time.

Also theres physics principles which theoretically allow for two moments in time to be synchronized and changed like how DOFP was presented. Stop trying to talk smart when you know nothing.

No it makes you stupid for trying to be smart.

No. I actuslly think the many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics is the best interpretation we have. But...not everyone can understand that.

Information time travel breaks exactly the same rules as matter time travel. Cause matter and energy are the same thing, information.

Oh my fucking god why does it even matter you fucking sperg.

Well those two posts are by me and i am a physics nerd. So much so that i figured out the physics of how Ant-Man works...i just like science

>With Mike Morris and Ulvi Yurtsever he showed that traversable Lorentzian wormholes can exist in the structure of spacetime only if they are threaded by quantum fields in quantum states that violate the averaged null energy condition (i.e. have negative renormalized energy spread over a sufficiently large region).[32] This has triggered research to explore the ability of quantum fields to possess such extended negative energy. Recent calculations by Thorne indicate that simple masses passing through traversable wormholes could never engender paradoxes – there are no initial conditions that lead to paradox once time travel is introduced. If his results can be generalized, they would suggest that none of the supposed paradoxes formulated in time travel stories can actually be formulated at a precise physical level: that is, that any situation in a time travel story turns out to permit many consistent solutions

Here, heres your explaination, Physicist Kyp Thorne, now shut up.

>i am a physics nerd
>So much that i figured out the physics of how Ant-Man works

Ant-Man doesnt work, his physics are entirely magic bullshit, you are a retard.

I have not read that paper but is it on arXiv? But thr summary only proposes that time travel may not break everything. I don't know how it plans to get around causality though.

And yes Ant-Man is mostly broken but if you turn his electrons into muons you can get the right size using Bohrs equation. You have to do something with weight but mass only increases by .01%

sóy

why is killing the world leaders the consequence? shouldn't it be the alien invasion or how about Jean (instead of Charles) killing all the mutants like in GLMK.
also, why aliens? Apocalypse was literally the biggest villain of the Fox-Men, why should they be scared of aliens?

Because people complained about no Shi'ar in the last attempt, now Fox is half assing them rather than actually do it properly as usual.

The fact that he didn't physically go back changes literally nothing though. If the first 3 movies don't happen he has no impetus to send his consciousness back and it's just the same issue.
Not everything is about you user, I don't care whether people on Yea Forums think I'm smart.

That's interesting. You seriously need to calm your shit though, sport.

I like how this guy thought he wasn't calling people spergs from a special education house.

Apparently, there's a scene where Xavier attempts to convince Jean to stop her rampage. She challenges him to stand up and stop her. When he can't, she telekinetically lifts him up and forces him to walk upstairs, which is extremely painful for Xavier.

Also most people have praised the space rescue that opens the movie (Nightcrawler/Quicksilver team-up scene) and some have praised the final battle at the train, with Magneto, Storm and Quicksilver said to be standouts.

Attached: Lilandra Nova.jpg (1235x771, 280K)

Yea Forums here, how many storylines can the MCU still use? Eventually they should run out, but going by just X-Men, which ones are possible? (I know they'll never adapt Kraven's Last Hunt for example)

>She challenges him to stand up and stop her. When he can't, she telekinetically lifts him up and forces him to walk upstairs,
Holy fucking shit

the Disney version will be completely recast anyway, assuming they don't just make tv shows
